Hotel Casci - Florence
Via Camillo Cavour 13 - Florence
877-662-6988The hotel is housed in 2 beautiful 15th century buildings built during the Medici family period. The rear area was a convent, hence comes a pretty special atmosphere of old-world charm, with original fresco ceilings and a maze of long carpeted hallways.
Both business travelers and tourists will appreciate the informal and welcoming atmosphere and families and groups will especially enjoy the large triple and quadruple rooms. Start your day with the hotel’s rich buffet breakfast where you can savor a wide selection of fresh foods. In the lobby you will find a free Internet Point and all rooms provide free Wi-Fi access.
Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay with them again if I get the chance to travel to Florence again.

The staff at Hotel Casci are particularly welcoming and were at hand to mend my handbag (passport enclosed) which stubbornly refused to open.Fluent English spoken too. Our room was spotless and simple but comfortable. Buffet breakfasts were ample and tasty. The location of Hotel Casci is superb and just a few minutes away from the Duomo. Thoroughly recommended.

An amazing little place only metres away from the centre. Rooms, cleanliness, breakfasts, position, quietness - all fantastic but what made the stay so special was the personal attention of the family and staff . Nothing was too much trouble and we were looked after so well . It was an absolute pleasure and although officially 2* it was far superior to many a 4* I have stayed in.

I cannot say enough good things about the Hotel Casci and the Lombardi family that runs it. Graciousness and Hospitality from Mrs. Lombardi on down is the way of Hotel Casci. The location is a 10 minute walk from the Duomo in one direction and the Accademia museum in the other. The Uffizi and the Ponte Vecchio are probably a 20 minute walk. Great location, no need for taxis.

The location of this hotel was ideal close to market and Duomo. The staff could not have been more friendly and efficient in this hotel. They booked our visit to the Ufizzi and the Accademia museums which saved us time queueing. The staff were never fazed, and never got grumpy even with one rude and childish customer. Our visit was a delight.A grand-mother, and 21 yr old grand-daughtertogrther.

My boyfriend and I stayed one night there last September. Price was very high for the size of the room we got, but then Florence hotels are all expensive. We walked there from the train station (a few blocks through a street market) and it is only a couple of blocks away from the Academia Gallery, so it's location is great. Service at the hotel is excellent. The manager arranged our museums' reservations weeks prior to our arrival, and that was key to make the best out of our very short stay.

The high quality of services provided by the Hotel Casci included a most congenial & helpful staff, scrumptious breakfast service, comfortable accommodations, convenience of location & efficient valet parking. As first-time visitors to Florence, our hotel proved to be a welcoming oasis of easy access between forays to the streets, sights & restaurants of this busy city. Beyond any other contributing factors to the success of this property's hospitality is the enthusiasm of every member of the hotel's staff. It was like staying with a proud family eager to share their home & their culture to best advantage. Grazie!

This hotel has a great location, about 3 blocks from the Duomo, very close to the Accademia, and you can walk all over, including the Ponte Vechio and the Pitti Palace. The first impression is not the best, the hotel is located in an older building. There is a very small elevator that will take you to the second floor, to the hotel. The minute you enter the hotel, your fears should dissapear, the staff is fabulously friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious, and did I mention the location? Great hotel in the heart of Florence. Thank you hotel Casci for a great stay in your beautiful city!

We stayed in Room 21 (Triple). The staff at Hotel Casci are exceedingly friendly and welcoming. The room was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The breakfast was basic, but good. The much-needed air conditioning worked very well. Above all, the location is perfect. Florence is a very walkable city, and Hotel Casci is conveniently located between the Duomo and the Accademia. I would stay here again.

Nice, spacious room. great location: close to sights, but not in the thick of crowds of tourists. Staff were very helpful figuring out trains, etc. Very family freindly with free movies to watch, and a super efficient laundry service! Not great restaurant recommendations, though. The hotel was full when we stayed, and the breakfast room was a bit hectic and over crowded. Overall a pleasant , comfortable, accomodating hotel.

Casci has the convenience of a hotel with the charm and excellent service of a B&B. Our room was very nice and the staff went above and beyond. We did have a slight plumbing issue, as can happen with old buildings, but the family was very accommodating and we were offered another room. The location is also very good - close to the metro and shopping area.

Florence is an expensive city for hotels so any hotel will feel poor value when compared to some other destinations. However, Hotel Casci is a good value, well run hotel for this price in Florence. The hotel is only a short walk (5 minutes)from the Duomo to the south and the Galleria Accademia to the north so is very well situated to see the sights. The hotel is run by three generations of the same family and they are all very attentive and porvide very good support to visitors to the city. They emailed me after the booking was confirmed to ask if there was anything I wanted and they offered and then booked advance tickets for us at the Galleria Accademia and the Uffizi. The hotel itself is set in a 15th C building and reflects the charm of old buildings but this does come with some compromises. If you want flat corridors and anonymous rooms then find a Holiday Inn, if you like the idea of a maze of corridors with individual rooms with some character then you'll like this hotel. I've scored the quietness of the rooms as low as there does seem to be an issue with the ventilation systems. The one in our bathroom made a noise and I was woken on several occasions by a similar noise in the middle of the night - presumably when occupants in neighbouring rooms visted their bathroom.

Located centrally close to the Duomo, Hotel Casci is an easy walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station. This is a family run hotel, and they'll give you a welcome as if you've been a family member since the dawn of times. The service is no less than incredible, and the reception will make it seem like they're happy to help with all your inquiries. The rooms are definitely on the small side, but they are fully equipped with tv/ dvd, refrigerator, wifi (or a free internet point in the reception area, should you not have a laptop of your own), air conditioning and a safety deposit box. The bathrooms are modern and clean. Hotel Casci's location not only makes it easy to find, but also a good starting point to investigate Firenze's fairly compact city centre.

I forgot to mention (in our other review of the Casci) that the staff was extremely helpful in calling restaurants for us, making reservations, asking about gluten free items on their menus, etc. The tourist office a couple of doors down should be your first stop after checking in. They have tons of free info on organised trips and self guided tours. Also, try the hop-on-off busses. For 20 Euros you can ride the double decker busses for 24 hours. There is a A and B line, they each do a different route. It is well worth the money!

This hotel is the greatest! The staff (Pierre Paolo, Paolo, and Ms Lombardi) were wonderful and so helpful it is hard to even put it in words. They made reservations for us for the major museums, helped us get around town and to grocery stores (there are two on the back side of the same block as the hotel), and they even ordered special gluten free breads, crakers, and cakes for my wife's diet. The hotel is extremely well located (next door to the Medici museum, within walking distance to all major sites and the train station). The free access to the computer for the Internet was excellent, and the breakfast was very good. They let you boil your own eggs, and have lots of good foods every morning. The room was plenty big and the bath had a very large tub/shower. These people are the best. If the price seems a little more than you want to spend, it is very much worth it for the attention and quality of service they provide.

I found Hotel Casci on Trip Advisor, and went only on the reviews, and the location. It truly exceeded our expectations! Peitro Paolo (sp?) Was a wonderful front desk, concierege, and tour director! He made recommendations and reservations on resturants, museums, and other attractions that we should take advantage of. We had our weeks worth of laundry washed, dryed and folded, for a fraction of what we were afraid it would be! The breakfast buffett was included in the price, it was not only beautifully presented, but delicious and filling! We certainly will be back, and send our friends as well!

Small, family run hotel, close to everything. Wonderful service from a family who make you feel like you're "special". Rooms are typical European size but comfortable and spotless. The bathroom was newly remodeled and equally spotless. Here's a plus, free wireless internet in the rooms, and a free to use PC in the public area. Small but well stocked bar, we ran out of a particular type of beer and they went out and bought some for us. Chance of rain one day so the desk clerk provided us with large umbrellas to use. They made advance reservations for us at the Uffizi and Academia, no waiting lines. Also helped us with reservations at restaurants and provided maps / directions. The staff was "very" attentive and helpful. Breakfast in the public room was adequate, cereals, fruits / rolls, hardboiled eggs, etc. The lift is a bit tiny so we used the stairs, reception is located several floors from ground level, it's a 450 year old building. Even for a city location the rooms were quiet, never once did we hear city sounds.

This is a very well run hotel but the price was high. Very welcoming. We stayed 5 nights - the first night in a very small room, the following 4 nights in a far better room although it had a pong (plumbing?) The rooms were very clean. An excellent breakfast. Public area was very small. Computer access much appreciated.

Family-run hotel. The staff can't do enough to help you enjoy your stay, from booking gallery tickets for you, to telling you which sights not to miss. Rooms are not spacious but they are comfortable, spotless and quiet, although in the heart of the historic centre, 5 minutes from the Duomo. The Accademia Gallery, San Marco and San Lorenzo are close and the Uffizi Gallery is about a 15 minute walk. The station is also a 15 min walk away. If I can visit Florence again, I'll stay here.

This is a good budget hotel at a reasonable price for Florence. Service is great - really helpful and happy to make bookings for you. I had a single room which even by European standards was small. This is the first time my husband and I visited Florence, so our first time at Casci. We can compare it, however, to hotels we like very much when we've stayed in Rome and Sorrento. It ranks right up there with them and we will stay there again and again when we return to Florence! Upon arrival we were welcomed very warmly, quickly checked in and helped to our room, which was very clean and brightly lit with natural light, and also very nicely decorated. Furniture was quite sufficient to store clothing and other items, and the safe was acceptable size. The bathroom was very comfortable - nothing fancy, but all the necessities - big shower and sink, more than enough towels and plenty of storage. Throughout the week, owners and employees could not have been friendlier, nor more helpful. They suggested restaurants, made reservations for us, sold tour bus tickets, etc. Just OUTSTANDING in every way. . . consistently and day after day, not just the first day! The breakfast room is spacious, the ladies who worked in there very kind, and the food, though simple, was fresh and delicious with a number of choices. They also featured the coolest soft-boiled egg amker I ever saw! We also loved the free access to the internet plus the library of books and magazines available for guests. The hotel was close to everything, the Duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, the Academia, famous piazzas, great restaurants, bus stops, ATMs, stores, shopping, etc., etc., etc. We loved this hotel and are sure you will too. It was a great bargain for the price, which by the way, is a good bit less than our favorite hotels in Rome and Sorrento. Stay at Casci, and you'll discover it's a great hotel.

What a wonserful establishment Mrs Lombardi and her family run. We stayed for 7 nights, and felt welcome from the moment we arrived. All the staff were friendly and helpful; nothing was too much trouble! Their help in arranging trips, and booking restaurants was invaluable. The room was clean and comfortable, with frequent linen changes and plenty of toiletries. Breakfasts were varied and generous. Wi-fi access was consistent. All this so near the centre of Florence, yet peaceful and relaxed! What more could we ask?

This was my second visit to the Hotel Casci; this time with my husband. I am impressed by the friendliness of the staff. They are very skilled, and presented us with a Hotel Casci calendar when we left. The hotel is situated on an upper floor of an older building, as many less expensive Italian city hotels are. It is close to everything in Florence, and has wireless internet available at no charge!

We had a very pleasant stay at hotel Casci. This was our first trip to Florence. The staff were extremely nice and did everything they could to help us. They even went as far as bringing breakfast back out one morning when we were late getting up (a busy day trip the previous day exhausted us). The staff will book tours etc for you. They also have a very large collection of guide books that they allow you to borrow. This proved very useful during our day trips to Siena (A must) and Pisa. The room was large (as European city hotel go) and spotlessly clean. Even though our room faced out on a busy road there wasn't the slightest noise. We could hear the shower in the next room but this didn't bother us much. The location was brilliant and everything was within easy walking distance. Breakfast was included with the price of the room. They was a good mix of foods for breakfast and it ensured a good start to the day. I would definitely stay here again if I ever returned to Florence. Even on leaving all the staff were out to shake our hands and which us a "Bon Voyage" Thanks Hotel Casci Staff for a wonderful trip to Florence.

When you arrive at the door of the dark building in a busy street and find out that you have to take an old elevator to the second floor to reach the reception, you think you chose the wrong place. But that's not the case. The Casci operates very efficiently in the upper half of an old building right next to the heart of the main attractions of Florence. The personnel are extremely helpful; they even wrote to us about 2 weeks before our trip (when we made the reservation) to check if we wanted to reserve tickets to the main museums in Florence. Had we not done that, we might have not seen Michelangelo’s David and the Boticelli paintings because there were people queuing for hours. We were two couples with two small children, and the two triple rooms we were assigned were spacious and clean. The air conditioners worked perfectly, and the rooms were very well sound-isolated. Overall, it was a very nice surprise!

This is rated a 2-star hotel, and it shows. Sure, the building is historic and interesting and the staff very friendly, but the rooms are sparsely furnished and fairly basic. Breakfast is OK but uninspired. The location is good, right on the tourist bus route and within walking distance afo lot of places you will be visiting, and there are loads of (fairly ordinary) restaurants in the vicinity.

Hotel is very convenient to the major sites- about a 10 minute walk from the train station. There is an excellent tourist information office just a few doors away. The breakfast is sufficient. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and certainly adequate by European standards. (We found most rooms to be fairly small.) The staff was accommodating although not particularly warm, with the exception of Paolo who was talkative and helpful in recommending restaurants and making reservations for us. We were able to get soft boiled eggs for breakfast which, although a small thing, was nice since hot items (we later found) are not available at all hotels. I would not characterize the Casci as posh by any standard, but definitely good value for the money.

We just stayed there in October 2005, and we enjoyed it. It is a fairly basic hotel in an excellent location. We were within walking distance to all major tourist points, but it was still quiet. It was also very clean. Best thing was how friendly the people were - they could not have been nicer. They recommended a restaurant (which was very good and reasonably priced). The breakfast was simple with limited choice, but there was as much as you wanted. I would certainly consider staying here again if we visit Florence.

The location was excellent, within easy walking distance of museums and the market. I stayed at this hotel based on other reviews, and they were accurate as well as useful.

The hotel is very central and convenient for visiting Florence. The staff are very welcoming and fluent in English. Unfortunately, the room we were allocated was directly above the air-conditioning units and the noise during the night took a long time to get used to. Breakfast buffet very good.

Our stay at Hotel Casci (family of 4) was excellent, the Lombardi family are superb hosts! They were friendly and were there to help with all our requirements. I would recommend any family looking for a warm, welcoming family run hotel, who know how to treat there guests well, to look no further. Well done famiglia di Lombardi.

Never have I found a hotel staff as accomodating as the staff at Casci. They could not have been friendlier and more helpful. The hotel rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel is on the second floor of an older building that is right in the heart of Firenze. It is just down the street from the Duomo. Breakfast was much better than average. The only drawback was parking which was a long walk but that is true of any well located hotel in town, there just isn't any parking in the middle of town. For an additional fee they have a service that will valet park the car for you. In retrospect I should have used. I would certainly return.

We were late arriving because of flight trouble so it was especially nice to be welcomed with such graciousness. Pierpaolo is accomodating and informative and very versatile in his languages. We could not have asked for a better experience - service, location, quality were impeccable.

Hotel Casci is an excellent value in an excellent location in Florence. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were relatively spartan but were spotless and the bathrooms have been recently upgraded. The breakfast was extensive. The hotel provides a free internet connected computer in the lobby for its guests. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

The staff was very helpful after a difficult journey (lost luggage, etc). Extremely friendly and knowledgeable service. Best we had in Italy. If I come back, I'll stay again.

Our room was very quiet and clean with a nice new bathroom (large tub and strong shower). Breakfast was excellent and I enjoyed the free internet access. The location is perfect and Paolo (the son) was very kind and helpful. The hotel felt to me more like a bed and breakfast, with a nice home style atmosphere. I only gave it 3 stars in the general review because of a confrontation that Mrs. Lombardi had with my husband, and her subsequent attitude towards us which left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome.

Hotel Casci was very good as a base in the heart of Florence. The rooms were very small, but then we only used them to sleep in. The bathrooms (en-suite) were also very small but scrupulously clean and the fold-away bidet and w.c. was a revelation - especially the fact that the seats were heated! The w.c. was only 90% effective in flushing however and, weirdly, occasionally flushed when the light was turned on. The bed linen and towels were changed daily. Our rooms were at the back, for quietness' sake (the hotel is on a major road) noise from the reception penetrated as did the sound of other properties across the shared lightwell / courtyard onto which our rooms had their windows. The Lombardi family were universally friendly and helpful and readily offered advice on eateries and other things - even trying to book seats at the ballet on our behalf. The buffet style breakfast was more than adequate. Altogether a highly recommended, if a bit expensive, small family run hotel. We would stay there again.

A very quaint family run hotel. Location is great, beilg about a 3-5 minute walk from the Duomo and 2-3 minutes from the Market. A little difficult to find the Hotel when you're driving down the street, but worth the trouble. A nice arrangement with valet parking in a nearby garage made the stay even better.

Fantastic Location, the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Felt the room was a tad bit small and wasn't too thrilled about the fact that it was a smoking room but then I don't remember if I'd asked for a non-smoking room. You get your bang for the buck.

This hotel is a really nice, comfortable and conveniently located facility with a friendly and accomodating staff. Considering prices in Italy in general and Florence in particular, it is a very good value. I would not hesitate to stay there again, indeed I would look forward to it.

I can only say good things about Hotel Casci and the Lombardi family. We made this reservation based on a mention I saw on another website. We are American and went to visit our daughter, upon arriving my wife was upset that I'd found the only hotel without a neon sign or first floor lobby. After 5 nights she said she would only stay there if we ever return. The hotel is clean, perfectly located, fairly priced and has a great breakfast. Throw in the free internet terminal the kids used in the lobby and everyone was happy. Casci is not a 4 star fancy hotel but a comfortable place from which to enjoy Firenze.
