There was no heating in the rooms. We were freezing for 3 days. It was my worst stay ever.

Good overall experience, but: - the shower wasn't in the bathroom: it was in the room (outside the bathroom)! So you'd better ask before make your reservation if it would represent a problem. - When we checked out the reception wasn't able to accept credit cards because of a phone line problem, so we had to go out and find an ATM to get cash and go back to the hotel to pay.

great location for exploring florence. reception was friendly and breakfast was decent. The room was clean but the bathroom had a weird soury smell. Almost like they used vinegar to clean the surfaces. Apart from that, everything was good.

This hotel was located in the historic centre however it is still a bit of a walk to the Duomo (about 20 min). We walked everywhere when we stayed in Florence. The staff was nice and friendly. The breakfast was also nice. The rooms do look pretty much as you see on the website. I would reccomend this hotel.

The location was perfect, all Athens sights were within walking distance or easily reached by nearby Metro or bus. We are a family of 5 and the adjoining rooms given us were perfect - it was a suite of 2 rooms with an outer door which allowed us to lock a single door for security while keeping our adjoining rooms accessible to each other. The breakfast was generous and had a good variety of foods. It set the perfect start for our tour, every other hotel was compared with this one.

La habitación que nos tocó, con muebles antiguos, resultaba un poco oscura, los baños un poco anticuados pero limpios, es desayuno correcto, y muy amables en el trato. En cuanto a la situación, está muy céntrico y se puede ir a todas partes andando.

It was somewhat of a trek from the Train Station, but we chose to walk and not get a cab so that's on us. Not the closest to the site seeing, but a very nice quiet part of town and still a nice stroll to the center of the action. We had a huge room. I think they gave us a suite. I was able to see other rooms in the hotel and we must of lucked out. The A/C worked just fine, but we chose to leave the windows open as it was nice and cool outside. The bathroom was typical of European sized bathrooms. Both room and bathrooms were very clean. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast offered a good variety of food and drinks. Pretty easy check in and check out. We had a great stay. I'd definitely stay here again when I come back.

The room was really expansive for the price. It was quite cute but so small and the bathroom was just ridiculous. Moreover, it was a little bit noisy... And the view over the window didn't basically exist ! We could see a wall, so the room was dark, obviously. Nothing to do with the pictures with the domus shown on venere.com. I think that if we had been an maturer couple, nobody would have given us this room. But we were young, so we could accept anything employees must have thought...

Convenient location (close to the Galleria dell'Accademia museum and fairly close to the train station). Surroundings are nice and quiet. Staff is very welcoming. However, the rooms are small, furniture very basic. Our bathroom was the tiniest we've ever seen. More annoying : we stayed at Cimabue Hotel in mid-October and the heating system was not working. The room was frozen. The Cimabue hotel is located at the ground floor of a palazzo : the central heating is dependent on the other co-owners of the building. The reception told us that it was not running before the winter! Hotel facility is a bit disappointing for a 3-star hotel, although location vs. price is rather fair.

Quite a good location in Firenze, even if after four days, it was quite tiring to walk to and back from the far away monuments twice a day! The quality of the hotel was really good, especially for the price we paid (70 euro), the breakfast was all right, and the young girls were really friendly. We had a car that we parked along the kerb, they gave us a proof of our staying in the hotel, and they did not make us pay at the end (did they forget ? I don't know). Well, a very good surprise! And Firenze is such a magnificent place!

the smallest room we ever stayed in, was hard to enter not to mention moving about, toilet needed 15 minutes to refill with flushing water, breakfast was very limited in choice and quality (except for coffee, nice and strong); the reception staff were very helpful in finding restaurants and attractions nearby, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone or go back there myself

This is a sweet Italian hotel just a short ten minute stroll from the bustling (and noisy!) city center. Parking is nearby, just a few blocks away, and you'll also find some Italian Trattoria's in the area serving local cuisine for an authentic and delicious taste of Florence.

Hotel Cimabue was adequate but not elegant. Rooms are small, bathrooms smaller and the shower enclosure miniscule. Would not recommend to "plus size" travelers or those with physical limitations. It would not be feasible for them to shower at Cimabue. Also, for older or infirm folks, getting up the stairs to the second floor is and extreme challenge - especially if traveling with luggage of any consequence. We were fortunate to have our "20-something" nephews traveling with us as they were lifesavers when it came time to move suitcases up or down the stairs. The location is o.k. and there are a few good restaurants within walking distance. The Duomo and museums are also 15 minutes by foot and the Palazzo Pitti is perhaps 25 minutes. Cimabue is o.k. for a short stay (we were there 2 nights) and the price (for Florence) is o.k. also.

The price was reasonable for a two-night stay at the Cimabue. Pictures on the web actually look much better than the real thing. We have been in Firenze before and stayed at a better place, in terms of price and offered comfort. (It was sold-out when I tried to book it this time). The front desk staff were very kind and attentive to our needs, as were the two ladies in charge of the breakfast room. Good service always makes it up for any other weak performance.

I can´t praise the hotel enough.. it has probably been the best hotel we´ve stayed in so far (and we have been to a few). It´s not luxurious, but it has a wonderful and charming atmosphere and our room was fantastic, spacious, clean and with a wonderful fresco in the ceiling. From the welcoming when we arrived to the reccomendations on where to eat and what to see, you felt they really cared about their service and wanted you to enjoy your stay (a very rare thing indeed in most hotels, where the service is correct but impersonal). My only complaint was that they kept changing the towels everyday when I´m happy to use them for more than one day!. We will definitely stay again at Cimabue if we go back to Florence, and I´m reccommending it to all and sundry.:)

A room with a view? That's too much to expect in a small hotel close enough to the famous sites of Florence to be very convenient for the modern 'grand-tourist' whilst avoiding the constant bustle of the inner-city only 15 minutes walk away (less if you aim for St Marco). Small though our room was, it was quiet, very well cared for, and the plumbing (the English are fussy about this) was excellent, although the en-suite facilities made the best of a very small space. The owner and staff are conscientious about the well-being of their guests, friendly and helpful. Apart from the breakfast room and evening bar, do not expect a communal area. When we go again to visit the 'do-not-miss' places we did miss, we would probably choose the Cimabue again.

The owners of the hotel were extremely friendly and welcoming upon our arrival, even though it was nearly 11pm at night. They got us squared away with parking and helped us get our luggage into the room. The rooms were comfortable, although my in-laws room had the tiniest shower I've yet to see in Europe. The location was a bit difficult to find, though we've found that to be the way with Florence. Breakfast was excellent. It was a bit further from the major sites than other hotels, but not a bad walk.

Both the proprietor and his son were most hospitable towards us and very helpful in providing information about ongoing travel and local restaurants. At the level of correspondence between web pages and services offered we found surprises. They don't provide parking service and this is a very difficult service in Florence (between 15€-18€ by night). All other services like air condition, internet are available but we have to pay. In this hotel we felt that all was business and money, you have to pay in an additional way all the services that you like. This strategy avoids to compare this hotel with others that provide the same services but the prices displayed in internet include all services. It’s important follow all indications given in internet to find the hotel because there is only one path to arrive.

This is our second stay at Cimabue. We find both the location and the management to be superb. It is a small, family-run hotel; very welcoming and delightful. Some rooms are quite small (as we have found in many European hotels), but others are large. Ask for a large one. The management makes EXCELLENT cafe latte in the morning. There was some road construction underway when we were there (May 2004), which detracted from the ambiance somewhat. However, we understand the work will be completed by month's end or the middle of June. An excellent location - about 5 minute's walk from the Accademia.

This hotel deserves more than two stars! The owner and his son are warm, caring people who love their work. They provide elaborate verbal explanations and advice, as well as travel guides in several languages in their cheerful dining room, including one they handmade from clippings and photos, with handwritten captions. A full list of cultural events is available, as is an internet station, postage stamps and local bus tickets. They even provided an appliance in each room to curtail those Tiger mosquitoes, still rampant in November. (Oh, for window screens to be discovered in the Empire...) The only sour note was early morning traffic by our streetside window, but that's not anyone's fault. Some of the best coffee in Italy!! Thanks for the hospitality!

The woman at the desk provided a warm welcome when we arrived, later than expected. She also gave us good tips on local restaurants and on how to get out of the hotel in the early morning hours. We did not know at the time that we would have to leave in pitch blackness. The nationwide power failure occurred about two hours before our scheduled departure. The Cimabue seemed to be a very pleasant hotel. We wish we could have stayed longer. You should ignore my ratings of the "Quality of service provided" and "type and number of rooms available." I provided ratings only because the web site would not let me leave them blank.

I would have to say, this was the worst experience at a hotel, ever! The owner of the hotel surely did not understand the concept of customer first.

The owner at this hotel makes the best coffee in Tuscany, in Italy, and perhaps even in Europe. The Scottish receptionist was particularly friendly and helpful and the handsome barman was tip-top and excellent. A really wonderful and obliging owner and staff This was better than a four star hotel we had recently stayed in in Spain.

A very friendly and welcoming staff not only in respect of hotel matters but also with information regarding local restaurants, transport and places to visit.

We stayed in a triple room and it was spacious and clean except for the bathroom which was tiny with barely room to move. The management was very nice and helpful with all my requests and questions. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is in a convenient location close to St. Mark piazza and to bus stops and nearby the train station. It doesn't have an elevator which maybe inconvenient for some people, it didn't bother me. Overall is a good deal for the price. We will stay again in the hotel on our next trip to Florence.

The on-site owners are cordial and helpful, and proud of their catalog of things-to-see-and-do. Their restaurant referral (Tito's Trattoria) was quite good. Breakfast is simple but nice.

We felt for a two star hotel we received excellent service and accomodations. The Location was good; away from all the tourist noises and yet close to the attractions. The owner gave us excellent suggestions for sights and even made our two gallery advance ticket arrangements. We definitely would return to the Cimabue.

The hotel personnel are very nice and very helpful, but the service is a bit sloppy. Towels were not changed the second day of stay and the bathroom lacked both soap and shampoo on the very first day. The room, which was facing the street was pretty noisy (even if windows do have double-glass panels) and the shower was located outside of the bathroom, on the hallway. Also, the smell of the public bathroom at the end of the hall could be felt all through the hallway. But, again, the welcoming atmosphere and the kindness offered by the hotel personnel make the stay at Cimabue worth the small inconveniences.

The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. The room was great! Beautiful furniture and the ceiling had a fresco! I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Cimabue is a lovely B&B with excellent service. It is located close to the important sites and not far from the train/bus station. Although I had difficulty finding it, because I drove to Florence, the parking was in a safe and secure garage nearby. There is a wonderful trattoria called Tito's nearby. Great food, reasonably priced, and we felt welcome both times we ate there.

Excellent family hotel near to the university (and facilities like cheap cafes and Internet cafes) in the St Marc's Square area. The hotel is quite old but comfortable and within easy walking distance of the centre. It's also close to several bus routes.
