This is a very well situated and highly professional Hotel which merits its 4 star rating. Throughout our week long stay we could find nothing to fault the hotel its staff who were all very friendly and helpful nor its location. We thought the daily house keeping and the breakfast service were exceptional. We will have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others and will use this Hotel again the next time we are in Florence.

The bedroom was comfortable but in the bathroom the shower could have been repaired before our arrival, it was uncomfortable. And , we were having the breakfast, but we wanted to go upstairs to do the make up and we found the maid cleaning our room ......

Nice hotel, clean rooms, good service. Breakfast could be better, and the charge is a bit high for the overall satisfaction, but I would recommend this hotel.

The single room I was in (219) is quite small, but it is OK. The bathroom shower is missing any type of shelf to hold soaps and shampoos which I think should be added. Housekeeping was competent and never interferred with me during my stay. That was nice.

Hotel Carolus was fantastic. The room was very quiet (which is hard to find in Florence) and clean. The location was good: close enough to the city center for convenient sight-seeing, but just far enough away from the noise. A walk with luggage from the train station is a little much, but do-able. The included breakfast was excellent every morning. If you ever need self-service laundry, there is a small one right next door. It would be very tough to beat this value. I tried to save money on previous trips by staying at the convent of Sta. Maria del Carmine (across the Arno), but this hotel is just as inexpensive with a MUCH better room and breakfast. I highly recommend this hotel.

We had a room on the second floor, street side. The street was a bit noisy in the morning, lots of motorbikes, scooters etc. but it didn't bother us. Bathroom was good size, everything very clean. Breakfast was excellent, laundromat next door, very useful. We highly recommend this hotel.

Our visit in February-March 2008 was our fourth stay at this hotel. The Carolus is convenient to, and within walking distance of, Florence's major sights. The staff, as on prior visits, helped us to book scheduled museum visits before our arrival and made us feel welcome - as if returning to friends - rather than serving with cold formality. Apart from occasional celebrants in the street, the hotel is pleasantly quiet. Breakfasts are tasty and ample. Good restaurants near the central market are only short blocks away.

Excellent value for the money! Baths are spacious and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. Ask for a room away from the street-side of the hotel if noise is an issue.

Good hotel, although a bit expensive for the quality of service provided: I´d say it´s actually an upper three-stars hotel. Many restaurants in the surrounding areas

Very pleased with Hotel Carolus, stay was pleasant and request to stay on top floor was granted - good views. Location was good and quiet and close to San Lorenzo markets for great handbag shopping!

This was our second stay at the Carolus. We had so much enjoyed our previous visit over New Years 06-07 that we returned for a quick four nights to celebrate a birthday. Reading our passports, the reception staff recognised the birthday and - quite spontaneously - provided wine and glasses. We enjoyed the comfort, the ambience, and the excellent service and will return to this superb hotel at our earliest opportunity.

Hotel buono, uniche note di demerito: la colazione, appena sufficiente; l'assenza di un internet point. Per il resto tutto ok.

Satisfactory hotel near the old town of Florence. Very bad directions how to approach by car, even in the hotel's homepage. Everything else was as expected of a 4* hotel.

All the employees went out of their way to be helpful except the dark-haired desk clerk who was obnoxious and did nothing to be helpful and was barely courteous. Too bad since we enjoyed everything else. (Be sure to NOT get the handicapped room - unless of course you need it.)

Employees were very nice and so helpful. We were welcome with a wonderful room with a bottle of wine for our honeymoon. Would definitely recommend the place to anyone who wants to visit Florence. Diane did an excellent job in making us feel very welcom. She recommeded an awesome restaurant for our first night in Florence!

A lovely hotel near the center of town. Its position is a real advantage, because it's close enough for a short walk to the major monuments, but is far enough away from the hustle-bustle to allow for relaxation when needed. The staff was delightful, friendly, and helpful in all matters. My only criticism is that the hotel seems to need a paint job: there were scuff marks just about everywhere. But the hotel deserves its 4 stars.

I can recommend this hotel. The rooms were clean and quiet and the staff were friendly. I was on the top floor and had a lovely view of the surrounding hills. My only complaint is the map supplied from the venere website. This indicated that the hotel was in the duomo area of Florence - in fact the hotel is around a kilometre away from where the map suggests (in the SS Anunziata?). Although, in my opinion, the actual location of the hotel (the university area) is more pleasant than the duomo area, I wasted a lot of time wandering around with a heavy bag trying to find it. The map you can obtain from the Carolus website itself is correct.

No view from room. We were looking out into a concrete well area but were not in the room much except at night so it did'nt matter that much.
