The best thing about the hotel was its location which is, as the name suggests, central. Furthermore, there is a convenience store next door, which was very useful. The room looked over the street and was quite noisy, one night I was even awoken by a group of inebriated Americans chanting in the street. Apart from this, the background noise of the street added to the atmosphere. The website claims the room has private external bathrooms, but ours was actually being used by other people, too. Incidentally, this worked in my favour one morning when I managed to blame a fearful odour on somebody else and to this day my wife knows none the better! The hotel breakfast is not very appetizing but does encourage one to try the other local eateries. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is a parking service for €24 for 24 hours - the hotel is not best accessed by car, although it can be managed.

The hotel staff was excpetional. We stayed an extra two nights in Florence and they were very accomodating! The only minus is that it was in a pretty noisy area.

Beware. This hotel advertises private bathrooms in the room. No! There is only a sink! The bath is down the hall! False avertising!! Staff was fairly friendly, but not very accomodating to a variety of requests. No extra towels. Towels are to used for 2 days - no exceptions.

I stayed 2 nights at Hotel Centro and it was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It is not a hotel. It's very similar to a crappy hostel. The breakfast is very small and horrible. The shower does not have a tub. The shower head shoots water onto the ground of the bathroom floor near a drain in the middle of the bathroom. I've never seen something like this before. The bathroom is soaked after showering. There was no A/C and we could not open the windows, because the sewage smell from the streets made us want to puke. In the morning, the construction and the people going to work was so loud that we could not sleep. We paid 180euro per night, which was a huge rip off. Stay at Hotel Corona about 4 blocks away. It has A/C, the rooms are much larger, the bathroom is nice, and they have an awesome breakfast. Plus, the price was 160euro per night. Go figure.

The external Private bathroom wasn't private. Located within walking distance from SMN train station and also walking distance from anything else in central Firenze. The hotel is located one block from the dome were all sightseeing begins.

As we get this room with a very low price it was good to stay in this place, except the quietness of the room because we were on street side, but for few days it 's ok.The hotel is very near of the whole main places to visit, it was very nice.

There was a problem with our room the first night and we ended up with an extra bed in a single room which was cramped and had lot of street noise. However, as promised, we were moved to a double room with double glazing. This was spacious and modern. We were very happy. The location is also excellent - very central.

Hotel Centro was a fantastic place to stay. The staff were very accommodating as we were staying 3 nights and then going on to Pisa. However Pisa did not have our booking and Centro had our room available for the next 2 nights. The staff were very helpful, one lady in particular. The were many front desk staff, all were nice bar one old man who was a very very grumpy person. Overall though, the place is a fantastic hotel and close to everything.

Overall, it was OK. The location is great. Not far from anything. My only problem was that I booked a double with a "private, external bathroom". But it turned out to be a shared, external bathroom. It was fine but not what I was expecting. Also, one of the employees was always "very busy" when we tried to ask a question.

This place is good if you want to travel inexpensively, but the noise level was pretty bad in the early morning hours. The other thing was that if you decide stay there during the cold months, be aware that they turn off the heat in the ealy morning. It can get a little uncomfortable to sleep in the cold. The people that run the place are nice and try to make you feel at home. It was good if you don't mind noise or being cold.

THe hotel is very near to the Duomo and within walking distance of most sites and the station. The location is as per the map, however it is quite easy to miss it as the sign is not obvious. The room we stayed in was small, but it was one of the rooms with an outside bathroom. This was not a problem, as we were the only ones who used it. Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend the hotel for someone on a budget.

The hotel is in a central aerea of Rome, perfect for all sightseeing activities. I booked a single room which was really small, but ok. The good thing was that the room was quiet, as it was not on the street-side of the hotel. I should have said that I wanted a non-smoking room, because the smell in my room was really bad.

Except the initial check-in process things were okay. The staff at the time of check-in didn't mention anything about the private bathroom. Due to this we used the bathroom through our stay constantly with the thought that somebody else might/want to use the bathroom.

Our room was on the street and it was very noisy. I had to use earplugs in order to mute the moped races and other traffic. Smoking was allowed in the hallways, which made it quite unpleasant when others smoked outside of our room. We did enjoy the location of the hotel in relation to San Lorenzo Market and the Trattoria Guelfa was excellent for modestly-priced, tasty dinners.

The location of Hotel Centro is excellent, within easy walking distance of many major attractions. The rooms and facilities are acceptable, clean and well maintained. However, the proprietors are not particularly friendly, and often seemed a little put-out with having to help.

Overall, Hotel Centro is true to its name. Centrally located in the heart of Florence... so much so, that you may as well just set your bed up on the sidewalk and save your money. It's very loud and I slept only because I was truly exhausted. The service is not exactly gracious. The blond woman at the front yells on the phone all day without taking into consideration that guests are in the vicinity. Asking her for help is like asking for permission to pull out one of her teeth. The brunette woman has more awareness of service and kindness as does the waiter at the breakfast room... Not the most relaxing place... Stressful people in a stressful city... However, thankfully, I didn't pay much. 37.50 euros a night.

Rooms were way too loud, and it was almost impossible to drive to the hotel with the map and directions provided. There are plenty of hotels in the center of Florence that are inexpensive and much better apportioned and located. I wouldn't stay here again.

Absolutely fantastic. Best place we stayed in Italy. Very very close to the centre, 5 minutes from the Cathedral (Duomo) and within walking distance of *everything*. The hotel was lovely, we had a balcony overlooking the courtroom garden. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast a good start to the day. Very professional and amazing value for money - by far the best value. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and when we come back to Florence stay here! Thanks so much.

The Centro Hotel is centrally located, which is great. The staff is (by in large) quite nice and helpful, and the breakfast was very good, with excellent espresso/etc. provided gratis. (Very nice touch). There were, however, a couple hiccups.... We chose this place because they accepted VISA for payment, however they tried lying to us (one manager said the credit card machine was broken, which turned out not to be the case AT ALL) to get us to pay cash. The result was that I had to argue with the night manager for 20' to put the room charges (and phone) on the VISA. They even wanted to take my last bit of cash to pay for phone calls (again, instead of adding $6.75 to the room charges!). This was beyond frustrating, and was completely ridiculous. This one incident ruined the stay at this hotel. I would recommend nailing down in your correspondence if you intend to pay via credit card.

Very nice staff, very clean rooms and bathrooms, and extremely convenient when traveling to Florence via train; it's prob a 5 -- 10 minute walk from the train station. Two probs: the rooms are right on top of the noisy street, so be prepared to experience some noise at night if you get a room facing the street. But, for the price, you can deal with it. Also, be prepared for the song and dance they give when you're trying to pay with a credit card...the proprietor was bouncing around with this story like one of snow white's seven dwarves. They want cash and cash only...for some reason every single place i dealt with in italy only wants cash, so be prepared. but overall, when comparing what i paid and how nice the staff were and clean the rooms (and especially the bathrooms) were, i would highly recommend this place. i would certainly stay there again.

Having stayed at the Centro before i was pleased to return. The room was clean and of good size. there were a couple of negative points - the mangement kept turning the air conditioning off during the day (guessing that no one would be in their rooms) and at night 'because its not needed'!! Secondly we were told the day before we checked out that we would need to pay cash as the credit card validation machines line was down and wouldn't be repaired until after the weekend (we were checking out on a Sunday). After a anxious night we went to checkout and to explain we hadn't got the cash, only to be told that we could pay by credit card anyway! Made us wonder what was going on. Otherwise a good hotel in a good location, and i'd be prepared to stay there again.

Really good value for central Florence, especially as a single traveller, and with a decent breakfast included. Very convenient for all the sights. Slight problem that the street outside was fairly noisy at night - and there wasn't the promised hairdryer in the room! On checkout I paid cash, but wasn't given a receipt, which always worries me when I've given my credit card number to guarantee a booking - in case I get charged on that, too.

I had been at Centro a few years ago and have tried to book it every time I have been to Florence since. The location is great, the rooms & bathrooms are always clean and the environment has plenty of character. The area is noisy at night (people returning from a late night out and nearby market starting before dawn), but not much they can do about it.

I recommend Hotel Centro for every traveller, it was clean and in a perfect location. close to the main street but still in a quiet area. It was very clean and the staff was helpful and courteous. Breakfast was great as well and the size of the room was better than expected. I don't recommend staying in a room with no air in the summer though. We didn't realize that the air they meant was a ceiling fan and at times it was a bit warm. Other than that it was nice and cozy. Great for the price as well....

My boyfriend and I stayed in room 107 for a single night in a double room with ensuite bathroom. It was a cozy room but the ceilings were very high so it was very comfortable. The room, sheets, towels, and bathroom were very clean which was the most important to us. The pillows were nice and fluffy too! The breakfast was really good. We had yoghurt, croissants, toast, juice, coffee/tea, cheese, and even fruit(which is hard to come by in Europe). The location was perfect, just 5 minutes to the Duomo (city center). The room is right on the stree so it can be noisy with the cars and people, but we were able to sleep fine at night. Just to warn you about the bathroom, don't be shocked that the shower is on the same level as the rest of the bathroom and you pretty much just pull a curtain around the corner. The water amazingly stayed inside the space since I guess the floor is slanted downwards and the shower head is right above the drain. But the water pressure was good so it was all together not a bad set up. Apparently showers are commonly designed this way in Europe. One more thing was that they had told us check in was noon but when we got there, they told us the room wouldnt' be ready until 1pm. It was ok though since we just left our bags with the hotel and started sightseeing. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would stay again with Hotel Centro.

The room was very clean and the staff for the most part did not speak much English, but went out of there way to be helpful. Maps were provided and breakfast was very good. The coffee was especially tasty and even though we didn't require the service, they will make various coffee drinks and provide wine if requested. There are lifts to the room which was nice as well. Over all very good value for the reduced price we paid (80eu/night). Only real down fall was the noise from the streets and people out and about. Closing the window helps and I'm sure this is a common situation in any establishment so close to all the major sites. We were also allowed to check out and keep our bags at the hotel for the remainder of the day.

It was a good hotel and very central in florence. The room was nice as was the bathroom and the staff very friendly. For the price that we paid by booking through venere.com, which was less than half the normal price for the room it was great value for money and well worth the 59e a night. The normal price for the room that we booked was 140e and probably a bit pricey for what you actually get.

Our stay at Centro was great. If you are visiting from the US and never stayed in a European hotel, dont expect a US size hotel room. The room was more than enough for our needs and very clean. In addition, the staff was great. My friend was sick on our day of check out and they let her stay well after the checkout out time and were extremely helpful. Although I booked a double-room we got a single room with a king-size-bed. This was the only this which disturbs us. Staff was really friendly and helpfully - gave us a road map for finding the garage. I missed the remark that it is bearly possible to find a free parking place within the centre. We had to pay for the garage 22 Euro/day (an this was one of the cheapest in the surrounding!). This was really a bad surprise! Otherwise, if we come again we will go there by train. The small street is loud in the morning because the market (mercato san lorenzo which is nearest) opens very early and the people are passing with their handcarts. Breakfast was okay.

My boyfriend and i chose a room with an external bathroom to save on some money. The bathroom was just a few steps away from our room and we could always get in there whenever we needed to, and importantly it was clean. I was a bit disappointed with the size of our actual room though. It looked like it was perhaps once a bathroom or something and converted into a room. But it was always clean - very practical and functional as opposed to cosy. The breakfast was fine - cereal and bread or croissant (not so good if you have a hangover). Good mexican bar nearly opposite the hotel that has a good happy hour 5.30 - 7.30 with half price beer and cocktails. Have the mojito !

We only spent one night at this hotel and the accommodations were very comfortable. The showerstall was small, the continental breakfast adequate. A complementary bottle of wine was in the room as was promised for internet registration. The only negative item was the attitude of the staff person on our arrival. She appeared to be more concerned with her work than giving us full attention. After we stood there for return of our passports, she said they would be returned in an hour. We had a difficult time finding the elevator. We had mistaken it for a linen closet as there were bundles of towels on the floor of the elevator. We went back to her for help. She came over and showed us, never offering any explanation or making any remarks to make us feel comfortable. We felt like we "should have known" this was the elevator. This same staff person, however, did give us a city map and directions on how to get to the train station. We do not consider this staff person's attitude to speak for the entire hotel as we did encounter a very accommodating housekeeper who answered our questions. We would stay at this hotel again.

This is a two star hotel, which seemed like a nice three star hotel to us. The rooms were spacious, and the bathroom nice. The location is perfect, only a couple blocks from the duomo! It is enough off the main tourist paths that it's quiet and there are reasonably priced restaurants in the area. Contrary to the map on the site, we would recommend not driving here, there is no place to park, or to stop and unload bags, as it is a mostly pedestrian street. Overall, very good value!

An extremely well located hotel, and reasonaly priced by comparison to others of the same standard in Florence. Our decision to forego an en-suite bathroom made a significant difference in price with little inconvenience, as the bathroom was directly opposite the room, and for our use exclusively. Breakfast was more than adequate, and the hotel was quiet and nicely decorated. Our room was quite small, but that too was reflected in the price. All in all we felt very lucky to have found this hotel, as it was of a very good standard considering our low budget by Florence's standards.
