We had a superior doule room - the only reason for it beign superior was a view of the Duomo Dome!. Friends had an ordinary double which was as good but no view. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very goos but the breakfast room is crowded. The hotel's position could not be better for visiting the main attractions of Florence

The hotel is quite enjoyable and the location is FANTASTIC. This is the fourth time I have been in Florence and this hotel has the best location--that is between the Duomo and the Arno. The staff was helpful making reservaions for our dinners.

We had a great stay. I got ill and the front desk staff sent up tea and biscuits. With the exception of Francesco everyone else at the front desk was extremely courteous friendly and very helpful. Francesco gave the impression he did not want to be bothered. Breakfasts were wonderful as was the dining staff. We would highly recommend this hotel to our friends.

The best about this hotel is its location; 2 blocks away from Il Duomo and 2 blocks away from Piazza di signoria, absolutely outstanding! in the heart of the action. Included breakfast could be better. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Our biggest dissapointment was to find out there is a fee if you wish to connect to the internet, i think it should have been already covered by the room fee (this is not a cheap hotel). Our room was somewhat tight but adequate. I would go there again without hesitation.

Location is excellent, some of the rooms face the street and its very noisey - we had to change rooms after the first night. The staff are helpful and pleasant. This is an old charming hotel. We enjoyed our stay very much. Its a pity there is no up to date computer service and no English T.V news.

Excellent hotel in the center of Florence. Impeccable room, very large, very bright with an amazing view. Very comfortable bed, very nice bathroom. Hotel is nice and cosy. Breakfast was excellent and with quality products. The only negative point : they ask you to pay a fortune for internet access.

The central location is what makes this hotel ideal. Unfortuntately we were driving which was hard as the hotel is set on a pedestrian street. We were disappointed that our room was only made up for 2 when there were 3 people booked for a triple room. We had to wait while they made up the couch (which was not a fold out double bed it was a couch!). The room would be fine for a normal double room, but too small to share as a triple. The staff also came across as rude and gave us wrong directions to find a laundrymat. The breakfast was pretty average (no fresh fruit, no juice, only cordial, etc) but all that being said, I probably would consider staying there again, just for the perfect location.

We stayed in a double room at the Hotel. After our stay in Rome at an apartment it seemed very small...but the bathroom is quite large. Everything really was fine and the hotel is certainly centrally located. Using the internet at the hotel is VERY EXPENSIVE...find internet cafes instead. We had minimal contact with the front desk staff, but the servers at breakfast were very nice. Above adequate both for location and price. Wonderful view outside the window.

Location in terms of being central, could not be better. Because of that however, in high season, I think it would be pretty noisy. The staff was wonderful & helpful, the rooms lovely. A perfect introduction to Florence.

We were given a room that should never be used for humans, next to the elevator and the breakfast room. Clanging carts and nosy guests were right outside our room starting before 7 am. No wondered they neve4 asked how our room was.

Hotel Calzaiuoli was a block over from the Piazza della Repubblica which made its location unbeatable (however, with an amazing location does come some noise). While the reception and breakfast areas were small, they were clean and well-maintained, and breakfast was better than the average Italian-hotel breakfast. The rooms were lovely and extremely comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is perfectly located, right in the heart of Florence. Short 15 minute walk from the train station. Rooms are a good size, bathrooms a bit tight, but overall this is a great hotel. This was the first time we visited Florence. The Location was awesome!!! Right in the middle of all the action and tourist places to visit. Triple occupancy rooms were EXCELLENT ... they had a special room inside the main room for the 3rd person. Bathroom was a lil small ... but thats not a bother at all. Excellent and ideal for short stay tourists. A lil on the expensive side but u have to pay that price for the location. I would like to thank venere for the GREAT reviews and in helping us book our hotel.

Beautiful hotel for moderate price. Reserved basic room, which had no view, but made for a very quiet spot. Lovely location, lovely room, comfortable bed. Reasonable taxi ride from train station (easily walkable without bags). Great A/C since it was quite warm while there. Some hotels won't turn on A/C until June - so we lucked out!! Would definately stay again!!

We picked this hotel for the location and by the comments on Venere.com. The location was absolutely perfect 1 block to Uffizi, Duomo and Piazza Republica (many outdoor cafes) in the historic pedestrian cobbled streets. Very easy walk to Ponte Vecchio on the way to Piti Palace. The hotel was better than expected. Nice breakfast in the a.m. and congenial staff. Room was larger than expected and nicely appointed. Bath had hairdryer and US style bottles of shampoo, etc. For our first time in Florence this was the best choice for us.

This hotel was wonderful! We were a group of five women. The hotel provided two rooms, one with two singles and one with three - just as we had requested. The bathrooms are new and well appointed. The location is perfect - in the middle of the block that connects the Duomo with the Palazzo Vecchio. The friendly front desk staff was very helpful with directions, dinner reservations, and taxis. The included breakfast provided a wide selection of meats, cheeses, fruits, juices, rolls, toast, yogurt, as well as bacon and eggs. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Florence was great. You can walk to everything. Please get resevations to Uffizi ahead of time or you will wait at least 2 hours in the ticket line before you go to the entrance line, another small wait.Hotel was clean, quiet, very convient, room very small, bathroom very small. Loved the location not the room. Breakfast was excellent. so if you can get by with a small room give it a try. The staff has to learn how to smile.

The hotel was clean and the room was spacious. The reception was businesslike but not overly friendly and helpful. I would stay here again. It is in a fantastic central area to all the attractions. We had a room in the back which was quiet even with the window open. I have a feeling the rooms facing the street might be a bit noisy as that street is very busy. The price was good, I only rated it a bit lower because of the weakness of the US dollar but that is not the hotel's fault.

Hotel Calzaiuoli is in an excellent location for walking to all the great attractions. The front desk staff, especially Michele, were great in recommending restaurants and made our reservations for us. The breakfasts were plentiful, offering a good selection of food. We never needed lunch, just a gelato break.Speaking of gelato, right around the corner is a fabulous gelato shop. Our room, at the top of the stairs on the 3rd floor, overlooked the Duomo. The bed was extremely comfortable. We normally stay at Four Seasons when we vacation, and I really enjoyed spending all that extra money on gifts rather than the room. We will most definitely recommend this hotel for your Florence stay.

PROS: - Location: Right in via Calzaiuoli in the exact mid point between Piazza della Signora and the Duomo. - Accomodations: Great rooms, pleasant breakfast hall and food, spotless clean, the works.. No noise at all in rooms although they had huge windos facing one of the bussiest walking streets in Florence. CONS: - Parking fee: 30euros per day. - Some staff members could be freindlier.. no biggie. - A bit expensive but worth every euro for the hotel quality and the location. If you travel by car you can drive all the way to the hotel's front door in Via Calzaiuoli. This street is pedestrian, but there is not a problem in driving it (really slowly). The best way to get there is by Via Porta Rossa comming from Piazza di San Firenze. Look for directions in Google maps. A good advise may be to locate the hotel and look for a near by public parking lot which you think is safe. Research your parking if you think 30E per day is too much. Would happily stay here again if I had a similar budget. Although I would look for cheaper alternatives in the same location to see if I get lucky. EPM Mexico.

Hotel is very centrally located and perfect for getting around. The room was nice and spacious, as was the bathroom. The breakfast was decent. We'd definitely stay here again, and recommend this hotel. We stayed 3 nights. Only negative point was the reception staff - they could afford to be more friendly and actually thank customers for staying with them. We had credit card and receipt just placed on the counter, not a word said... and this was in the middle of summer, so rates weren't exactly cheap!

Right on the main shopping street which is pedestrianised. Centrally located within walking distance of all the major sights and attractions, could not be better really, an ideal location. Only a 3* because of small rooms and lack of a real lobby area, otherwise it would be a good 4*. Location is pretty much the best in Florence, 5 mins walk to anywhere! Noisy city location, but double glasing and a/c made this a minor point. Highly recommended.

The best hotel we have stayed in for location. Walk straight out to pedestian only streets with easy level walking in any direction to many of the famous piazzas, museums, galleries, shops and restaurants. Room 210 was as described and more because it's double aspect, from one of our windows we could see directly down to Piazza Republica. Although the room was a smoking room (and we don't smoke) the room didn't smell. However, if you find this a no no then there were plenty of non smoking rooms to request. Bathroom was small and compact, but who stays in the bathroom longer than needed! Breakfast was very good, but it paid to get there before 9am when everyone seemed to appear, on one morning a couple of guests walked away as there were no vacant tables left. Hotel staff were both curteous and helpful and maps of the city are free. Would definitely stay again.

A thoroughly pleasant experience. The location could not have been more perfect, with only a few short blocks to both the Duomo and the Uffiz. Many good restaurants nearby, and the desk staff supplied several good suggestions. The breakfast provided was unexpectedly large, with eggs, cereal and assortments of meats and pastries available every morning. The room was not large, but it was adequate and the bed was comfortable. The street noise might be a problem in the warm weather, but we simply closed the windows and shutters, and it was fine. We would certainly stay there again, and we can recommmend it without reservation. This hotels clearly takes service very seriously.

Everything was excellent at H. Calzaiuoli. A few remarks only: 1)parking is extra 30 EURO per day. 2)The internet access in room is via wireless, but the staff is not very aware of how this works: i think you have to buy a card which would give you the access to the hotel's page...nobody knew exactly what to do, so they gave me 30 min access on hotel's computer...which luckily for me was enough...

Overall our stay was outstanding. It's location is very convient to just about everything. I would recommend asking for a room on the back side of the hotel other wise you may have the late night street traffic. First visit to Florence and hotel was ideally situated in the centre of the old town, very close to all that one needs to see. We had no language difficulties with staff speaking and understanding English without any apparent problem. Also staff very helpful but would not allow me to pay my bill at 21.00 hours on the night before an early departure! Also the superbly excellent buffet breakfast was available between 07.00 and 10.00 but there were no facilities for getting anything to eat or drink much before 07.00 hours on the day of departure. However this was a very minor detail in what was an otherwise excellent stay. Staff recommendations for somewhere to have an evening meal were absolutely spot on and are to be recommended. We were warned about the possibilities of there being mosquitoes about but these warnings were unfounded. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends and when we return we will stay there again and book it through Venere where significant savings were made.

My wife and I stayed for a week in mid October, 2006 and had a wonderful time.We were last in Florence 26 ago and this was a sort of 30th anniversary trip. The room was quite, we had a view of the duomo, and the breakfasts each morning were wonderful. The location was excellent. We were five minutes from everything. The staff was helpful, though busy, language was never a problem. We selected Hotel Calzaiuoli through the internet and were relieved that it was as good and better than what the virtual descrptions presented. We would return without a doubt.

We spent two days in Florence for our anniversary and this hotel was a fantastic change from our experience in Rome (at a less expensive hotel) the previous two nights. Although our room (double superior) did not have a bathtub as shown in the pictures, it did have a moderately spacious(for Europe), all marble bathroom. Our room also had an extra sitting room with a small TV in addition to the spacious bedroom. The breakfast is the best that I have seen in all of Europe - there are several items available, including bacon and eggs! The hotel is just a short distance from the train station and then very conveniently located to all the major attractions. We would definitely stay in the hotel again.

This hotel is fantastic! We arrived in Florence on an overcast but mild Monday after a EuroStar train (not to be confused with the Anglo-Franco Chunnel) had catapulted us from Rome’s Termini through the Tuscan countryside at a very fast but snooze enabling pace. The Calzaiuoli is only a 10 minute walk (and suitcase roll) from the train station. Simply aim for the Cathedral or Uffizi and you're pretty much there. This is because the hotel is situated beautifully on the wide and tourist friendly pedestrianised street that links these 2 wonders. The welcome received from the hotel staff felt slightly aloof and I felt a little out of place in my jeans and trainers but the concierge managed to crack a smile just wide enough on hearing my Italiano to pass as human. The porter kindly carried our bags in the lift to the room on the 3rd floor and the room was certainly clean and spacious enough, especially compared to hotels where I have stayed in Milan and Rome. The room was at the back of the hotel and our 3 large windows (I do love a window in a room!) gave view to the Cathedral dome, Uffizi square tower and east and north across the terracotta-tiled roofs of Florence towards Michelangelo’s hill, which, incidentally, is well worth the walk for the view back over the Ponte Vecchio. We also had a little room annexed to the main with it’s own TV and sofa bed which gave the room an almost suite feel. The breakfast was superb with a wide variety of food and drink and I would recommend taking the stairs at least once to appreciate the full grandeur of the hotels’ spine. Only downside? Having to apologise to my girlfriend since it was an American and not Italian accent that she could hear all holiday. In conclusion this hotel is basically all you could need and want for a central hub to visit all Florence has to offer (even if Calzaiuoli's impossible pronunciation means you'll never be able to tell your friends exactly where you stayed!)

We had a great room on the 4th floor overlooking Via Calzaiuoli -- very small bathroom but a nice clean room that was in a PERFECT location. Close to everything -- Duomo, Uffizi, Piazza de Signoria, Train Station. Would definitely stay there again and reccomend to friends. Staff friendly and accomodating as well.

Our early October, 2006 stay at the Calzaiuoli was an excellent experience. The central location of the hotel allowed easy walking distance to all of Florence. The room and bathroom were large, clean and quiet. The breakfast was expansive and tasty. The staff was helpful -- especially in making advanced reservations for all of the museums (which, because of the crowds, are impossible to visit without reservations). My wife and I recommend this hotel for all vacationers to Florence.

The hotel was right in the midst of everything...up the street from the Uffizi and Duomo. The street can be noisey at night but was no problem for us. We love being where the action is. The staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very nice.

Hotel Calzaiuoli was the best hotel of our trip to Florence/Venice/Rome. The location is ideally situated between the Duomo & Uffizi sites. The staff was excellent and spoke good english. Dry cleaning was returned on the same day. The hotel made excellent dinner recommendations. For pasta/pizza try Yellow Bar. Best breakfast by far...........

It was the first stay this time. Because the room was quiet though it was very convenient for sightseeing in downtown, it was unexpected. Because there is a type of a room in various ways, please try to refer to a photograph of WEB. Breakfast is delicious somehow.

The problem we had was that that rooms had lots of dust. I guess it has never been vacuumed. My wife and I are allergic to dust so we had an allergic holidays, sneezing, running nozes, coffing, eyes irritation. The bathroom wasn't really good, the water temperature kept going from hot to cold, then we would increase the heat and get burnt... But it was quiet and located 1 block from the Duomo, right in the center of the city. Watch out, parking the car will cost you 30 euros per day.

The hotel itself was perfect for location. Very difficult to get to due to parking restrictions, the hotel provided a parking facility by an external company who charged 30 Euro per night. This was not bad considering the multi story under the station was 3 Euro per hour. We stayed on the top floor and booked a Superior Room which was not impressive, the bathroom was tiny, the hair dryer was unusable. We would, however, stay again mainly due to the location of the hotel.

Our hotel stay in Florence was fabulous. We really liked the location of this hotel, it seemed as though we were surrounded by all of the main historical sights, places to eat and shopping. If we visit Florence again, we will stay in this hotel.

We stayed in Florence 3 nights and had 2 rooms at the Hotel Calzaiuoli. This hotel is in the best spot in Florence. Short walks to the best piazzas and restaurants. The rooms were very nicely decorated, very spacious, and very clean. We had great views of the city. Would definately recommend it and stay there again.

Very stylish and convenient room, beautifull bathroom. Room quite small but we took standard for the cheaper rate. Functioning air condition. Hotel right in the middle of everything in Florence. Breakfast good and varied, but location a bit stressy when crowded. Reception staff quite cool for italian standards. However all in all we would for sure come back here when in Florence.

Helpful staff and very central location. A pain to get to if you drive into Florence as it is on a pedestrian walkway. But just be Italian and drive straight on and get there.

The Calzauoli is a comfortable small hotel, ideally located for seeing Florence on foot. Although it is somewhat pricey, the convenience of its central location justifies the cost.

A friend and I had traveled to Capri for a good friend's wedding. From there we went to Florence where we stayed at the Calzaiuoli Hotel. Honestly, we had low expectations (we had just been at a 5 star hotel in Capri), but we were pleasantly surprised! Everyone who helped us was kind and welcoming...and most spoke english. Our room (a double king) faced the main street, but we didn't hear any noise at night. The room was large by European standards, and so was the bathroom. Everything was clean and well kept. Breakfast in the morning was great. A variety of breads, yogurt, eggs, etc. made saving some money very easy! The coffee was great...my friend loved that they gave you warm milk with it!! The location of the hotel was FANTASTIC!! We were able to walk to every main site. The shopping in the area is also good (the hotel is right across from Furla and about 3 gelato places!!). I would highly recommend this hotel. Before booking this hotel, I read all the reviews...thank you to all for your tips. This was a great stay and I would stay there again! As two single girls in a new city not knowing anything, it made us feel a bit safer knowing the hotel was right around the corner from everything we wanted to do! Enjoy your stay in Florence...it is wonderful!!!

Great location - couldn't ask for better! It was close to all the main sights. Even though the room overlooked a main (busy) pedestrian thoroughfare it was quiet - the double glazed windows worked a treat!

It was very nice to stay at hotel Calzaiuoli. It is very loud outside, but if you close the window it's quite o.k.The hotel is small, clean, renovated and in the centre of the town. Breakfast is also good. We enjoyed our stayng there, much more than in others hotels in Florence.

We enjoyed the room, which was clean and classy looking, and overlooked the main piazza. It seemed well priced compared to the hotel we just came from in Rome. However, on Friday and Saturday nights, there were festivities and partying on the street below and in the plaza, making noise until one or two in the morning, keeping us up even with the windows and shutters closed. The reception desk people were efficient but could have been a little friendlier.

We decided to stay at this hotel primarily because of its location midway between the Duomo and the Uffizzi, but it turned out to be the best hotel of our entire vacation! We were greeted with a lovely fruit basket and thank you note in our room when we arrived and the room itself was lovely. We will definitely stay here again.

This hotel could not have been a more perfect choice for a stay in Florence. The room was very large by European standards as well as being very comfortable. It was right in the middle of the best of Florence, with the Duomo a few blocks in one direction and the Uffizzi a few blocks in the other direction. Some very choice restaurants with outstanding food were found right around the corner. Despite the great shopping on that street, which drew a number of shoppers, we never heard any street noise. This is an A+ hotel. We will definately be back.

Great value for the euro. Location is in the centre of everything--even the train station is walkable with luggage (Florence is very walkable in any event). Breakfast buffet is extensive, and keeps you going for half the day and then some. Desk staff are very helpful (reservations, directions, etc.) The room was great--clean, quiet, and well done.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Predominantly because of the location - you can't get better. We were able to go out exploring and come back to the hotel to drop things off and take a break without having to go far at all. Breakfast was good too. The rooms are recently refurbished and ours, although a little bit noisy (only a little) was really spacious and well appointed. Great value - would 100% stay here next time.
