I loved this hotel. Perfect location and beautiful rooms. I received an upgrade to the club floor. My five night stay was wonderful. Breakfast was very good. The staff were very helpful. In terms of price and location, the quality of the rooms and service, I don't think you can beat this hotel. As a older female traveller by myself, I felt very much that this hotel was a quiet, comfortable haven after enjoying all Florence has to offer.

It is really very very beautiful hotel, very good location, very professional and very nice staffs especially the staffs in the small cafe on the ground floor. Actually, they give me very good impression. But, the price of the breakfast is too expensive but not very attractive. Only one thing need to complain is: there is not any internet connection in the room, so inconvient to check the e-mail.

We had a great time at the Bernini. We were sad to only have one night to stay. The bar was the perfect place to come home to at the end of the night. A perfect mix of modern and italian classical(the breakfast room felt like we were eating in a museum - it was so pretty!). The breakfast was good but should be included in the price and not an extra 15 euro per person. The staff was very helpful and our room had an amazing view. And the location was PERFECT! Two blocks away from the center of everything but not too close where you were in the midst of tourist traffic. I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to coming back!

I come to Florence every year for leisure and shopping brand name and stay in many 4-5 stars hotels in Florence. I found some place the room price are increasingly very high and over price compared with over all quality and services. This is the Excellent hotel with good quality of services, room - very nice and clean with all needed facility, bathroom also spacious. Just Unsure only the safty at night since outside area surrounded with street vendors which some are not local. Will definitely come back!

The room was lovely. We were there for a city break. Would stay at the Bernini again. Location was so central and everything close by. Fantastic Ice cream place just around the corner. Best Icecream in all Italy we were told, and it was.

The bathroom was especially luxurious. The bedroom was a little too dark but extremely comfortable. The only service we used was a drink in the bar which was beautifully presented. It was our first trip to this hotel and we would definitely return.

The hotel was immaculate. I think it was originally a 16th century palace but the finishes looked remarkably brand new and in mint condition. The retrofit was impeccable. The location could not be beat, in the heart of all the major sites [the Duomo, Santa Croce, Palazzo Vechio, the Bargello Museum, the Museum of the Duomo] but one block removed to be very quiet. And don't forget to note that it's within a block of the best gelato in all Florence!

Fantastic location just behind the Palazzo Vecchio and all the sites around the Piazza Della Signora (including the Uffizi, Duomo and Ponte Vecchio). It really is so convenient, it's almost worth the price alone. Arriving by car is near impossible, so I wouldn't recommend it. Our SatNav certainly became very 'Italian' at that point -- doing the equivalent of waving its hands in the air and shouting alot, before giving up! As you can see from the photos, the public areas of the hotel are very lavish. Normally, this isn't really to our taste (Liberarce's, maybe); but somehow seemed in keeping with Florence. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, though quite small, was attractively decorated (if rather less lavish), and very pleasant. We didn't try the restaurant, though the menu sounded rather good. Prices seemed pretty good value compared with the restaurants in the area. We'll definetely give it a go next time we're in Florence. Breakfast was good -- plenty of choice for everyone from the usual continental mix of cured meats/salami and cheese, to a cooked (well, it looked a bit anaemic, actually!) breakfast and cereals for those who prefer their breakfasts slightly west of the Channel... We were not charged extra for breakfast, as I think was indicated somewhere (at a rather steep €15 each, if I remember correctly). Which was nice. All in all, thoroughly recommended.

The hotel generally was of an excellant quality. BUT, the room we were allocated was noisy, not from the street but from the plumbing of an adjacent room. Every time the toilet was flushed or the shower was used the sound was loader than the noise from our own toilet and shower.

We loved this hotel. The staff was very accomodating, with suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. We stayed the first night and were given a regular room (which we had reserved). We left our bags in the hotel and went to Rome for 2 days. When we returned we were given an upgraded room which was VERY nice, for the same rate as our first room. When we left the hotel for Venice, a taxi took us to a car rental agency. On the way the driver received a phone call from the hotel. We had left a briefcase in the hotel that contained our airline tickets to fly home, so the taxi turned around and took us back to the hotel. What a great extra service this was by the hotel desk staff. It merited an extra tip for the staff. We would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Florence.

IT WAS A VERY PLEASANT STAY IN THE HOTEL.THE HOTEL IS LOCATED IN THE HEART OF THE CITY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL THE MAJOR TOURIST ATTRACTIONS. THE STAFF WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE ROOMS WERE SPACIOUS AND WELL FURNISHED. THE OVERALL AMBIENCE IS GOOD IN THE TRUE SPIRIT OF THE CITY.

Our first floor room overlooked the Piazza Di San Firenze market square with a number of landmarks clearly visable such as the historic Bargello where, in full public view, Donatello's famous David was being restored at the time. This view from our window was stunning, and, as busy and hot as it was outside, inside was peacefully cool. The double room was spacious, well resourced with fairly opulent decor. The turned back sheets and chocolates on the pillows on return in the evenings was a very nice touch.

We had 2 separate bookings under different rates. Upon arrival, the staff had automatically upgraded our bookings to the higher rate room to our pleasant surprise. As this is located in a somewhat high human traffic zone, it can be a little noisy at night even if you're on a higher floor. But it was still an acceptable level of noise. Price abit on the high side compared to the other hotels we stayed while in Italy.

The Bernin Palace is situated in a great location. Not too far from the Duomo, Uffizi and Ponte Vecchio. Ask for an inside room as it can be a bit noisy at night time. Everything would have been perfect at the hotel if it wasn't for the hotel staff not helping us find a rental car. They just told us where to go and had us searching all over Florence for a car company that had an available car to rent instead of picking up the phone and making a few phone calls for us. We spent most of the morning our first day trying to find a car. If it wasn't for this happening I would have given it a higher rating. If you do plan to go to Florence make sure to have dinner at Boccademia (spelling?),. It's only a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Excellent food and atmoshpere is so romantic!

My Wife and I stayed 3 nights at Bernini Palace and we had a fabulous stay! Admittedly we were there off season and so the rooms were quite affordable by comparison to what they may be during peak periods but I would still highly recommend staying there regardless of price. The staff were some of the courteous and helpful we have met anywhere in Italy and Stephan the Bar Manager "officially" makes the worlds best Martini's and Cocktails. The rooms may not necessarily be to my taste, (they are opulent old fashioned style) but the turn down service with chocolates, slippers, new towells, great bathrooms with good water pressure, great air conditioning, high ceilings etc etc, made up for my lack of taste of interior design. Downstairs however is different, the bar and lobby are First Class. The location is exceptional and is in realistic walking distance to everything. I would definately stay there again when we return to Florence and recommend it to anyone going!!

Our second time to Florence. Later went to Venice, where the Baglioni there was about 200 euros more. Good location, some good restaurants suggested. Staff made an effort to know our names. Our only real problem was that upon entering the room we could smell cigaret smoke from prior occupants. All in all, a very nice stay and would choose the Bernini again.

We stayed in a suite, had an excellent welcome, and were informed of all the hotels services at check in. Of all the hotels we stayed in throughout Italy this was the best. The staff was friendly and the hotel overall was a better value for the money. We will definitly stay here again when in Florence.

Great central location for all of the main attractions. We were able to walk to all of them as well as the major shopping areas. The staff was incredibly helpful and accomodating - the bartender even remembered our name on the second visit. The hotel has one of the best breakfast buffets of any place we stayed in Italy. Nothing related to the hotel, but some friendly travel advice about renting cars in Florence. It is extremely difficult to find navigate around the city unless you are extremely familiar with the roads. Outside was no problem.

What a superb experience! After some not-so-great stays at other Italian hotels, the Bernini Palace was a true oasis of service. Perfectly located within steps of the Palazzo Vecchio and the Duomo. From the moment I entered the hotel to the moment I left, the entire stay was impeccable. The staff was friendly and well-informed, the hotel itself is stunningly beautiful, and the rooms are spacious, comfortable and quiet. One small point against was an unpleasant smell in the room when I arrived, but it went away after leaving the window open for an afternoon. Internet service was fast and free, with an excellent network connection in the room. All services asked for and provided were excellent. Reservations at requested restaurants went off without a hitch. Overall, I rate it at the very top of all the hotels I stayed at during my 3-week Italian vacation. Florence and the Bernini Palace are definitely on my "visit again" list!

Perhaps I will be the only person with a bad experience at this hotel but for the money $325+ a night I thought this hotel wasn't up to snuff. They don't have a proper concierge, and at times the staff seemed stressed outand haughty e.g. when we were checking out the front desk was admonishing a mother and daughter who were 20 mins late for check out ... Rick Steves suggested we email ahead of time to our concierge to book us into the Uffizi. They made the booking and at no time told me they wouuld charge a extra fee. The hotel's surcharge was 9 euros. We didn't end up going and had to pay for both the tickets (12.50 euros per ticket) and the hotel's fee -our fault for not going so paying for the tickets were fair enough but would have appreciated knowing about their fees and that they had bought the tickets (gave us a reservation # not actual tix. Also the first night they claimed to have an "engineering" problem and put us up in a cheaper hotel down the street(grand hotel cavour roughly $225 night). When we returned to The Bernini Palace they had upgraded our room but kept reminding us that they upgraded the room and how fortunate we were...Frankly we would have been fine with the original room as promised and not to have had to change hotels. The Bernini Palace has the facade of a first classs hotel but without the actual properly trained professional staff. I would rather have paid just a little more to stay at the Savoy or paid less and stayed at the Grand Hotel Cavour which didn't have the pretensions of a first class hotel. All in all I felt the hotel was nice with a good location but that the veneer of a first class hotel made me feel riped off. There were nice people on the front desk and it's too bad that a couple of bad seeds made our stay not enjoyable... I felt like writing to the manager to tell him/her to send everyone to a hotel, management training course. Sorry to be negative but that was our experience.

Our air conditioner did not work the two nights we were there. When we complained, we kept getting told that they were fixing it. the second night, they claimed it was fixed and it was not. The staff kept saying that they were hot also. I was paying to stay they, they were getting paid. The bellmen were great , very nice and helpful. The reception staff was not very friendly when we complained. The only thing they would do for us when we left was to lower our price by $50 EURO a night, compared to the $275 plus $30 for parking and $20 each for a poor breakfast. I think if they had been more courtoues and willing to do something about the a/c being out, we would not have been as upset.

The hotel and staff were wonderfull and has a great location. We were very pleased with the selection of Bernini Palace. The staff was extreamly helpful and as our next stop was Verona the staff made the reservation for us at Due Torri there. Two comments. We drove our car there and the directions to the hotel when driving were very poor. We map on the web site would not download and even if it did it would not have helped. Even though the written direction indicated it would be easy to find it was not. Since the car had to go to a garage anyway, perhaps the garage is easier to find and then could bring you to the hotel. Breakfast as this location was only available by room service ( if this is not true then were were not explained about it on check in) and the room service charges far exceeded the cost of coffee and rolls in a local cafe. Due Torri faxed directions to us at Bernini Place, both written and a map with the route to the hotel highlighted. It was much better done. We found the hotel in Verona much easier to get to because of those directions. The hotel was also very nice. Due Torri included breakfast downstairs which was very nice. Again the "free" breakfast offered though room service was much to expensive due to room service charges. Over all we were very plesed with both hotels and would recommend them to friends traveling there in the future. Ray and Carmen Schwartz

Hotel was beautiful and rooms were very spotless and nicely decorated. There is no internet or internet access available and that would have been a plus. Our rooms smelled like a wood oven and our rooms was very small and cozy, beds were comfortable. I happened to see some other rooms that were larger. Don't know how you get one of the larger rooms, but the extra space would be nice. Bathroom size was quite comfortable and perfect size and set-up.

This was our third visit to the Bernini. The first floor renovations were a bit of a surprise, but the lounge's atmosphere has definitely improved and thankfully the traditional suites still retain their stately elegance upstairs. I did feel sorry for the reception staff who had to work with little office space and low light conditions. However, this did not adversely affect the exceptionally warm welcome or professional service that we received. The staff couldn't do enough for us! They made our dinner reservations and even inquired about opera tickets. The Bernini's location is ideal; within minutes walking distance of all major sites. It's accomodations and diningroom are superb. The Bernini is our first and ONLY choice whenever we visit Florence. We've stayed at many other 4-5 star hotels throughout Italy and there's alot to be said for truly being treated like a respected guest and not just another tourist.

Bernini Palace was one of the highlights of our short stopover in Florence. The room, the staff, the hotel all were truly a five-star experience (not sure why they are rated a 4-star.) Stayed only 1 night (Sept. 2005) but the room was exactly as requested (non-smoking double, quiet, with view of Piazza San Firenze) and shower (double shower in fact.) Our corner room overlooked the Piazza but the triple-pane glass ensured a completely quiet night. We arrived mid-afternoon and unfortunately our room wasn't quite ready. They asked us to wait with a free drink in the bar and in short-order the room was ready. Would strongly recommend the Bernini in Florence for anyone who wants to be close to the centro but still have a bit of the neighborhood feel. Wonderful location, wonderful rooms, wonderful staff and a very reasonable price for all that!!! There are also some great restaurants near-by. Try Bocaccio on Vigna del Vecchia, or Natalino's (sp?) near Santa Croce.

Excellent value for money even though there are no restaurants sited in the hotel, except for breakfast. We stayed here previously in 2003. The location is excellent and the rooms are large and very tasetfully decorated. This is one of our favorite hotels. HOWEVER, not sure about the renovations in the foyer?? This used to be very traditional and now resembles a W-Hotel. The foyer and the rest of the hotel now clash a bit and the web site photos on Venere need to be updated.

My fiancée and I stayed at the Bernini Palace in early July. We arrived to a beautiful and welcoming first class hotel. The staff being more than courteous and very helpful. Our room was amazing. We could not have asked for better accommodations. The bath area was spacious and spotless. The bedroom itself could not have been more elegant. Our stay at the Hotel Bernini was lovely. We traveled with our children. Their suite was sublime, our room elegant, well-appointed with a luxurious bath. The breakfast room was incomparable, grand and gracious. Breakfast included something for all:the best hot chocolate my little ones ever experienced; for me luscious cappuccino and ripe pears; for my husband fresh eggs. The personnel, or better said, ambassadors, attended to every request, with professionalism and grace. Special thanks to all. We had a wonderful stay! Despite the construction going on in the lobby -the location, room and breakfast were the best. We never heard any noise at night. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel!

Outstanding hotel experience in prime Florence location! Arrived to find the lobby was under construction and was largely boarded up. This was our last disappointment. We had two rooms at the end of a hall, allowing us to pass between rooms in relative privacy. Master BR was very, very large and graciously period decorated. The king size bed was under an archway that visually separated it from the comfortable sitting area/fireplace and the round table and chairs for games, drinks or snacks. The BR was seoarated from the bath by a lovely entry hall which included a large, wood carved clthing storage unit. The bathroom was grand with double sinks, robes, toilet & bidet and bath/shower. Two sets of double doors op[ened onto the campo, very noisy but energetic & fun. The 2nd BR was good size and also looked out over the campo. Location was very good with easy access to all. Museums, shopping, sight-seeing restaurants - everything an easy, delightful walk. A wonderful hotel accomodation that we will remember always....

The desk staff could not have been more helpful. My only criticism this trip was that the hotel was rennovating the lobby and during the day there was plaster dust, paint smell and incredible noise while work was being carried out. It looks like it will be beautiful when it is finished, however.

This is a wonderful hotel. It is beautiful. The room doors and carpeting are very classic. The room are beautiful. Breakfast is fantastic. It is like eating in a palace. Good location. Excellent Staff. I would highly recomend this hotel.

Location is good, close to everything we wanted to see. Hotel is undergoing renovation in the lobby so you have to walk up to the second floor to get an elevator. This hotel was the only one we stayed in in Italy that was not good about responding to emails or obtaining reservations to the various sites we requested. Overall, a good place to stay, just a bit lacking in customer service.

This hotel is superb, palatial. High ceilings, excellent decor and condition. slap bang in the middle of the historic centre of Florence. Great breakfast in amazing room. Very helpful staff, told us train times, looked after our bags for the day after we checked out. Very good value for money.

Requested room with view which was confirmed by hotel. View from window was exactly as website of Duomo Dome couldn't have been better! Breakfast service was excellent vast array of choice and if you couldn't see what you wanted the staff were very attentive and would meet any request willingly (fresh poached eggs etc.,)

An excellent facility. Rooms were spacious and very well decorated. We had a family suite, which consisted of entryway and two separate bedrooms, each with bath, one upstairs from the other (private staircase connected the two). Breakfast is spectacular - excellent food served in a historic ballroom. Front desk staff was helpful in obtaining museum reservations, both in advance of our arrival, and while we were there. Location is superb but would be difficult to reach if driving ourselves. If there was Internet access, it was not apparent.

We had a wonderful stay at the Bernini Palace in November. Just steps away from the Uffizi, the location could not be better. Our room was excellent...large, and the bathroom great with a bathtub even large enough for my 6'2" frame. Breakfast was the best we have encountered in Italy...be sure to order eggs, if you want them, they come with the buffet and are made fresh. We will most certainly stay at the Bernini next time we're in Florence.

We enjoyed the Bernini Palace. It has a great location, close the Uffizi and the Ponte Vecchico. Friendly staff. Great, beautiful breakfast room. Good tip to go to the Yellow Bar up the street for a pizza. Only complaint was the construction noise; lots of pounding, etc.

One of the elevators made a groaning noise with every use that the employees seemed well aware of and could be distinctly heard from our room. While we hardly ever saw other guests, we were told the hotel was sold out. The lobby had zero atmosphere, smelled bad, walls were scuffed, dirty and needed repair, presumably from bellmen's carts crashing into them. Twice I called for assistance with the television which would not operate and was told someone would be right up. No one ever showed. The hair dryer did not function properly. On the last morning two male hotel employees barged into our room to check the mini bar as we were getting ready, despite my companion's protests. On a positive note, the bathroom and the bed linens were very nice.

This hotel has an unbeatable location, as we were on a short stay and it was our first visit to Florence. A short walk from all major sights and shopping areas. The over-riding impression is 'impersonal'. Reception staff are aloof but very efficient, and the hotel seems to lose some personality due to not having it's own restaurant. However, I would certainly use the hotel again because the rooms are of a high standard with excellent bathrooms, and it is quiet despite being in the city centre. Don't bother getting a room with a view, as only a handful seem to overlook the Piazza and it is not especially attractive. You don't need a view anyway as you won't want to stay indoors when in Florence. Good buffet breakfast in an imposing dining room with attentive staff.
