The Adler Cavalieri is the perfect hotel if you are coming and going from the train station---it is a very short walk around the corner. While the neighborhood is not dangerous in any way, it lacks some charm--however, this is compensated for by the fact that you are very close to the Santa Maria di Novella (often overlooked by tourists and very much worth a visit). Two excellent restaurants in the neighborhood are Buca di Mario and Bel Cuore--both terrific after a long day of touring around. The Hotel's facilities are superb--rooms are well-appointed and quiet, staff is friendly, generous and helpful with tours, recommendations and arrangements. The upstairs bar serves free snacks and has a lovely outdoor porch with a pond and waterfall. The breakfast is served in a lovely salon or in the outdoor courtyard. This is a very quiet and peaceful retreat from the noisy, hot, crowded streets of Florence---we would stay here again.

I really debated over where to stay in Florence...considered by the Arno River and closer to train station for convenience for day trips and going and coming. The Hotel is easy to find with directions given and signs on street. Yes, it is near the train station, so the area isn't the nicest, but as other reviewers mentioned, it still does seem safe. But again, once you step inside you don't feel like you are in the train station area anymore. Nice room, good service, very clean. Breakfast was nice, good service, can sit inside or out on the patio. Complimentary hordeurves in the afternoon in the bar area, nice sitting area. Great help from the front desk, and you can ask them to use the laptop for internet services for free. We were recommended the Belcor Restaurant near the hotel...another diamond in the rough. The owner was fabulous! as were the meals...hence we ate their twice during our 4 night stay. We would definitely stay at the hotel again and eat at the Belcor.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Its close proximity to the station is very useful if you are travelling by train. Once through the main door, the hotel is cool i.e. well air-conditioned. The staff are professional and helpful. Speak good English and are willing to organize things for you. Our room was excellent being at the rear with its own private balcony overlooked by mature trees. It was quiet and very private yet in the centre of town. Again, air conditioning was very effective. All facilities and furnishings in the room and bathroom were of a high quality. The breakfast was comprehensive with plenty of healthy options. The staff in the breakfast room were welcoming and brought you coffee. We regretted leaving this hotel and other hotels did not come up to this standard. It is furnished with an old fashioned classical design i.e. wooden panels on the walls; comfortable seating; artistically painted ceilings. It has the feeling of a Gentlemen's Club but this is only an impression based on the decor.

Good location. The surrounding area appear run down because it is close to the train station, however, it turned out to be a great location. Easy walking distance to the cathedral and other sites. Clean and updated room. Nice facility.

positiv: Sehr gute Lage, nahe am Bahnhof, dennoch sehr ruhiges Zimmer. Zum Stadtzentrum (Uffizien) ca. 15 Minuten. Ansprechendes Zimmer mit bemalter Decke, gutes Bett, ausreichend Schränke, sehr freundliches Personal, für italienische Verhältnisse sehr gutes Frühstücksbüffet. negativ: Raumgröße unseres Zimmers (laut Fluchtplan nicht das kleinste) geschätzt max. 15m², plus kleines Bad mit Dusche.

Very large room by European standard. Easy access to the train station, and all central Florence sites. It is on a very busy street we had a room in the back that was very quite, may not be the same if you are in a room facing the street.

This hotel is truly wonderful. It is very close to the train station and within walking distance to many of the attractions in Florence. The desk staff were terrific and attended to our every need in a friendly manner. The hotel decor is very nice and they've managed to retain a historic atmosphere in a throughly modern hotel. The breakfast buffet which was included in the price of our room was one of the best that I've seen to date. It included a great assortment of hot and cold foods and the service in the breakfast room was impeccable. I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers and if I return to Florence will book this hotel again.

Decent hotel for an overpriced city. Room wasnt too bad, and the satellite tv was a bonus. Breakfast was fairly basic. Hotel very hard to get to, as the street is a one way street, which changes direction about five times. If you have a car, would recommend emailing them to let them know, so they can reserve a parking space in their very small garage. We would stay there again.

Excellent boutique hotel located near the train station and a short walk to many of the sites of Florence. It's a little oasis in the middle of Florence. The rooms and common areas are outstanding. This was our second visit to the Adler Cavalieri. It was better than the first time. You will need to be able to walk to get to the shopping and museums, 10+ minutes, but the hotel is worth it.

A warm welcome, a grand hotel with their motifs on all toiletries, napkins and crockery. Reception and waiting staff all spoke good English and all were friendly and helpful. Lovely stay. Just a short walk from the station, but this was the only downside as the area isn't that great.

We had a great stay. The room was clean, nicely decorated, and the bed was comfortable. We requested a king bed, non-smoking room with a shower and that is exactly what we got. This was our third visit to Florence. We love the city because of its art. Last time we were here was 6 years ago to participate in their yearly marathon. It was then quite an experience to run on the cobblestone streets. We went back again to our favorite restaurant Trattoria 4 Leoni. Try their baccala a la fiorentina or the trippa a la fiorentina or their polpo allo aglio. Another good restaurant is Mamma Gina also close by. It is always fun to revisit this beautiful city. We liked the Hotel Adler Cavalieri more than our previous hotel Croce di Malta where we stayed the last time and which is situated in the same Via della Scala. Staff was friendlier at Hotel Adler. This time we just concentrated in walking and watching the local people. Museums were covered in past trips.

We stayed for 4 nights.Children loved the stay. We had access to warm milk for the little one even very late at night from the bar.Beds were very comfortable.Good selection of breakfast. Very close to the train station.Eventhough, the street appeared quite dodgy in the night, it was very safe. Overall, our stay was very pleasant and satisfactory.

A lovely hotel with a very helpful staff. Great breakfast buffet and beautiful rooftop lounge. Very clean and comfortable. We stayed only for one night. Our only complaint is that the room was not ready when we arrived to check in at 1pm, so we had to leave our bags with the porter until we returned from our tours many hours later.

Overall, my stay was comfortable; I had a quiet room with pleasant balcony outside, very close to the train station. The room and bathroom were very clean and in good working order. I did get an odd room, however (room 118), which, unlike the other rooms, had a very small window and was located in a strange place, requiring a trip through the bar area. The room was also very small. I would have preferred a regular room, or an explanation from the staff and a reduction in price for the room given. The Alder Cavelieri is easy to find from the train station and a short walk, while still being quiet. But, I found better value and a more pleasant room in the other hotel I stayed in, the Hotel Centrale.

This hotel is just three minutes walk from the SMN satation, which is the most advantage of this hotel. The room was spacious enough, quiet and clean. The breakfast was not bad at all. The only drawback was that the area where the hotel is located looks kind of shabby. The hotel itself was in good fashion, though.

the hotel is located on a street approximately 1/2 block from where the street becomes one-way NW and one way SE. There is only one street you can use to intersect the hotel, from the NE. This is not shown on the Florence maps available to me. For that reason alone, I gave an average score to "location as indicated on maps". You're on foot in Florence; best to take a taxi from the train station a few blocks away until you get your bearings. We'll return for a longer stay, at least 1 week, to enjoy the museums.

We had a short visit in Florence, only 1 night, but we liked this hotel very much. The room and bathroom were very nice, comfortable (bed) and clean. We had a double room on the 2nd floor and our balcony looked over the small, quiet garden of the hotel. We could only hear our neighbours sometimes but it was not disturbing. The buffet breakfast was rich. The location of the hotel is very good, the centre is only 5 min. walk. The staff was very friendly. We were by car and after checking out of the hotel we could leave our car in the hotel garage for free until 5pm. All in all, we got quality for the price. We will definitely come back to Adler Cavalieri next time, and I recommend this hotel to everyone!!!

The hotel is very close to the train station, and in that respect it is convenient. But it is several blocks from the main downtown shopping, restaurants, museums, churches, etc. For the convenience of being near the station, one must realize they will be a long walk from all sites. But the hotel is price accordingly, is quiet, and the service is fine. If it were about 2 blocks closer to the main area it would be ideal.

Very nice hotel in not such a great area, although you would never know it. Our room was on the same level as the enclosed garden, which we found to be very calming after a long day walking around the sites of Florence. The buffet breakfast was very nice, although the hot drinks were never hot and if you happen to go to breakfast just after the restaurant opens at 7.ooam, the hot breakfast items such as bacon, eggs and sausage were not cooked and ready to serve. This was a little dissapointing as it was our last morning and we wanted a hot cooked breakfast before we headed off to the airport. All that said, we would stay at the Adler again and with a bit of luck we will.

Sublim hotel. Worth being a bit off-track, with the convenience of it being easy to reach when you come from the highway. Only 10 minutes to the center, walking in small streets makes it a pleasant location. Personnel was extremely nice: I asked to have my coffee outside because I wanted to smoke, without me asking they installed me one of their small table, with a chair, with a tabler cover and everything!! The property is extremely nice: reading rooms (fireplace must be nice in the winter), wine bar (well, it's not REALLY a wine-tasting bar, but they have snacks (salty & sweet) the whole evening long, for free), makes it easy to spend a quiet evening there when you had a long day walking. My friend was sick one morning, I asked if I could take some stuff from the breakfast buffet upstairs, they helped me carry everything, really friendly! One small thing: the sauna and health center are NOT free of charge, and have limited opening hours (and no overlap between male and female times (!!!)). Price is a bit high, but I would go again without hesitation, just for the beauty and relaxing atmosphere of the place and the friendliness of the people.
