Caravaggio precisely met my needs as a single business traveler. It was sublimely quiet, with a remote control by the bed to adjust room temperature! The breakfast offering was tasty, abundant, and diverse, served in an elegant room that extended onto a balcony overlooking a garden. Staff was very professional and efficient. The location, facing a city park, is very convenient -- just a short walk to the train station, Duomo, and Fortezza da Basso Event Center.

We were traveling with our 2 teenage daughters and our one room was comfortable for the four of us. One queen size bed and two twin beds. The staff at the desk were very friendly and helpful. The sites of Florence are within easy walking distance from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to my friends. A very good value.

Great hotel! Hands down, would come back here any day. Pretty quick walk to train station and great location for sight seeing and walking around. Staff was amazing, very nice and we had an awesome time at this hotel. Rooms were very nice and clean, the only downside was the size of the bathrooms and shower. I am bigger guy so it was a tight squeeze, but nothing to complain about. I've stayed in a number of place in Florance in the past few years and this is by far the best place for the money!

Great hotel with one hickup: as a matter of policy they don't have shower curtains. You either have to take a bath, or end up with a pool of water on the bathroom floor.

Good Hotel, short 5-10 mins walk to station, far enough away from it be away from the bussle. To the North West of all main sights but close enough to be be walkable, so well placed given the price. Hotel itself very good, we had a Superior room which was at the back of the hotel, so quiet, with a view to the Duomo. Room was a compact double, but perfectly OK for a weekend break. Unusually, it had a bar that was available - quite hand for a post dinner glass on return from the evening meal

This is a great hotel for the price. The service was excellent. They care about the customer. The full breakfast is great. They even have a terrace if you're awake early enough to get a table on the terrace for breakfast. very nice. The rooms are a bit small, but comfortable. The hotel is located on a busy road so ask for a room in the interior, not one facing the busy street. You can walk easily to all the attractions in Florence.

Caravaggio was superb, a quiet room as requested at the back with a splendid view of the local houses, in sight of the Duomo and its bells! The room service was excellent, sheets changed every two days, the staff were pleasant and the breakfasts excellent. If we get to Florence again we shall definitely go to the Caravaggio.

Of our 4 weeks of travel in Europe, this hotel was absolutely the worst! Small rooms; dismal entryway; only one or two staff members were genuinely helpful.... The only good thing about this hotel was it's efficient air conditioning (in the bedrooms only) so necessary this hot July in crowded Florence.

After coming from Venice we were extremely pleased with the size of the room. The location is fantastic as are the staff. Guiseppe's greeting was fantastic and as we had a car he was very helpful with arranging for the car to be collected as well as arranging some tours for us. Parking for the cars was expensive, however this service is independant of the hotel. If driving be mindful of one ways streets, it took us some time to get a very short distance as the GPS didn't always pickup on these. Overalll a wonderful experience in Florence. Restaurants recommended were great ZA ZA excellent.

We had a brilliant time, 10min walk from the station one long straight road to go down and you are there. Also 10min walk to the Duomo it is really close by the market. Room was big really comfortable staff so ever so helpful and funny. It is a small hotel and it has a lot of charm exactly what we wanted.

I stayed with my famiy of 6 adults for 3 days in Florence. The hotel was clean and conveniently located. Breakfast was good and included in the price. For the price we paid, this hotel was an excellent value. I recommend it. The outdoor courtyard was the perfect way to relax with a glass of wine after a hectic day of touring. The only issue we had is the noise level. The first day we arrived, the AC was broken in our room, which wasn't a big issue because it wasn't very hot. The Piazza below is VERY LOUD. There was a large group on most nights yelling until after midnight (it's not a bar or cafe, so I'm still not sure what they were doing besides hanging out). The night manager gave us a fan for our room so we could close the window and block out the noise, which seemed to solve the problem.

Clean, comfortable room. Bathroom very large by Italian standards (though furnished somewhat counterintuitively, with the towel-rack too close to the toilet unit). Substantial breakfast, which kept me going until the museums closed. Intelligent staff. Good location(3 min on foot to San Marco, 5 min to Accademia). Choice of non-Italian TV channels seems limited.

It's hard to give an objective opinion, having never been before in a 3 star. I was surprised, although in the end, I remain satisfied. small room and bathroom . The double room was small. The heating was provided by a two way a/c without instructions. We had to request kettle and tea which was provided in other rooms. Perhaps there was not enough room. The rather basic accommodation was compensated for by the friendly and helpful staff who made our visit to Florence a success, recommending itineraries and restaurants. The staff make the hotel.

Someone else had recommended that I ask for the room at the back of the hotel with a view of the Duomo. This was a good idea and I loved seeing it in different light. The nice jacuzzi tub was nice but it leaked. I enjoyed it anyway, I did let them know of course and hope they fix it. I had lived in Florence for 5 months 35 years ago and was happy to be back for an extended period. The Hotel Caravaggio was a great place to start back. Grazie e mille

Perfect solution for a quick stay, single room not very big, but enough space for 1. The room was though very very clean, recent restored and quiet, though being on the first floor (which is also the floor were breakfast is served). The hotel personnel is very friendly and kind. The location is perfect if you travel by train and wish to walk in the city. Center and main city attractions are all at walking distance. P.S. if you travel until January 23, 2011, be sure to pay a visit to the "Bronzino" exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi: marvellous!!

The Hotel Reception staff are excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. Ask for a room with a view at the back of the hotel looking towards the Duomo. The rooms are fine apart from the soundproofing. We took a taxi from the airport, (fixed price €20) rather than navigating the narrow streets from the station, especially with suitcases. The local street market beside the Mercato Centrale is well worth visiting and try to negotiate over prices! There are some excellent, good value restaurants within 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Walking to the centre is easy and we will certainly stay at this hotel on our next trip to Florence.

Nice hotel and was within walking distance of major sites. Shower was really small and room was much smaller than it looked in photos. Breakfast had plentiful choices and allowed you to get as much coffee and other items as desired. Staff was helpful. I wouldn't want to have a car in this city. Excellent hotel, very nice people, very helpful, spectacular bathroom, it even has a hydro, deliciuos breakfast, it could include some fresh fruit instead of tinned fruit salad( as in most hotels ).Anyway you can buy fresh fruit in the street markets all over Europe.Very well located, opposite a park( Piazza Independencia) with a view of the mountains!!!!!!!!!!Relaxing. Near every place you would like to visit and near the centrsl station as well, where you can catch a bus to go to Piazza Michelangelo in the evening to see Florence at twilight.AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL.If you go to Florence don´t miss the chance to visit Pisa, you won´t regret it. You can catch a train at the station too. It´s only one hour long.I definitely recommend Florence and Caravaggio. You can do both( Florence and Pisa) in two full days and two nights.

This was my first vist to Florence and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. We could not have experienced a friendlier or more helpful greeting and the ongoing help provided by the staff was fantastic. We were shown how to access all the landmarks within walking distance from the motel and how to get there with little hassel. Good value, however the shower had black mold growing in the corners. While the hotel is close to the train station, it is not 200 meters away. probably 1/2 kilometer, which makes dragging your luggage in 95 degree weather a chore, especially with narrow sidewalks. The shower stall was very small. I'm 5-10 195 lbs. I could barely turn around and it was impossible to reach bottles on the floor without leaving the shower door open. Otherwise, the room and bathroom size are typical for a 3-star older hotel--i.e., a bit small. However, the staff speak English well and are friendly/helpful.

I was satisfied about my stay in the Hotel Caravaggio. The staff was kind and efficient, my room was clean and well furnished, breakfast was good. Overall a good quality/price ratio. The only problem is that the hotel is on a very busy road, outside of the pedestrian area. However the acoustic isolation of the rooms is efficient. Hotel was conveniently located near railway station, and many of the major sights - all in easy walking distance. Room was simply furnished but lovely and quite - at back of hotel overlooking gardens. My only small complaint was the breakfast - in our experience the coffee (generally) in Italian hotels is disgusting, and it was true for this hotel too. The eggs ran out - but the serving lady very kindly offered to cook more eggs - excellent service. Everyone was amazingly helpful and friendly at this hotel. Top marks for great service. There were three of us traveling and we loved this little hotel. It is near the train station, but it is still about a ten minute walk. Our room was spacious and uber clean!! The bathroom was amazingly huge! Biggest one i've seen in Italy thus far, we joked that it would be a great place to stay when we become seniors because it was so well adapted for older people (very safe) and it was well stocked with towels, wash cloths, shampoo, soap... etc. The room and hotel itself was nicely decorated, it was nice to see the x-mas "spirit" something our hotel in paris lacked. The breakfast was your typical cereals, meats, cheese, yummy pastries, toast, jams, juice, and coffee. Very good. :) Oh yes... the view from our bedroom was totally awesome! we stayed in room 210!! If i or my friends make it back to Firenze for a fourth round i/we will definitely stay at hotel caravaggio again. :)

We booked a standard double room which was located in the back of the hotel, away from a very busy, noisy street. Room was very quiet, although very small. Bathroom was ok in size, but no place to store your personals, because of a pedistal sink. We did have a nice view out the window of a courtyard and off in the distance, you could see the top of the church. Breakfast was good and plenty to choose from, which is very inportant to us. Room 214. We left the city for a few days and came back to the hotel for one night. Maybe because we booked late and not much was left, but we were given a room that was more like a single room, with a double bed. Thankfully, it was only for 1 night!

I needed a room for just one night while heading for Cinque Terre. I got absolutley no sleep at the Caravaggio. They gave me a room an elevator ride up to the next floor. It wasn't until after midnight when the hotels kitchen quit banging pots and pans and laughing while working. It was if my room was situated above the restraunts dishwashing sink and personel. It was horrible. I politely asked for another room, "but none were available". To make it worse, the room was adjacent to where the mornings breakfast is served at 7:00am. Florence is full of hotels. Why take a chance of getting stuck in a room on the first floor at the Caravaggio.

This hotel is excellent. Staffs are really kind, moreover, rooms and facilities are clean. Florence is a small town, so we could go to everywhere on foot from this hotel.

Walk from station is short but sidewalks are very narrow and crowded so make sure you have rolling luggage. 3 blocks from Mercato Centrale, excellent location, great service from the front desk. I felt safe as a single woman travelling alone. I won't stay anwhere else in Florence again, I found my jewel!

I loved this hotel and although it is not right at the major visitor sites, it is not far. It is not far from the train station either so it was well suited for our trip. The market is also close for some great shopping. The staff was wonderful.

The hotel was in a good distance from the historical sights. The only problem was via Nazionale, where the hotel is located. This road is too busy during rush hours and it is not easy to walk with heavy luggage. The room was very cosy and very clean. The breakfast was adequate, the personnel was friendly and very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Spent three days in the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very quiet, clean room, very quiet -- I was initially disappointed because we had no view; however, quickly realized that that was preferable to a room at the front of the building which would likely have been noisier. Perfectly set air-conditioning, comfortable beds, although our 25-yr old son thought his single bed was a bit small. Nice big bathroom. Great breakfasts. Also, absolutely no noise from the other rooms or from the hallway. Very central -- 10 minute walking distance from train station and a short walk to lots of major sites in Firenze, including the Duomo, the market, museums, etc. Really appreciate the "trip advisor" comments. We made all our hotel reservations based on them and found them to be true and very useful. I would stay at this hotel again and highly recommend it.

This is our fifth stay at Caravaggio and it continues to impress and amaze us. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Rooms are clean and well-appointed, with many of them large by European standards. Breakfast is above average. We love the Caravaggio!

My first comment has to be that the staff, one man in particular was extremely helpful, pleasant, and patient with us as foreigners. There is a restaurant recommended to us by this man which was modestly priced good food and it is right next door. This hotel was a long walk to many sites. We ended up getting a cab a few times to help out. This hotel will always bring up fond memories.

Hotel was fine. It faces a park, which is pretty, but very noisy at night since it is a hangout for the youth.

Rooms clean. Staff really helpful. If your room faces Via Nazionale, there is noise coming from the cars going along street. Breakfast enough for me. Well located. You can go on foot almost everywere

Overall, the hotel was decent enough. We had a clean and larger-than-expected sized european room. The staff spoke English very well. The breakfast they had was typical: cereal/pastries/boiled eggs/juice/coffee. The area is convenient to the Accademia and rail station. There are also lots of places to eat around there, the most notable being Trattoria Mario. During check-in, I was told that I had incorrectly booked a "double room for single use." I guess in Italy, you need to book a "room for double use" if you are to have 2 people staying in the room. It was just 10euro more a night, so luckily it wasn't too much of a shock.

The entire staff at the Hotel Caravaggio was outstanding. Monica was exceptionally helpful upon checking in and making reservations for the Uffizi. She and the rest of the front desk staff were always available for answering questions on trains, scooter rentals, directions, reservations and recommendations. My original intent was to stay for two nights but found them so accommodating that I stayed on and did day trips from Florence for a total of five nights.

Very nice cosy hotel. Better to take rooms with the windows to the yard. The street side might be noisy.

Location, closeness to interesting sites, closeness to central transportation, and general characteristics, excellent. Whenever I return to Florence I shall try to lodge here, and I do recommend it to all travellers.

Great location - within walking distance to the bus and train stations, as well as major sights. Friendly staff made great recommendations for restaurants nearby, as well as booked museum tickets for us. And although the hotel is on a busy street, the rooms at the back open onto a quiet green space. We would stay there again if we find ourselves in Florence.
