This is an excelent hotel in Florence, the location is unique, you are at walking distance from everywere. Very clean, very kind people that work in the hotel. The price is great. You will not regret it. What is also great it is 0.5 blocks away from the Market piazza and there are nice restaurants there. The cleannes of the rooms is amazing!

I think overall this is small conveniently located hotel. A short walk to the major attractions of Florence.

The service and the hotel was excellent. The only negative experience was noise during the night from activities like people/cars cleaning the streets and emptying garbage containers.

What a great trip we had to Florence and the Hotel Collodi definitely enhanced our stay. The hotel itself was fantastic, such a welcoming team, so clean and tidy and beautiful furnishings. The photographs show the hotel off perfectly. We had 4 rooms amongst our family and all were beautiful, very individual. The location is great for all attractions but it's not a particularly pretty street but I guess that's not what everybody is looking for. I would recommend this hotel to everyone looking for a central location whilst visiting the stunning city of Florence. If you are looking for a restaurant for a special occasion I can recommend Restaurant Alle Murate, Via del Proconsolo 16r - 50122 Firenze - Tel. 055 240618 http://www.artenotai.com/alle_murate_restaurant_palazzo_arte_giudici_e_notai.asp The restaurnat was exquisite, expensive (approximately £70 per head) but worth it as it was for my mothers special 70th birthday. I hope your trip to Florence is as special as ours was, enjoy.

Hotel was in an excellent location. Only one complaint that the shower could be better. It was over a bath with a shower curtain, even though plenty hot water.

This hotel was a real find. There are lots of budget hotels in the area and many have negative comments about noise. Hotel Collodi is on a small side street and was very quiet at night. Its location is excellent. However the map on Venere was completely useless - it doesn't even show the road the hotel is in! Fortunately the Hotel's own website had good instructions for walking from the station. The room was really great. We had asked for twin beds and the room had a double and a single. However, the ceiling was so high that there was a staircase up to what was virtually another room with the single bed plus awardrobe and a desk. The bathroom was wonderful. Modern, tiled and spacious with an excellent shower. Although this wasn't the cheapest hotel I could have booked, it wasn't bad at 84 euros and was very definitely worth the money. We were only booked in for one night but would have happily stayed much longer. Giovanni was quietly helpful and speaks very good English. Yes the breakfast was self service with prepackaged cakes etc. but it did us fine. I wouldn't hesitate to recommnend this hotel. The only posible downside is that the front desk is only manned up to 10 pm and so it might not be suitable for people arriving very late but its highly likely that they would be able to make special arrangments.

Excellent location. We had a room at the top floor which was quite spacious, with a large bathroom as well. The only drawback was that we had to climb an extra flight of narrow stairs, which is not so easy with heavy suitcases. The hotel personel were not available to help, but fortunately we did not need them (but others might...). Breakfast was spartan. Hotel staff courteous and informative.

When I saw the outside of the Collodi and the reception area I was tempted to ask myself "what have I gotten into", but I remembered comments from other Venere users that we should not judge the hotel from its outer appearances. How true! The Collodi was exceptionally clean and although the room was small by U.S. standards, it was sufficient. The staff was exceptionally helpful with directions, recommendations and reservations for museums and galleries. The location was outstanding -- easy walking distance to everything we wanted to see. I would definitely stay here again on a return to Florence.

Some confusion on arrival, due overbooking, we were given rooms for 1 night and then had to change to other rooms. Breakfast was fairly basic. Having said this, staff were friendly, rooms themselves excellent.

This hotel is tucked in a little side street very close to the Central Market Square. The staff were extremely helpful and made reservations prior to our arrival with some of the main museums and galleries. We were given an enormous room with a gallery level and 2 extra beds plus a spacious, clean and quite luxurious bathroom. We couldn't believe our luck! Unforutunately the next day we found we might have to change rooms (although we actually didn't have to in the end until the last night of our 4 night stay) but this meant we felt we could quite settle in as much as we liked as each day when we got back we thought we might have to move our stuff. That said the room we were moved to, whilst much smaller, was still clean, comfortable with a good bed. The staff were at all times friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast isn't great - coffee and juices from machines and pastries in packets - however, you can get a really good cheap breakfast in the Mercato Centrale 2 minutes away and watch the Italians do their shopping so who cares! We really liked this hotel and would recommend it to others visiting Florence.

My husband, teen son and I loved our room (404) at the Collodi. This was by far the best room out of the three hotels during our vacation to Italy. Giovanni and the others at the desk were so warm and helpful (English). The pictures don't quite describe how nice the rooms really are. Spacious, CLEAN, and a GREAT BATHROOM with TUB! Two levels both with air conditioner units and wardrobes, a small frig, TV, leather chair, desk with modem hookup, a safe, lovely tile work, and a satisfing breakfest. Much more than a two star property! Easy location, near Academia, San Lorenzo church, market and train station. Two close resturants are Osteria la Congrega and Pepo, both with good food! I also used the nearby laundromat and supermarket. I could have stayed the entire two weeks here! CIAO!

A very handy place to stay for central Florence if you can get to it! The one way system is almost impenetrable. Garage is very close & helpful. Hotel staff were very helpful & room very pleasant. Breakfast a bit basic. I would use this hotel again.

Le petit déjeuner était abject (tout sous plastique et en poudre). Indigne d'un hotel de ce prix. Sinon le reste très bien

Stayed here in the beginning of October 2005 for our honeymoon. Great place! Large, clean rooms. Big bathrooms with a good shower (a rarity in Italy, I believe!). It's near the Duomo and "the market". Loved having an in-room safe! The continental breakfast was decent. A romantic must-go-to restaurant is located at the end of the street--Osteria la Congrega. Best fresh food and terrific house wine! Ate there two of three times. Say hi to Mahyar and his niece for us!

This was our best experience out of the three cities we visited in Italy. Our only complaint would have to be the street noise associated with what seemed like round-the-clock garbage collection trucks. The accommodations themselves, however, were outstanding. (We really appreciated the loft room that was available for our teenagers.) The staff was excellent as well -- courteous, capable, and helpful in all respects.
