They provide a big cloth napkin (size equivalent to the City Map) and say that this is the bath towel. They don't keep Floor mats at the bathroom and say they don't use them so they don't place it. Lift is not available as said in internet. But, nobody said that the hotel is in 3rd floor where you need to climb up yourself. Toilets were smelly enough to make you run out of it, but we managed it using our Deo sprays. There is a exhaust fan which starts when you switch on the lights and tunes your ears with a humming noise even after you turn off the lights. Too high cost for this room. for the same price at Rome and Venice we stayed in much better hotels. Room lighting was poor. Even some plug points won't work. They place Safety exit map of Room 4 in Room 2. When notified they never mind to correct it. Its in front of a street where its totally calm till 20:00 and noise started from 20:00 till morning 3:00 Broken handles and shower liner. Shower flows so perfectly that it take a minute to wet your napkin. But at night and noon it flows enough to have a bath. So, bathing during the regular can be avoided to save time.

Never choose this hotel, it has to be closed. Believe me, any other choice is much better. High price for a dirty, bad smelled, old and boring place with rude staff. Poor breakfast, dirty bathroom and bed, in third story with no elevator, extra 5 euro per day for AC, very rude staff, very high price for getting nothing, . . . NEVER RECOMMENDED, it ruined our first trip to Florence. The only positive point is its good location.

Service provided was very friendly - we were hosted by the the owner and his son. Our room was very large, bathroom and room was clean. Location is near city center of Florence, all sightseeing and travel points to reach in 15 minutes. Plus: Wireless Lan available and free for guests, luggage service at the hotel after check-out time. Minus: Hotel is at the fourth floor and no evelator available (not possible for older or handicaped guests).

You can obviously see that competence of employees is worth 4 stars and that they do work for the reputation. Wireless is now working which was a surprise in 1 star hotel, breakfast we were 30min early, but we were allowed to start. We were offered electric socket adapters, free tea and good mood. Politeness is realy in the first place. Room was nice decorated and clean.

Very nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. Room was ready very early, when I arrived at 11am. Good size room and bathroom. However not a good location. At least a 15 minute walk from the train station. I did see a bus stop very near Piazza San Marco, near the hotel, but this information is not provided by the hotel on this website. Once there though, quite close to the Accademia and the Duomo. A very narrow staircase leads up to the 2nd level, it's quite an effort to drag a suitcase up and down.

I stayed in Hotel Colorado just as it was taken over by new management (June 08).I found it a good deal and the staff are very frienly. the hotel has two sides, one facing the road and another facing a courtyard. The 1st nights I got a room facing the main road which was a bit noisy in the morning with people conmuting to work (from 7-ish) if you dont mind this or intent to get up early you'll be fine. However I asked to be moved and then they put me facing the courtyard...now that was nice & quiet! I asked the new manager about the rooms in at the front and he said that they would be dealing with the noise by putting in seals. Also the towels were a bit raggy and were not changed everyday and the floor was not properly swept, but appart from that I think that overall its a reasonable good value for money hotel for young people.

First of all, your site does not show this is a one star hotel. Second, no in-room television. 12 inch TV at breakfast was on the antenna with bad reception and with no English stations. Third, I specifically called the hotel and was led to believe it was bike friendly. The Hotel was 2 flight up with no elevator. Finally, there are other concerns, the in room phone did not take phone card numbers for calls back home. The night staff did not want to turn on the heat. I had to become assertive to get this done. It was close to the landermat, bike shop, a few restaurants and farmacia. It was not internet friendly location. The map on your site leads one to believe the hotel is located between the old city and Piazza San Marco. It is not. It is located on the other side of the Piazza by about a block and a half. It's a 15 minute walk to the Duomo.

Insomma considerando i prezzi a Firenze: qualita=prezzo

DO not even try and attempt to use the map given to get there. if you dont know florence you are bound to get lost. The location is resasonable, close to a lot of the sights. Room however was very dirty, with scuffed walls and the bed cover was covered with stains. The breakfast was quite good and the staff were helpful. Also to top it off, my shower was flooding over into the bedroom. My best comparison of the room would be the same as an old public hotpital. Also the stairsa were a lot worse than i thought. i have stgayed in better backpacker places that this at a third of the price, but then again ive also stayed in 5 star hotels in vietnam for less money too. it seemed to be the same all around italy thought, very expensive for very little.

The hotel is very modest, but for four people you can't beat the price. Plus, it was within walking distance of all the beauty, charm, and main sites of Florence. We didn't need a car, bus, or taxi once! The breakfast provided was very nice especially for a cold breakfast (a lot of carbs). The staff couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Ricardo, who worked the afternoons and evenings, was a wealth of information, and spoke very good English. Both men on staff gave us great directions, information on the sites to see, and map directions-these proved invaluable. We also lucked out and hit Florence during Europa week when all the museums in Florence were free! The only downside was the lines. We absolutely loved Florence and would stay here again because of the great people. My only complaint would be that our bathroom had this strange sewer smell at times. However, they were working on buildings next door, and maybe that had something to do with it, because the room was very clean, as was the bathroom.

Our room was definitely one of the largest we had stayed at, but it did not look as nice as the pictures showed. But nonetheless, we still had a good day. There is a minimal breakfast, and I wouldn't call the walk from the train station a "few minutes." It actually seems quite long when you are dragging around your luggage on the busy streets of Florence, so I would recommend taking a bus. The staff were very nice and helpful!

Employees working there have a very strong racism. My friend suffered from a pickpocket at the train station. We went to ask some help from the reception the next morning. They were not helping at all and even scolded us appearing like it's our fault to meet a pickpocket in Italy. An employee called Joseph even fucked us!! Such an attitude to treat their customers!! He kept staring at us during our breakfast time. What did he think?! He was afraid that we would steal something from their so-called free breakfast. What does he think that we can steal? Cereal? Hot water? or the artificial-flavored peach juice?! ...

Preis Leistung stimmt daher. Die Bushaltestelle ist etwa 20 m entfernt. Das Frühstück bestand aus Croissants, Müsli, Cornflakes, Brötchen, Saft, Kaffee, Marmelade und Käse. Insgesamt sehr lecker.

The Hotel Colorado was fairly easy to find with a map, well located and the front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included, although it was limited and we always had to pick something else up to eat afterwards. The walls unfortunately are quite thin and our 'neighbors' had a young child, so we found it fairly noisy. The room was basic, but adequate and good enough for the price. Very close to the Accademia and staff will make a reservation for museums for you. I would try somewhere different next time though.

We enjoyed a three week stay in Italy at several hotels around the country, including some four and five star establishments. Of them all, Hotel Colorado was my favorite. It may not have had a spectacular breakfast but that is my only criticism. The room was comfortable, clean, charming and surprisingly, equally as pleasant as the five star hotels we experienced. The owner, Richard, was the nicest person I met on the entire trip. Stay; and when you do, do yourself a favor and get to know Richard. He may seem shy at first but he's a truly fantastic guy. It’s central location is a blessing for exploring the city but by far Hotel Colorado’s most amazing feature is it’s close proximity to one of Firenze’s most spectacular and overlooked art masterpieces, The Chiostro Dello Scalzo, frescoed by Andre Del Sarto between 1514 and 1524. IT’S RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET!! I nearly cried when I discovered that. I love this hotel. We’ll be staying with you again Richard when we come back to Florence! (Thanks again for the convenient internet access. That was so handy to have!)

Unfortunately we had a very bad experience here (our only bad experience in Italy!). The room was had was a dump - dirty, beds were falling apart, no TV, etc. We also noticed that the certificate on the wall in the room stated that the maximum rate for our room was 65 euro (we reserved at 90euro). Curious, we checked the rates of the other rooms in the hotel (posted in the entry) and found that every other room in the hotel had a max rate of 100 euro, leading us to believe that we had a lower quality room (likely NOT the room we had reserved). Since our reserved rate was higher than the room's max rate, we mentioned it to the front desk clerk at check out. He refused to give the 65 euro rate but quickly offered to lower the price to 80. His reaction was strange (seemed to be very flustered), perhaps due to a language barrier but it made me uncomfortable. Regardless of the clerk and outrageous price vs. quality, the room was a complete dump and I would absolutely never go back even for a lower price.

Very good value for money. Good breakfasts and very central for all sights. Some rooms overlook the street and might be noisy: I cannot say, because we had 2 rooms at the back of the hotel and these were very quiet. Room 16 was OK for 2 people but room 20 was bigger and better: although room 20 has beds for 3 people there were only 2 people in it during our occupancy. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed at Hotel Colorado in October 2005 with our 2 little children. If you have a lot of luggage, take a taxi from the Firenze SMN train station. Otherwise, it's about a 20 minute walk from there. Many steps to 2nd floor (more like 3rd floor), where the hotel is located, no lift/elevator, make sure you pack light. Staff friendly and speaks English. Complimentary continental breakfast. Computer in corridor for internet access. Our triple room was large and clean with a small balcony, which opened to indoor courtyard. No television, no hairdryer. Bathroom/WC large and clean. We had no problem with early checkout, reception desk open from 08:00-20:00. It's not far from the Duomo and only minutes from the Accademia. I emailed hotel to make a reservaton for us at the Uffizi and Accademia. Franco, who responded from the hotel, was friendly and persistent. He made reservations for the Uffizi and Accademia for us prior to our arrival. We would stay here again, only pack lighter.

The Colorado was easy to find, but quite a walk from the train terminal. We advise catching a bus to St Mark's which is only 100m from the hotel. The hotel is up four flights of stairs with no lift, so save some energy for this! We found the reception staff friendly, with reasonable English and helpful. They leave about 8:00pm and access to the hotel is by key.Internet is available. Our room was cooled by a fan and overlooked the street, but wasn't overly noisy. Breakfast was plentiful, with cereal and rolls, ham & cheese. There are restaurants at St Mark's. including a self-serve with a nice garden room out the back. It is easy to walk to a lot of major attractions, even the Pitti Palace. We walked back to the hotel late at night and the area still felt safe. Not a luxury hotel, but economical, convenient and clean.

Very good location just north of San Marco Piazza - walkable to everything we were interested in doing. 15 minutes from the train station - probably 10 minutes if you can read a map properly. The heat while we were there was miserable (37-40C) so sometimes the we weren't smiling at the end of our trek but we knew we would soon be in an air-conditioned space which made the hike up the 62 steps doable. Those steps are the only downside to the Colorado. We knew they existed when we booked but they are not fun at the end of a full day. Rooms are spartan but they work - a comfortable bed, adequate storage space and a small clever bathroom. Internet access available. Could use there fridge to chill our water bottles overnight. Very nice staff. Simple but gerenous breakfast of cereal, meat, cheese, bread/pastry assortment, fruit tart, fresh fruits, oj and lots of coffee (including instructions on how to use the espresso machine).

Since in Florence the prices of the hotels are really high, this property (rather an italian apartment with some rooms) can be considered suitable. It is very close to the Duomo and mercato centrale. The breakfast room was small and nice with flair. The gentelman who greeted us was really cooperative and kind. If you have lots of luggage, it might be difficult for you, since it has three floors flights of stairs. Take bath slippers with you!

Excellent little hotel! Very friendly and helpful staff. Location is nice too. Easy walk into the heart Florence, but just far enough away from the main tourist places so you can sleep with the windows open. I will definitely be staying here again if I get back to Florence.

This hotel was a great find. The location was teriffic (as long as you bring earplugs in case your room faces the busy Via Cavour) with everything within easy and safe walking distance. As a solo female, I felt perfectly fine in the surrounding area, even walking alone at night. Although they are up 2.5 flights of stairs (and don't have an elevator), the staff was MARVELOUS about helping me with my sizeable (and very heavy) suitcase in both directions. They were very friendly and quickly answered all requests (getting museum tickets & a map, ordering a taxi, etc.) without making me feel like a nuisance. I had a room with a private bathroom, and the only downside during my stay was the permanent smoky smell eminating from the bathroom. It was not quite mosquito season, but, as in most of the older buildings in Italy, there don't seem to be screens, so you might meet with several mosquitos in the warmer months. Pretty minor issues to deal with for spending quality time in such a preeminent city at such a great price. I would go back and recommend them to my friends as well.

My stay at the Hotel Colorado was excellent. It is a couple of minutes away from the accademia where the David is housed, and just 15 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio. Also just 10 minutes from the train station (walking) The room was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was better and more varied than at most b&bs. My only complaint is that there is no elevator and I had to walk up a few flights of stairs with my luggage. Would definitely stay there again.

Our stay at Hotel Colorado was everything we had hoped for. The staff was very friendly and accommodating--they spoke several languages fluently, offerred maps and hints on how to get around. The breakfast(included in the price) was the best of all the places we stayed--croissants, breads, cereals/granola, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, teas, and more! Rooms were cleaned daily. We highly recommend Hotel Colorado.

Very pleasant stay, nice breakfast and friendly staff. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that there is no divider between the shower and the rest of the bathroom which results in everything being wet after a shower, which is a little uncomfortable.

Is a 4th floor, with no elevator. The building is so old, that everythin makes noise while we walk in the rooms. Our room window was damage and didn´t closed during the nigth. Lucky for us that didn't rained. Inside our room, it was possible to see whem the ligt from de badroom next room was on, and we heard all the other noises. There is no receptionist during the night. In consequence, some guests feel free to do all the noise they can, especially when they were drunk. The only good thing is the central location, that makes possible walk to the downtown of Florence. But is not enougth to erase the bad experience. We do not recomed. In any circunstances!

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Colorado. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were clean (our even had our own private balcony!), and the location was ideal for sightseeing Florence. The breakfast included in the price was definitely a bargain!

It was a great hotel, especially for the price. It was clean and the staff was very helpful in suggesting great places to eat out. The rooms were spacious and the breakfast was good. As students on a budget, we didn't expect much, but were pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel and staff were.

Very basic room with no heating in bathroom or TV/radio. Bathroom flooded after shower owing to curtain being too short. Noisy road next to hotel. Hotel nowhere near location indicated on website (another 5 - 10 mins up the road). Hotel on 2nd floor with no lift, so not ideal for people with (heavy) suitcases. - Positive: Staff making a concerted effort to make breakfast nice.
