This hotel is in good location, close to the train station, especially if arriving from Rome on a train. It is also about 1 block away from the Dome and the Ufizzi gallery. The rooms are compact, newly renovated, clean. If traveling from the US, bring your own adapters to charge all the electronics. This hotel will not provide it. The breakfast is adequate. If traveling to sightsee and need a hotel just to spend a night, this place is nice and not very expensive. The elevator will only go up to the 2nd floor, the staff will bring your luggage up for you. There are stairs to get to some rooms

I have been staying in the hotel for several years now and I am staying this year as well. It is the best hotel that I have stayed in Florence. The location is perfect. Staff speak English. Many of them are very helpful. Miss Irene has been always extra helpful and kind to me. She has always answered all my questions with patience. I asked them to change my room to a lower floor and they did it immediately. Breakfast room is nice and very clean, and quality of Breakfast is really good.I will keep going back to Hotel Centrale.

The location of the hotel was great, being close to both the train station and the city centre. Unfortunately the hotel itself has some inconveniences. There is only one elevator, and it is incredibly small and very slow. As an alternative, you can use the common stairs and then enter the hotel if you ask for the PIN. If your room if on the upper level, you then have to take another set of stairs. Baggage assistance wasn't offered, so be prepared to lug your baggage to your room including the possibility that you need to carry them up stairs. My room also had mosquitos, so getting a decent night's sleep proved difficult. The shower was mouldy, and the shower head could not stay up (kept falling down).

I was at the hotel with 2 friends of mine. It's a very good place for a stay in Florence. Everything is OK, we got the most interessing places to visit nearby as well as places to eat. If we have to visit outside Florence we got also bus, pullman and train very nearly. The only negative point at the hotel was about air-conditioning. It didn't work as we wished. We switched it off at night but during the night it worked again. It was very unconfortable for us.

We stayed 3 nights. The welcoming attitude of the woman working the front desk made us immediately take to Hotel Centrale. Every time we needed some help or information, the staff was very helpful. The location is excellent, just a couple of blocks from the Duomo, and less than 5 minutes walk from the train station. The rooms are small, but typical of Italian hotels.

We flipped out over the great location. It was a quick walk from the Stazione and there we were. The air conditioning was a welcome relief from the oppressive heat and the rooms were clean and neat. Loved the way each room represented an artist. Breakfast was okay - staff was wonderful. The sights of Firenze were easy walks from the hotel. We will definitely return!

My wife and I stayed for four nights and three and a half days of sightseeing near the end of February. My overall impression is very positive. The room was larger than I had expected, with a large, comfortable, firm bed and a couch, small desk (with minibar and TV set), a luggage stand, and armoire for coats (and a small safe). The bathroom had a sink, bidet, toilet and a small shower. Everything was modern and in good shape. The room was cleaned well every day. We could see the dome of the Medici Chapel from one window. Good included breakfast -- eggs, fruit, cereals, bread and toast, cold cuts and cheese, pastries, fruit juices, and coffee. Strong free WiFi signal but slow sometimes (could have been my use of U. S. sites). Great location for walking to sites -- a couple of blocks from Piazza del Duomo and a moderate walk from the railroad terminal. Staff was helpful and spoke good English. Didn't seem very accessible (very small elevator and stairs to breakfast area and to room). No restaurant, but lots of places nearby. Rooms were average quiet, as demonstrated by a loud guest in an adjoining room one evening. Control of lights and heating a bit eccentric. A very good value at the less than 70 euros/night (plus city tax) we paid.

Great price for a holiday (New Years) weekend. Very safe and clean. The location is a distance from most of the museums and landmarks but a metro stop is near by. For a young couple traveling through Europe on a budget this was one of the nicer hotels we stayed at. Grocery store near by, as well as several cafes and bakeries. Great view of the river. The view of the Eiffel tower is amazing when in front of the hotel, though the rooms do not give much of a view.

We stayed here off season and booked a double room, including breakfast for 64 euro a night. Our first floor room was spacious and had a 15 foot high ceiling. There was plenty of storage. We had a wardrobe, some cabinets, cubby storage under the window, a bench for sitting on, and a desk area with a chair. There was also a safe in the room, which was nice. The beds of course were very firm. The bathroom had a nice size counter with shelving for storage underneath. The shower had excellent water pressure, and loads of hot water. Breakfast was excellent. There was cereal, pastries, yogurt, boiled eggs and assorted meats and cheeses and of course cafe and 3 choices for water. We were a 5 minute stroll from the Duomo and various street markets. The staff was very knowledgeable, helpful, courteous and professional. Several staff members spoke English. The only area the hotel could improve on, would be to have specific information about the restricted streets in the driving instructions. When I called, they explained that we could drive down a certain restricted street (the one near the train station, in the hotel driving directions)and the hotel would send our car information to the police so we would not get a ticket. That info needed to be included in the driving instructions. There is a parking garage, about a 3 minute walk from the hotel. You leave your car with an attendant, they store it, then bring it to you at the hotel when you need it.

The Hotel has an excellent central location in Florence. The staff were helpful and friendly and gave excellent recommendations on places to eat. The room was comfortable , very clean and quiet which is a very important 'must have' on our requirements for a city centre hotel. Another bonus is that it is walkable from the station. The Breakfast had enough variety and choice to suit all tastes and appetites. We will make this our first choice Hotel when we return to Florence.

The location of this hotel is excellent as it is within walking distance from the main sights and is also close to the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the young lady in the breakfast room. The breakfast that was offered was the best that we had while on holidays. They had fresh fruit, fresh juice, cakes, pastries, and a lot of other stuff that we didnt get at the other hotels we stayed at recently. Although the room was smaller than advertised on the websire, it was not too small and was very clean. The bathroom was also very clean and was big enough. We were there for a week and would definitely stay at Hotel Centrale again. We would also recommend it to anyone visiting Florence.

Pros: The staff was friendly and competent, the interior is wonderful, many of the old ceilings and walls paintings are preserved, which helps to feel in Florence even more. The room was spacious and well decorated in the same style. Cons: There were towels from the previous visitors in the bathroom and half empty can from Fanta on the table. The state that they have parking but actually they use a nearby paid parking which cost ~23 EUR/24 hours. The streets nearby were either closed for constructions or forbidden for entering with car, so finding the hotel by car is almost impossible. the price for the internet is not included in the room price, the internet speed is bad.

Breakfast is typical with good pastries and coffee as well as cereals, fruits, etc. The room was very clean with wonderful AC during this very hot summer in Italy. Couldn't ask for a better location then this. Everything is accessible nice restaurants and all the places of historical significance we could see Duomo from our window just a few buildings down. We walked from the station easily. The written down instructions at Venere website were more helpful and easier to follow then the map itself. Best way to reach is to follow the instructions from Venere.com and the moment you cross 'Best Western Premier Hotel Laurus' look inside the alley next to Best Western and you'll see the sign inside. Remember the hotel is on the 2nd floor inside the specified building. Great value for money. Breakfast needs improvement.

We, two retired couples, had a wonderful stay in Florence. The hotel is housed on the second floor in an old building with a wide impressive staircase. We needed to ring a bell to gain entrance through a large gate that was closed. The lift is tiny, only capable of handling two persons in comfort. The reception is cordial and helpful. The rooms are large, clean and adequate. Breakfast was fine with plenty to eat. Highly recommended.

We got off to a rocky start at this hotel but ended up enjoying it very much. We wanted a hotel that did not require walking upstairs. Our research showed that the Centrale had an elevator. Unfortunately, it was not until after we checked in that we learned the elevator had no access to the 3rd floor where our room was. Thus you could take the elevator to the 2nd floor but then had to walk upstairs to the 3rd floor. They had given us this room because it had a view (we would call this a “partial” view). Breakfast was served on the 2nd floor so this meant walking down and up a flight of stairs for breakfast and then taking stairs a couple of more times a day. After we asked for a room that did not require stairs, they were able to accommodate us on the 2nd night and moved all of our belongings for us. The staff was very nice and made dinner reservations and a reservation to see Michelangelo’s David. The breakfast was good and the rooms are comfortable. It’s a good location, very close to the Duomo with many shops and restaurants nearby. We do not recommend driving in Florence!

Those looking for a "hotel" experienece might be disappointed. The Centrale presents more like a pension than a hotel. It is on the third (U.S.) floor of what seems to be an old office building. The conversion is well done. The interior is nicely decorated and the rooms are large from my experience of small hotels in Europe. The elevator is very small - fitting only two people with luggage. The location is superb - easy walk to the Duomo and the train station. The included breakfast was ample but not exciting - reminded me of Amsterdam food. The front desk got us a same-day reservation for an art museum to avoid the long line.

Great location but on a pretty quiet street. Could see the very top of the Duomo from the window in the room which was very nice. Breakfasts were good and the staff was helpful, other than one dinner recommendation (Osteria All'Antico) for a place that was busy, not great and had almost only American tourists. Instead, try La Congrega, which was small, quiet, great food and great service.

The directions to the hotel could be better. I came through a maze of seedy streets which was a bit scary. Then I discovered that coming and going from the opposite direction brought me to the Duomo and a lovely part of Firenze!

We traveled in Italy for over three weeks and this hotel in Florence was our favorite. Staff was exceptional and very helpful, the room was lovely, and the breakfast outstanding. We would highly recommend this hotel to other travelers and would stay again in the future.

This is an excellent hotel! I went with 2 other friends and stayed for 3 nights. The staff was so kind and thoughtful - just couldn't do enough for their guests including recommending restaurants with special discounts from the hotel. There are hotel signs posted on the beginner of the street from both the train station and market direction, not as difficult to find as some other reviews. The breakfast was full of varieites and plentiful. The sitting area and breakfast rooms are both cheerful and comfortable. Due to the 24 hours receptionist service, there is always someone to make a cup of cappucino or fetch you a pot of tea after breakfast hour. Nice to have the free internet access if you don't have your laptop. The rooms and bathrooms are quiet, bright and in fairly new condition, they are also spacious with ample lighting. The elevator was a newly added feature for this beautiful grand building, altough it is small, but it does the job for hauling heavy luggage! We are thankful for that! Most of all, we (all three of us, Tina, Anglea and Mimi) are thankful for the hotel's staff, the location, the facilities and the reasonal price. We'll be back!

I was in Florence for one night for work. I was very impressed by the Centrale, which was perfectly located in the historic centre, very clean with freshly decorated rooms. The staff were nice and the breakfast was excellent. Extremely good value for money for Florence.

My son (2 year old) and I stayed here in January with two friends who shared another room. We enjoyed eery minute of our stay. We had a little trouble finding the hotel walking from the train station. I guess we define a street differently than whoever made the directions on the hotel's location page, but with a GPS, we found it. After we arrived, everything went perfectly from arrival to departure. Not a single complaint. Located close to everything, good breakfast, quiet rooms, and helpful, friendly staff. Would definitely stay there again.

My wife, adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Centrale. It was our first time visiting Italy, and we found the staff and room, as well as the location to be totally top notch! The atmosphere of the hotel was very warm with caring and personable employees. The beds were comfortable and the noise level in the room was non existent except for the lovely chiming from the belltower. We will definitely stay at the Centrale on our next visit to Florence!

I booked at the Hotel Centrale last minute and I stayed only one night for business. Nevertheless, it was a very pleasant experience: confortable, clean and quiet rooms, excellent location near the Campo di Marte Station as well as the historical City, helpful and polite staff, lovely surroundings

This hotel is basic but clean and very centrally located. we asked for a quiet room following previous comments. The manger was very concerned because we did not get a view. We were happy with the room. as we were only staying 1 night we were out for most of the day and evening. we arrived early ,left the bags and went off sightseeing. I would certainly recommend this hotel to those wanting good value accomodation. Very centraly situated. The breakfast was excellent better than some four star hotels we stayed in.

Very modern bathroom. Clean, if somewhat sparse, bedroom. Ample space. Would definitely appeal to the traveler who wants a clean, quiet room, but spends most of his time out of the room.

We were in Florence for 7 days. The staff at the Centrale was superb, especially Irene! Our only problem was mosquitoes in the room. Since the AC was not running and it was unseasonably warm, we were forced to open our unscreened window or swelter. Other than that everything else was super. Having access to free internet use was a surprise bonus.

Service, location & everything else was excellent. A bit disappointed that it had no kettle facility. Just a note: the reception's on the 2nd floor and the lift is pretty tiny. We used the staircase everyday, it was fine for us. All in all, we enjoyed stay.

On arrival, after walking the the 15 minutes with many bags of luggage, we waited for over 30 minutes while the woman behind the desk gave turn by turn directions to someone trying to get to the hotel. I felt either someone else should have helped us or she should have told them to call back.

We would definitely stay at Centrale again. It was within walking distance of the train station. The elevator to get to the hotel was very small - my daughter and I had to take turns with our luggage! The hotel itself has two floors which are not connected by an elevator. This was difficult with our heavy luggage. At some point, there was no COLD water in the shower (or in the sink). We had a great sauna! Breakfast was wonderful, and the view from our room was spectacular.
