This was our worst experience of staying at a hotel. For the same price we had got a good 4 star hotel in Roma (Christoforo colombus). But Cordova in Florence was a big disappointment, firstly the area was not a nice place to stay and seemed pretty scary at night. We could hear the noises (like toilet flushes) of the surrounding rooms. The hotel was located on 3rd, 4th floor of a building and the lift used to go till 3rd floor only. Apparently the hotel staff could operate/restrict the lift by themselves. The double bedroom given to us had 3 beds in the room of which 2 were joined to make double bed. The furniture and bedding was quite old and seemed like bought from some second hand store. The hotel staff would ask us to deposit keys with them every time we went out..not sure why they did that but that meant we had to be back in time to get the keys back else would be left standing on streets. The breakfast was of poor quality with just cornflakes, milk, tea/coffee and orange juice available. They had instructions(restrictions) on every thing. If you don't leave your towel on the floor that means they will not change the towels. The bathroom had no essential(bathing soap etc) available. The room was supposedly "air conditioned" but when we asked the hotel staff they said "its not working and besides its going to be fine weather at night!!!". The 1970s TV they had in the room didn't work. Overall hotel Cordova was a bad experience and we wanted to checkout as soon as possible. We wanted to checkout by paying for the first night(as told in cancellation policy while booking) but the hotel had deducted the whole amount already. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone. Moreover gives a bad reputation to Venere.com site as well.

The hotel could have been better. There was a strong small of cleaning products, I guessed that meant it was clean, but the room was a bit stuffy. The bathroom wasn't big enough, and the shower was quite cold at times. We had a room that faced the street, it was very loud in the morning and the window glass would shake every time a bus went passed. We had to leave the room key at the reception every time we went out, but when we came back there was always someone different at the reception desk, and you just had to say your room number and they gave you the keys, so I'm not sure how do they actually check that is your room you are going to open, so anyone could get the key to your room really. We did have internet access which was really good, though from what the manager said you usually have to pay for it.

1st time in Florence, we were given a choice of two rooms one with a balcony which had a (very) small bathroom or no balcony and a larger bathroom. We opted for the balcony- good choice. Would stay here again.

A pity that the shower was almost cold and nothing available to remove the water from of the bathroom floor. Poor breakfast. Not really continental.

Breakfast was poor. I was shocked when I saw where the shower was. We couldn't manage to set the Internet Wifi working fine. There were mosquitos in our room. Staff is not specially nice, although we could borrow a power-plug converter from the reception to plug the computer in. Next time i will choose another place to stay. Yeah.

At a very limited breakfast which is included, we enjoyed the best coffee we have had yet on a month-long holiday. They take bookings from school groups, who in our case were not supervised and terribly noisy late into the morning hours. Any entreaties for them to quiet down were initially listened to and then ignored. Be prepared for little sleep if you are unfortunate enough to be there with a school group!

We stayed there one night only, and everything was fine: spacious clean room, welcoming hosts, central location, good breakfast, and all these at a great price. Would stay again and recommend to friends.

Whilst the Cordova is a little run down, it presents reasonable value for money. It is quite a walk (10/15 mins to the Duomo). The staff are friendly and helpful. The room was clean and reasonably sized. The bathroom, which was really just a wetroom, was very small with no separate shower tray - just a folding back curtain to contain the shower spray. The most disappointing issue was the included breakfast which was the poorest we've had on many city breaks - it comprised only juices, coffee/tea, 1 cereal, bread and various jams. It could be significantly improved with a little ham/cheese/boiled eggs etc.

The location of the hotel is good, not far from the Duomo but in a relatively quiet zone. The employees were kind but cleaning leaves much to be desired and the breakfast is disappointing (but two excellent Caffè, one in the near S.Marco square, the other in via Cavour, just after the cross with the square, for a delicious colazione or break).

The hotel has a somewhat good relationship price/quality, but there are some important issues to note: the duche (bathroom) is horrible, with no space e almost no water (drop by drop); the room is full of dust, there are some mosquitos during the night and the location is not 800m from train station, as indicate in the site, it needs 20-30 min walking with bags. On the other hand, the staff is very pleasant and helpfull.

Unfortunately, our stay corresponded with that of a group of students, who kept us awake later than we wished. The location is not that great and the bathroom is very basic. There is only a shower and it is not a separate fixture--just a corner with a curtain.

The front desk guys were suuuper nice and helpful. but the owner has this weird thing with the electricity, so he turns off your air conditioner while you're sleeping from the hallway, has no lights on in the hallways at night, provides only 2 towels that are more like tea towels and has the gall to ask that you use them several days. i'm talking paper thin towels. the location is great and ut's the cheapest in the area, but these women do not clean the rooms at all. they just make the bed, not even wiping the sinks, mirror or vaccuming. if it weren't because the people, other than the owner, were nice, i would have left the minute i got there. another thing. no english-language channels.

There is no soundproofing between the rooms. The location was convenient. I could walk the entire city from the hotel and it was just far enough from the really touristy area to make it more pleasant. It is very close to the Acadamia and the St. Marco Museum.
