This is a very well-placed hotel, close to the railway station and with easy access to the centre of Florence. The immediate surroundings were a bit drab but it was surprisingly quiet inside. The breakfast was excellent and served in a very pleasant room.

Great hotel with access to Malpensa Airport. Attentive staff, clean rooms and the shuttle to the airport was timely. The only knock is the hotel is not close to anything in this small town. Fortunately the hotel had a nice restaurant.

The location was a short walk from the train station which comes in handy when you are hauling luggage back and forth. We had a jacuzzi in our room and it was HEAVEN. The room was great, it had a mini fridge with drinks in it and snacks with reasonable prices. The shower was AWESOME, best shower we had in all of Italy. The beds were comfortable and all in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone. The breakfast was really nice, offered many selections, normal Italian fare as far as yogurt, cereal, baked goods, ham, cheese, etc.

Excellent value for the money. Room rather small but very adequate for the $. Extremely clean. Central location was excellent though I suspect it could be a bit noisy in the busy season. Breakfast was included and made for an excellent start to the day. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Perfect Hotel for sightseeing trip to Florence. Everything interesting on walking distance. Just 5 minutes away from the center (Dome, etc). Small but very comfortable and tidy rooms. Nice breakfast, nice restaurants nearby. The only problem is parking. Our proposal: Drop your baggage, park your car outside and walk.

We were very impressed with our room. It had the ambience of Tuscany, it was spacious and welcoming. The seperate areas for the bathroom and the large spa added greatly to our enjoyment of our visit to Florence. I would highly recommend this property to any visitor both for its presentation and convenient location. The directions of how to get to the property from the train station were difficult to follow however and we had to resort to asking for directions from a shopkeeper.

Our only negative comment would be the surrounding area. While it felt safe, and offered some restaurants and other services, it was not a lovely place for strolling at night. The hotel itself was clean, well appointed and provided us with excellent service. When we checked in, the desk gave us a few perfect suggestions for restaurants. The rooms were the most spacious and luxurious of any hotel we stayed in in this price catagory.

Hotel was very good but due to its proximity to the Santa Maria Novella train station meant some minor street noise, even with the double glazed windows. The air conditioning was a god send as the weather was very hot and humid when we stayed. Major public works at the piazza Santa Maria Novella also made for a dusty area with public access restricted. Once the works are completed it should again be a very nice hotel to stay at. Breakfast room nice, light and airy, with staff on hand to make very good cappucinos as well.

This a very convenient location for visitors to florence and travelling to nearby towns. Bus station and train station are close by. Restuarants nearby are good/reasonable plenty of choices.Free wireless internet is a big plus so bring your laptop or wireless pdas. Good breakfast but not excellent. It is a classical Italian hotel with a modern touch.

Hotel Alba more than met my expectations from a web reservation. I needed to extend my stay and Hotel Alba was fully booked. They helped me get another room elsewhere but at the last minute a room opened and they looked for me to give me a room at the same rate. Wonderful staff and definitely will recommend this to the most finicky traveller. I would highly recommend a newly opened hotel in Sansepolcro region - the Palazzo Magi. The hotel staff made us feel like guests in a palace, and not a hotel.

Hotel Alba was exactly as advertised - the room was very clean, the staff friendly and the free Internet was a nice extra! We selected the hotel because it was close to the train station, so it worked well for us, but I was a little nervous walking back to the hotel at night. It did make it very convenient however for catching the train! The walk to the Duomo was pleasant and an easy walk from Piazza Signora along the Arno river. I would stay at the Alba again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Alba. We had a four person room, which we really loved; it was spacious and clean, and very comfortable. The staff was very friendly, and helpful, and the location, near to the train station, and the city center, was very convenient. We would certainly stay there again.

if your looking for a quiet hotel but near the train station, this is perfect. the room where we stayed in on the ground floor is large, with a loft, 2 double beds with 2 flat screen TVs, its newly renovated and pictures shown on the web are very accurate. Although the price is quite expensive as it is already in June and there was an exhibition, it would actually be worth it as it can sleep 4 people. Staff are very pleasant. Breakfast is complete with cold and hot dishes. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms. Noise was a major issue - certailnly not "completely soundproofed" as stated on Venere.com site. Suggest you ask for a room at the rear of the property and not on the main street. Our room was on the top floor facing the main street. With the window open for fresh air the street noise from 2200-0200 was excessive. Noise from neighbouring rooms also travelled into the room. Even with all windows closed, sound was still very evident - not what we expected and significantly detracted from what was otherise a pleasant place to stay. Breakfast caters to Australian tastes well enough, and staff were accommodating to allow us an advance checkout and early breakfast on our last day to allow for travel connections (pre 0700). Some other rooms at the rear of the hotel looked much more spacious, luxurious and potentially quieter, so we may have just got a poor room. Other: fairly "grubby" and imtimidating immediate surrounds, but seemed safe enough and certainly no problems encountered (maybe that's the Firenze way!). A cafe/restaurant ~100m to the left provides good, clean, tasty Italian fare at reasonable prices. Double Decker bus trip was good value to take in the sights - take both trips if you have time (one bus ticket for 24 hours allows as much travel as you want). Would recommend a Sienna day-trip returning via San Gimignano.

The Hotel Alba was a great hotel in Florence. The hotel was in a very convenient location: close to the train and bus stations, and close to the Duomo. The rooms were wonderful, clean, and the customer service was great. It was like an oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy sections of Florence.

I only stayed at the Alba one night. The room was small but perfectly adequate, with modern decor and amenities. The brunch room was fantastic, beneath a glass atrium. We found this hotel excellent value at Christmas time. It was very easy to get to from the station and the staff were always very pleasant and helpful to us. It was quiet at night even though during the day it was only a 5 minute walk to the main shops. For the 3 of us the room and bathroom were spacious. We even had a view across the rooftops of the Duomo. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. It was an added bonus that it was only 4 doors along from our favourite Firenze destination Farmacia Santa Maria Novella. We were able to leave our luggage after we checked out which was a great help.

Hotel was very accessible from SMN and easy to find. Hotel staff very welcoming and helpful pre booking an evening meal at a local favourite restaurant for us. Although we were near the lift we never heard it in the room but some sound did carry from footsteps on the tiled stairs outside which was close to the room. The room was spotlessly clean and the towels were changed regularly. Neat touch in the room was the plug-in mosquito repellant unit with regular refills provided. The bed was huge and very comfortable. the location was very good. Santa Croce was about a 30 minute stroll, just enough time to walk off that huge pizza for dinner. Would definitely return again.

Although it seems expensive, take into account that it is Firenze and accomodation is not cheap! That said, this place was perfect - minutes from SMN and the main attractions. Staff were extremely helpful spoke excellent English and the place was very clean and tidy. Typical continental style breafast but more than ample to give a good start to the day. Would not hesitate to book this place again if I return to Firenze.

We spent three nights at the hotel. Our was a quadruple room as we were travelling with two youngish grandchildren. Imagine their delight when we entered our room and saw that it was actually part of an old church cloister, refurbished but with lots of charm and a bit quirky. The boys had a whole second bedroom for themselves in the gallery of the room and had a whale of a time. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were served in a lovely patio. When we located the hotel we were a bit put off by the area around the hotel and wondered where on earth we would be able to park the car but there was valet parking available and so we were car-carefree during our stay. In the end we found the hotel to be within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to get to. I would highly recommend this hotel for people like us who need more than two beds in the room.

After a previous stay in Florence I was astonished at the size and quality of this hotel room. I even checked that the quoted price was correct because I didn't believe we had such a nice hotel for the price we got from Venere. Because there were three of us we got the room in the pictures with the spiral staircase. What you don't see in the pictures is that it also had a double shower in the bathroom and a seperate room with a jacuzzi. The refurbishment of this hotel is excellent and being a short walk from the train station it was an ideal location to walk with our suitcases. The walk into the centre for the Duomo, Uffizi is comfortable and the street is safe and quiet. The breakfast buffet was good and in a covered courtyard within the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definately stay here again.

Hotel Alba was just a wonderful experience during our visit to Florence. However, the night manager's lack of any English proved to be somewhat humorous for us but seemed frustrating for him. I tried to tell him I had arranged for a shuttle to the airport at 4:30 AM. He did not understand and called a taxi for me. There was quite a shouting match at the front door when I left. The called taxi and the night manager were shouting at each other as I slipped by them to get my prearranged shuttle.

Our stay at the Hotel Alba was excellent. We arrived early and they had a room ready, not just a room, but a suite. We did not pay an extra and we had the biggest room in Europe! The room had a balcony and a great tub. The place is so close to the train that we took a trip to Pisa. It is close to everything else (with in walking distance). It is in a very convenient place of a few minutes from the station. It equipped with the Internet in the lobby and it found it useful at command. The interior of the room was be able a relieved very wonderful space. Moisture shut oneself up and it was annoyed by the attack of the mosquito at night though the jacuzzi where the fresco painting was drawn was very wonderful. The drain of the air conditioner is regrettable and it is very regrettable in the room that the flowing luggage is wet. Because the stamp of air mail did not put it, it was also regrettable not to be able to keep mail. The room wanted to stay again if these were able to be improved by very widespread.

A very quiet and cosy hotel, friendly and helpful staff, really not expensive for the space we had occupied (we've got a quadruple apartment with private entrance to internal balcony - nice to drink any delicious tuscany's wine outside!). My daughter liked it very much, and my friends in the neighbouring room, too! 10-15 minutes walk to the Center, and 5 to the railway station, some good typical restaurants & pizzerias in the nearest surrounding. The only shortcoming to be improved - a wardrobe of a very small size for family with 1-2 children. Should I visit Florence next time, hotel ALBA undoubtedly will be No.1 for pleasant staying! NB. For the funs of Dr.Hannibal Lecter - in 30 meters from the hotel there is a famous perfume shop where he was shooted by camera. This shop is a great museum itself!

Excellent hotel, completely refurbished, almost a 4 star hotel. Excellent breakfast as well. Very handy location near main train station. The bathroom was on the small side, but exceptionally clean. The entire accomodations were very brightly lit and looked as though recently updated. We found our room very quiet--it was situated towards the back of the hotel overlooking the courtyard and the dining area below. We did speak to some travellers who had a room towards the street and they did find it to be noisy. The common areas were very spacious, including the internet room. Very pleasant staff, helpful, and friendly. Very nice breakfast. The hotel was close to the train station, which was great, the neighborhood was a little down, but we felt very safe.

Thank you to Hotel Alba which we enjoyed very much our stay with you. The staff are very helpful and friendly though we kept on asking numerous questions. Lots of good tips and information from staff. Breakfast is okay. Very close to the train station. Air conditioner works very well. Very clean and tidy. We will come back.

In general, I found this hotel to be grossly overpriced as compared with other hotels in cities I visited during my trip to Italy. Clean but kind of cold and boring (YELLOW ROOM) with no personality. Staff overall was fine but the facilities offered were minimal (bathroom very small and no space around beds), the price was really too high for the money. Convenient location to the railroad station though.

This was my third hotel in my visit to Italy. I was very pleased with the staff, extremely helpful and knowledgable. The rooms were large enough and clean. The breakfast room was very nice and the breakfast buffet was excellent, with a great selection of pastries, luncheon meats, juices and coffee. Will reccomend this hotel to everyone.

A nice small hotel, walking distance from the train station even with bags. Easy walk to the major sites. Room was a good sized triple with a good shower (altho pretty small as most are in Europe).

We had a very good 3 day stay in Firenze this month. The hotel was clean and looked like it just had completed some recent upgrades. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We needed help to book a last minute tour and to change a previous reservation. The front desk day staff worked this out very quickly and things couldn't have been better. Location is convenient to trains and short walk from most sites. Would stay there again in the future if our travels brought us back to the area.

Good base, and easy to get to from train station. The room was clean and had been newly decorated and included a shower rather than a bath which was ok with me although you should check if they have rooms with baths if showers aren't your thing. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of cerals, fresh fruit, tea (selection inc Earl Grey and English Breakfast) and coffee bread rolls and naturally ham and cheese. The hotel's only about a 5 minute walk to the main centre of Florence and the various sites. This was a good hotel and well worth considering if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Florence.

Overall stay is excellent. With close location to major train station, its easy to locate the hotel. The breakfast is excellent, especially the capaccino offered. The staff is helpful too. Bt the way, there is an excellent Italian restaurant nearby (forgot the name..., in the opposite side of same street, in the direction of train station) which is cheap and delicous.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Hotel Alba. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the room was pleasant and comfortable. Breakfast was leisurely and plentiful. Best of all, this excellent hotel was within walking distance of Florence's magnificant buildings, museums and river. I would stay there again.

We loved our stay at Hotel Alba. The staff on duty when we arrived briefed us on all key sights and recommended excellent local restaurants. The hotel is definitely more nicely kept than most three star hotels, and much more like a four star in feel. And the price was very reasonable. I was very pleased with our stay here. Great coffee at breakfast!

This hotel provided excellent value for money. Recent renovation offered very satisfactory and tasteful accomodation. The inclusive breakfast was more than adequate and all the staff were very friendly and helpful (English spoken). Less than ten minutes walk to the 'Duomo' and 200 yards from the Santa Maria Novella Bus station. Reception booked the 'Accademia'for us with 24 hrs notice. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

This was our second stay at Hotel Alba. Even though it was a bit more expensive than we originally wanted to spend, we decided the extra cost was well worth the security of returning to a place like Alba. The location of the hotel is VERY convenient to the train station, Santa Maria Novella, and it was within comfortable walking distance of all the sites. The area is safe and well-lit at any time of day. They are currently renovating the hotel, so there were some construction noises that might be bothersome, but the improvements they've made were well worth it. We stayed on the second (third if you're American) floor in a "new" room that faced the street. The room was spotless, well set up, comfortable (though smaller than our room last year) and we had no problem with street noise. The elevator is small, as are all the elevators we ever entered in Italy, but was one of the least scary I've been in in Italy. :-) The breakfast provided by the hotel was excellent. They had cereals, juices, pastries, meats and cheeses, coffee (including cappuccino!), bottled waters. We were reluctant at first to eat the hotel breakfasts because we wanted to take advantage of the amazing food Italy has to offer, but we decided the free food (with basically the same types of items we would have chosen outside of the hotel) was worth trying. We weren't disappointed. The staff is courteous and friendly (they also speak English if your Italian isn't up to par) and the desk is open 24-hours a day. We will definitely return to Alba when we go back to Florence.

The property was lovely, the staff was very helpful in getiing us a taxi for 4 people and luggage at 5:30 AM for the airport, and the breakfast room was delightful. The neighborhood was a bit noisy, but the windows when closed were quite soundproof. We would stay there again with no question.

We were very satisfied with this hotel. We were able to walk there from the train station in less than 10 minutes. We walked all over the city and found the location reasonable- did not bother with bus lines. Staff were very helpful with directions and restaurant recommendations; they booked reservation forus for the Accademie to see "David" That saved us time and some money- since others told us their hotels had charged for that service. We picked up a car as we left city and were able to walk to Hertz from the hotel. I think it was a good value for Florence.

Hotel Alba definitely deserves to be a four-star hotel. We traveled through Italy for two weeks and stayed in several cities and hotels (3- or 4-star) and none compared with Hotel Alba. From the street you wouldn't think too much of it, but the inside is great! We absolutely loved everything about our stay at Hotel Alba. The staff was absolutely perfect: excellent and professional rapport with the client, very helpful and eager to help at any moment, good command of English, just perfect. The room we stayed in was really beautiful and very big! The bathroom was spotless clean, newly and very beautifully remodeled (I would love to have a bathroom like that at home!). The breakfast was great for a continental breakfast in Italy – a lot of choices. There is no parking space around the hotel (not for 24-hr), but the front desk staff advised us to use a garage that they have an agreement with (21 euros/day; yes, very expensive, but if you would go on your own around town you would not find a better rate than this, plus they had someone come to pick-up and deliver the car in 10-min notice). We loved Hotel Alba and we would stay there again without the smallest hesitation!
