The Apartment was a block from the reception area. It was right on the corner of a busy street and noisy enough that we wanted to close the windows but that would make it too hot. There were three beds crammed into the bed room (2 twins and double) and a smaller double in the common (kitchen) area. The locks were a bit tricky. Overall it was good value and good location near the train station. They also let us store our bags at the office as we had a later train the next day.

Air conditioner did not work and was invaded by mosquitoes due to the fact. Otherwise it was OK for the money. Location is great if your backpacking and want to unload your gear quick. Public transportation was close by. Over all decent experience, nice bath rooms and greetings. Should have asked about the air conditioner but didn't. Reasonable pricing.

The hotel is not easy to find. The door intercom is in very poor quality. There was a misunderstanding between me and the staff when my family was arrived. The staff was yelling to me for pushing the bottom non-stop. First of all, I could not hear him from the intercom, secondly I could not hear the door was actually opened. I was very worried if my family will be able to actually find anyone and stay in the hotel as we reserved. I wish the staff could come down to the gate when clearly I did not hear him well through the intercom. After the initial yelling, he calmed down and became more professional. He actually was helpful afterward. Overall the hotel is what they advertised. The room is big enough for a family with five people. The room is in a very qiete location. But you can hear your neighbor's talking clearly.

Hotel was older, in need of refubishment, but decent value for price, especially for Florence. Easy walking from train station, but outside of main tourist areas. Was fine for sleeping for one night (or 2), but not somewhere that I'd want to spend much time in the room.

Very convinient hotel for price. Location not the best but very clean. The quadruple room was ok for us . 2 doublebeds were ok and the ac worked very good in a temp close to 96 degrees. It's a little bit far from the main sites. You need to walk across the train sta. but it's not too bad.Breakfast was ok. It's in a 2nd floor, elevator, and stairs.

We liked that it was an appartment for 4 people. However, it was too far from the train station. The shower was simply a curtain in the middle of the bathroom which stuck to you as you showered. Not nice!

Excellent value for money. Hotel Alamanni is a bit away from the central attractions, but within reasonable walking distance, and quite close to the train station. It's not the easiest place to reach, though. If you use google maps, that will show you an address about a block closer to the station than the hotel really is. The numbering of the houses is a bit wonky I suppose, which is not the hotel's fault. Anyway, you just need to continue on Via Alamanni a bit longer, and you'll get to the hotel. The reception is on the second floor of what looks like a normal residential building, from the outside. Just keep looking up as you walk, and you'll see the hotel banner (if you keep your eyes on ground level, it's too easy to miss it). We had booked the Jolly Good Offer apartments, and these were about a 50 - 100m further on. They really were apartments, studios, with kitchen well equipped for breakfast and plenty of space. They were pretty good, clean and comfortable. All in all, I'd recommend it. Hotel prices in Florence are insane, and this is a good budget alternative.

We were on the Jolly special which meant we didn't stay in the hotel itself, we were in appartments about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. The appartments were very nice, not to difficult to find. Very new bathrooms, clean and tidy. Our room was facing onto the main raod so it was a little noisy and being on the ground floor, we were unable to have the shutters open. The room was air-conditioned and in a good location for the train station and to explore the rest of Florence on foot.

There were 4 of us staying in a 5 pax apartment in late March 09. We were required to check in to the hotel (which seemed quite pleasant) before proceeding to the apartment about 50 metres down the road. The location wasn't that great, but convenient to the train station which was our main concern. The cleaniness was lacking. My bed cover had suspicious looking stains on it, and we had to wash the cups (which were stained too) before we could use them. Also, there was no kettle but we could boil water in a sauce pan, and the TV worked one day but not the next. Lastly, more information should be given on check in. We were freezing the first night because we had no idea how to use the heating and we didn't know that breakfast was included until we checked out and were asked if we were staying for breakfast. One the plus side, the staff were pleasant and helpful. Special mention has to go to the night reception guy who was kind enough to give us a cup of milk and so we could have coffee in the morning! As a budget consious traveller in a group, I might choose this place again, but only if I could get over the stained bed cover.

They offer a room that wasn´t inside the hotel, and they didn´t told us at the moment we arrived they moved us at 9 o´clock in the night, when i arrived they have already charged the amount in my credit card and they didn´t asked me for the credit card they didn´t saw the credit card just they asked me for my signature isn´t that ilegal they must at least see my signature so they can know if it was my credit card, i was afraid of them because they can charge any amount, we made reservations in many other hotels and this was the only one who makes this. What´s up? an Be carefull this is delicated.

We had a studio near the Hotel. It is the "Jolly Offer". The room was not cleaned but the sheets of the bed and the towels (it needed a good hoovering and there was some dust plus the TV & washing machine didn't work). It was very noisy. It was like you shared your evening with your neighbours. The man at the reception was not welcolming as giving the impression to disturb him. It was not very convenient to park the car in their park lot as we had to go back each time at the reception to get to our car to go out and come back to the hotel (the guy kept the key of the park lot) BUT the hotel is close to the city centre, it is just 10 minutes walking from the Duomo.

We stayed in a Flat for 3 people. It's a good size studio that has one double bed and two twins. It has small kitchen and dinner table. It was an excellent accommodation for the family with one kid since we were able to have breakfast and sometimes supper at "home" and it was enough space for all of us to relax after hours of sightseeing :=) The location of the hotel is very good - it's just 5 min walk from the train terminal - very convenient if you make trips to Sienna, Piza, etc., and it's also very close to downtown. Flat is located in a different building than a hotel. Thus we only saw the hotel itself twice: when check-in and check-out. Flat was cleaned every day, linens changed every two days. Overall we had a great stay for a very good price :=)

The shower in the room was interesting. It plugged and we had to use our towels to soak up water spilling into the living area. I informed the man working there that we needed new towels and his shower was faulty and he tried to charge me for new towels getting into a heated argument. I would not stay here again due to the rude service from him.

We had one of the "Small Flats" in a separate building. We could not have been happier with it. It had ample beds and was like living in Florence(1 double in the living area, 1 double & 1 single in the bedroom + kitchen & bathroom). It was fantastic. I would recommend it to my friends. (Nice & close to the station without being right on it).

The apartment was 2 blocks away from the hotel. There was no phone line available, which made it imposible to communicate with the front desk other than walking back. The handle on the bathroom door was broken, which resulted in one of us being locked in the bathroom, we contacted the front desk from a public telephone and they told us they couldn't come until the morning. After an hour, we were able to open the door with a pair of scissors. The hotel management made no attempt to apologize or make up for this incident. There were broken light fixtures in 2 of the rooms in the apartment, and the street noise made it very hard to sleep at night. The breakfast was very low quality. The hotel personnel was not friendly. This hotel was the low point in our trip, we had much better places in Milan and Venice, making the reservations from the same website.

Make sure you stay at the actual HOTEL, not the apartments they have- those are about 1 block away and if you have all your luggage with you, it can get frustrating lugging it all around. Breakfast was good, but I would not recommend the place. Again, apt. was SMALL and the only thing decent was the bathroom.

In general, satisfactory. Conveniently situated close to the train station and the historic center of Firenze, it offers nice rooms, helpful welcome and a nice breakfast. The ensign is visible only in the wrong driving direction of a one way street ! One problem : parking has to be paid in cash (I must admit I have not fully understood why) and everything has to be paid in advance.

This was our 3rd visit to Florence and this was the worst accomodation we have had. If you select a flat be prepared for a lot of noise all night long from other residents. The kitchen flat was very basic so we didn't use at all. The bathroom was very poor with a makeshift shower set up. This should be a one star if that !!! We thought the price exorbitant compered with the facilities offered from the other 5 hotels we stayed in during our trip round Northern Italy. I suggest that they are taken off the Venere list.

This is an appartment hotel. The appartments are spread out in the area .You need to walk with your luggage to the appartment ( about 500 meters ) after checking in .Only 6 parking places ( for 20 Euro ) Worst problem is that the rooms are smoking rooms even if you order a non smoking room .I was answered " I can not help you " by the manager .There is a heavy and unpleasant smeal of smoke in the room.No view as well. The appartments are located near the train station a very busy location .

This was the most dissappointing place we stayed on our 5 week trip through Italy. The desk clerk, Luigi, was a most rude and disinterested insulting person. He refused to let us look at the room, told us we had pre-paid online therefore "had to take whatever they gave us" and was demeaning in every way possible - which he attempted. The room was in a remote location, smelled of sewage, and was grimey. I would NEVER recommend this place or these people to anyone.

My friend and I arrived at the Alamanni after driving from Rome, and were a bit frazzled. Upon arrival, we discovered that the front desk had decided to ignore our booking for a room with two beds in it and decided to give us a double bed. When we tried to explain that we really did want the room that we had, in fact, reserved, the attendant demanded our reservation printout that I didn't have because we made the reservation last-minute from an internet café with no printer. The attendant, who could not understand why a male/female couple traveling together would want separate beds, ever so graciously offered us an apartment suite, for an extra fee, of course. The room we did get was extremely nice and spacious, though we were locked out of the apartment's second bathroom. My traveling companion needed minor medical attention on the morning of our departure, and when we asked where an emergency room was, the attendant gave us a completely wrong name of a hospital and offered no further assistance - since our Italian vocabulary is limited, a call to the hospital would have been really, really helpful, especially since we discovered that there was no actual doctor at the hospital once we had schlepped our suitcases through downtown Florence in rush hour. I'd probably advise against staying here. Front desk staff is way too snooty for a hotel of this quality.

This apartment was very spacious and beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. We really appreciated the efficient air conditioning considering the hot weather. We realized the windows face one of the busiest streets in Florence, including the ambulance route through a tunnel and horse drawn carriages. The windows were well insulated, so the noise didn't bother us - but might bother someone else. I was disappointed at the front desk service. Each of my requests was met with complaints about being ripped off by previous travellers. When the shower drain backed up and overflowed in the bathroom, the nasty odor lingered in the bathroom. I reported the problem on Friday and was told it wouldn't be addressed until Monday - good thing we checked out on Saturday.

Hotel Alamani is a small hotel in the second floor of an apartment buidling. I stayed at an appartment rented by the hotel in a nearby buidling, just half a block from the main hotel reception. It was very difficult to find the hotel when I arrived (by car) as there are many other hotels in the area with big signs, but this one had a flag hangiing from the window that was almost invisible at night. I was driving in circles and I had to call the hotel so they explained me how to find it. The Hotel has some limited parking for an extra fee (20 Euros/night), but apparently is important to notify in adavance to guarantee a spot, something not explained in the Vener web site or the confirmation. I was lucky and still got a spot, which was important since there is little parking nearby. The appartment was located in a different buidling (but breakfast was held at the main reception) and unfortunately the rooms faced a very busy street, and thus there was a lot of noise diring night (so bring your earplugs). Otherwise the appartment was very spacious with two rooms (one double bed and the other tripe with two beds), a living room and a small kitchen. The bathroom was big and nice, but not well furnished with toileteries(e.g. no shampoo, etc.). Nevertheless, this hotel was a very convienient stay for a family of five like mine, and given Florence is an expensive city, the value was very good. The hotel is also just next to the train station, which is concvenient, but at the same time traffic is busy.Major attractions at Florence are still within walking distance - some 15 minutes walking to the Uffici Museum and Duomo.

Really convenient location near the station, so very east to get to with cases! About ten minutes walk to the Duomo, so easy to get around everywhere. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked some apartments and trees at the back, so was nice and quiet, but I can imagine it would be noisier in the front rooms, overlooking the road and back of the station - maybe best to ask for a back room! Definitely good value for money.

The hotel is located vedry near the train station. We were given the option to either stay in the hotel or an apartment a little way away. We chose the apartment. The apartment was in a good building, quiet and on the main road. A lot of places to eat nearby. The only draw back was that the sheets and blankets were a little worn out and musty. The person at the reception was very nice and helpfull, and the breakfast very good.

Our stay at the Alammani Hotel was phenomenal. Our party of 4 had the good fortune of staying in one of their flats, which was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate all of us. We enjoyed having the flat's simple comforts away from home like a kitchen and household appliances. The location was also great because we were in a safe area that was within walking distance of the center of town. The staff was immensely kind, very helpful and knowledgeable. They were always available to answer our questions. Their daily breakfast was very satisfying. I would definitely come back to the Alammani Hotel again and recommend it to everyone who is visiting Florence.

After the prenotation, I called them asking for a quite room and I got it. But I have seen other rooms with windows on the street that should be noisy. It's bit tricky to find the hotel because Alamanni street has two 35 numbers! The Hotel is near the cross with viale fratelli rossetti. The Hotel is reachable by car (because is out of ZTL, traffic limited roads common in the Firenze center). It's possible to reserve the parking for the car (20€ per night) but they cannot claim it on the receipt (It could be a problem for business purpouse).

Great rooms, clean and very spacious. Wonderderful staff and a good breakfast. It is close to the train station so it makes arriving by train easy. Only problem is the street noise - Near a hospital (I think from all the ambulence sirens), a night club, and the street traffic noise is fairly significant. We stayed on the first floor.

We stayed in a spacious flat good for three. It is like a service apartment and spacious. The price is quite reasonable. That said, I will not stay in this hotel again. For one thing, the receptionist (a guy) is very rude and unprofesionnal. You cannot talk to him more than 5 minutes without him loosing his patience. Other than that, all the other shortcomings of the hotel like noise and the over-flowing bathroom (literally) is more tolerable than the frontdesk clerk!

We stayed in one of the apartments and it was better than expected. Very spacious and clean. The bathroom was very nice and the kitchen was stocked well so that we were able to cook dinner after being out all day. Located very close to the train & bus stations for travel each day outside of Florence into the Tuscany area. The only negative was the street noise and that you couldn't get much natural light in, because the wooden blinds would not open because it is on the ground floor. The staff was very nice and informative.

We were given an apartment around the corner from the hotel. This was fine, as far as the location was concerned, but it was a main floor apartment. It was very very noisy. In the two nights that we stayed there, we got very little sleep at all. The hotel proper, being a couple of floors up, would have been quite nice. We would not return if we knew we would be in the same unit.

It was ok, for the price really good. But the room was quiet noisy, every day had another tentant of the house a party till three oclock. It was not really the mistake of the hotel, but they have to make clear to the other tentants that there must me calmness after eleven or twelwe. But alltogether, they stay was ok.

The only problem is that the rooms are too noisy. You can ear the street noises even if the windows are not directly on the street. For the other things everything is ok. 10 minutes from the very center of Florence, breakfast is ok and employees are sympathic

Hotel was great, staff & public areas were great and they put us in an apartment with 2 bedrooms that was enormous and looked fantastic. Unfortunately there was a really bad smell through the apartment. It smelt like an animal had died. We made sure we spent as little time as possible there even though it looked great and had wonderful facilities.

The internal decor of this hotel is better than what we expected, as the entrance is a bit tricky as it is from side alley of the building (looked a bit dodgy). The host was welcoming but after that we found him can be a bit rude. The night staff was helpful and friendly, helped us to get hot water for our baby milk etc. Breakfast was OKAY. We had 1 Quadraple room that basically 2 double beds next to each other squeezed into a room. We stayed only one night, so that was OK. But if you need to stay longer, maybe best to find other hotel. Value for money. Close to Train. But as you know Florence, there are actually better spots to stay.

The hotel is located only a few blocks away from the city's historic center. I was traveling by car and the hotel provided a garage (at an extra cost of 20 euros/day). Hotel surroundings look safe even being on the vicinity of the train station. Restaurants were easy to find around the hotel. Communication with hotel staff was easy as they speak English and Spanish as well. I was on a vacation family travel with older children (5 people) and stayed for two nights. I took an apartment for we all, what I regret of doing as having only one bathroom was a real inconvenience. The apartment was located about one hundred meters away from the hotel main building, so we had to walk in the morning in order to have breakfast (what was not pleasant either). The apartment was spacious (although not for 5 people) and clean. Credit cards were well accepted. This was the sole hotel during the trip that claimed to retain my passport during my stay. Next time will look further for other accommodations.

Our room backed up against the stairwell that caused some noise at all hours of the night. Other than that the Alamanni was very nice. The hotel is within a 10 minute walk of one rail station.

Gracias.

We stayed in one of the little flats located about a block from the hotel proper. The location was very quiet compared to other places I've stayed in Florence, and the gated access was very secure. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. We loved our little apartment in Florence and we'd definitely stay there again.

We were aware that we would be staying in a flat wtih this place, so we were ready for the walk from the main hotel and the separate rooms (dependance). The flats were very spacious and had a kitchen. Very very clean. Breakfast was good, though we had to walk back to the hotel for that. As long as you don't mind having to walk everytime you want to communicate with reception, it's excellent value for the price.

The appartment for 4 people was very clean and has much room. It was a nice appartment and the price was very good (100 Euro per night incl. breakfast). There is one disadvantage. The appartment lies in a house a few steps away from the hotel. This is not a problem. But, the appartment lies directly at a main rod through Florenz, so it is also in the night not quite. You have to sleep with closed windows. It has a powerfull aircondition, so even on hot days it is cool enough. We used the appartment for one night and it was the best room and price during our italy trip. The location is good. It is only 5 minutes to the center.

The Alamanni was exactly what we expected. Not glmorous, but perfect for what we needed. A quiet, clean hotel, with comfortable beds and good air conditioning. Also lots of closet space and within a 10 minute walk of the Duomo. We enjoyed our stay and certainly appreciated the 24 hour reception!

Courteous, very helpful, English-speaking staff. Nice, modern room with squeaky-clean bathroom, hairdryer fab and overflowing-with-goodies mini-fridge. Very quiet, no noise from other rooms/fiesty maids. Great night's sleep in firm, fresh bed... Tasty carb-fest breakfast and convenient luggage room. Bar always open (we got complimentary snacks!) and very clean, calming, relaxed, non-smoking surroundings (but you can smoke on the bar balcony). Five minutes stroll from SMN train station. Pleasure to stay there - I highly recommend the Alamanni... Very clean hotel, cool-yet-friendly staff--bellisimo!

The actual property advertised was not the one offered to us, instead they put us up in another property further away from Florence Central. On top of all this we had to pay up front prior to being told that we were not staying at the advertised property and kept our passports for our entire stay!!

Pros: * Central location in central Florence - 10 minutes walk from the railway station, 15 from the duomo * Good price (we paid less than 100 euro for a double room!) * Big room (flat!) with our own kitchen and nice bathroom * Aircondition * Nice staff * Good breakfast Cons: * Had to pay upfront on arrival, leaving me uneasy * Had to leave passport in reception during whole stay * Expensive internet and only one laptop to access it in the lobby * The aircondition was quite noisy and unefficient * Reception not in same block as the flat

EXCELLENT! Altamente consigliato!

Our trip to Florence was made mmorable simply by the staff of the Alamanni. Our room was excellent, though we could have used some silverware since there was a kitchen, but then we did not ask. Breakfast service was excellent and very enjoyable. The hotel was convenient to train and bus terminal. The Alamanni will be our first choice when we return to Florence. The staff was super and thanks for making our trip to Florence complete.

We booked this hotel as a last resort because our other hotel tried to charge us 30 Euro more each day. The staff was not very helpful at all. Our room was actually two blocks away from the front desk and breakfast room area. Every morning we had to walk to get our breakfast or talk to the desk clerk. Also, the room does not have a phone, so you cannot call the front desk - if you want to talk to them, you have to walk. The bathroom was okay, but had the type of shower with just a little drain in the floor - so when you took a shower, the whole bathroom floor would get all wet. The worst thing about this hotel was that the maid only cleans the room once every week. We were not told this our first night, so we used all the towels. When we asked for fresh, clean towels we were told that the maid would not clean the room until after we left. We said that was fine, and that we just wanted the towels. They never brought us any, they did have a maid come in the room, however, but all she did was make the bed. The staff is also very unfriendly and treated you like they were doing you a favor by letting you stay in their hotel. The only good thing about this hotel was its location to the train station (about 2 or 3 blocks away).

1) There was no picture or description on the website of the actual room I stayed (a flat, not a regular hotel room - 50 meters from the hotel, in a dark street), so, there was no way to evaluate from the Venere website 2) There was a water heater for the shower and it ran out of hot water after I had a shower and my husband had to take a cold shower 3) We had a sofa-bed in our flat, instead of a regular queen/full bed as we asked for. The bed was not very good (hard and uncomfortable). 4) Breakfast was better than what I expected (cappuccino, fresh bred, ham, cheese, yogurt, etc) 5) Employee at reception when I got to the hotel was very friendly (same person that served breakfast), but the person who helped us the following days was horrible: he was talking over the phone in a private call in his cell phone (he was not speaking neither Italian nor English...) and took almost 10 minutes to look at me and ask me what I wanted. He was the worst employee of a hotel I had during my whole 10 day stay in Italy!

We stayed in an apartment like room. What was surprised us was the distance of the room from the hotel lobby. We walked with our bags from the train station, which is why we chose something close to the station. The extra walk was unanticipated. Other than that, it was a cool place. Clean, nice size bathroom; a small kitchen facility; nice beds; a courtyard...overall very homey. This hotel was also an easy walk to the major attractions, bus stops, and restaurants. It was quiet and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and tastey. We would visit again.

The room is quiet and very clean; nice combination of wooden furniture and modern bathroom. The breakfast rather limited in variety, just enough to start the day -- if you stay longer than few days, you would likely get bored. Location is good - close to train station and bus stop and pizzeria/snack bar nearby. The hotel marking (name plate) is too small, not easy to see. Also for non-European, took me a while to recognize that the small bronze button in the name plate is actually a "door bell" to ask receptionist to open the gate.
