Surprisingly quiet, considering the location, just across the street from the Central Station. Very convenient when travelling with train or bus.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of many Florence sights, the location however is somewhat questionable. It did not seem like the best part of town and the hotel is a walkup on the third floor of a building.

Stayed 2 days. The hotel is very close the Santa Maria Novella train station. If you exit on the right from the station, you'll basically face the hotel entrance. The hotel is on the third floor, kind of strange. Personnel seems to be permanently tired. Rooms are clean, the toilet and the shower cabin are in order, clean and new. Definitely not spacious, neither room, nor bathroom. Breakfast is fine. WiFi session times out quite fast, this is a bit annoying.
Canada, May 2009
We stayed in the 'Annex' and I saw some complaints from people staying there, but there were also many positive reviews. We found staying the the Annex awesome! It is true that you need to walk a block for breakfast and I don't know what the rooms are like in the hotel, but the room we stayed in the Annex was awesome! There is no elevator but our luggage was not that heavy. We were on the top floor and our room was more like an appartment - a full kitchen with full size fridge and stove/oven, a large patio that overlooks the hills surrounding town and a very quiet large room. The bathroom light was not working when we arrived but they provided a temporarly light and fixed the problem the next day (they had to re-wire an entirely new light fixture). The staff is very friendly. The free high speed internet is a bonus. The rates are reasonable and within easy walking distance of the train station was awesome. The only downside: Florence is larger than it looks on a map, so even though we were near the train station right in town, it was about a 20 minute walk to the Duomo and Uffizi gallery.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Aurora and highly recommend it. The staff there, (Maggy, Giovanni, Maria Teresa), were wonderful, welcoming and very helpful. Breakfast is included which is a huge plus as is the free wifi. It is directly across the street from the SMN train station which is extremely convenient if you're coming in or out by train. Not a single negative at this place for us and would love to return someday.

1) There is a main bus terminal below the window with busses running their engines. The weather was cold and luckily we could keep the window shut. But in the summer this would be unacceptable 2) That the entire area of the hotel is a construction zone just across the railway station 3) The room Nr. 313 looked clean and mostly it was. But when I pulled out my shirts from the upper cupboard shelf they became very dirty with obvious old dust. When I wiped the floor with tissue paper because I spilled some water the tissue paper was almost black. Again, the floor looks clean -it's in good shape- but occassionally it should be more than dusted with a vacuum cleaner The hotel is on the 3rd floor and we like to walk the stairs rather than use the elevator. We found the bannisters along the stairs to be very dirty. I guess the management doesn't anticipate stair walkers. 4) The buffet breakfest was good enough and included in the price. When I pointed out one morning that the milk was sour I got an apology and it never happened again. 5) The bathroom is very nice, modern and clean.

This hotel offers their best rates for rooms in an apartment building about a hundred meters away. Not so bad, but makes eating breakfast a pain. And they never disclose the second class room switch until after you make the reservation. This is pretty much bullshit, they should disclose the situation on the VENERE website just as they would a room without a bath, etc.

We wanted a hotel close to the station and this was perfect - straight across the road. There was work being done on the road in front of the hotel but it did not affect our sleep as work was only being done through the day. There was a fridge in the room which was very useful. Staff recommended nearby Giorgio's trattoria for a meal and it was excellent value. Breakfast was good. Room was comfortable.

- Did early/late check-in & early check-out, met the staff who is not familiar with English - The room I booked needed to go to another building which is about 100-meters far from the main building. At that time, the elevator was out of order. I had to walk to the 4th floor with my big luggages. Anyway, the staff and manager were willing to help me. They are so nice. I feel appreciate them. - In the check-out date morning, I did early check-out, the staff helped me to carry my luggages since the elevator was still out of order. He took care me for breakfast. He is friendly. At this time, I think eventhough he is not familiar with English, he tries to help and communicate. Thanks, him. - My boyfriend fell down from the stair due to the fact that the light is not bright enough. The elevator was unable to use, he carried his luggage by himself and missed two steps of the stair. Fortunately, he did pain a little.

This is extremely convenient if you have an early train to catch from Santa Lucia Station. Clean rooms and simply furnished. Take note that the hotel also has an annex a few hundred meters from the main hotel. I paid a small upgrade to stay in a large room in the main hotel. Free internet is a plus. Note that to reach the hotel from the station take the side exit to your right after you have walked to the beginning of the platform. There is tram construction outside and the hotel probably will continue through 2009. The hotel on the 3rd floor with a lift at street level. The night porter knowing that I had a 6:00AM train even had some breakfast and a coffee waiting for me.

As the Hotel is opposite the railway station it is extremely well situated, also with the Sita bus station around the corner and the Lazzo bus station on the other side of the station the position was excellent for us. Also it was easy to locate after exploring Florence. The breakfasts were good, fresh croisants and rolls and unlimited coffee.

It was very useful in front of side exit of Station of S.Maria Novella. For less one minuite, Around the hotel it was so dusty and noisy under construction of street. There is the 4th floor('3rd Piano' in Italian). We stayed No313. That room is a large with big(King or Queen size?) bed, but equipments were simple and old with a TV,Minibar(water and beer),hair-dryer etc,security-box was broken. There wasn't an ashtray because of prohibited smoking in room. Bus terminal is beside of our room.We couldn't open the window because of continuos announcements and bus driving noise. Hotel quality and Staff service was good and comfortable, Near the hotel,in some minutes walking area, there are not only famous and historic places but useful shops about laundry service, exchange,ATM,bar etc.

A recommander.

We went to the Aurora to attend a friend's wedding at a beautiful hotel overlooking Florence. Unfortunately the Aurora did not share the romanticism! Florence is an amazing city and very expensive. The Aurora was fine, but very expensive for the facilities / rooms on offer - although this is probably the same with many hotels in Florence (and I'm sure the Aurora is far better than most), with research I'm sure we could have found better value. The location's excellent for convenience (a genuine 10 minute stroll from the Duomo and right opposite the train station), being opposite the station is, as in most cities, not the nicest place to be at night. Having said that, we didn't experience any problems at all. Staff were great and friendly though - it was just the overall value we were disappointed with. I'd rate it a 2.5* rating, and nearly £400 for a 2-night stay (not helped by the Euro exchange rate) seems fairly steep I'm afraid!

The close proximity to train station and other local sites makes this a great hotel option. Our only complaint was that our "non smoking" room wreaked of the smell of smoke. The staff blamed it on previous guests, but the smell never seemed to subside, even when the windows were left open whenever possible (sometimes it rained or was too cold).

The room was spacious in comparison to most european boutique hotels. The room was clean, the bathroom was great, and the staff was welcoming. The location of this hotel is just excellent! 35 meters from the central station in Florence, and from there it's close to both trains/buses/taxi, as well as sights and nightlife. We were lucky to be in Florence during the low season, as we got a very nice room at Aurora for a very low price. We paid 60 euro for a double room, which during the rest of the year costs 207 euro. Definately worth 60 euro, and definately not worth 207 euro! The room was huge, as well as the bathroom. Very clean, and silent, no words from the reception or corridor. The area around the central station might be a bit less safe during the night, so one shouldn't run around too much after midnight. The hotel is open 24 hours though, so no problem to get in even if you spend a late night out first.

Ok, let me start off with my reception. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The reception was fine until they told me I would be staying in another building. There were only four rooms that were located in a building around the block from the hotel. I had to get a map and directions to my room! Who does that? I was invited for breakfast, but it was very inconvenient to be in another building, walk 6 minutes to the building of the hotel I thought I was staying at, take the lift and eat. When we arrived at our building which housed their 4 other rooms, my fiance and I had to muster up all of our strength to open a 500 lb. midieval-type door to get in and then ride up a very rickety, not recommended elevator. There was some hair on our comforter, which was rather gross. Other than the aforementioned issues, our stay was rather pleasant.

Our stay in Hotel Aurora in Florence was outstanding!!! Since we came in the off season we were upgraded to an apartment instead of a standard room with a 30 foot balcony with a view of the city of Florence. The hotel management did not have to do this, and we were blown away by having this accommodation with a rooftop balcony with a kitchen and a view of the city through the glass doors from the kitchen table. The building was around the corner from the main hotel, but it did not matter with such nice accommodation. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful. We can not say enough about our wonderful stay in Florence and we highly recommend this hotel.

We did not like that we had to go far away, around the corner to get into our room wich was in another building. The pictures in the web-site was far away from how it really was. The breakfast room was too small, we had to wait to get a free table, and the kitchenstaff could give some more smiles. But the location was ok, nearby the railwaystation and not far from the citysenter. The hotel was ok if you don`t expect too much. We stayed for two nights.

I selected the Aurora for a one night stay on our return to Florence, from a Tuscan adventure, before continuing our Eurail journey in Europe. Selected based upon proximaty to the train station and price, the Aurora was perfect. The room and breakfast more than adequate, and the location would have been excellant for any long term visit to Florence itself (walking or by buses from in front of the hotel), or the region using regional trains from the station across the street. While I don't know if there were good dining locations adjacent to the property, since we had found a great restaurant near the Ponte Vicchio (during our initial stay at our timeshare related property) which we returned to for our last night in Florence, it is not a long walk from anything in Florence. While there may be equally good, and certainly better more costly hotels in Florence, we'd certainly return to the Aurora for a couple day city visit or use as a regional base!

Location is good, just opposite to the train station, within 5 mins walk. You can find a small surpermarket, snack bar or laundry shop very easily. As for the room, bathroom and bedsheet are clean. Just the bed cover sheet is look a bit old. Service wise, they are very helpful and cheerful. Willing to answer all question you had. The -ve thing was, a/c system is not control individually. It is not on if the weather is not hot enough and you need to ask them to turn on. I feel ok as i was visited in late Sept. Breakfast room is smalll, you may need to wait if you had big group of people. Overall, its worth to stay in this hotel as compare to the price.

The worst thing : the entrance in the level 1 (hotel in 3rd floor): entrance is dirty, really not inviting ! Old-fashion elevator is nice (hopefully it receives regurlarly maintenance!) I booked 2 times a single. Had to pay more as the venere price, in order to stay in the main building ! Room, bath, TV everything very small but OK. (EUR 105/night incl breakfast). Nice curtain decoration at the big window. The first time, the thin bed linen (clean) permitted to see stains on the bed linen below. One week later,(same room)same observation, and in addition, different types of hair(!!) in the bed (also in the shower room). Friendly staff. No noise in the street before 6am. From 6.30am on, noise outside and in the hotel, cause the kitchen is so close from the room 307. (This comment concerns principally the room 307.) Very good location near of the SMN Rail station (just one road to overcross to reach the lateral west entrance). Possible to check out 10 min before train departure. The street is not a nice street at all, but close to the station.

My mom and I and my 2 children stayed in a Quad room for 3 nights in April. The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of a building directly across from the train station. The entrance to the building was directly in front of a bus stop and always crowded with people. Construction was being done in the building and elevator shaft but not on the floor of the hotel. The room and hotel public areas were nicely decorated and clean. It was noisy at night with the windows open as the bus station was directly below us. In addition, the screens had tears in them and my son was bitten multiple times by a mosquito. Overall, it was OK but I don't believe I would choose this hotel again.

This Hotel is perfect for seeing Florence, its is a stones throw (30M)from the Train station. We booked a standard room in the Annex but because they were over booked they upgraded us for freee to the Delux room. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The delux room had everything and is a steal even at the higher price if you want to pay it. We moved to the Annex the next night and its a little smaller and about 150m around the corner (3rd Floor) but again it was very clean and tidy and had everything including mini bar. My daughter and I stayed here for almost a week. We arrived by train and only had to drag our suitcases across the street--big advantage! The hotel is on the 3rd floor. Not all the desk managers are proficient in English but they were helpful. There's a brochure for the Accidental Tourist Cooking School in the lobby that we took and it was fabulous! The best time we had in Florence. Our room was in the back and very spacious. The internet computer was right outside our room. The accomodations are very nice. Breakfast was fine. I'd probably stay there again.

this hotel is right opposite the train station. a good place to stay if you have alot of luggages. the rooms are quite spacious. however, surroundings are not realli good. places of interest are within walking distance. not much selection for the breakfast though. overall, not too bad.

Have made several trips to Florence from our base in Genova and found this to be a nice little hotel very near the train station. We were traveling with two female friends from the States and they liked the location. Easy access to all the "sites".

Camera abbastanza spaziosa e pulita. Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Comoda la location di fronte alla stazione, anche se la vista non è il massimo. In fin dei conti ci siamo trovati bene.

Very nice staff, but they did not know anything about the tours they were advertising for in the reception. We had to wait several days to run into the manager on duty before we could get information. Breakfast was good. The bed was way too small for two friends travelling together - who are not a couple. Nice bathroom. Good location next to train station.Overall a good experience for a low price.

We checked in mid-July. Unexpectedly, we were given an apartment-like room which was situated 80 metres away from the main hotel building. Though it was not on the main hotel building, the size of our room (with a big balcony) and the facilities are excellent. With that rate, we could not get another room like that and is air-conditioned next to the Firenze SMN station. Besides, the breakfast is included in the room rate and it's nice. The reception (a man) there is very friendly and helpful. Overall speaking, it is highly recommended and I definitely will go back next time.

Great location, very close to train station. The shower pipe was leaking so we asked the hotel staff to have it fixed. By the end of the day, it wan't fixed yet. So we asked again, they said the repairmen didn't come that day. It took another day to get it fixed. I don't know if it's just this particular case, or just like people say,"you know, it's Italy!" ( people take time on everything.)

Loved.... LOVED this place. We were put in the annex in a HUGE room with a gigantic balcony. The kitchen area alone was as large as most Italian hotel rooms. Okay, so the breakfast was lousy, but the room!!! I suspect we were lucky with the room we got, though. They can't all be like 750 sq. ft.

This hotel is convenient to the train station, and both quieter and more pleasant than initially expected. The entry to the building is right at a bus stop, and the neighborhood is full of various hotels. As in much of Italy, disabled/stroller access is practically nonexistent; you'll need to climb several steps to get to the lift, so plan accordingly.

The bathroom was very clean but the room a bit grungy, with dirty walls. We were upgraded from a standard to superior room so I would hate to think what standard would look like. Worst value for money of all hotels stayed at, but this may reflect Florence rather than establishment.

We were alloted the room in annexe meaning - in another part of the same building. This is very irritating considering that we had just found our way to the hotel from the train station after a journey. Now we were being asked to find another place with all the luggage in hand. And finally - the next day we had to land up at the main hotel for breakfast. We find ourselves amidst a grumpy old lady who seem to be reluctant to serve us anything. The excuse being we turned up at quarter to 10.00 am while the breakfast time was from 7.30 to 10.00. In summary - choose this hotel only if you can put up with some irritants. To be fair the rooms were clean and very functional.

For us, who wanted a place near the railway station, this hotel is excellent located. A room at a hotel on the 3rd floor of on old building for 125 Euro per night is not in balance. The breakfast is ok+ The administrative handling for checking in was rather bizarre. The clerk held our passports for almost a day. The satellite TV was rather disappointing, the world cup soccer could not be viewed and the personnel didn’t know how solve this problem.

I chose the rooms away from the train station, the rooms were very good. It was a bother to go to breakfast, come back, go to sites, but no complaint, this is what I chose. The breakfast was good, the croissants were the best we found in Italy. Access to train station was good.

We stayed in the annex at the Aurora for one night 1st June 2006. Over-all it was a very good stay. The main hotel is very near the Santa Maria Novella railway station - across the road, easy walk from the station, even with suitcases. The annex is around the corner from the main hotel. Our room was clean and although (as expected) a bit small it was quite adequate for us and, considering its city location, it had a really good view - from the bed one could see across roof tops to the hills beyond Florence. The en-suite bathroom was really good, quite large with new modern fittings, including a bidet, and very clean. The very basic continental breakfast (taken in the small breakfast area of the main hotel) was OK. Whilst access to all parts of the hotel were fine for us it could be difficult for anybody with mobility problems - the main hotel is on the third floor with access via a lift and the annex is also several floors up in a building with a characterful entrance and antique! lift. As the doors of the latter must be closed fully for the lift to operate, if the previous user hasn't closed the doors fully it cann't be called from a different floor and you might have to walk up or down the stairs, as we did once. There was just one quirk with our stay - when we checked in I asked, looking for confirmation, if we could pay when we checked out and by credit card. The (elderly lady) receptionist's reply was that yes, we could pay when we checked out but insisted that it must be by cash only, not credit card. When we checked out the following morning there was a different receptionist (younger lady) who happily accepted credit card payment, no mention of paying by cash!

The main building is very close to train station. However we were introduced to the other building which was one block behind and not convienient. The shower bath was very small and not comfortable.

We are young Asian Coupple. Aurora hotel is surprisingly near the termini. We have to take an elevator up to third floor to check in. Then the reception took us down to the street and walk to the back of the block to get in to another building. The building is old but tidy. Then we took elevator up to our unit. They said our unit is a verygood one. The unit is quiet big with a full size kitchen and large balcony, which could take view over Fierence. The unit is decorated in modern style. In conclude, we like to recomend this hotel.
