Hotel is in a beautiful and fairly convenient location--across from a lovely park on the river. Although the rooms are quite dated and need remodeling, it was generally a reasonably well- maintained hotel in the public areas. As noted by others, this hotel caters to large tour groups, and so sometimes the lobby was very crowded. One big problem with our room was that the air conditioning unit in the ceiling was exceptionally loud, to the point that we could not hear the TV when it was on. Soon after checking in to the hotel we reported this to the cleaning lady who quickly asked another staff member to come check it out. He was very pleasant, and did his best to stop the loud vibration in the ceiling vent. That helped for a while, but clearly the unit is old and needs replacement. Both of those staff members were fantastic. One other issue was that our bed was way too firm for our liking--it was almost as if we were sleeping on a board. Breakfast served was "OK. Oyr My biggest disappointment was with the front desk staff. No one ever smiled or made us feel welcomed on arrival, and over our three days there, all of our questions seemed to annoy them. Although they provided the requested information, I had the sense that they really did not want to be bothered, and no one a the desk seemed to enjoy their job.

Jederzeit gerne wieder! (Die 4 Sterne treffen hier absolut zu!)

The room is large and clean. There's always traffic jam in front of the hotel and noisy. It's a nice hotel, except breakfast. There were so many group tourists (because it's a big hotel) and the breakfast room was occupied by them and quite noisy.

Rooms are very clean. Location is very good. You can walk to the center of the city or easilly take a bus. Since it was the four of us, a taxi was also a convenient option Breakfat was very good compared to other European breakfast we have tried. This is defefetly a good hotel for a fair price

Great hotel with really good breakfast. There were groups there as other travellers have stated but they had breakfast in own dining room and were well organised by reception staff so no problem. Much better value than 2 other hotels where we have stayed in Florence in same price range. Only thing is "Free Parking" advertised by hotel is only about 4 places otherwise parking meters on road E.1 per hour 8am - 8pm Mon - Sat. About 15 mins walk back in the evening although bus service from just behind the hotel to centre. We would definately return and have no qualms about recommending it to anyone looking for quality/price

The room was excellent, a very spacious quad. The breakfast was very good, with room for improvement in the coffee domain. The free parking is a very narrow alley on the side of the hotel, very hard to maneuver the car there. But for 10 Euro/day the garage is OK.

Other than stairs, the only way to our 6th flr room was through the use of the service elevator. Access was further "un-ingratiated" with bus tour personel commandeering the elevator for long periods of time. It was bad enough we had to compete with the room service crew, but to compete with hundreds of pieces of luggage being loaded and unloaded into this small elevator many times everyday was a complete "turn off." On a positive note, the included selfservice breakfast was excellent with quality food and a good selectin.

Very nice accomadations. It was a tiny walk to the main part of town, ok for younger people and those who like to walk. Florence was beautiful and the hotel fit right in. I would stay there again. We had 3 high school graduates in a quad and my wife and me in a double. Work out great. Our shower was a bit small but no big deal.

The hotel was in a great location, right by the river...and an easy walk to the city center. The breakfast buffet was wonderful...lots of fruit, cereals, breads and protein. The staff had that Italian thing...where they think they are "oh so much better than you" but with some insistence, they were helpful. The parking was NOT feasible..there were only 4 or 5 spots, for the hotel and were difficult to get...the parking garage was impossible to get in and out of. The room was very clean, with a great bathroom. The lobby was large and welcoming....all in all a good value for money based on teh breakfast alone!

Hotel Mediterraneo was the best choice! It is within walking distance (10-15 minutes) from all major attractions, exceptionally clean, spacious, and a wonderful value for the price. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and professional and the breakfast each morning was more than we expected. We will definitely stay at this hotel again.

In the hotel's ad a free parking is advertised. It is very eye catching! But they have only a few places in front of the hotel. When I asked the lady at the reception about the advertised free parking she answered me unpolitely (she had a good english knowledge)and refused my wish to have a free parking spot. She even had no clue about this ad and saying "I did not write this but have the task to tell you that your car can parked in the hotel's garage ofcourse for extra charge"! Quite disappointing!!! In addition the "garage" is awful, dirty and messy! It was a really bad start on my vacation.

Except the 2 following points, all was correct during our trip (5 days). 1) The hotel web site is not telling the truth. If you want to park your car in the private hotel parking : it is 25 euros /day this information is not mentionned on the web site! There are about 20 free car parking places for about 300 rooms ... After the arrival, the free parking was of course full so an employee told us to park the car around the hotel ("there will be no problem with the police if the car is well parked"). The car was parked correctly in the street near the hotel but the hotel employee didn't know that this area is sometimes washed : the day after the car was removed by the police --> 120 euros ! There was no indication in the street to give this information (we were parked in the "white lines", not the "blue lines"). The hotel direction didn't want to take in charge the 120 euros. 2) Last point : the bathroom is very very small.

The bathroom was gorgeous. Definitely great value for the money. All the room needed to be perfect was a balcony. Front desk staff not really welcoming-very preoccupied. Once I used the public bathroom in the lobby and there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls. Also when the toilet seat broke in our bathroom, they never fixed it properly. My husband had to complain that it was dangerous to get their attention. It was a busy time for the hotel-lots of groups.

We liked the hotel and the localization, but we did not like the fact of internet access being paid. We took our notebook and there was no free access to speed connection, what is unfair, because, after ADSL age, the user pays just a mensal rate, independent of the number of hours used to access internet.

Everything listed on the site was acurate. The rooms were clean, spaceous (with the exception of the shower, which was the typical Italian shower (which means extremely small if you're from the US!!). The complementary breakfast was one of the best we had on our trip. Meats, cheeses, breads, juices, eggs, etc. Fabulous hotel, we'd go back again. The only issue we had was the walk to where everything is. Even though it was a pleasant walk along the river, it was about 15 minutes to Ponte Vecchio, but we noticed this on the map provided by Venere. Definitely book the wine tasting excursion to Chianti through the front desk!!!!

Good and clean bathroom with bathtub which seems rarely found in Italy. It's good for a hot water spy after a long day's walk with tired and painful feet. I'll give a credit for it. Location of hotel is peaceful but yet close to central. Satisfied with overall facilities. However, don't expect a warm welcoming or helpful staffs. You can get what you ask for but hardly with nice or friendly face - no smile of course.

The Hotel was in good location. Breakfast was OK. The service in restuarnt was better than the service of the Hotel staff. We checked in and went up to our room. The room was new(as they said). There it was plain white with not pictures and the room had foul odor. We didn't unpacked, we asked them to spray the room and went to restuarnt next door(good food) to eat. Came back to the room still very bad odor. Requested another room and got a smaller room (triple), but we still paid the same price as quad (I have two liitle kids(4 and 7) and they were able to fit into single sofa bed sleeping opposit of eachother. The receptionist did not tell us where anything was in the Hotel(where the breakfast will be, where we are and map and all) we had to ask for everything. Nothing for kids to do in the Hotel. Thank Good ness for the portable DVD!! Florence was great our Hotel stay was OK. Don't expect service. I have stayed at 3 star hotels in Italy before, but service makes it pleasure stay.. The Staff needs to put a smile on there faces and be friendly. There was one staff memeber who booked our trip to Pisa and the person who helped us change our room were Good.

The hotel is good enough for the price you pay. It is conveniently located just off the town centre, letting you reach the main sightseeing places with a reasonable walk, but also by one of the buses stopping nearby. It’s also easily linked to the main railway station by public transport. The rooms we stayed in were comfortable and had been refurbished recently; on the other hand, the room with three beds wasn't very big but apart from this, the real problem were the walls, thin like paper, because you could hear very clearly EVERYTHING happening in the adjoining room. The common areas showed clearly their old-fashioned, '70s atmosphere, but on the whole, they were comfortable enough. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful: they let us leave our baggage in a storeroom without any problem, although we had arrived very early the first day. The restaurant staff, on the other hand, was quite clumsy and even rude at times. For those foreigners speaking only English, if you won't find any problem being understood at the reception, forget about it at the restaurant. At breakfast time, the restaurant is often crowded with groups: this means the staff gets soon quite nervous and looks as if they were unable to cope with the situation. The breakfast though was quite rich, with plenty of food.

There was some confusion at check-in time. My husband arrived several hours before me and checked in. When I got there, I was told he wasn't there yet (which worried me) and I was put in a different room. Fortunately, we ran into each other on the stairs. My husband later found out that he had missed a telephone call because the front desk had told the caller that he wasn't a registered guest! The breakfast was very good, except for the coffee. Something happened on the third breakfast--the coffee tasted burnt--and it stayed that way for the next three days. For the most part though, we had a very good stay with very nice accommodations and friendly and helpful staff.

Great location, you can comfortably walk to any of the sites in the city center. It is located along the river and near the park, a short distance from an outdoor market as well. Breakfast was had a good variety. There is internet service where you can buy a card for 1 hour of service for $5. Nice rooms and friendly staff, except if you ask the bartender for ice, he was a little upset. lol Hotel parking is limited, but there is also public parking across the street, if they run out of space.

This is a NO Brainer... if going to Florence choose the Mediterraneo. This is the best value in the City. Extremely helful, friendly staff; 4-star level hotel; room 601 is THE room to stay in if travelling w/ 4. Only issue is that it is a 15 - 20 minute walk to florence historic center...but, the price/ value is completely complelling & very nice park on the Arno River next to Hotel. Will stay there again; will strongly recommend to friends and family.

Location is this hotel's best asset. On the river and a pleasant walk from Ponte Veccio. You can walk to Florence's other sights, but a bus or taxi is easier. Rooms are small but serviceable. We had an odd configuration of four small beds for two people, but used one as a desk and one for our luggage. Service personnel were inconsistent - some were very nice and helpful others seemed to hope you would go away. Restaurant has good foor with again, inconsistent service. Overall I would stay there again - a good value for the price.

The Mediterraneo was the nicest hotel we booked through Venere.com. Our eyes opened wide because it was so elegant. The room was very nice also. Only thing, it was far from anything...we walked along the river then ended up on the other side of the duomo. Ate dinner and then caught a taxi back to the hotel. Wish we had stayed more than one night to have fully enjoyed our stay there. They never informed us that the breakfast was included...I think it was but it was written in italian so I'm not even sure at this point if it really was included. We checked out of the hotel, left the luggage at the train baggage depository then went exploring the next morning. Ate really good pastry and had tea/coffee close to the San Lorenzo Market. Had fun buying leather belts, jacket, designer knock off bag and lots of scarves...cashmere, wool, etc. The price was the best out of the hotels we stayed at for the same price per night.

Compared to the other 3-star hotels we stayed at during our journey, Mediterraneo was clearly pushing 4-star. Breakfast was superior, it had working computers with the internet, full bath/shower instead of the usual shower-closets, and other niceties left Mediterraneo a cut above equivalently-rated (and priced) hotels. Our only difficulty was that it was a bit of a walk to Florence's sights, but since the hotel is right on the river there was no threat of getting lost.

The hotel was very nice. Big lobby.. nice room. Room service is all day and in the afternoon.. so you aren't pressured to leave your hotel in the morning. I slepted until 2 pm without any problems. It is about a 10 - 15 minute walk to the start of the tourist areas. So if you dont mind that this hotel is great. Also this is one of the few hotels in Italy that a guest can walk up to your room without you being charged extra or without them being stopped (if they come during peak morning, afternoon and evening periods as people are coming and going) other hotels have the reception right by the elevators or make you leave your key card so you can't have guest at your room.

A bit far from town, but a great bargain compared to other hotels costing more or providing less.

Initially, we were given a very poor room with inadequate closet space, a broken minibar, no padded luggage bench, and questionable decor. What were they thinking? We asked for a room comparable to that given to our traveling companions (a larger and more desirable room) and were accommodated. The desk clerk indicated that the decor was an "experiment" - of what, we wonder - to see how long it lakes a guest to request a different room? But, in all, the hotel is very fine, fairly priced, and within walking distance to all that we desired to see in Firenze.

Situated very nicely and conveniently close to the city centre and all the main tourist attractions. Comfortable and spacious rooms, however parking is a little bit of a problem.

Relationship between price and quality reflects our view re similar properties in Italy. Perhaps not same rating if elsewhere.

The Hotel is located just outside the old town centre(about 15 minute walk)and seems to cater mainly for travel tours and hence the lobby is nearly always crowded with busloads of tourists. The breakfast room is very noisy and gives one the impression of a factory cafeteria, however that is to be expected when catering for large groups. Staff were not always able to cope in keeing the tables clear. It is the sort of hotel that would appeal to the Americans, glitzy lobby and bath rooms big enough to get their overweight bodies into. I prefer a more intimate hotel, but it was ok for our 3 night stay

Large Hotel with good selection of buffet breakfast. The safety deposit box in our room wasn't working, but otherwise our stay was very pleasant.

Our rooms were rather tiny though clean. However the walls are very thin and can be noisy since many tour groups are awake by 6.30 am !

Very nice and spacious. Least expensive property of the three we stayed in in Como, Rome, and Florence and the best value. Only problem was air conditioning shut off at 6:00 AM two mornings for repairs and upfit of elevator was noisy in the morning. This property is also a good 1.5 miles to center of town, making for a good walk.
