We truly enjoyed our stay in Florence. Federico greeted us warmly and went out of his way to give us very helpful tips and ideas regarding places to eat, the local sights and a great map and directions. He answered our questions always with a cheerful smile and greeted us by name each time we went past the front desk area. Federico even recommended a local favorite restaurant and provided us with a card with his name to allow us to obtain a great discount. Now that is a Concierge looking out for his clients. The room was very elegant and the facilities outstanding. The location is ideal for seeing Florence and the proximity to the train station doubles the value when you do not have to use a taxi or bus to get to the hotel. Less than 5 minute walk works for me! Plus the tour we booked picked us up right at the train station, how's that for convenience? We have already decided we will come back to the Boccaccio and are strongly recommending it to friends who intend to travel to Florence in the near future.

I've stayed at much more expensive hotels but never had better service. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The lobby is comfortable as was my room. The cappucino was excellent, although the breakfast was nothing special. It was a fantastic hotel for the money.

Area was rough and I did not feel overly safe when out at night walking. Room was very dark and noisy at night. Good size for a room in Italy. Room was clean which is always my main concern. Bed was soft and could have been a better quality mattress for the price of the room.

The hotel has the big advantage of being close to Santa Novella train station and to the main monuments of Florence. Unfortunately in via Della Scala there are too cars with consequent noise and pollution.

Very close to the Santa Maria Novella station and easy to find. I had a single room that felt rather small. You had to keep the window closed in order to sleep at night and unfortunately if the people in the neighboring rooms spoke loudly they would disturb you. It wasn't a major problem. The staff was very nice and professional, and they handled a misunderstanding about a reservation at the Uffizi very well. The public areas were nice for a three star hotel and the breakfast ok; the coffee could have been better. The value for money was unbeatable, taking into consideration that I stayed at the hotel during the absolute peak season. I stayed for three nights, and would definitely recommend this hotel for shorter and longer stays in beautiful Florence.

All our expectations regarding location, type of room, size etc were met adequately. Breakfast was good and sufficient variety was there. Charges for Sunday were higher by 15Euros which is not logical. Service to tourists new to Italy can be better like charging of phone/camera since standard European plugs/adopters do not work and no near by store has them. ofcourse this info should be given by tourist sites also. Overall very much satisfied by stay.

The staff was extremely helpful. When I asked for directions to a business center so I could print out tickets for an upcoming museum visit, they told me to email them to the front desk and printed the ticket paperwork out themselves. The room was lovely and I was stunned at how well the windows blocked noise, especially on a busy street. I would definitely recommend this hotel and stay there again.

The location was perfect - right by the railroad & bus stations and easy access to the airport. The staff was amazingly helpful, kind & with humour. Breakfast was good. I found the bed a bit hard, the room small & not great venting in the bathroom, but everything else made up for it and more.

Just two minutes from the central station and a ten minute walk from the centre of Florence the hotel is ideally situated for visiting Florence. The location on a main road is of course not picturesque but that hardly mattered. The hotel is small and the rooms are sufficient and for three days of tramping the streets to view the sites of Florence it was perfect. It is not a hotel in which to sit and relax though the small lounge area in the foyer was comfortable enough to avoid being stuck in your room. Breakfast was adequate but not extensive and the coffee available is limited in volume.

This is the ideal place if you arrive by train and aren't looking for the most quiet place in town. Our room looked out on the main train station and the street passing it, with a lot of 'Italian-style' traffic. When the window was closed, the traffic noise was almost 'turned off'. The restaurant nearby, Grotta di Leo is recommendable.

My friend and I shared a twin room. Excellent position. Very close to main railway station and walking distance to all attractions. Recently refurbished. Satisfactory breakfast with good coffee. A kettle in the room to make tea/coffee would have just rounded off a great little hotel.

Room was clean and services were as described, the buffet breakfast was also great value. Internet connection was good once paid for, no issues with drop outs. Bathroom was a little small however adequate. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Being located so close to the station was great, however on the other hand, whilst we didn't have any problems, after dark the hotel surroundings were probably not the nicest part of town.

We were in Florence for four days and three nights. The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we were traveling by train and it was only a block away from the train station. There were many sites within walking distance as well as some good resturants. Breakfast was a very typical Italian breakfast consisting of hard boiled eggs, yogurt, pastries and cereal. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.

Very close to the station, as Florence is small you reach easily every main touristic location having left you lagguage as soon as you arrive in town. Both concierge very professional. I had a doouble room for myself alone, not really big, but still enough to live (in Florence you dont' stay a lot in an hotel room!). The curtains didn't closed fully so a little light entered in the room.

Very nice place to stay. The rooms are spacious, which is a nice surprise across Italy. Very clean, bright and cozy. The breakfast was relatively poor though. Close to train station and therefore a great location for those who are traveling across the country. A bit far from Ponto Vecio and Uffici, but quite close to other attractions in the city.

We enjoyed our stay, found the hotel so convenient to the train station and directions easy. Everything was within walking distance in Florence. The lovely dining room served a very good breakfast and we appreciated hard boiled eggs on the buffet. We wish we had a confortable chair to sit in in our room but we used the lobby for this as well as the internet access in the lobby. The travel bureau around the corner run by Louisa was most helpful in booking a Tuscany tour which was excellent. We would recommend Hotel Bocaccio and give it a 3* rating.

A hotel I will recommend without hesitation to all those traveling to Florence. A short one and half block from the train station, across the street from a charming cafe, and close to sightseeing opportunities make this location ideal. Rooms are small but well apppointed with good amenities. The breakfast room is excellent with good and ample choices. Staff is professional and helpful. And last but far from least - excellent value! A real winner!!!

I could not stay Hotel Boccaccio. They could not prepared the room beause of the trouble of water supply and asked me to stay Hotel Adler Cavalieri. This hotel is near the Boccaccio, so it's not problem for me to change the hotel. Hotel Adler Cavalieri is 4stars hotel and I could stay there the same rate and same conditions at the Boccaccio. I think Boccaccio`s manner for me is very good and respctable.

I have stayed in this hotel before and find the location very convenient, close to the station so not far to go with the luggage on arrival and in easy walking distance from all the important sights. The buffet breakfast is good by Italian standards including ham, cheese and boiled eggs and the price I paid was very good value for money for the overall standard of accommodation and service. My only complaint this time (in mid December) was that the heating in the fairly small single room was too fierce and not controllable enough, it was always too hot unless I opened the window or turned it right off. I do not complain about the smallness of the room as this is to be expected in old buildings and I only want to sleep there.

Very Close to the train station and easy walking to many attractions. Our room was overlooking the busy alley but had absolutely noise-proof windows! Open them up if you want to hear the city. Window shutters also can shut out light entirely. Morning Concierge could have been more helpful with directions to our car rental agency - he just pointed and said they're all one block that way. He was incorrect and we had to wander a few blocks "that way" and turn before we found it.

Definitely recommend this hotel for travellers looking within the price range. Easy to take bus from airport to the bus station (hotel is just down the street). We could walk from the hotel to all tourist destinations. The desk staff were very helpful upon our arrival with maps, etc. There was a travel agency next door that helped us procure reservations to the museums (a must). The train station is nearby, and we were able to take a day trip to Siena. The hotel has several nice restaurants nearby. Room was not large, but they typically aren't in Europe. Breakfast was fine -- pretty much what we expected. Would stay here again.

Excellent location being 5 (walking) minutes away from train station/main tour guide bus terminal including a travel/tourist info office. Walking distance to most main attractions. Clean room/bathroom, mattress comfort - poor. Our room was on second floor on the side of a noisy small lane type street, could not leave window open cause it was very noisy, people hanging out for part of the night but when closed, you could not hear a thing. Good breakfast starting at 7:30 am but the Lady serving coffee had an attitude, she just did not seem to want to be there with public, no personality. The first morning, we sat at a table for 4 so to take a picture of the breakfast area (no one else around at 7:30), she said not sit there cause it was a bigger table. The next mornings, I never saw more that 6 people having breakfast, there were about 15/16 tables (in 10-15 minutes for breakfast and you are out of there to start your day in Florence). Another time, since we had to catch a 6:45 am train the next morning to Genoa (my wife takes medication with food in the morning) my wife packed 2 small rolls for train ride and put them in the fridge in our bedroom. She told me that I could not take out food cause there would not be enough for others (2 small rolls?). My wife told her the reason, took the rolls anyway and suggested she should change jobs. We mentioned it to the reception desk of her unprofessionalism and rudeness upon our departure . Other than that courteous staff. I would recommend and return.

By car, finding the hotel was the main problem although our GPS got us there. The extra cost of valet parking makes this hotel expensive; but the valet service was excellent. Charge for Internet was costly. Location is well withing walking distance of anywhere in the centre of Florence. Air conditioning worked very well and the room was quiet enough even though it was on the main street. The room was small. The breakfast was adequate. The ceilings in the reception area and dining area are exquisite.

Good, basic hotel. Very convenient to major sites. This was my 7th trip to Florence, so I was familiar with the city, but it was a good place for my guests to stay. Good, recognizable reference points if they became lost. Internet did not work, though, and I count on that in hotels. Luckily, there were several internet businesses nearby. Cheaper, albeit dirtier.

Very conveniently located to the Florence train terminal - which was a plus in the eyes of the 4 of us 55+ traveling through Italy by train! Walking through the door we received a very warm welcome by the desk staff and were quickly settled into our rooms. One room had a small private balcony, the other overlooking the street. Both rooms were of a comfortable size and were clean and quiet. The desk staff was very helpful in providing directions, and opening the private terrace for us to unwind with a quiet bottle of wine (even providing us with wine glasses and a corkscrew!). The best info they provided was to the restaurant associated with the hotel (with only 1 night in Florence this trip, we didn't want o make a mistake with the meal). Their recommendation of La Carabaccia was excellent - we talked about that meal the remainder of our trip - absolutely the BEST pork (with mustard sauce) ever!!! After checking out, we left our bags at the hotel for a day of exploring Florence and picked them up for the 5 minute walk to the train station. The only down side for the hotel was the breakfast was a little sparse - but adequate.

The rooms were small but the price was right. This was an older hotel with a lot of character. The private baths were modern. The hotel was close to everything and we walked everywhere. There is a Travel Agency next door that provided us with a wonderful tour and where you could purchase train tickets also. My only complaint is the internet. Wi-Fi cost 1.5 euro for 15 minutes. It is cheaper two doors down at an Internet Cafe. The PC in the lobby didn't work most of the time and we did not bring our own laptop. The breakfast was the best we had. Service was wonderful with a good selection and pleasant atmosphere. The area is very safe. The room was a little noisy due to noise in the hallway.

The first night we stayed there, there was lots of noise from a night club right outside. We came back two days later and our room was right on the front street and after about 10 p.m. the noise was minimal. We had a room for three people and had a large room and bath. The hotel is newly refurbished and is very nice. The breakfast was very nice and the service was very nice. L'albergo non è male se si va da soli o con un amico. Il letto matrimoniale è pessimo con due materassi e due reti di qualità scadentissima, inpensabile per un albergo tre stelle

Hotel wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. Small areas - room and bathroom. The bed is a typical two beds pushed together for Italy, to create the 'matrimonial bed' that it is termed as so in Italy but they didn't use the typical mattress padding or whatever it is to join them, so we kept falling between the middle crack of the bed at night. We only stayed one night and it served it's purpose for that. The hotel is actually to the right, after leaving the train station through the left side. Was close to the center so that worked, but overall I think a slightly bigger and better hotel can be found for the same price, which we did find when we returned (for example the Caravaggio - supreme room);price of course depends on when you're traveling.

Excellent location for getting on and off train station and bus station. (Less than 5 mins walk) Grocery store near by and internet cafe next door Euro 1.5 for 1 HR. The restaurant recommended was the best for food and service we had while staying in Firenze for a week. Don't try your luck with IL Lat... (ask local where do they go for T-Bone, if you don't want to get ripped off) or charge additional $5 more for sharing a $10 pasta and tell you when you get the bill (Tra.. 13 Go.. - don't go there). walking distance to all the attractions and shopping area, breakfast was adequate. If you're look for the basic amenities and just a place to sleep while save cash to buy Prada this is the place.

Very easy to find from Train Station. Rooms facing front street a little noisey, but when we requested a room on the side street, this wasn't a problem at all. Breakfast was very good.

This hotel was everything I expected from the website, the location was excellent, near the train station but not too near the noise. Got the "Double Superior" room, which was great for me and my older daughter. Easy to walk to the main attractions, the desk staff was knowledgeable and friendly, recommending a nearby trattoria for dinner that was excellent! They provided a city map and gave directions to the sightseeing bus! The breakfast was excellent, plenty to start the day, would have liked fresh fruit, but the fruit juices were a good substitute. They have a luggage room where we left our luggage on the last day so we could go out for a while before catching the train.

Though clean and easy access to the train station, there is a bad smell from the hotel or drainage pipes. Made the stay uncomfortable. The heating did not work well so we were half frozen.

Another pleasant stay at the Boccaccio. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The single rooms are quite small but comfortable and clean. Although if you are in a city like Florence you really dont want to spend too much time in your room!

Neighborhood can be a bit offputting, but hotel is very convenient, good amenities, and nice staff. Close to the river and the center of town. Spend some time exploring the center/oldest part of town before going to see museums. "Walking Tours of Florence" (tour company) is about 10 minutes away. Good way to start your stay.

This was an excellent hotel! The staff was incredible! They were friendly, helpful, and offered great advice on where to go and what to do. The free breakfast was very good too! There is also a travel agent next to the hotel that provides assistance on tours as well. The hotel is very close (a block or two) from the train station which is extremely helpful. The train station is central to taking the buses and tours. It can appear, at first that the area is not the best, but that is quickly overcome when I believe it may have been just a group of people waiting for a bus. There are internet cafes that are a couple doors down too, the hotel was too costly, plus no need to lug around a computer. There are also a few restaurants that are not all that bad either. The offer somewhat quality meals if returning late from a day of touring. I recommend taking the tours to Sienna, Pisa, San Giamigarno (sp?), and Tuscany wine tasting (the best lunch!). Great way to see all locations and let someone else do all the work in taking you to see the best of all four places. Also to note...discovered that the food in some areas of Italy is just ok.(New York Italian is far better)...there are certain areas that are known for the food...so if you are looking to have a great meal...find the areas that are know for the food.

I travelled with 2 friends to Florence for a 3 night stay at the Boccaccio. The hotel is about 1 block right across the intersection from the train terminal in front of the main entrance, so location was good when you first arrive. The rooms were a little shabby but clean. The whole time we were there the air conditioning was not working which was annoying. The first thing the concierge recommended was to go to a restaurant affiliated with the hotel. This turned out to be a bad idea as the only patrons of the restaurant were guests of the hotel and from the USA. On top of that, the meals were over priced. I recommend staying at the hotel and finding your own restaurant with a fixed price 3 course meal. Overall the hotel was ok, the rooms weren't the most comfortable and it probably was overpriced for the quality of the rooms.

My sons, their wives and myself were well satisfied with this hotel. It is conveniently situated close to the Santa Maria Novella station, the bus station and within easy walking distance of all the places of interest in Florence. The food and drink available at breakfast were adequate. This was my third visit to the city, for anyone making their first visit I would suggest making use of the Terravision coach service for transfer from Pisa airport to Florence. Much cleaner and more comfortable than the train. Although if making a separate visit to Pisa it is better to use the latter. In all, a most enjoyable short holiday, we wished that it could have been longer, next time maybe. Thank you Venere.

Had a horrible stay in this hotel. The place looked like it was recently renovated - especially the bathroom - which is all nice but the air conditioner didn't work - just blew warm air. When I first enquired about this the guy on the desk said I just needed to turn it up. I then went out and came back. The room was stifling hot when I came back (almost as if it was over a kitchen or something). I turned up the air conditioning and more warm air. I rang the desk at 11pm and got a different guy who tried to tell me I needed to use a remote control and tried to tell me the TV remote would do. I explained that it wouldn't so he begrudgingly came to the room. The a/c was obviously too old to have a remote and he looked like he had never seen it before. He felt the warm air being blown out of it - turned to me and said it was working and if that wasn't enough open the window. I explained that an open window wasn't secure and he told me it would be fine. I locked my passport and wallet away - opened to window and tried to sleep. Made virtually no difference to the heat - just lots of mosquitos. Exhausted I finally drifted off to sleep to be awoken at 2am with a spider in the bed. Glad I was only there one night. Yes it is nice and renovated but no a/c at the end of summer when I booked the room specifically for a/c was bad and the rudeness and unwillingness to fix the problem unforgivable. Breakfast was also ordinary at best. Also, when I checked in - the guy seemed to keep my passport for an uncomfortably long time. I eventually asked for it back hours later where he claimed he still wasn't finished registering me. Didn't seem to grasp why I wasn't comfortable being without it indefinitely. I won't be back - and wouldn't recommend this place to others.

We had a room at the back, which was quiet, but the hotel is right on a busy road. The other rooms may be very noisy. The room was OK, if a little old-fashioned. Good shower! Breakfast was passable but not great. Location very convenient for city centre, station and congress centre.

We had an enjoyable stay at Hotel Boccaccio. The location of the hotel is superb, within 400 metres of the railway and bus stations and conveniently within short walking distance to all major attractions. The staff in the hotel were always cheerful and very helpful. Our room although not very spacious (adequate for our needs)was immaculately clean with usual amenities, air conditioned, unsuite, fridge,TV and safe. The breakfast provide was continental and more than adequate for us. Morning coffee was lovely. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence who doesn't wish to be ripped off paying exorbitent prices for accomodation. We travelled from Pisa airport by bus (also handy by train) to Santa Maria Novella station which was immediately around the corner from the hotel. We also travelled to Sienna by bus 50 metres from hotel to bus the station and to Pisa using the train. Good choice of hotel for us.

This was our first stay at the Boccaccio, and this hotel was wonderful! The rooms were huge and the third bed in the room (for a triple) was a REAL bed (the same for all three of us)! The bathrooms was the best of our trip (huge) and my two teen age kids raved about the shower. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very convenient to the train station. It is not a bad area, safe and with a lot of other hotels around. There were restaurants within walking distance, and everything in Florence is in walking distance. Everything worked perfectly with the exception of the air conditioner, which took off the edge of the heat but did not get very cool. When we told the front desk, they were responsive and adjusted something outside of the room, but it never got as cool as other rooms.

We had only booked our room for one night. However, we had some car trouble. The Boccaccio personal totally accomidated us. We got to stay in the same room for three nights. They were wonderful. We had a super meal just right down the street at La Carabaccia. It was excellant food and service.

It was a very nice hotel with a perfect location just right infront of the S.M.N station and there is a tour agent next door which made all ticketing things easier. The staff at reservation when we checked in was very polite, kind and friendly. The room was spacious, neat and clean...just perfect. We wished to stay longer.

The hotel is very close to the railway station to be reached on foot. Also, there are several touristic attractions in the hotel surroundings. The employees in the front desk are very kind and helpful. The closest pizzeria in the hotel street is very good and cheap. Also, in the way up to the restaurant indicated by the hotel staff, you can find other tratorias and restaurants as good as or even better.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Boccaccio and would be happy to stay there again ourselves or recommend it to friends. Our room was a good size for the class of hotel in a city like Florence. It was nicely decorated, clean, very comfortable and also very quiet. The staff were very courteous and helpful and we were delighted to be able to access our room early in the day on our arrival after a long international flight and train trip. The location, close to the rail station and only a short walk from the Duomo and other main city sights, was perfect for us.
