We stayed 2 nights and spent little time in hotel so served our purpose well. Breakfast was fair. Typical of European hotels smoke lingered in hall ways and into the rooms. Small rooms. Clean. Quiet. Good location from centre of town.

Compared to other hotels in the area, this hotel is a bit farther from the Novella train station and the Duomo. It's a 5 min. walk before you can get to the nearest store or restaurant. The place is also kinda old and it shows with the room's layout. There is an A/C unit in the room but you're not given the remote control as the staff claims it's 'centrally controlled'. So if you feel hot or stuffy then you're left with opening the balcony glass doors; while this provides ventilation it'll also allow the mosquitoes in. There is free wifi and breakfast is adequate (comes with the room rate).

Staff was excellent but this hotel is just too remote from the main sites of Florence. the bathroom was very very tiny and was difficult to even move inside of it. Air Conditioner was difficult to figure out and weak at best and the TV did not have any international channels. Staff couldn't even get them to come in.

For us it was a little far from where we wanted to be but it wasn't too bad. The park across the street is rather barren in terms of nice grass and overall beauty. The good part is that the hotel is in a more quiet area. The bed was comfortable. Room was small. The breakfast was a typical breakfast but more on the minimal side. Acceptable but nothing to write home about. The staff was nice. My daughter thought the elevator was something out of Harry Potter.

Beautiful rooms but the airconditioner is not enough to cool 2 adjoining rooms; the staff were friendly and check in/out were no problem. If not for the mosquitoes I would strongly recommend it

Pros: - The hotel stays in walking distance to the main tourist attractions. - The staff is really helpful and friendly. - They clean the rooms every day. - Carparking service is offered by the hotel (a guy takes your car and parks it in a garage somewhere else in the city). Cons: - Quite loud environment, noise from the square in front of the hotel and the guests inside (its italy!!!). - Bread of the breakfast was not fresh. - Carparking service costs 20Euro/day

The room we occupied advertised as having a view was fabulous. It was spacious and clean with a spectacular view of the mountains. It got a bit noisy at night because it was situated in front of Piazza dell'Indipendenza with a lot of students staying out late and partying. We liked the room and Florence so much that we extended our sty by an additional 2 nights. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. I would not hesitate in returning to this hotel.

Located across road from Piazza Independance; nice old building with good views across park. Hotel was comfortable, attractive and breakfast on verandah was a lovely spot. We walked everywhere we wanted to go from here. Be prepared for lots of long queues to some galleries.

This hotel and its staff were wonderful. The only complaint I have is that once we got off at the train station, we didn't know what direction to walk in to find the hotel. The hotel is not located across the street from the train station. It is about a 10 minute walk to get there. Would I recommend this hotel to others??? YES!

I would definitely recommend this hotel - it is within easy walking distance of the main attractions of Florence. It is about 10 min walk from the train station (make sure that you have a good map). The room was spacious but the bathroom was tiny - but standard for Italy hotels within this price range. The view over the piazza was spectacular, however, it was a little noisy at night. Very helpful hosts, and the breakfast provided was good.

Hotel Andrea was a lovely place to stay. I stayed for 4 nights and had no problems whatsoever. The location is great, though it is not directly across from the train station (which is actually good) It was not a far walk to get to all that anyone would want to see in the beautiful city of Florence.

We were travelling with a family of 4 and found the quad room to be spacious and comfortable. The location of this hotel is excellent, within walking distance of most sites, transportation and good restaurants. We had a front room on the upper level with an excellent view of the city. The folks at the hotel were wonderful to deal with and spoke pretty good English. The only negative was that the front room could be noisy at times when revelers passed by the hotel. The lift is an add on and is rather small so we walked up the stairs quite often (the lobby in on the 3rd floor). Note on room size, the actual room was great but the bathroom was very small though adequate.

We stayed for two nights and enjoyed our stay very much. Having rooms that overlooked the Piazza was well worth it. It was hard to find initially by car, but it is very well located for seeing the historic parts of Florence. Breakfast was okay, although my boys found it hard as once again there was no cold milk - this is a problem we have had everywhere so far. Overall, it was a very good place to stay and enjoy the ambiance of Florence.

Really a great location and perfect for a night or two where the main intention is to sleep and have a little breakfast in the morning. We stayed in one of their simpler rooms for 80 Euros on a Wednesday night and it was was perfectly adequate (and we're picky). We may stay in one of their 105 Euro rooms next time but again, smaller room was perfectly adequate for a night or two. Price always depends on time of year and time of week just like in New york where we're from. Really great neighborhood and truly walkable to the Duomo (4 short blocks). Hotel says they are 300 meters from the train station but they are really about 1000 meters, but still, a relatively short walk of 10 minutes. We will defintetly go back when staying in Florence again. The staff was great.

Although the hotel is not as close as one would think to the station, it is in a relatively quiet area which overlooks Piazza della Indipendenza. From here it is easy to access all the tourist areas of the city on foot. We stayed 3 days and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful and the room we were in was very spacious. My daughter is in a wheelchair and although the hotel is not really equipped for disablity (they forewarned me of this) we found that the staff made an effort to accomodate her needs as best as possible. The breakfast was quality rather than quantity - simple but very good. We enjoyed our stay.

The panoramic view was the best part of the stay. We overlooked a park and got a flavor of local life. There is some street noise for such a busy town and we had windows wide open for air movement. Washing facility was tight fitting but expected for such an old building. Each and every staff member was very kind even though I could not speak their language. Buffet breakfast with fresh made capucino to order cannot be beaten anywhere!

We were hot and tired and the hotel was much further from the train station than advertised. A long trek for seniors. It was also hard to find from the directions. (Others had said the same about it). The hotel itself was charming and the personnel very pleasant and accommodating. The bathroom needs some hooks and shelves for toiletries. Hotel is further from station SMN than advertised and is on 3rd floor of a 4+ story building. If the lift doors are not propoerly closed, one must walk up or down. One must look for the address on the large Piazza d'independenza. Small, nearly primitive room, unable to use bathroom and close door, water-logged cigarette and empty shampoo bottle from previous guest were still in room and clearly visible on top of mirror and shower. Compressors for air conditioning are on balcony in front of room. A/c in room did not work. In a phone call, staff could not explain their location. How do hotels in Florence justify such high prices. All out of line.

This was a friendly, homely kind of hotel - nice quiet area, yet still handy for main sights of Florence - also lovely view from room. Price was excellent value. This would be a little gem of a hotel, were it not for the internal noise. Lack of soundproofing meant that even low level noise from other rooms was very audible, and noise from doors closing, stairway and entry buzzer system was also very disturbing. If this could be rectified we would love to stay at this hotel again, however the disturbed sleep would definitely give us pause for thought.

If you are driving, you MUST get good directions before going to Florence. Don't try to find it on your own unless you have been there before and know how to get around with all the one way streets. Also, weekend free parking in the city is nice. The Andrea is situated on a nice Plaza but there is lot of activity at all hours of the day and night. We didn't have any trouble with noise for the most part, but the late activity concerned us from a safety standpoint. The room was spacious and the bathroom clean. I have no complaint about the rooms or services. The price was about what can be expected from hotels in Florence.

The hotel was advertised as recently renovated. We obviously got the only quad room yet to be renovated. The bathroom flooded and the toilet seat was falling off. When I reported it next morning to who I believe was the owner/manager, he implied we must have damaged the toilet. He backed off when I said I had reported it to the staff the previous night just after we had arrived. We were moved to another room after a night in a cramped double box, which was much better and actually had a view. The other staff were very helpfull, especially the breakfast lady- she was lovely. We used the in-room internet network, which was expensive and slooooow. Much better to pay half the price and use one of the many cafes around the area. I'd probably stay there again (devil you know)but would make sure the room was renovated. The location is good. Advertised as 200m from the station. Yeah right!! At least 600m more like it.
