Hotel Berna is very near to the SMN Station, within 2 mins walk. Owner is welcoming. Rooms were nice. The first night we encounter problem with the water heater, so we had to bath in cold water. However the next day, this was fixed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in Florence with Hotel Berna.

Location is very close to the train station; easy walk. Most all sights are also within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel is a small, quaint place with nice, basic rooms. They provided an excellent breakfast, and the staff was friendly and accomodating. No language barriers.

It was our first time at Hotel Berna and we appreciated. Well located (5 minutes on foot from train station, close to Duomo) with a good cost-benefit issue, great helpful staff. Breakfast just enough, but the coffe was terrific, as well as fruit salad. Wi-fi could be better, though. The bathroom is clean, and the room with air-conditioner. Finally, Berna is recommendable.

You MUST go there. This is the best hotel ever. It's only 1 block from the Station. Francesca at the reception is so sweet and will help you with whatever you need. I don't know how she does it, but she speaks like a thousand languages! The rooms (and hotel in general) are very clean, breakfast is sooo bigggggg, you will even have a nice surprise when you go back at your room after a looooong day in Florence: some fruit or sweets left in your room so you can take a break while having the gorgeous capuccino, also for free in your room. WIFI is free too. I can only have GREAT comments about this hotel. I would definitely go back. Francesca we miss you! :)

I have been to Florence many times, but it was my first stay at the Berna. The hotel location is convenient although the neighborhood is somewhat deteriorated. The elevator is miniscule, but it works. The hotel and building were undergoing renovation hence it was a bit disorderly. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was new/nice. Shower was a bit slow at times as water pressure fluctuated. The staff was delightful and the breakfast was simple, continental, but nice, fresh fruit and juices, good cappuccino. I'd stay ther again.

We were very happy at the Berna Hotel. We would love to return. We want to thank Francesca for all of her assistance in getting us to the location by auto. She was awesome! She got our reservations for the Uffizi Gallery and the Academia which proved to be the only way we could have seen those sites. The owner Paul was very helpful as well. We had a good breakfast there. Our 3 day stay in Florence is now a beautiful memory!

A little more expensive than I wanted to pay, but overall, a great price and location for the lateness of the reservation. Paolo was great and showed us the area's to visit while in Florence. Overall, it was an excellent experience.

It was perfect for us: conveniently located for trains, bus, and thus airplane connections; the staff extremely helpful and accommodating for all our requests; and reasonably priced. A gem to which we shall return.

Francesca was very welcoming and made me feel that nothing was too much trouble. I had a room at the back and it was spacious, quiet and clean. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the bus-stop for the airport shuttle but also very close to Santa Maria Novella and very convenient for the Duomo and the centre generally. This is not just a young back packer's hotel but a comfortable good value hotel for anyone visiting Florence who does not want to pay four or five star hotel rates.

Hotel Berna is a great little find, just a few meters away from the train station and in easy walking distance to most everything. Paolo and Francesca are great hosts and make you feel right at home, going out of their way to be helpful. This was my first trip to Florence so I have nothing to compare with but I would definitely stay here again.

Francesca makes the Berna the reason to come to Florence and stay here! She is magnificent! She welcomes you, gives great directions, made sure we had wake up calls early and made a wonderful breakfast. We felt at home the minute we arrived and were sad when we had to leave. The rooms were gorgeous and the breakfast and breakfast room were worth the stay.If you can go to Florence this is the only place I would stay! It is one block from the train station yet we did not notice much noise and we were able to walk to all the sights in Florence in 10 minutes.

This is a nice hotel, spacious rooms, good location, welcoming people. The only real problem is the elevator. Because it is at a top floor, walking to it is not a pleasure, but some people don't understand that interior Italian elevatordoors also have to be closed...

Hotel Berna was one of our favorite hotels - we truly enjoyed our stay! The staff is incredibly friendly, the rooms are decorated nicely, the location is perfect for seeing the sites of Florence and the price was surprisingly low compared to other hotels we stayed in during our trip through Italy.

We had a vibrant, happy stay at Hotel Berna. The bubbly personality of Francesca contributed significantly to that - she went out of her way to assist guests. There was some street noise but this is only to be expected when your main priorities are a location handy to both transport and main tourist attractions. We would very happily return to this hotel.

Y husband and I requested a "quiet" room because i lived in firenze before and i know how noisy it can be. we had a VERY quiet room, not overly large, but this is the case with rooms in firenze. the location for us was excelllent because we had a number of suitcases and wanted somehing very close to the station WITH a lift. Plaolo and Francesca were both very warm and welcoming. for the money, a great place to stay. would stay there again.

Hotel's location is quick and easy walk from Santa Maria Novella train station, with easy access to historic sites of Florence. We were warmly welcomed by Paolo who helped set us up for free Internet access in our room. Francesca was our breakfast host and most helpful and friendly regarding other matters. A good choice and value, especially if you're not necessarily looking for a hotel with lots of spacious public areas.

We were met at Hotel Berna by Francesca. She was so very helpful and pleasant our whole stay and bent over backwards to accomodate us. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would stay there again. It was close to train station. Not the greatest area but still felt safe. Everything was within walking distance.

This hotel was a fantastic value! As a single traveler in offseason (Feb), I paid only 40 euros per night for a large, charmingly decorated room. Franchesca and Paulo were both warm and welcoming - they made my stay very pleasant. The hotel is just across from the train station and is very convenient for visiting all the sites. The street is busy and is not charming, but charming sights are very nearby. You will be at the duomo in about 5-7 minutes walking. The rooms were lovely and I stayed in 3 different ones, each very nicely decorated. One room was very loud with noise coming from the B&B upstairs, so I moved. The other rooms were very quiet. In general, noise insulation is not good in hotels in italy. The only thing that I found slightly disappointing about the hotel was that it is located on the third floor of a modern building (circa 1960s), so you don't enter from the ground floor into the lobby. You have to take a lift to the third floor and from there enter the lobby, which is just a small hallway. I did not take the breakfast, preferring to head to a local pastry shop. I really do recommend this hotel as it was an unbeatable value.

Francesca and Paolo made our stay for four nights very, very enjoyable. Their personality, friendliness, and helpfulness are stellar! Convenient location - very near the street market and about a 10 minute walk from the Duomo. The lift is small, but sufficient - which was great for my wife who has had ankle replacement surgery.
