Handy location, close to the station and the main attractions, and a good 3 star property. Staff were efficient but not very friendly. The safe needed a key, but no mention of this earlier or how to get one. There was a half empty water bottle in the fridge.

So convenient to bus and train station. I was in a single room in the annex. Elevator to 4th floor. Quiet room. Bright with two windows in bedroom and one in bath. Was able to borrow hot water maker so I could have tea in room. Good breakfast in main building. Friendly, helpful staff. Very pleased.

We stayed here for 5 nights. We were allocated one of their newly-renovated rooms on the ground floor. What a pleasure!! Very well appointed, a fantasticly romantic "glowing ceiling" and large windows opening into a garden/courtyard. Breakfast (included) was sufficient. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location (right next to main railway station) was excellent. Highly recommended!

The hotel have 2 buildings. The main building is nice, but I stayed in the other building which is 500 meters away. I got 3 keys to go in our room. The first key is for entering the building (no staff in building). The second key is for entering our floor. The third key is for entering our room. The elevator is older than 60 years old. The breakfast is very good. The location is very near central station. The hotel is 500 meters to Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella, one of the oldest pharmacies in the world (since 1612).

Hotel Aurora consists of a main building and a "dependance", which is not as good as the main building and whose rooms are not so well furnished and modernized. Even so the relationship between price and quality is good.

We altered the original booking to add another night at the beginning of our stay. because of this we had to change rooms after the first night. They moved us into another building and put us into a fully self contained apartment on the 4th floor with a terrace/balcony area over looking Florence for the same price as our standard room. AWESOME!!

I stayed at the annex, where the downstairs area can be kind of creepy. But once past the doors, the place is nice, the free internet is great, and the room was spacious and well appointed. Breakfast is great, and the location allowed us to go to Pisa and be right back to the hotel to pick up the luggage. I reccomend this hotel, but the annex's lobby is dark and creepy.

without a lift, ask for lower floor to stay for travelers with big luggage. venice hotels are expensive but without breakfast, the price paid is considered too expensive. the location is nice for city wandering but a bit far from airport ferry pier. both restaurants nearby in the same alley are very delicious and not expensive comparing to venice standard but really hard to get the table.

As yo can see by the low rating that I gave this place I do not recommend it. The staff was rude and very unhelpful. The room was small, dark and looked like it had not been renovated since the Medicis lived in Florence. I didn't want to put anything on the floor because it was so dusty. The only benefit to this place is that it serves a nice breakfast and it's located across from the train station. Florence has an abundance of places to stay so I suggest looking elsewhere. I also suggest when in Florence make sure to rent a bike. It's a great way to see the city and very cheap. We loved our trip but we got the feeling that the hotel could care less if we stayed or left just as long as we did not bother them. Enjoy your trip and do your research. Italy is a fantastic country to vacation in. Ciao

Only 1/2 star hotel! This was listed as a 3-star hotel. However, it was dirty, paint peeling everywhere, curtains falling apart and coming off the hangers, A/C was broken in our room and staff would not fix it or move us until we strongly demanded - and then only next day, internet did not work most of the time (staff admitted it was an old and out-dated computer), carpet dirty and stained, wooden floors coming apart and dirty, entrance on the street constantly filled with loiterers and smokers who blocked the passage, next-room guests and their plumbing were loud and interfered with sleep (walls very thin), staff argued with each other at breakfast in front of the guests, management charged us high/full rate for the room with the broken A/C. Altogether a bad experience which others should be warned about - if you want to pay 100 to 150 USD for this hotel, be prepared.

Perfect accommodation! We had a room in an apartment house block, called 'depandance building'. It is true that you need to walk 3 minutes for breakfast - which was very good, btw; but the room we stayed in was larger than in the main building, with an awesome bathroom, and it was quiet and confortable. Nice and clean. Warm ambiance. Quality fourniture. Modern. Fully functional. We were on the top floor and our room had a large patio that overlooks the hills surrounding town. Wonderful view. We had some heating problems and it hapened to be Saturday night, but the manager (GIOVANNI)came in person -from home!!!- to fix it, 20 minutes after our complain. That shows he cares. We had an awesome stay in Aurora; we'll be back again. The only minus of that depandance building was the local old lady living the next door apt. I admit she's right, but I think she overreacts. So, my advice is: close all internal and external obsolete elevator doors with your own hands, very carefully!

Hotel personnel were very accommodating and friendly. My room was in a building separate from the main hotel, which meant that I had to take my luggage back downstairs and around the corner to the elevator for my entrance. This was unexpected and a little inconvenient, both checking in and out. Also, wireless service did not work in this building and I was told that I could connect using the phone jack, this also did not work so I had to take my laptop to the main hotel in order to use the internet. Facilities clean, good breakfast, not a bad option but should be aware of these issues if you get a room here.

Stayed 2 days. The hotel is very close the Santa Maria Novella train station. If you exit on the right from the station, you'll basically face the hotel entrance. The hotel is on the third floor, kind of strange. Personnel seems to be permanently tired. Rooms are clean, the toilet and the shower cabin are in order, clean and new. Definitely not spacious, neither room, nor bathroom. Breakfast is fine. WiFi session times out quite fast, this is a bit annoying.

We stayed in the 'Annex' and I saw some complaints from people staying there, but there were also many positive reviews. We found staying the the Annex awesome! It is true that you need to walk a block for breakfast and I don't know what the rooms are like in the hotel, but the room we stayed in the Annex was awesome! There is no elevator but our luggage was not that heavy. We were on the top floor and our room was more like an appartment - a full kitchen with full size fridge and stove/oven, a large patio that overlooks the hills surrounding town and a very quiet large room. The bathroom light was not working when we arrived but they provided a temporarly light and fixed the problem the next day (they had to re-wire an entirely new light fixture). The staff is very friendly. The free high speed internet is a bonus. The rates are reasonable and within easy walking distance of the train station was awesome. The only downside: Florence is larger than it looks on a map, so even though we were near the train station right in town, it was about a 20 minute walk to the Duomo and Uffizi gallery.

Breakfast is included which is a huge plus as is the free wifi. It is directly across the street from the SMN train station which is extremely convenient if you're coming in or out by train. 1) There is a main bus terminal below the window with busses running their engines. The weather was cold and luckily we could keep the window shut. But in the summer this would be unacceptable 2) That the entire area of the hotel is a construction zone just across the railway station 3) The room Nr. 313 looked clean and mostly it was. But when I pulled out my shirts from the upper cupboard shelf they became very dirty with obvious old dust. When I wiped the floor with tissue paper because I spilled some water the tissue paper was almost black. Again, the floor looks clean -it's in good shape- but occassionally it should be more than dusted with a vacuum cleaner The hotel is on the 3rd floor and we like to walk the stairs rather than use the elevator. We found the bannisters along the stairs to be very dirty. I guess the management doesn't anticipate stair walkers. 4) The buffet breakfest was good enough and included in the price. When I pointed out one morning that the milk was sour I got an apology and it never happened again. 5) The bathroom is very nice, modern and clean.

This hotel offers their best rates for rooms in an apartment building about a hundred meters away. Not so bad, but makes eating breakfast a pain. And they never disclose the second class room switch until after you make the reservation. This is pretty much bullshit, they should disclose the situation on the VENERE website just as they would a room without a bath, etc.

We wanted a hotel close to the station and this was perfect - straight across the road. There was work being done on the road in front of the hotel but it did not affect our sleep as work was only being done through the day. There was a fridge in the room which was very useful. Staff recommended nearby Giorgio's trattoria for a meal and it was excellent value. Breakfast was good. Room was comfortable.

- Did early/late check-in & early check-out, met the staff who is not familiar with English - The room I booked needed to go to another building which is about 100-meters far from the main building. At that time, the elevator was out of order. I had to walk to the 4th floor with my big luggages. Anyway, the staff and manager were willing to help me. They are so nice. I feel appreciate them. - In the check-out date morning, I did early check-out, the staff helped me to carry my luggages since the elevator was still out of order. He took care me for breakfast. He is friendly. At this time, I think eventhough he is not familiar with English, he tries to help and communicate. Thanks, him. - My boyfriend fell down from the stair due to the fact that the light is not bright enough. The elevator was unable to use, he carried his luggage by himself and missed two steps of the stair. Fortunately, he did pain a little.

This is extremely convenient if you have an early train to catch from Santa Lucia Station. Clean rooms and simply furnished. Take note that the hotel also has an annex a few hundred meters from the main hotel. I paid a small upgrade to stay in a large room in the main hotel. Free internet is a plus. Note that to reach the hotel from the station take the side exit to your right after you have walked to the beginning of the platform. There is tram construction outside and the hotel probably will continue through 2009. The hotel on the 3rd floor with a lift at street level. We went to the Aurora to attend a friend's wedding at a beautiful hotel overlooking Florence. Unfortunately the Aurora did not share the romanticism! Florence is an amazing city and very expensive. The Aurora was fine, but very expensive for the facilities / rooms on offer - although this is probably the same with many hotels in Florence (and I'm sure the Aurora is far better than most), with research I'm sure we could have found better value. The location's excellent for convenience (a genuine 10 minute stroll from the Duomo and right opposite the train station), being opposite the station is, as in most cities, not the nicest place to be at night. Having said that, we didn't experience any problems at all. Staff were great and friendly though - it was just the overall value we were disappointed with. I'd rate it a 2.5* rating, and nearly £400 for a 2-night stay (not helped by the Euro exchange rate) seems fairly steep I'm afraid!

The close proximity to train station and other local sites makes this a great hotel option. Our only complaint was that our "non smoking" room wreaked of the smell of smoke. We were lucky to be in Florence during the low season, as we got a very nice room at Aurora for a very low price. We paid 60 euro for a double room, which during the rest of the year costs 207 euro. Definately worth 60 euro, and definately not worth 207 euro! The room was huge, as well as the bathroom. Very clean, and silent, no words from the reception or corridor. The area around the central station might be a bit less safe during the night, so one shouldn't run around too much after midnight. The hotel is open 24 hours though, so no problem to get in even if you spend a late night out first.

Ok, let me start off with my reception. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The reception was fine until they told me I would be staying in another building. There were only four rooms that were located in a building around the block from the hotel. I had to get a map and directions to my room! Who does that? I was invited for breakfast, but it was very inconvenient to be in another building, walk 6 minutes to the building of the hotel I thought I was staying at, take the lift and eat. When we arrived at our building which housed their 4 other rooms, my fiance and I had to muster up all of our strength to open a 500 lb. midieval-type door to get in and then ride up a very rickety, not recommended elevator. There was some hair on our comforter, which was rather gross. Other than the aforementioned issues, our stay was rather pleasant.

Our stay in Hotel Aurora in Florence was outstanding!!! Since we came in the off season we were upgraded to an apartment instead of a standard room with a 30 foot balcony with a view of the city of Florence. The hotel management did not have to do this, and we were blown away by having this accommodation with a rooftop balcony with a kitchen and a view of the city through the glass doors from the kitchen table. The building was around the corner from the main hotel, but it did not matter with such nice accommodation. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We can not say enough about our wonderful stay in Florence and we highly recommend this hotel.

This was my 5th time staying at the Hotel Aurora. It's conveniently located right across the street from the train station and near many popular tourists sights. Hotel staff are very friendly.

We did not like that we had to go far away, around the corner to get into our room wich was in another building. The pictures in the web-site was far away from how it really was. The breakfast room was too small, we had to wait to get a free table, and the kitchenstaff could give some more smiles. But the location was ok, nearby the railwaystation and not far from the citysenter. The hotel was ok if you don`t expect too much. We stayed for two nights.

I selected the Aurora for a one night stay on our return to Florence, from a Tuscan adventure, before continuing our Eurail journey in Europe. Selected based upon proximaty to the train station and price, the Aurora was perfect. The room and breakfast more than adequate, and the location would have been excellant for any long term visit to Florence itself (walking or by buses from in front of the hotel), or the region using regional trains from the station across the street. While I don't know if there were good dining locations adjacent to the property, since we had found a great restaurant near the Ponte Vicchio (during our initial stay at our timeshare related property) which we returned to for our last night in Florence, it is not a long walk from anything in Florence. While there may be equally good, and certainly better more costly hotels in Florence, we'd certainly return to the Aurora for a couple day city visit or use as a regional base!

The Aurora is a really pleasant hotel; my room was comfortable and clean and I enjoy my stay. However as a single traveller I think more centrally based accommodation would have suited me more.

Location is good, just opposite to the train station, within 5 mins walk. You can find a small surpermarket, snack bar or laundry shop very easily. As for the room, bathroom and bedsheet are clean. Just the bed cover sheet is look a bit old. Service wise, they are very helpful and cheerful. Willing to answer all question you had. The -ve thing was, a/c system is not control individually. It is not on if the weather is not hot enough and you need to ask them to turn on. I feel ok as i was visited in late Sept. Breakfast room is smalll, you may need to wait if you had big group of people. Overall, its worth to stay in this hotel as compare to the price.

The worst thing : the entrance in the level 1 (hotel in 3rd floor): entrance is dirty, really not inviting ! Old-fashion elevator is nice (hopefully it receives regurlarly maintenance!) I booked 2 times a single. Had to pay more as the venere price, in order to stay in the main building ! Room, bath, TV everything very small but OK. (EUR 105/night incl breakfast). Nice curtain decoration at the big window. The first time, the thin bed linen (clean) permitted to see stains on the bed linen below. One week later,(same room)same observation, and in addition, different types of hair(!!) in the bed (also in the shower room). Friendly staff. No noise in the street before 6am. From 6.30am on, noise outside and in the hotel, cause the kitchen is so close from the room 307. (This comment concerns principally the room 307.) Very good location near of the SMN Rail station (just one road to overcross to reach the lateral west entrance). Possible to check out 10 min before train departure. The street is not a nice street at all, but close to the station.

We stayed in the hotel's annex, a few blocks from the main building. Our spacious accommodations featured a huge bedroom, a roomy bathroom with bidet and excellent shower, a fine kitchen, and a lovely balcony, with spectacular views. Outstanding lodgings at a modest price!

We stayed in Florence for 2 days. Hotel Aurora was great! The room was very spacious and well-kept. The staff was friendly and helpful. We couldn't have asked for a better location. The hotel itself was right across from the train station and our room was just a block away from that. We had a terrace with a beautiful view which we enjoyed both nights we were there. It was easy to get everywhere from the hotel and we felt very safe and secure. The bed was the most comfortable one we've ever slept on during any of our trips to Europe! We'd definitely recommend staying here.

For four people staying in this room, it was very adequate. The only complaint was the noisiness of the AC, but, hey, after two weeks in Tuscany without any AC, this was Heaven. The atmosphere around the hotel is a little interesting, but we didn't feel threatened and it was very accessible to everything.

We stayed in Florence from sunday until early thursday. The hotel was perfect, very nice that three adults can stay together in one room. The hotel was very quiet, the location close to the station considered. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. The hotel was perfectly situated close to the sights of Florence. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others, and we will definitely stay there again when we (hopefully soon) return to Florence.

Don't be put off by the dodgy looking exterior and building entrance. Upon entering the hotel on the third floor, it is the welcoming, clean and inviting hotel as shown in the pictures on Venere. Exactly opposite the train station so excellent location.

The Aurora is a good budget hotel. Very close to the train station. The hotel is on the third floor of a building. The entry to the building is a little on the shabby side and the elevator and stairs are questionable looking. The hotel itself is clean and the staff is friendly. Breakfast was included and was very good.

My mom and I and my 2 children stayed in a Quad room for 3 nights in April. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of a building directly across from the train station. The entrance to the building was directly in front of a bus stop and always crowded with people. Construction was being done in the building and elevator shaft but not on the floor of the hotel. The room and hotel public areas were nicely decorated and clean. It was noisy at night with the windows open as the bus station was directly below us. In addition, the screens had tears in them and my son was bitten multiple times by a mosquito. Overall, it was OK but I don't believe I would choose this hotel again.

This Hotel is perfect for seeing Florence, its is a stones throw (30M)from the Train station. We booked a standard room in the Annex but because they were over booked they upgraded us for freee to the Delux room. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The delux room had everything and is a steal even at the higher price if you want to pay it. We moved to the Annex the next night and its a little smaller and about 150m around the corner (3rd Floor) but again it was very clean and tidy and had everything including mini bar. We ended up stayingall 4 nights after booking only the first night. For 48/Night B&B this was probably the best deal I got in years..

The location is just in front of the train station and you can get walking to most of the interest places in Florence. We are recommemding this hotel to all our friends and family.

A wonderful place to stay. A bit worried when we saw it was on the third floor (first time we had encounted different hotels on different floors). But very pleased with the whole place. A lift to the reception, very welcoming staff, a lovely big room with decent sized bathroom. A laundrette and small convenience store nearby. Very close to the train station but no noise. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. Will definately be staying here when I return.
