Absolut empfehlenswert!

Very convenient, close to station and S. Maria Novella. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable and spacious room. Perfectly adequate breakfast. Street is very noisy and rooms at the front suffer. Free wi fi but poor or inadequate reception in some rooms. If you need to use it, ask when checking in.

A really good find! A very good location in Florence, close to the railway station and tour starting points. The hotel is very well run with friendly staff who were very helpful. Breakfast in the courtyard was a great experience!Very good value compared to other hotels in other big Italian cities.Spacious room and a big, well equipped bathroom. It worked well for our family of four.

Reading the reviews on this website we expected more for our money. Sure the breakfast was great and the staff helpful and friendly but we found the room smaller than anticipated. We found it hard to reach the hotel by car due to road works and parking in general in Florence is expensive. The hotel's position is great, easy walking distance to the main attractions. Great bathroom packs!

We stayed in a quad room. It was beautifully decorated and even with 2 extra beds very spacious. The marble bathroom was small but had everything you needed included free toiletries. This hotel has a great feel and character due to it being a beautifully restored 15th century building. It is a 5 minute walk from the trainstation in a quiet street, near restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. I would definately stay there again and recommend this hotel for a great stay in beautiful Florence.

This was my first visit to Florence and found the hotel quite easily. It was nice and close to the train station, quite convenient. The hotel was lovely, nice personal touches made you feel at home. My only complaint is the paper thin walls, the noise from the other rooms and hall did keep me awake.

Great Hotel for the price. Rooms were huge compared to any hotel we stayed in Europe. Large two room suite for the four of us. Great location, ten minute walk to Uffizi.

We stayed in Paris for a week, Hotel Aprile for 3 nights and Rome 3 nights. By far, the Hotel Aprile was the best. Very nice hotel and great location. Our room was not ready when we got there at 8:00 am, which we thought it would not be, but they offered us a better room at the same rate if we wanted it, but it was next to the street. It was somewhat noisy but they told us that going in.

Hotel with character. Very comfortable and staff were very polite & helpful, unlike, it seems, the average Italian shop assistant ! Location was excellent - a few minutes walk from just about anywhere in Florence and very handy for SMN station. If returning to Florence would stay there again.

We only spent one night at the hotel, however, the room was very large, very clean, well appointed. Staff was outstanding - they guided us through the narrow streets of Florence by phone until we reached the hotel. I would not hesitate to return to the hotel. The hotel is within walking distance of all the important sights and main shopping area. We had no trouble finding our way around and back to the hotel.

Although it wasn't in the most desirable neighbourhood of Florence, it was handy for transport and within easy walking distance of the sights and numerous bars and restaurants. It was well worth taking the number 7 bus from the bus station to Fiesole (20 mins), a fab view of Florence! The staff were very helpful and pleasant and the room very nice.

Nice, quiet and friendly hotel in a convenient location close to the railway station (and everything else). Good breakfast with great coffee or hot chocolate to your liking. The mosquitoes were a bit bothersome even at breakfasttime, so bring repellent.

This is a lovely hotel and we were extremely satisfied with the beautifully decorated room and the assistance of the very accomodating staff. The hotel is just around the corner from the train station which was perfect for us. The area was fine, not what you would expect for such close proximity to the train station. A 7 euro cab ride to the furthest site and you can walk back. Worth it, even on a hot day. Just wonderful! If you sit out in the hotel's lovely garden be sure to take some bug spray though, they're little critters and you don't know they're there until you've been bitten real good. Sight seeing tip: The Accademia Museum (David!) is free after 19:00! Confirm before you go, but that was the policy last week. Big savings and supposedly, there is no line at about 20:00.

I loved this hotel. There were 4 of us (women) and we stayed in the Family Room. It was beautiful! Two rooms, they were huge and the decor was amazing. Also, I had asked the front desk to ship some things home for me and they gladly did it, most hotels would send you to the post office yourself. That's service!

Had a wonderful stay at the hotel. We had a quad room which had two double four poster beds and lots of space. Big bathroom. Lovely courtyard for breakfast and cocktails in the evening. Hotel was charming. Rooms were huge and elegant. Staff gave good recommendations for restaurants. Our room was huge with 1 1/2 bathrooms, and a large alcove sleeping area. But, the a/c did not work properly. And there was only one wall unit. A room this size needed at least 2 units. They were able to provide several fans, which makes one think this is an ongoing problem. I would stay in this hotel again, but for the neighborhood which was a bit sketchy. Just around the corner from the main train station, but I did not feel safe walking up to the station. And the hotel was not v. conveniently located to activities.

Short walk and feasible with rolling bags from central terminal, that is if you don't have google maps pinpoint the location for you...which can land you three long blocks from its actual location. Cute window boxes of flowers mark hotel. Weather was steaming hot on 11:30 AM arrival, desk clerk was not particularly hopitable, but the room was ready, ample size, squeaky clean, well appointed, and AC already had it down to about 70F. Complementary breakfast in small garden was good; servers happy to accomodate special requests. Hotel well situated for walking to everything in Florence virtually in one loop. Only disappointment was that English seemed to be the preferred language and fellow guests seemed mostly American like us. Probably because it's just the kind of place we like.

The only negative point was the air conditioning. It was too hot and the AC not adequate. The breakfast was excellent as you also got eggs and bacon so was a full breakfast. We were lucky as we had a room at the back, which I had requested previously, so it was very quiet. However, we could not open the window as it was full of tiny red spiders on the outside ledge and they were coming inside when the window was opened. I don't mind insects but I think the cleaning staff should have spotted these and sprayed. The hotel was in an excellent spot. Near the station so we could walk with our bags and also near to the Duoma. I highly recommend this hotel.

The Aprile Palazzo dal Borgo is an excellent hotel for tourists. The staff was very helpful in providing information to get us around Florence. The breakfasts were excellent and the service top rate. The staff recommended a nearby restaurant on a hidden side street - a restuarant which we would have never found on our own - it turned out to have wonderful food and service for the price. The hotel is only a short walk from the train station, which has obvious advantages, but also means that it is close to the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, which is somewhat run down. On the other hand, just a few farther blocks away are some of the most exclsuive fashion establishments in Florence. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Florence and found this little hotel a real surprise and delight. I was there during my birthday. The date was noticed by the desk when examining my passport. Before dinner that evening, a bottle of prosecco on ice with glasses was brought to our room. It was such a thoughtful gesture. I would recommend this hotel without question and look forward to my next visit there.

Found the hotel quite quickly and stepped into another world. Staff very welcoming the receptionist even noticed it was my husband's birthday from his passport and sent a bottle of champagne to our room curtesy of the hotel. We opened the bedroom window and we had a lovely view of the church and dome. Breakfast was very good in a cosy dining room. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would return for longer next time.

The hotel is within walking distance of both the train station and the city centre. The washroom is clean and the room is spacious but feels a little bit old. It could be said to be a good 3-star hotel but I'm somehow not convinced that it should be called a 4-star.

We were accommodated in exactly the way we required with a double room and a room with 2 single beds. Correspondance directly with the hotel in English was quick and thorough. They booked the 2 principal art galleries so that we did not have to queue unduly. Breakfast was excellent and the hotel alltogether smart. The building is attractive and well maintained, particularly considering its great age. Very enjoyable!!

It was my first time visiting Italy and I couldn't have picked a better place to stay in Florence. The Aprile is in a great location and is within walking distance of many sites in Firenze. The staff was excellent. We had arrived very late, due to missing our train from Rome to Florence. They held the room for us, even though we didn't show up until after 10pm. We were starving so the gentleman at the desk made reservations for us at a local trattoria....and the food was extraordinary. They were able to arrange Uffizi tickets for us, even though the website indicated that there were no tickets available. Our room had a spectacular view into the courtyard of the hotel and over the lovely roof-tops of Florence. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a central location to stay while visiting the city. I will definitely stay here during my next visit to Florence!

What a wonderful gem! Our room was beautiful with a canopied bed and a large bathroom. The terrace downstairs was very relaxing. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Aprile. We have 2 young adult children, and their needs were met. Upon arrival, our quad. room's ac was not working. They had people there quite quickly. The a.c. was not able to be fixed right then, so they moved us to 2 new rooms. The garden area was very nice for breakfast. There did seem to be a mosquito problem, so bring some bug spray. The area is very convenient to the sites of Florence.

Location near yet between the train station and the tourist sites was very good. Although based on the outside look of the hotel, I might not have stayed there had I not already booked the hotel, the room we had was very spacious, clean and nice. It was at the back of the building so it was quite. We only spent one night, but had a very nice stay. Looking forward to a return trip.... This is a lovely hotel in a great location with friendly staff and added extras like I had a fresco in my room from 15th century! My friend and I stayed at the Hotel Aprile for 3 nights and were very pleased with our choice. Our first night, we were in a large room at the front. It was very spacious, featured a beautiful, old armoire, and had a very clean and modern bathroom. However, it was very noisy (motorbikes whizzing by and dogs barking all night). We asked to move to a courtyard room at the rear - the hotel staff were very accommodating, and we were very comfortable in the new room. It was smaller, but with a very pleasant decor and plenty of room to move. From our window we had a partial view of Santa Maria Novella. I loved the public areas of the hotel because they really gave you a sense of what the palace must have looked like originally ... I only wished the hotel had some printed information on the building's history. The breakfast room was bright and comfortable, and though the selection was limited, the continental breakfast was good. It was nice that the hotel provided packaged crackers and pieces of fruit - they saved us a few times from having to buy morning/afternoon snacks. The location of the hotel is good - walking distance to the train station, steps from Santa Maria Novella (which was one of my favorite places we visited while in Florence), and only a few doors down from the Santa Maria Novella pharmacy, which is fantasic (readers of Rick Steve's Florence guide can learn more). I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is visiting Florence, and I would definitely stay there again on a return trip. Just make sure you ask for a room at the rear (or bring earplugs). :-)

Fabulous Historic Hotel in Busy Florence historic center Our room was both charming and immense, that’s bigger than Huge. - Only King sized bed we found in all of Italy - but the bed sagged on one side. The room was big. The domed ceiling appeared to be up to 30 feet high. This was an authentic feature that added to the experience. Unfortunately, it also added to the echo. Note to owners, put up some tapestries, or paintings on the walls. The room, lobby, breakfast area, and outdoor courtyard were reason enough to stay there. What pushed the property over the edge were the discretionary courtesies provided by the front desk staff. A month before our arrival, they got in touch with the ticket office at the Uffizi and Piti Palace. This avoided waiting a half day in line just from this courtesy. We spoke with other tourists at the Uffizi who’s hotel was "unable to reach the ticket office". Ours succeed based on a single email request. Thank you Aprile. They also helped us find a very nearby laundry mat. Might not sound like much here, but when your on the road and can have everything cleaned for the price of two items of hotel dry cleaning, your very happy. In general, the front desk people made the stay a success with their attitude. Joyce, Barbara, and the night guy were a joy. The in-hotel Lecture on Florence from Alexandra was a special treat. After our first day of touring the Uffizi we knew that we were both overwhelmed and under prepared for the centuries of art at our fingertips. Hotel April was able to arrange a couple of hours with a private tour guide for our next day. I highly recommend anyone headed to Florence to contact Nadia Ghelli - petricci.nadia.ghelli@tin.it Contact me at: petrucci.nadia.ghelli@tin.it

I thought this hotel was very charming. The courtyard was so pretty and peaceful,a nice place to relax before or after sightseeing. I asked for a room facing the garden and that really made my stay. My room was small but I thought they had made the best use of the space. The bathroom was new with enough counterspace, good shower head, great water pressure and a hairdryer that worked well. I would definately stay here again, should I be so lucky to be back in Florence again. The staff was also was nice without being intrusive and they all spoke english very well.

Thank you to the welcoming desk and other staff at Aprile. With their assistance, heartily feasted at a nearby & reasonably priced trattoria. The next day, we wasted no time getting to & into museums. As most arrivals by train, the hotel is easy and convenient to find on foot. We loved staying in Hotel Aprile. The low-ceiling, narrow hallways had such an old-world feel, and the receptionist was incredibly accommodating, no matter what language one spoke. The internet corner was especially convenient. I can say the shower temperature fluctuated a bit, and our room just happened to overlook a busy street which had motorscooter traffic throughout the night, but this seemed minor compared to how well we enjoyed the layout of the room, with two bathrooms to accommodate my husband and my getting ready at the same time, also their bar area and antique furnishings gave a very cozy, comfortable atmosphere to the hotel. We would gladly stay at Hotel Aprile again, and recommend it to all our friends traveling to Florence!

Our room was small (but we knew that when we booked) and pleasant. We booked the specific room because it was quiet and had a fresco on the ceiling. To wake up each morning with quattro putti floating overhead was lovely. The location was good because we stayed mostly in downtown Florence although the street the hotel was on was under construction, but so is most of Europe. We would stay there again.
