Highly recommendable! Ideal position to all sites and to the station as well; nice restaurants around the corner - nevertheless it's a pretty quiet hotel. Friendly and professional staff; good breakfast; nicely furbished rooms, perhaps a bit dark because of small windows. Free wireless lan. Sehr empfehlenswert. Ideale Lage, sehr zentral zu allen Sehenswürdigkeiten, nahe beim Bahnhof, gute Restaurants in der Nähe, trotzdem sehr ruhiges Haus. Freundliches, professionelles Personal. Zimmer sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet, aber wg. der kleinen Fenster etwas dunkel. Frühstück sehr gut. Freier wireless lan Internet-Zugang.

After some problems in navigating our car through the heavy traffic towards the hotel, the rest of our brief visit (two days)was most enjoyable. The location was ideal for exploring the parts of Florence that we most wanted to experience. The manager (at the reception) was available whenever we needed some information, and was exceptionally helpful and good humoured - for example, before our departure, he provided detailed information of the best route out of Florence to our later destination near Camaiore. Our general experience at Hotel City was excellent; I hope to return to the hotel soon.

I organised a stay in Florence at Hotel City with a group of 9 friends in November.I stayed in a double room (no 40) which had a TV, Minibar, double bed, sofa, writing desk and an en-suite with wet room shower & bidet.Room & en-suite were cleaned each day, and towels/soap/shampoo replaced as necessary.Windows are small making the room a little dark, but generally the group had only positive comments. There is a TV room with adjoining bar on the ground floor where you can wind down from a day full of culture. Breakfast is served in a nice room on the ground floor.Pleasant staff serve superb coffee and good tea, and you help yourself to a hearty buffet of cerals, juice, rolls, boiled eggs, cold meats & yogurt.Hotel City is very close (5 mins)to the Main Rail station(Santa Maria Novella) which links to Pisa International Airport. It is also within easy walking distance to most culural locations, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, The David etc. On your visit, you are also very close to a huge Foodhall selling local produce.I invested in cured ham and a massive slab of Parmasan. There are also a large number of stalls mostly selling leather goods at a wide range of prices. You may go mad trying to find the best deal however ! We really enjoyed our stay in Florence and Hotel City was welcoming, and Francesco didn't give me a hard time about one of our friends who missed the flight and consequently was a no-show. I thoroughly recommend this Hotel in terms of friendliness, value for money and location.

We were only staying for one night, so this hotel was fine. It was near the train terminal and a short cab ride to the airport. I would not want to spend more than a night here. The lobby and breakfast area were pretty. We did not have breakfast, so I cannot comment on that. The rooms were a little dark and stuffy for me. The staff was very accomodating and spoke English.

The City hotel is a nice hotel located closely to the railwaystation. We had no problem finding the hotel when arriving by train. It is also close to the San Lorenzo(?) market and the Duomo (only a couple of minutes by foot). I would recommend this hotel for other travelers.

Great location between the train station, major bus stopps, Duomo, and other tourist sites. We were able to stopp back at the hotel for a quick shower before seeing the next attraction or before dinner. This and the AC's came in handy with temperatures around 36°C outside. Rooms was not too spacious but clean and well equipped. Bath was clean and well equipped. Area of improvement is breakfast. But still very recommendable!

Hotel City was in a great location, close to the train station. We were able to walk to many attractions and found the room very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was lovely and the staff very pleasant. When in Florence have dinner at Trattoria SOSTANZA on V. del Porcellana. Get the chicken - the house specialty. OUTSTANDING.

I do not believe we got enough for the price we paid. The room itself was ok, but the bathroom was extremely tiny. The shower and toilet were within one foot of each other and when you took a shower the entire bathroom became wet. The hotel was in an EXCELLENT location. It was right down the street from the central mercato and a few steps from the Duomo. In addition, we got a double occupancy room and it ended up being the same as the single occupancy room, they just charged us for an additional person without the additional space. Furthermore, you will have to leave your key with the front desk clerk every time you exit the hotel. They do not have a designated room for luggage storage, they actually leave your luggage in the reception area "at your own risk." would definitely spend more money to get a better hotel.

The location couldn´t be better; close to everything and on a narrow street full of atmosphere. The rooms were tasteful with good beds and very good bathrooms. Breakfast with eggs, cereal, yoghurt, bread, cheese and excellent coffee and tea - so much better than the ordinary coffee and croissant only.

Nice hotel. It is well located, between the railway station and the centre of the town. We made the reservation by the web so I had to introduce my credit card number, here comes the negative point: despite the web affirms that they are not going to charge any pre-payment, the hotel DID. They charged the hole price of the bedroom at the moment we made the reservation and then, when we left the hotel, we paid again (we still had not realized the first charge).

My husband and I stayed at Hotel City in Florence in April 2004. It was wonderful and out of all the hotels we stayed in Italy, it was the best overall. Benedicta at the front desk was very helpful and sweet. Everyone at the hotel speaks English, so no worries there. The hotel was charmingly decorated. We would definitely stay there again!

I was very disappointed in the hotel. When asked about their private garage that is mentioned on the website and stenciled on their front door, they said they don't have one. However, they could hook me up with the local garage down the street at 24 Euros a night. I believe that the low rate I received through the website determined that they would not provide a garage. When challenged about the "Private Parking" on their door, the manager became hostile. I would never stay at this hotel again. By the way, their breakfast is mariginal.

A lovely hotel with excellent friendly staff. They made reservations at Ufizzi and Gallery de Acamedia for us. Noise level is a little high, but the double pane window system completely quiets all. We stayed in April, so warmer times might require use of air conditioning system to keep windows closed at night. But the location is the best, short walks to all points of interest and close to train station as well. Narrow little street really captures the flavor of Florence, and Michelin Green guide rated Palle d' Oro resturant is only 1/2 block away. Can't beat it, made our stay in Florence an extra pleasing experience.

This is a great place! The staff is friendly, helpful and speak excellent English. The hotel is within walking distance of the train station and less than 10 minutes from most major attractions. The staff even booked my Uffizi tickets for me prior to my arrival! The buffet breakfast is quite good, the place is spotless and very well maintained. The neighborhood is very funky with good restaurants and shops right around the corner. I'm going back to Florence in 2003 and will stay at City again.
