I am quite content with my stay in this hotel. Hotel staff are extremely kind/pleasing and friendly. Hotel is located about 5 to 7 minutes walk from the Central station and the road leading to the hotel could be a bit lonely at night. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to others and would definitely stay again.

Couldn't ask for a better location then this. Everything is accessible nice restaurants and all the places of historical significance we could see Duomo from our window just a few buildings down. We walked from the station easily. The written down instructions at Venere website were more helpful and easier to follow then the map itself. Best way to reach is to follow the instructions from Venere.com and the moment you cross 'Best Western Premier Hotel Laurus' look inside the alley next to Best Western and you'll see the sign inside. Remember the hotel is on the 2nd floor inside the specified building. Great value for money. Breakfast needs improvement.

We, two retired couples, had a wonderful stay in Florence. The hotel is housed on the second floor in an old building with a wide impressive staircase. We needed to ring a bell to gain entrance through a large gate that was closed. The lift is tiny, only capable of handling two persons in comfort. The reception is cordial and helpful. The rooms are large, clean and adequate. Breakfast was fine with plenty to eat. Highly recommended.

Very helpful staff. Great location. After a short walk from the train station and a quick stop to read a map we printed in advance, we found it immediately.

We got off to a rocky start at this hotel but ended up enjoying it very much. We wanted a hotel that did not require walking upstairs. Our research showed that the Centrale had an elevator. Unfortunately, it was not until after we checked in that we learned the elevator had no access to the 3rd floor where our room was. Thus you could take the elevator to the 2nd floor but then had to walk upstairs to the 3rd floor. They had given us this room because it had a view (we would call this a “partial” view). Breakfast was served on the 2nd floor so this meant walking down and up a flight of stairs for breakfast and then taking stairs a couple of more times a day. After we asked for a room that did not require stairs, they were able to accommodate us on the 2nd night and moved all of our belongings for us. The staff was very nice and made dinner reservations and a reservation to see Michelangelo’s David. The breakfast was good and the rooms are comfortable. It’s a good location, very close to the Duomo with many shops and restaurants nearby. We do not recommend driving in Florence!

Hotel Centrale is very...central--in other words, it is conveniently located. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the breakfast provided consisted of many delicious choices. It would be helpful if the desk help spoke a little more English, but why quibble; we would definitely go back.

We stay in Florence for three amazing and marvellous days. The hotel and the staff were very friendly, nice and accomodating and really, really, "Centrale". We hope to go back to Firence early and we'll repeat at the Centrale. We shall recommend also the hotel to our family and friends

Those looking for a "hotel" experienece might be disappointed. The Centrale presents more like a pension than a hotel. It is on the third (U.S.) floor of what seems to be an old office building. The conversion is well done. The interior is nicely decorated and the rooms are large from my experience of small hotels in Europe. The elevator is very small - fitting only two people with luggage. The location is superb - easy walk to the Duomo and the train station. The included breakfast was ample but not exciting - reminded me of Amsterdam food. The front desk got us a same-day reservation for an art museum to avoid the long line.

Great location but on a pretty quiet street. Could see the very top of the Duomo from the window in the room which was very nice. Breakfasts were good and the staff was helpful, other than one dinner recommendation (Osteria All'Antico) for a place that was busy, not great and had almost only American tourists. Instead, try La Congrega, which was small, quiet, great food and great service.

The directions to the hotel could be better. I came through a maze of seedy streets which was a bit scary. Then I discovered that coming and going from the opposite direction brought me to the Duomo and a lovely part of Firenze!

This is an excellent hotel! I went with 2 other friends and stayed for 3 nights. The staff was so kind and thoughtful - just couldn't do enough for their guests including recommending restaurants with special discounts from the hotel. There are hotel signs posted on the beginner of the street from both the train station and market direction, not as difficult to find as some other reviews. The breakfast was full of varieites and plentiful. The sitting area and breakfast rooms are both cheerful and comfortable. Due to the 24 hours receptionist service, there is always someone to make a cup of cappucino or fetch you a pot of tea after breakfast hour. Nice to have the free internet access if you don't have your laptop. The rooms and bathrooms are quiet, bright and in fairly new condition, they are also spacious with ample lighting. The elevator was a newly added feature for this beautiful grand building, altough it is small, but it does the job for hauling heavy luggage! We are thankful for that! Most of all, we (all three of us, Tina, Anglea and Mimi) are thankful for the hotel's staff, the location, the facilities and the reasonal price. We'll be back!

My son (2 year old) and I stayed here in January with two friends who shared another room. We enjoyed eery minute of our stay. We had a little trouble finding the hotel walking from the train station. I guess we define a street differently than whoever made the directions on the hotel's location page, but with a GPS, we found it. After we arrived, everything went perfectly from arrival to departure. Not a single complaint. Located close to everything, good breakfast, quiet rooms, and helpful, friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.

My wife,adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Centrale. It was our first time visiting Italy, and we found the staff and room, as well as the location to be totally top notch! The atmosphere of the hotel was very warm with caring and personable employees. This hotel is basic but clean and very centrally located. we asked for a quiet room following previous comments. The manger was very concerned because we did not get a view. We were happy with the room. as we were only staying 1 night we were out for most of the day and evening. we arrived early ,left the bags and went off sightseeing. We were in Florence for 7 days. The staff at the Centrale was superb, especially Irene! Our only problem was mosquitoes in the room. Since the AC was not running and it was unseasonably warm, we were forced to open our unscreened window or swelter. Other than that everything else was super. Having access to free internet use was a surprise bonus.

First time in Florence. It was beautiful. Hotel had good central location and it was easy to find due to sign posting. Staff were friendly and helpful. Had some good food over the bridge;not so touristy there!also ate at restaurant near station that was recommended by hotel receptionist.Would definitely return to Florence and would recommend the Hotel to others. The lift is something else though!!

On arrival,after walking the the 15 minutes with many bags of luggage, we waited for over 30 minutes while the woman behind the desk gave turn by turn directions to someone trying to get to the hotel. I felt either someone else should have helped us or she should have told them to call back.

We would definitely stay at Centrale again. It was within walking distance of the train station. The elevator to get to the hotel was very small - my daughter and I had to take turns with our luggage! The hotel itself has two floors which are not connected by an elevator. This was difficult with our heavy luggage. At some point, there was no COLD water in the shower (or in the sink). We had a great sauna! Breakfast was wonderful, and the view from our room was spectacular.

My college age daughter and I stayed here just one night. The location is good. We walked from the train station with luggage in about 10 minutes. While the lobby/reception is on the 2nd floor, there is a lift. The staff was very friendly. The internet access is included and is available both in the room and in the lobby. Breakfast was very filling and in a large pleasant room. Our room was air conditioned and spacious. We checked our luggage there for the day before taking the train that evening. We would stay here again.

We were a family of 5 (2 rooms). This is a very nice Hotel in the center town within walking distance of all the sites and train station. The rooms were clean, quiet and of nice size. Breakfast was excellent and the serving lady was very pleasant and accomodating. The hotel reception staff were helpful and courteous. The elevator is very small and can fit only 2-3 people at most or 1 person with luggage. Otherwise its a 2 flight walk up. We would definitely go back.

The hotel was a very interesting experience. It was a gem hidden in very plain surroundings. Others have described the entry way off the street and the tiny lift to the 2nd floor. The room was clean and modern. It was very convenient to the station and central Florence, within site of the Duomo and a 5 minute walk to the "action".

We were impressed with the overall size of the room, as it was the largest by far of the six hotels we stayed in during our Italian holiday. The bathroom was also the best. It had obviously been recently refurbished. The location was also very good as it was within walking distance to the main sites.

This hotel is quiet, central, an easy walk from the train station and very close to the main sights of Florence. It is on the second floor of an old building with a TINY lift, just enough room for suitcases and one person. The staff were very helpful and my room was clean and quiet as requested. Facilities were excellent; however, services were less than stellar. Employees, save for the breakfast service person and night front desk, were rude and acted as though guests were an interruption of their day. We finally checked out and went to another hotel. In the first 20 minutes, the new hotel gave better customer service than Hotel Centrale gave over our three nights stay. And at a better price! Hotel Centrale is located on third floor of a commercial building. Elevator is available, but it is very small. We were surprised about this detail and thankfully are young and mobile. Also, construction is going on along Via Faenza, so be prepared for difficult maneuvering with luggage. Construction is estimated for the next 12 months. Location is close to train station and easy access to major attractions. There is a great gym/spa next door if you are interested in working out while there.

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Centrale. The staff was gracious and quite helpful. We found a fun sandwich shop just two blocks north of the hotel. The location was very convenient to the train station and all of the sites we wanted to see were within a comfortable walking distance. Breakfast was great and the staff would make cappuccino any time we asked. We would recommend this spot to our friends.

Hotel is the second floor of a building with a very small sign, so it was very hard to find. There is no access by car. Still, the rooms were clean and airy and the staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is a couple of blocks from the Duomo and from the train station.

This hotel is in a fantastic location for exploring Florence. They serve you espresso coffee in the mornings & the waitress didn't even ask my order by the 3rd day she just brought in it which was nice. The room was a good size for Europe & the bathroom was lovely. We found a great restaurant just around the corner.

My friend and I really enjoyed staying here. The rooms were comfortable, bright and offered temperature control, the breakfast excellent (how very rare to find green tea and brown bread on offer), the staff very helpful. The location is excellent but note that the porter for the building works office hours so outside this time the street door is shut and you are looking for solid double doors not a hotel reception area. You need to buzz for entry. The lift is small but useful - next the porter's office. We were there in February when it represents terrific value for money.

I travelled with my family. The hotel was in an excellent location. Walking distance from every interesting place and the railway station SMN. Very convenient for us as we used the train to visit Lucca, Pisa, Cinque Terre, etc. Rooms and bathroom very clean and staff very helpful.

The hotel is very central, only 10 min walk from station, and although the huge double doors were offputting once on the first floor the hotel was fine. At 80 euros a night for a double room and breakfast this was a good deal. Not luxurious but comfortable, central with good service from the staff. Limited public facilities but if you want more pay more.

Perfect location with friendly helpful staff. Room was spacious and clean. My husband and I love Italy and this was a great, reasonably priced, centrally located hotel just 5 minutes from the station. Easy to find and everything was within walking distance. The hotel is located on the 3rd and 4th floor of the building and although I saw a lift to get to the reception, I only saw stairs to get to the 4th floor where our room was. If you have mobility issues then you would need to check out whether there is a lift in the hotel itself.

A super hotel, very close to the Duomo, ideally placed,a beautiful place and extremely good value for money. It is on the 3rd and 4th floor of a building with a small lift to help bring up your bags, but the stairs are the best way to walk once you have delivered your luggage. However, for families with young children i.e. buggies,it may not be so suitable. If a family is staying with a young family, be sure to ask for a room on the 3rd floor, it is worth it, but will take a little effort with children that need to be carried.

This hotel is hard to get to in a rental car as it is in the real heart of the city center where one is not allowed to drive without a special permit. Also, once you're there, the parking fee is hefty (Euro 24/night). When you arrive you need to up a few floors as the hotel is part of a historic building. Once there, the staff is really friendly and the rooms are charming, spacious and clean. The Duomo is 50 meters away, the hotel is ideally located to explore Venice. If ever I am in Firenze again I will defenitely stay here again, but then come by train...

The interior of the hotel looked new. The staff said that the hotel was remodeled around 2 years ago. There was free internet in lobby. Also, there was free internet in the room through an Ethernet cable (this required a log-in that was a little complex, but worked). This hotel and its staff fully responded to our expectations and needs for a 4 days familly visit (parents and 3 youngsters) to Florence during Christmas holidays. We fully recommend it. NB : the station nearby is not the one you get to if you come by train from Paris as was our case.

After staying in some places that did not live up to their previous billing, Hotel Centrale actually exceeded our expectations. The location was good. Public areas and our room were spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was wonderful, with a variety of meats, cheeses, breads, cereals, etc. The staff was helpful and internet access was a plus for us. This was my first long awaited trip to Florence. We hired a car at Bolongna Airport. It was straightforward until we entered Florence, itwas hard to find the Hotel. However when we did find it, it was very centrally located, a couple of minutes walk from the duomo. You could very easily miss the entrance, there is just a small plaque, the hotel is on the second floor, we weren't sure what to expect from the entrance!. However it was very clean, public ares were quite small, but then it is a small hotel. The room was lovely,we had a view of San Lorenzo through a very large window. We were in easy walking distance of all major tourist areas.. However we did get two single beds pushed together, not very comfortable, make sure you ask for a double. If I were to go back I would'nt hesitate to stay again, I just wouldnt bring a car ionto the city!!

We absolutely loved Hotel Centrale! Fabulous location (Duomo is literally right around the corner, yet the hotel is on the little, quiet street off the main street), immaculate facility and wonderful service (very nice breakfast, too). It was also useful to have one computer with free Internet access available in the common area for those of us who would not like to take our laptop on these pleasure trips.

We were very impressed with the Hotel Centrale. We stayed at the Caravaggio room and had a view of the Medici Chapel dome. The room was very roomy and clean. It had hard wood floors and very high ceilings. The property looked newly renovated but retained the old world qualities you would expect in a city like Florence. It was like staying in a 5 star hotel instead of a 3 star hotel. The breakfast buffet was a very good spread of food -- cheese, assorted meats, eggs, breads, fruits, yogurt, parties, juices and coffee. I will definitely stay there again in the future and would highly recommend it to everyone. The staff were a delight. They also had free internet in the lobby. Among the 4 hotels we stayed at during our European trip, this was the best in terms of location, amenities, and accomodation - it was also the most reasonably priced.

Very central but in a scruffy side street. Vert helpful staff comfortable bed and room. More help with the way in could be given on booking as it s OK if you know but not so the first time you arrive espacially if the y have closed the outside door. I would definatly stay here again.

A real find. In the heart of Florence clost to rail and just about everything else. Wake to the bells of Duomo and the other churches nearby. The staff are fantastic. The breakfast the best we had in Europe in a delightful sunny breakfast room. Step out the door to shopping, markets and some fabulous restaurants. This is a must stay for the value for money traveller.

Small hotel located on two floors of a large buildeng. Excellent location--close to Duomo, train station, shopping and virtually everything in the central area of Firenzem yet the hotel is located on a small, quieter street rather than on a busy one. Rooms were smallish, but not by European standards, and were charming and bright. Each was named for an artist and decorated with his work. Some were located over an interior airway so did not have views but these tended to be the most quiet. I would definitely return there.

This was my first visit to Florence. The directions given to locate the hotel were exact and made it easy to find. The hotel location is ideal - 200 metres from the Duomo and within easy walking distance to all the sights the old city has to offer. The room was more than adequate for my needs (you don't spend very much time in the room as there is too much to see in Florence). The staff were exceptionally friendly and willing to help in every way. Breakfast was just right for me. I will certainly return to Florence again and will make sure to reserve a room in this hotel. Highly recommended!

Great location after you get used to the second floor check in procedure etc. Very nice breakfast and breakfast room, good service, great free internet access.

Nice hotel. Comfortable and quiet. Not easy to drive to, but that's the one way streets and nothing to do with the hotel. Hotel well situated for all you want to do and see in Florence.

In many ways an excellent hotel. The breakfast was the only minus, it was adequate but rather boring. Even so we would highly recommend this hotel and definitely stay there again.

Excellent location close to main train station; on quiet side street; staff very friendly and helpful; good selection of breakfast foods. Clientele seemed to be mostly middle-aged (mature?) couples or 3-4 adults in a group.

Our 2 night, mid week, mid Oct stay at Centrale was fabulous. Euro 128/ double/ night seemed very reasonable considering the quality of rooms & facilities for time of year compared to other cities. Location is a easy 10 min walk from SMN rail station and is very central to all the things to do and see( 5-15 min walk to duomo, market, shops,restaurants, galleries, Pont Vecchio etc )in central Firenze. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. On 2nd floor but have a small elevator. Our room(incldg bath) was very clean and very spacious (huge) by European 3* stds. Definitley recommend if $$ in your budget range. One of our best finds in Italy. We can't wait to return!
