Pictures are old, they are in the middle of remodeling. We had one of the remodeled rooms and they need to work on the shower... water seeps under glass so we had to mop up every time we showered. Great location!!!

Great location in the center of Florence but very difficult for cars to get to the hotel. A little hard to find initially. Breakfast had a very good selection.

I read these reviews, whether for a stay in the USA or elsewhere. I know they are important. Our stay here was excellent. First, it is blocks away from nearly every possible visiting spot. The room was large, beautiful, quiet, and pretty much new. The staff fell over themselves trying to respond to the slightest request. We asked about small, family owned terrific restaurants to visit and we were given (after a 15-minute effort by the staff) 5 to choose from, a map and directions to each, and they were right! Their English is not perfect, but it was adequate. The breakfast was fresh and excellent. There is a small number of rooms, so there are few people at breakfast and, therefore, there was a lot of room to sit with faster service. Our window overlooked a magnificent church with crowds in the morning and clear, clean streets in the evening. Street cleaners and garbage removers work feverishly each evening throughout Florence. I'm a photographer and I roamed the streets at midnight to get the best pictures of my Italy tour. You may find it a negative: The stairs to the second floor, where your room will probably be, are very steep. You would not want to carry your luggage. There is a small elevator (a lift) to take their place if you wish. We only used the lift upon our arrival and then departure, but many guests never took on the steps. Taxis are not allowed to take you to the door during the day because the street is for walking only -- we were dropped off about a block a way. Taxi from the train was 5 euro and to the airport was 28 euro. There are six restaurants within 100 yards. One of the largest outdoor markets is 100 feet from the hotel. There is no question we got our money's worth. The last time we stayed in Florence it was at a four start hotel across from the train station and it was 4 times the distance to the best parts of Florence and double the price (well, they also served scrabbled eggs for breakfast, too).

The Corte dei Medici is the perfect base for visiting Florence. Right in the centre of the city (halfway between Duomo and railway station), beautifully appointed and great value for money. Great air-con that works, lovely breakfast room. Hotel is currently being renovated (mid-2013) so should be bigger and better by 2014.

We stay in a dark and poor air criculation room for 3 nights, good location to central market and walk evey where. The female staff in breakfast room always talk and play with other single male traveller. She always ignore couple and female clients in same area, including our food, coffee and tea.

Not easy to find as name outside is different and with the permanent market in front it (unlike the photo) makes it more difficult.

I would say thank your to most of the staff for a pleasant stay, they were most helpful. All with exception of the bald gentlemen working the mornings on a couple of days. Perhaps its his command of English or it's just us. He wouldn't even cast his eyes or even acknowledge us when we said good morning or to request 2 of their delightful coffees from him. I feel it's a pity as he is a let down for the rest.

The rooms spacious enough for 3 and beautiful. Good location. We had a problem locating since the signage of the hotel is very small and is covered by the stalls on the street. It took us a while to locate since you did not indicate that is inside Guada Hotel which has a very big and visible signage.

It was a great experience, the hotel was really good, clean, close to touristic points, quite quiet and nice. People was friendly and kind.Really good location. They should add TV channels in English or other language than Italian and prepare a breakfast box like other hotels.

I stayed 6 days. It's very well located, and services in general were very satisfactory. It's true, as commented already, the breakfast is not luxurious (the coffee is instant one), but the price considered, it is not at all disappointing.

Excellent location. You step outside the hotel and you're already inside the historical area of Florence and all the sites you intend to visit. The room was small and a bit dark, but clean, functional and comfortable. Breakfast was mostly continental with some additions. Fine, not more than that. Some of the staff were friendly and some less. There is a safe in the room. Over all the value for money was good.

Hotel has very good location - near the city centre and not far from the railwaystation. But it is quite difficult to find it - there is no sign. Tiny lift. We got a double bedded room instead of a twin bedded one. It was corrected the next day only. There is no hook in the bathroom. The breakfast was good but monotonous.

Wanted a hotel close to everything, and found it at Corte dei Medici. Flea market right outside the door, the Duomo is close, about 10 minute walk. To the railroad station it's about a 15 minute walk.

A curate's egg of a hotel; two hotels in one (ours 3*)and the other 2* therefore very difficult to find; some staff very helpful and friendly; Basil Fawlty breakfast provider on two of the 4 days; poor room servicing led to a complaint and substantial bill reduction We might go back and find the place had sorted itself out as very handy for station and centre.

This was a Three Star hotel placed right in the heart of Florence, I was very disappointed to find that unlike all other similar hotels I have visited, this one did not provide clean towels each day nor did it change the bed sheets or clean the room during our four days there; the litter bin, however, was emptied daily so clearly there were staff working. Hard to find, especially as we arrived late at night and the hotel has no sign! (Read other reviews to help you find it). Some very nice staff but still disappointed by one star service as this hotel could have been absolutely first class. Florence is wonderful and the hotel is surrounded by places to eat and drink 'til the early hours. The market adds to the atmosphere and the bells of San Giovanni, just across the road were not really intrusive. If money is tight eat and drink off the tourist route and look for locals in bars, though you still might be given 'tourist' prices.

A beautiful hotel in a perfect location! The room was HUGE and so lovely. Big bathroom, balcony for a late-afternoon wine, everything in great condition. Very quiet at night, couldn't have been better. One slight issue - the breakfast room is small, and can become over-crowded if people don't show up at their preferred time. Only an issue if you have an early booking for a tour or whatever. Plus, one of the staff, who seems to be responsible for organising breakfast, was pretty unfriendly, a bit anal and short-tempered. He was the exception as the rest of the staff seemed really pleasant. The hotel is wonderfully located, only 5 mins from the Duomo in one direction, 5 mins from the railway station in the other. And the San Lorenzo market is right outside the front door!

Our room (Standard double) was in the end very nice and clean. The hotel is situated quite close to the railway station (10min walk) and close to all major sights. The hotel reception doubles as a reception for a two-star hotel in the same building. The 3-star rooms are separated by a electrical sliding door. The difference is apparent, the 3-star area is very well maintained and kept. The breakfast is included, but has to be book the day before (choose your serving time). The breakfast is actually the worst this here, not worth the money. Just outside the building you will find a very busy street market (bazaar). At night this market square is populated by young people, not the best location for a visitor with children. It is by no means unsafe, but quite busy and noisy. The 3-star hotel is a good choice for young adults and couples.

I think the location (near the train station) and being close to the center are the two more important assets. The hotel is clean and comfortable. Maybe a little bit noisy (some young guests sounded extremely excited when they arrived late one night) but otherwise comfortable. All in all I would say that my stay was what I expected, and I would recommend the hotel.

Hotel Corte dei Medici was a very pleasant surprise. The rooms were beautifully renovated and maintained, the staff, extremely pleasant. The level of service from the Hotel was much more comensurate with a 5 star hotel, the front desk incredibly pleasant and offering services of a concierge. It is a very busy area of Florence, literally in the heart of the Old Town so if you are visiting for a holiday, you could not be more centrally located. I stayed at the Hotel for 1 month as I was taking a course that was about a 15 minute walk from the Hotel and really appreciated the ease in which I was then able to sightsee on my time off. I became ill while staying at the Hotel and was also very pleased with their efforts to help me get medical assistance. The breakfast was included in the rate and was good. I would agree with the comments about the Hotel being tricky to find the first time and would advise that one would look for the Hotel Giada, the sister Hotel sign. I've traveled a lot on business and for pleasure and this was my first stay for an extensive period in a 3 star Hotel and I was very concerned after many very nice 4 and 5 star Hotels. This concern was completely unfounded as I loved this Hotel and would absolutely go back.

Hotel Corte dei Medici has a very good location, not far from the Duomo. The rooms are nice. We can absolutely recommend this hotel, but be aware that it can be a bit difficult to find (upon arrival), because the entrance is rather anonymous. Ask someone local to point it out for you.
