Its a decent hotel in general, but you have to go up 3 flights of stairs, so if you are traveling with elderly it could be a less convenient. It also got a little confusing because the hotel is also called another name.

The room was spacious, but situated right above two restaurants that really came to life at night! Thus not a very quiet room or night's sleep!

We should know before the arrival that the street Borgo Pinti is for people who walk and that the reception desk is on the fourth floor. When you travel with big luggages it is important to know that you will have to carry them on the fourth floor because there is no elevator.

This is a very quaint hotel up 3 flights of stairs. We loved it. The room was small, but who cares, you're in Florence! Look at the art! It was inexpensive and clean which fits my criteria perfectly. I would absolutely stay here again.

I am a solo traveller and I stayed at Chiazza for 6 days which is a long time and I really enjoyed it. The staff was very nice, the breakfast ok, the room was quite clean...except for the fact that the shower is incorporated behind the bathroom door and it took me a few minutes to realize that I had to shower directly in on the floor of the bathroom!!!! The only other inconvinience are the STAIRS!!! no lift and I had to go up and down with my luggage 4 sets of long stairs! The hotel is located in a great area, next to many many excellent restaurants and next to the Duomo too! Its pretty far from the train station (30min walk). Overall, I enjoyed my stay and I definitely recommend it.

Really good as a base for exploring Florence. We could see the Dome from our window-and hear the bells in the morning. Not suitable for anyone who would find a four-staircase climb daunting, there's no lift as far as I could tell.

We stayed in this hotel for three days. The location was great, just 5 minutes walking to the Duomo and with plenty of bars and restaurants in the surroundings. The room was quiet and clean but the bathroom was in really bad condition (made of plastic and silicone) and the beds were old and not very good. I would only recommend this place to backpackers and similar

Hotel Chiazza was up to the standard we expected from a two star reasonably price hotel. It is very central to all major tourist attractions in Florence. Everything is within walking distance. The hotel was very quiet and our room overlooked a quiet courtyard so there were no disturbing noises. The only minus was that the bathroom was very small, but having said that you are only in the room for short while. Would recommend this hotel.

My wife and I stayed here on our Honeymoon, looking to keep cost down with the US $ so weak. Hotel Chiazza was definitely "frill-less" - no carpet, very small shower - but clean. The location was great; very close to the Duomo, The Uffizi, and Accademia. Also, the people at the front desk spoke great English and were very attentive.

We were staying at 5 different locations on our trip through Italy. Two in Rome, and one in Florence, Milan and Venice. This was the cheapest hotel we rented. Breakfast was nothing spectacular, but i expected that based on other people's comments. What was spectacular was the size of our room. I think the rest of the patrons were staying inside the main building but our prepaid double was actually a separate apartment inside the court yard. We had a very large bedroom with a large double bed and a single in the corner. Large bathroom, a kitchen with a fridge and a stove and another room in the back of that with a couch. The area was close to the total area of three other hotels I booked on this trip. It was all very new. You can still slightly smell the new paint. On the negative side the shower was not constructed properly so the water was spilling on the floor, but I would imagine that this minor oversight would be corrected soon. Also the was no TV which was unfortunate. Still compared to the room I had in Milan and the second hotel I booked in Rome it was very very great. Location isn't too bad either, 7-10 min walk to the Piazza de Lorenze and the Duomo, and not an overly long walk from the train station. It's just far enough from the busy end to be relatively quiet. I would stay there again, but as I know from the past experiences the kind of room you get is always luck of the draw.

The room and staff were fine. The breakfast was a buffet with a good selection. There is a supermarket only a minute away and it's near all the main attractions. The only negative thing: the room was in the front of the hotel and it wasn't sound proofed. This meant, for example, that you could hear every single word of conversation from the restaurant outside. At one point a van outside the restaurant had its engine running. It was so loud the whole room vibrated. This was at 1am, then later on you could hear roadworks.

The staff was very friendly, also english speaking. Bathroom is qiet interesting, but didnt seemed to be a big problem fore young couple like us. Room was clean, location is very good, breakfast is poor, but we eat mostly in a restaurants or cafeterias because there are no food stores. Florence is definetely beautiful and also not a cheap city, i suggest that this offer was ok, still you have to have cash on you to get even the basic things.

The stairs were terrible! No elevator. But the breakfast very good and the personel extremely nice and helpful. We did't find anyone who spoke English however, as told on the web. The surroundings are not beautiful, but it's right in the centre of the city, so it was perfect for us. We had a double room with shower. A bit impractical with the shower on the wall. The floor went all wet.

It's such a nice place very close to Duomo, Galeria del Academia and Santa Croce. I recommend u this hotel, with very nice employees who are always smiling, a breakfast with the boss'coffes and Capuccino (please, ask them...u won't regret!).

Hotel Chiazza is a budget hotel. The price was exactly what I was looking for. The rooms were very spartan. I shared a bathroom - it was clean just a little bit down the hall. The whole reason I picked this hotel was location. You couldn't ask for a better location. Less than a five minute walk to the Duomo and Santa Croce. I would not recommend this property to anyone who cannot do stairs. You need to go up two steep flights of stairs with no elevator to get to this hotel. This could be problematic with anyone who has physical difficulties. If you are looking for an inexpensive hotel with no frills that is centrally located this is your place. Only problem I had was that my room faced the street which was VERY noisey.

The Hotel Chiazza is a small hotel a couple of flights of stairs up from the street. (I don't think there's an elevator, so the stairs might be an issue for the elderly.) We got a warm welcome and a thorough explanation of using the key and (after hours) the secret code to enter the hotel. Our room was clean and adequately sized for our needs. The in-room bathroom includes a shower that isn't enclosed, so the water goes everywhere in the bathroom when you're showering; but a nice wipe-down of everything with the towel was all that was required after a shower. The hotel has a very nice breakfast--several breads and rolls, cereal, yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and coffee/cappuccino/tea. The hotel is located about a 10-minute walk east of the Duomo. It's probably a 4-5 minute walk from gelato at Vivoli's, one of our favorite gelato spots. The restaurant Cibreo is also just about a 5-minute walk away--great creamy polenta. And the hotel is right across the street from La Giostra, a wonderful restaurant with engaging staff and lots of good food. There are plenty of Internet access points, restaurants, banks, and stores lining the streets around Hotel Chiazza, and the major sights in beautiful Florence are within walking distance if you're in reasonable shape. This was my first stay and my wife's second stay at Hotel Chiazza, and we'd be happy to stay here again the next time we visit Florence.

Bathroom doubles as shower so everything in there gets wet when one showers so the shower should be the last thing you do or you are tramping around on a wet floor and tracking it all over the rest of the room.

Chiazza Hotel is a nice hostal. It´s not like an hotel, but it´s close to the center, and the people who work there are very nice. The price is really good. The hostal was clean. The only problem I found is that if you have one room of the front part of the house (the main street), it´s a bit noisy, because there are some restaurants in the street (unless in summer, and the street is very narrow), with the other rooms, no problem. I recomend this place, and if I come back to Florence this will be one place I´ll try to get. The breakfast is very good for the price I paid. I was in a room withouth bathroom, and it´s cheaper, I never found anyone in the toilets, and it was ever clean.

Pros: The staff was extremely friendly. The location is outstanding. The rooms are clean. The breakfast is very adequate. Cons: I did not have a television as stated on Venere.com. The decoration is very lackluster and dreary. The price for what you get is high, although I imagine that has to do with the mind-boggling amount of tourists in Florence.

The hotel is located close to the main attractions for Florance and the train station. The staff are friendly, rooms are spacious (double rooms). The only drawbacks would be the 2 floor climb as there is no elevator (travel light) and there is no sign on the street, but there was a street number, so we found the place. This is a budget hotel in Florence. The location is good and the staff was helpful and friendly. Rooms were small and the bathrooms were even smaller. The hotel is up several flights of stairs and there is not elevator, so probably not a good choice for those with mobility issues or lots of luggage. If you're looking for a reasonably priced place to sleep located near the points of interest, this is a viable choice. No frills, but adequate.

I stayed in a single room. Eventhough the room is small, it is no problem because it is clean. It was no problem at all, that the bathroom was not in the room, it was an extra room, which was also clean. The clientele I think is people who don´t want to spend too much money for a hotel, but still stay close to down town, which is the case when you stay in Chiazza. Overall I liked the hotel and would stay there again, no problem at all.

The welcoming, front desk service, assistance were good. Breakfast was in a good level for a B&B. I would go their again if i return to Firenze it is very close to all main areas in Firenze. the 4 problems we have encountered are: 1. the air conditioning system did not work (they had a problem with the electricity). 2. the shower is built in an incompetent way, and it is hard to keep the floors dry. 3. since the shower is wet, the black shoe marks are left on the wet floor, and it give a "dirty feeling". 4. no elevator, so if you have problems with stairs, it is in the second floor.

The stay at Hotel Chiazza was fine. The Hotel would be hard to find if not taking a taxi from the train station or the airport. It is down a sidestreet and has a tiny 6" x 12" sign along with another hotel that is in the same building. Upon arrival, you have to walk up to the three flights of stairs (pack light) and then are finally warmly met by the family run staff. The stay was great. It is a quiet part of town, which is good due to the walls and windows being paper thin. Of course that is like every hotel in Europe though. About a five to ten minute walk to the Accademia and the Duomo.

Situated in a quiet street, the hotel is really well located: 10 min to the Duomo by feet and all other spots are close. Nice staff, good breakfast. Possible to park your car in the hotel courtyard for 10€/day (ask to book the space). Nice room, except the shower which floods the bathroom ground when you use it. Overall, a good hotel, we would not hesitate to go back there.

Rooms on the street side are noisy because the narrow street is lined with buildings that reflect and amplify sounds. The windows are double-pane and cut out much of the noise, but make sure to arrange a courtyard-side room if you want peace and quiet. Otherwise, the hotel was an excellent value: clean, convenient, and cheap.

I stayed there twice last year (speaks for itself). Perfect location, very nice and helpful staff. The room facing the backyard was perfectly quiet. Very strong air condition, regulation of temperature degrees possible (room wasn't hot even without it though I stayed there in July). Bathroom small but had everything you need, everything very clean and new looking. The room I booked at my second visit didn't have its own bathroom, liked it that it had a washbasin. No air condition this time. Breakfast was sweet only but sufficient. Would have liked some cheese though.

In Uk we would call it a guest house rather than hotel. Close to Duomo in pedestrianised end of Borgo Pinti, so excellent there. Bus routes are hard to comprehend de to narrow one-way streets, but for info, the bus stop towards the station is just round the corner, but coming back it is 2 streets further south. Pleasant helpful German girl was on duty some of the time, though not all staff had good enough English for non Italian speakers. Good breakfast but poor quality expresso coffee. (best coffee we had on trip was in a tiny pizza shop 100m from far end of Ponte Vecchio) Double room 7 was clean but very small with large comfy double bed, en suite shower room(wet room) with bidet. Could just see top of duomo through the roofs and aerials. Unfortunately the wall between room 7 and 8 is paper thin! It was less embarrassing listening to next door making love and shouting and noisily talking on the phone as room 8 had italian occupants. Had they been English, I could have understood every word! 3 flights of steep stone stairs from ground to hotel. Not for the infirm or anyone expecting a Marriott hotel. No bath available anywhere ,only showers. No kettle and only 2 power points (used for bedside lights). No fridge. Overall it was similar to my expectation at 60 euros a night as I have visited Florence,Bologna and Rome on a budget before.

The location was pretty close to historic center and the staff were very kind. The breakfast was much better than expected: they had little cakes & blood oranges in addition to the standard roll & sweet croisant. But stop and think for just a moment: this hotel is rated positively by travelers who don't mind sharing a bathroom, or that the hotel is located near a busy bar/cantina area. If you _know_ you'd prefer a private bath, avoid the place. The check-in is up two flights of stairs, after which you may end up going back down with your luggage and walking to another building. If you are older, have children, or prefer a more "relaxed" feel, this is not your hotel. My wife and I were a little disappointed, but this was all that was available because of a big trade fair in Florence the week we were in town. As far as we could tell all rooms have shared bath. The bathroom we shared with two other rooms was pretty clean, but the situation still feels strange. The room is VERY simply decorated. The TV in the room didn't work; the table lamps didn't work so the only light was an outdoor-use floodlight installed on the indoor wall. It was fairly quiet, as long as persons in other rooms weren't making any noise by playing the radio or TV. If you're a young, single traveler or backpacker, you'll probably love this hotel.

But the hotel is very central - 300 m from the dome - and for the price of 30,- € and eg the very big room - and only for three nights - it was a very good decision to choose this hotel !

This was my first time in Florence. I found the Hotel Chiazza to be very clean with a friendly staff. The young woman working afternoons and evenings was particularly friendly and helpful. The location is good being minutes away from the Duomo and close to good restaurants and convenient to the train station as well. Our room looked out to the courtyard which is shared with residential units. We did get woken up in the a.m. with motorbikes starting up for work, however, we know this is out of the hotel's control.

If you are stone deaf, this hotel rates as an excellent choice. I stayed here for three nights, for 45 euros per night, in early October. The price included a small room, a shared bathroom, and breakfast. The rooms, which face the Via Borgo Pinti, are not soundproof to the outside, and sleeping without earplugs before 1:30 am and after 5:30 am is not possible. The stone walls of the Borgo Pinti conduct ALL sounds from the street level, acting as an amplifier. Sleeping with the windows closed, blinds down, curtains drawn will not aid in blocking noise. You will be able to hear a key turning in a lock at the street level three floors below. The hotel is located close to Santa Croce, in a small and handsome neighborhood. The room contained a single bed, a sink, and a bidet which directly faces your pillow. This is either extraordinarily practical for those inclined, or a real eyesore. The sheets and towels are clean and well-cared-for. The breakfast, though touted as exemplary, would be best described as what you would give your neighbors if they suddenly descended on you at 6:30 am: fruit, room temperature yogurt and butter, one flavor of juice, coffee, and slices of bread. A good place for dropping your luggage and being elsewhere. Bring earplugs.

I would not recommend the cheaper rooms. The room we had was in a separate part of the building and was directly above the noisey street. Also, if you have bikes, take them to your room and lock them. Ours were locked it the courtyard, out of sight from the street. Some thief came with a bolt cutter and cut the lock and stole our bikes on the first night of our vacation, thus really making our vacation much less pleasant than it might have been.

The long 2 flights of stairs to the reception were difficult with heavy luggage, but the staff was very pleasant and helpful and the location convenient.

Staff was very helpfull and friendly (english speaking). Hotel was close to sights, restaurants, shops and station. Everything was nice and clean. Bathroom was private (we asked for a private bathroom) but not connected to room, so we had to run with our towels down the hall which was a bit strange. It was very big and clean though.

Hotel Chiazza has an excellant location - a slight walk from the main Dome. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Across the street is a small local restaurant that was packed when we discovered it. Very intimate and inviting. Overall, a good stay.

I stayed 2 days in florence and the young couple that were running the hotel for his dad while i was there were very helpful and lovely people.i bumped into them on my last night in a square where music was playing and they managed to stear me home in the early hours of the morning after i had had a few too many but not enough. I will be staying there when ever i return.

I was already impressed with the hotel and especially with the warm and friendly service when I suffered a broken leg (my own fault, at the Palio in Siena), and the level of service got even better. Oh yes, it is in a great location for anyone wishing to visit Florence as a tourist (and is especially close to the hospital, which turned out to be a blessing!)

Great hotel!!! Perfect location, near the duomo and all the nice Piazza... great service, staff very helpful! The single room without bathroom was pretty ok, clean, with a sink and a bidé. The outside bathroom was ok too. Little noisy when the room has a window to the street. Great value! Very good breakfast included in the price. I will totally recommend this hotel!

Really nice small hotel - great value for the money. When we arrived, the owner informed us that he had overbooked for one of the two nights, however he had made arrangements for us to spend our second night in the Hotel upstairs (which was more stars, more money, but he covered the difference in cost!) - so what could have been very inconvenient turned into a lucky "misfortune"! Great breakfast too! The shower was a bit different, just a shower head and a curtain around a section of the floor in the bathroom, but not bad! The room was very spacious but a bit empty and not the prettiest, certainly clean though!

This hotel is excellent value. It is close to the Duomo, in a quiet side street. To reach reception we had to climb two flights of stone stairs, so it would not be suitable for anyone with heavy luggage, or disabled. We were in a double room, which was spacious and quiet. The air conditioning was excellent, and silent. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. My only criticism of the accommodation would be the very small narrow bathroom. It was spotlessly clean, with shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin and constant hot water, but SMALL.

This is your standard budget hotel, but is nicely kept up with very helpful and friendly staff, a nice little breakfast buffet, and perfectly adequate rooms. If you want a hotel to live in so you don't need to go out into the city and has all the luxuries, this isn't it. If you just want a place to crash which is clean, safe, doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and has a decent breakfast, this is the perfect place. I stay here every time I'm in Florence.

Very nice hotel close to center of Florence, with very friendly and helpful staff. The street is very narrow and can only be entered from one direction, which complicated our arrival. Rooms were large, but air conditioning could not be lowered below 24C, which was warm for sleeping. Our teens loved the shower/toilet combination, which was unique to say the least. Stairs to the hotel were challenging for older people.

For a 2-star hotel, it's perfectly adequate and is in a convenient location with a friendly, helpful staff. Rooms are sparse but very clean and there's a pleasant breakfast room. The pedestrian-only block keeps the neighborhood quiet but voices carry pretty easily in the hotel. They were having plumbing problems one of my two nights so expected no hot water in the morning--but I was forewarned. There's no elevator and the hotel is on what Americans consider the third floor so luggage transport can be an issue. There is a computer for guests to use. But no phone service from the rooms.

Quaint, cute, but don't bring a lot of luggage because it is a two story walk up stairs to get in. Also, driving is discouraged because it is in the middle of Florence, so a cab would probably be best. You can get a SMALL car there, and parking is another ten Euro/day. Personnel are very nice, speak English, and very helpful. There is a good restaurant right across the street as well. If you want to see downtown Florence, you can walk to it from here.

We had a lovely stay at the Chiazza. The welcome from the staff was really nice. Nice breakfast though could have maybe offered some cheese or ham instead of cakes!! great coffee. Room was fine but shower bit of a problem with slipping! Would definitely stay again. It is four flights of steps but not steep ones and its really not a problem. Great value for money. Staff were really excellent and welcoming. Perfect location too...

Only real complaint was that room was noisy. Was very tiny and faced onto street which was noisy all night from bars & motorcycles. Other rooms I believe are much nicer though I was just in a bad one. And though I didn't care, there was no TV as advertised.

We arrived in Florence and found our way to the hotel easily as the map was very clear. the thing with florence is that they have a comfusing way of numbering properties so we were puzzled when we saw two properties of the same number. the staff were very helpful and friendly - one morning we decided to lie-in instead of have breakfast, but at half 11 Innes made us a really good breakfast and provided good conversation- thanks.the location is perfect - right in the middle of everything, so you can escape to the room. Room not very quiet, sounded like we were next to the laundry room so the washing machine was rattling all the time. the room was well equipped except the air conditioning failed,we were overheating. Price was good value. A good stay.

We can really recommend this hotel to everybody. The situation very near to all interesting places , nice restaurants nearby , a small private parking (you don't need your car in Florence) , the more than friendly and helpfull owners and staff (an extra mention for "Ines" !). We reserved this hotel after we read the comments on venere.com and we are not disappointed at all , on the contrary. We will certainly come back to this hotel on our next stay in Florence. http://ferced.skyblog.com/
