Another pleasant stay at the Boccaccio. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The single rooms are quite small but comfortable and clean. Although if you are in a city like Florence you really dont want to spend too much time in your room!

Neighborhood can be a bit offputting, but hotel is very convenient, good amenities, and nice staff. Close to the river and the center of town. Spend some time exploring the center/oldest part of town before going to see museums. "Walking Tours of Florence" (tour company) is about 10 minutes away. Good way to start your stay.

This was an excellent hotel! The staff was incredible! They were friendly, helpful, and offered great advice on where to go and what to do. The free breakfast was very good too! There is also a travel agent next to the hotel that provides assistance on tours as well. The hotel is very close (a block or two) from the train station which is extremely helpful. The train station is central to taking the buses and tours. It can appear, at first that the area is not the best, but that is quickly overcome when I believe it may have been just a group of people waiting for a bus. There are internet cafes that are a couple doors down too, the hotel was too costly, plus no need to lug around a computer. There are also a few restaurants that are not all that bad either. The offer somewhat quality meals if returning late from a day of touring. I recommend taking the tours to Sienna, Pisa, San Giamigarno (sp?), and Tuscany wine tasting (the best lunch!). Great way to see all locations and let someone else do all the work in taking you to see the best of all four places. Also to note...discovered that the food in some areas of Italy is just ok.(New York Italian is far better)...there are certain areas that are known for the food...so if you are looking to have a great meal...find the areas that are know for the food.

I travelled with 2 friends to Florence for a 3 night stay at the Boccaccio. The hotel is about 1 block right across the intersection from the train terminal in front of the main entrance, so location was good when you first arrive. The rooms were a little shabby but clean. The whole time we were there the air conditioning was not working which was annoying. The first thing the concierge recommended was to go to a restaurant affiliated with the hotel. This turned out to be a bad idea as the only patrons of the restaurant were guests of the hotel and from the USA. On top of that, the meals were over priced. I recommend staying at the hotel and finding your own restaurant with a fixed price 3 course meal. Overall the hotel was ok, the rooms weren't the most comfortable and it probably was overpriced for the quality of the rooms.

My sons, their wives and myself were well satisfied with this hotel. It is conveniently situated close to the Santa Maria Novella station, the bus station and within easy walking distance of all the places of interest in Florence. The food and drink available at breakfast were adequate. This was my third visit to the city, for anyone making their first visit I would suggest making use of the Terravision coach service for transfer from Pisa airport to Florence. Much cleaner and more comfortable than the train. Although if making a separate visit to Pisa it is better to use the latter. In all, a most enjoyable short holiday, we wished that it could have been longer, next time maybe. Thank you Venere.

Had a horrible stay in this hotel. The place looked like it was recently renovated - especially the bathroom - which is all nice but the air conditioner didn't work - just blew warm air. When I first enquired about this the guy on the desk said I just needed to turn it up. I then went out and came back. The room was stifling hot when I came back (almost as if it was over a kitchen or something). I turned up the air conditioning and more warm air. I rang the desk at 11pm and got a different guy who tried to tell me I needed to use a remote control and tried to tell me the TV remote would do. I explained that it wouldn't so he begrudgingly came to the room. The a/c was obviously too old to have a remote and he looked like he had never seen it before. He felt the warm air being blown out of it - turned to me and said it was working and if that wasn't enough open the window. I explained that an open window wasn't secure and he told me it would be fine. I locked my passport and wallet away - opened to window and tried to sleep. Made virtually no difference to the heat - just lots of mosquitos. Exhausted I finally drifted off to sleep to be awoken at 2am with a spider in the bed. Glad I was only there one night. Yes it is nice and renovated but no a/c at the end of summer when I booked the room specifically for a/c was bad and the rudeness and unwillingness to fix the problem unforgivable. Breakfast was also ordinary at best. Also, when I checked in - the guy seemed to keep my passport for an uncomfortably long time. I eventually asked for it back hours later where he claimed he still wasn't finished registering me. Didn't seem to grasp why I wasn't comfortable being without it indefinitely. I won't be back - and wouldn't recommend this place to others.

We had a room at the back, which was quiet, but the hotel is right on a busy road. The other rooms may be very noisy. The room was OK, if a little old-fashioned. Good shower! Breakfast was passable but not great. Location very convenient for city centre, station and congress centre.

We had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Boccaccio. The location of the hotel is superb, within 400 metres of the railway and bus stations and conveniently within short walking distance to all major attractions. The staff in the hotel were always cheerful and very helpful. Our room although not very spacious (adequate for our needs)was immaculately clean with usual amenities, air conditioned, unsuite, fridge,TV and safe. The breakfast provide was continental and more than adequate for us. Morning coffee was lovely. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence who doesn't wish to be ripped off paying exorbitent prices for accomodation. We travelled from Pisa airport by bus (also handy by train) to Santa Maria Novella station which was immediately around the corner from the hotel. We also travelled to Sienna by bus 50 metres from hotel to bus the station and to Pisa using the train. Good choice of hotel for us.

This was our first stay at the Boccaccio, and this hotel was wonderful! The rooms were huge and the third bed in the room (for a triple) was a REAL bed (the same for all three of us)! The bathrooms was the best of our trip (huge) and my two teen age kids raved about the shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very convenient to the train station. It is not a bad area, safe and with a lot of other hotels around. There were restaurants within walking distance, and everything in Florence is in walking distance. Everything worked perfectly with the exception of the air conditioner, which took off the edge of the heat but did not get very cool. When we told the front desk, they were responsive and adjusted something outside of the room, but it never got as cool as other rooms.

It was a very nice hotel with a perfect location just right infront of the S.M.N station and there is a tour agent next door which made all ticketing things easier. The hotel is very close to the railway station to be reached on foot. Also, there are several touristic attractions in the hotel surroundings. The employees in the front desk are very kind and helpful. The closest pizzeria in the hotel street is very good and cheap. Also, in the way up to the restaurant indicated by the hotel staff, you can find other tratorias and restaurants as good as or even better.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Boccaccio and would be happy to stay there again ourselves or recommend it to friends. Our room was a good size for the class of hotel in a city like Florence. It was nicely decorated, clean, very comfortable and also very quiet. The staff were very courteous and helpful and we were delighted to be able to access our room early in the day on our arrival after a long international flight and train trip. The location, close to the rail station and only a short walk from the Duomo and other main city sights, was perfect for us.

The price of the hotel is very low against what you get. The room was nice, cute and clean. We had a small room, not too spacious, but enough to overnight (what else would you do there when there is so much to see in Florence). It was an easy walk to most of the museums and piazzas and just 200 meters from the train station. Breakfast was light. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We liked the hotel very much and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel is very near to the Firenze Railway Stazione SMN that earns convenience so is suitable for rushing guests, but surrounding is a bit busy. This is seemed to be a family-run hotel yet it is properly managed and maintained. We originally booked one night and then stay one more night for her decency and the helpfulness of the staff. Ask them and you will be recommended a tasty and guaranteed restaurant. The hotel can improve by providing free internet access and omnette for breakfast instead of just boiled egg.

We arrived late to this hotel and were greated warmly by the clerk on duty. He gave us a local city map and pointed out the highlights. The hotel was an easy five minute walk from the train station. The room was of decent size and the bathroom was great-clean with a wonderful shower.Shampoo and soap was available. Breakfast was more than adequate-delicious cappachinos, two types of rolls (sweet or regular), luncheon meats, cereals, etc. I would highly recommend this hotel for the price! My only negative comment-the restaurant recommended must be affiliated with the hotel as it was extremely touristy even though we were told otherwise. We did not go there since we were looking for a more "local" place and found a great one at the end of the street to the left of the hotel. I believe it was called something like "I Invinota" and they had delicious homemade pastas and a wonderful wine selection at resonable prices!

Stayed as single in a standard double for the space. Although room had to be very closed up against heat and traffic noise it was clean, spacious enough, good bathroon and shower. Bed was OK. Location great, public rooms and breakfast area very nice, and helpful staff. Their recommended restaurant several blocks away (which they own apparently) is good but pricy. Overall very satisfied and would use this hotel again. For the price it was great.

The room was very quiet, although small, and with a small veranda. The emplacement is quite good, about ten minutes walking to the historical center. Nice and quiet hotel, considering its classification as a three star hotel, and with good prices. Unfortunately, there was an annoying smell from the sewage in the bathroom. However this was probably not a problem of the hotel, as in the surroundings there were works and the same smell.

Confortable and clean hotel. Rooms are spacious, considering the size you often get for single rooms. Those with windows regarding the street can be a bit noisy at night, not only because of traffic, but also because of the movement of restaurants and bars nearby. The hotel is at a 3 minute walk of the central train station and also from the main bus terminal, so it's really very convenient to go anywhere from the hotel. Major attractions can be reached by walking, such as the Duomo, Santa Maria Novella church, The Old Bridge and museums such as Uffizi and Pitti Palace. I would recommend the hotel for anyone, and will defenitely stay there again when back in Florence.

A very highly recommended hotel by some good friends. I had a single. A large, very strangely shaped room. The 'extra' space was just unusable and worth little. But, as a single, the price performance ratio was quite nice. The bathroom was almost bigger than the room. Looking at the map, the doubles looked spacious enough and with usable aspect ratios. Very nice for my 3 day excursion to Florence added on to a business trip elsewhere in Italy.

I have stayed in Boccaccio 3 times. The hotel is centrally located within a short walk from the Termini & only 5 minutes to the River Arno & about 10 minutes to the Duomo. There are 2 good tratoria nearby & each was recommended by the staff at Boccaccio. If your stay is over the weekend best to book at table & the staff will at Boccaccio will recommend a venue & book the table for you. For a quick snack or take away visit the cafe on the corner across from the hotel. I find the area is quite safe for a single woman walking in the evening. Definitely recommend this hotel as good value for one of the cultural cities of Europe.

The hotel is very close to the SM Novella station [for good and for bad], but is conviniently tucked aside. The exterior looks a bit faded, so my first inpression was "did I make a miststake?". The room we had on the second floor was at the front of the hotel overlooking the intersection but we were not impacted by the external noise. It was the smallest room we came across in our 8 weeks travelling in Europe. The bathroom was half as big as the bedroom and the beds were very hard but the breakfast was quite good! A beautiful hotel, very close to the train station. You can walk around to see the main points of the city. The hotel is very conveniently located near the Santa Maria Novella Station. It is an excellent base for a stay in the city. The room was quite small and very dark but that is fairly common in European cities. It had all the facilities we needed and there was even a small terrace leading off our room. However, it was a little too chilly to enjoy it! The hotel staff are uniformly friendly, welcoming and helpful and the travel agency next door is convenient for booking gallery tickets etc Overall the Hotel Boccaccio is clean and comfortable and the staff are a definite bonus. This was my first time here at Boccaccio and I was very pleased with the service. The location was fantastic and the overall opinion of this small but quaint hotel was above average. Also the recommended restaurant at La Carabaccia was fabulous!!

This hotel is so close to the train station, making it easy to travel to other cities for day trips, which is what we were looking for. If you are just staying in Florence, you might want to be closer to the center of the city. The breakfast was very good, and the staff was friendly. The towels smelled a little strange, but that would be my only complaint.

Great location. Fair price. Know that a single room looks nothing like what you see in the pictures because of layout, but it was clean and air conditioned and even had a little garden. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful and spoke English well.

I chose Hotel Boccaccio because of it's claimed proximity to the Santa Maria Novella train station and was pleased at the short walk and easy access to the station. Everything is within walking distance in Florence and I walked easily to the leather markets, Piazza Signoria and Ponte Vecchio. As a female travelling alone I was unsure about walking the return trip to the hotel after dinner, however the walk at 12.30am was very comfortable. With many other hotels on the street there were other people out and about at that time.

..to bath or not to bath..this is the question..at first we were pleasantly surprised by the Jacuzzi in the room (the only one jacuzzi in the hotel was all for us!) but when one of us used it the water leaked on the floor from beneath the tub and when we phoned the front desk, the night host could not do anything to help us but told us to use some towels on the floor to absorb the water (and it was a lot!). We could not use the bath anymore..if a service is provided in the hotel room it should properly be functional. We were expecting them to change the room or provide an alternative service to make our stay more confortable; we can understand that something may not be working for some reason, but we cannot understand why nothing can be done to balance the inconvenience...many excuses the following morning...no bath...no discount.

The staff at reception were fantastic. They organised tours, bookings etc very efficiently. The included buffet breakfast was the best we had during our month in europe. Once we found the hotel[the website map wasnt very clear] it was very handy to both St marks square and the rialto bridge. Plenty of restaurants close by and a gondola stop 1 minute from the hotel.

I've stayed here many times and LOVE IT. The nearness to the train station is always the first draw...but the outstanding service, rooms and moderate price is just as attractive. The internet point in the lobby is very convenient, but, to save a few Euros a few doors down there is a very inexpensive internet point. I'd send any traveller here. It never disappoints.

The hotel is conveniently located very close to the station, within walking distance from all places of interest. The staff is helpful, and check-in/check-out procedures are fast. Our room was not very big, but it was clean and equipped with everything we expected. We had a back room, with windows that opened on a quiet veranda, so we had no noise at all. Breakfast is basic, but served in a pleasant room with painted ceiling. The luggage storage room is under key, so you feel safe leaving your things there for the day. The area is not very attractive, but the city is so beautiful, that we didn't mind the hotel surroundings.

THe Hotel was nice and clean. Close, really really close from the train station, the only problem is that the areas around were not nice.... Nothing happens, we were secure, but wasn't nice and the first night we were not felling that secure about being around late at night. THe recepcionist were all of them really really good and everyone knew English.

An excellent hotel at a reasonable price, particularly for Firenze where I know from experience you easily spend large sums of money. Position is convenient for the railway and bus stations and easy walking distance to the main centres of attraction.

Good, solid hotel. Would definitely stay here when in Florence again. Points to be aware of before booking - no wifi in rooms as I had anticipated, streets in Florence are very noisy so bring earplugs if you sleep lightly. Breakfast is just ok. But the room was cleaned well each day and the staff were friendly.

Great hotel ideally situated for the station. Staff were delightful and very helpful. Breakfast just on the good side of o.k. I would have liked to be offered fresh fruit. If value for money and service were the main criteria, I would stay here again.

The hotel was very close to all the activities we had planned. It was on a busy street, so night time was loud at times with sirens and people talking very loud. The breakfast was very good. I would recommend this hotel it was clean and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel Boccaccio was so conveniently located, walking distance to everything, including to the rail station. It is a beautiful, historic, well-appointed hotel with every conveneience. The breakfast room and service were great. We'd love to stay here again when next we visit Florence.

The hotel is about 30 steps from the train station! The front desk was very friendly and can speak english!! I had a problem with the safe (i locked in all my money with the previous guest's code). The staff called the safe company the next morning and showed genuine concern for my problem. Did i mention they had an elevator and internet access in the lobby!

This is my fifth stay at Boccaccio Hotel. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. I have only one minor complaint and that is when the rooms are cleaned for the day the cleaning people tend to use too much bleach or cleaning solution in the bathrooms and the order lingers in the room. I had to keep the window open almost during my entire stay. If they could cut down on using harsh chemicals that linger that would be great. Other than this very minor detail, i will definitely stay again.

We chose the Hotel Boccaccio because of its closeness to the train station on the map. When we walked to the hotel from the train, we found it even closer than we had anticipated. The staff was very helpful in answering our quesions. The breakfast was good. Due to the low value of the dollar, the hotel seemed a little expensive, but what isn't in Europe these days. We would stay there again due to its location.

We stayed at Hotel Boccaccio for 4 nights in October 2007. It was chosen for the closeness to the train station (we flew via Pisa airport) and easy access to all the sights (we walked everywhere). The receptionist was charming and our room 104, although a little small, was at the back overlooking an interior courtyard. We were not troubled by exterior noise, although interior sound-proofing was not so good. Our bathroom was very clean and modern with an excellent shower. Clean towels appeared every day. The last night we were troubled by mosquitoes so we regretted not packing our own bug zapper! The location of the hotel is a little rough, although not at all threatening, and there are plenty of people on the street late evening. Not sure I would want to be out after midnight. The are local shops. The receptionist recommended the supermarket by the station: it is awful, shop round the corner! We found a nice restaurant within a few minutes walk (turn left out of the hotel and left again down the side street. At the next junction the restaurant is on the opposite left corner). The restaurant associated with the hotel is good too. The main disappointment was the poor quality of the breakfast. Unfruity orange juice, tasteless coffee and flabby bread. Rather inexcusable when such good materials are available locally.

We were very happy with our three days at Hotel Boccaccio. On the positive side, all staff with whom we dealt were friendly and helpful, our room and the public areas were very clean, the air conditioning and plumbing worked well, and the breakfast was more than adequate . The convenient location - one block from the train station and two blocks from from major car rental agencies, - meant that we didn't need taxis. Moreover, the hotel is within walking distance of most major Florence sites. On the negative side, like some other reviewers, we found the beds too firm and our standard double room a little cramped. Although there was considerable street noise during the daytime and evening, it was quite quiet during sleeping hours. On balance, we would not hesitate to stay here again.
