After reading numerous previous reviews from American tourists we decided to book this hotel for our 4.5 days stay in December 2009. We were coming from Rome to Florence by a train, so an easy and short (7 min!!) walk to the hotel from train station after 10 pm was one of the main factors that we chose this hotel. The hotel is simply beautiful. Especially its courtyard, although the whole first floor with old beans, old main doors, paintings, rugs, etc was beautiful as well. Our room was simple, but really big comparing with "standard" (1 meter by 1 meter) size of the most of Italian hotels. The bathroom was great!!!!! Special was breakfast--our waiter was amazing guy, very friendly, always had a few nice words for each tourist to welcome. Breakfast was served of an excellent quality in the very modern with tough of history beautiful room!!!!! Plenty of snack to take with you for a long day. We walked everywhere, after midnight, and always safely were back. This hotel has everything what you need that enjoy Florence!!!! The front desk guy provided us with plenty of maps of restaurants, told us his favorite, made calls, etc. The only thing you have to be prepared is expensive Internet connection, but don't worry--just across from the hotel, there is small Internet cafe, where 1 euro for 2 hrs!!!! and plenty of avaialable computers (this cafe was open even after midnight on X-mas day!!!)

good location, near railway station and rental cars, with enough distance from the major attractions but be careful of the rooms that open onto the courtyard. the restaurant is supposed to close at 11 PM but one night guests and the staff were still talking loudly after 12.30 am. Breakfast good and of course Florence is a wonderful place especially for eating and shopping.

Very nice hotel. We got the double room with small private terrace. We enjoyed the room very much. Technical problems in the room were fixed very professionally and quickly. The terrace was just next to the garden bar seating area, so it was a little noisy.

good location, and service. The room is very very small. Only allows a queen size bed plus a make- up desk. It is a standard Best Western hotel, you get what you pay. Somehow, I dont think it reach the 4 stars ranking in terms of quality but definitely is a good deal if it only cost you around 85 euro per night. Only one point for future improvement. We purchased the room with good daily rate of 83.3 Euro without knowing it is under renovation which did cause noise and inconvenience in taking the stair up to our room in 3rd floor.

Rivoli is well located, about 7 minutes walk from the main railway station and less than 10 minutes from the center of the old town. It was the best hotel we have stayed at in Italy or Spain, truly deserving of its 4 stars.

Our stay at the Rivoli was a pleasant one while visiting our daughter at the University. Service staff was friendly and helpful. The location for the price was very good. If you need to connect to trains or buses this hotel is a good option. Easy 10-15 min. walk to the heart of the city. Air quality in the room was a bit poor at times. This was are only negative.

The Rivoli was excellent for our 4 night stay in Florence, only 5 minutes from the railway/bus station and just a short walk away from all the sights, staff were friendly, comfy bed and excellent breakfast, take a swimming costume to use the beautiful outdoor jacuzzi, even in october it looked inviting, I didn't and regretted it Our room overlooked the enclosed garden and jacuzzi and was lovely Make sure you visit the Branacci Chapel and Santa Croce and take a walk to San Miniato and Piazza Michelangelo for spectacular views We used the Terravision bus from Pisa airport to Florence which was straight forward and good value and travelled by train back to Pisa which also was easy and cheap, had one night in Pisa to see the sights and be close to the airport for the flight back, worked out very well, recommend the Bologna in Pisa for a short stay

The hotel is close enough to the station (less than 5 minutes' walk) to mean that you can use the Rivoli as a centre for seeing Tuscany. Yet five minutes or so in the opposite direction takes you to all the sites of Florence. The added bonus of an outdoor jacuzzi, and two quiet gardens made the hotel ideal for our stay. We were upgraded to a room with a very large terrace overlooking the central courtyard / jacuzzi / garde, at no extra cost. Breakfast was undoubtedly the best that we have had in Italy, both in terms of the variety of food on offer and the facility to enjoy it outside if we felt like it. Plenty of good restaurants within 10 minutes walk. A wonderful stay, we would certainly return to the Rivoli in future.

Hotel very well located to city center, walking distance. Nice quiet relaxing stay. I stayed at a peak period and found the city center shops/restraunts can be very expensive. €3.50 for 0.5litre still water not unusual.

The Rivoli is an easy walk from the train station. It is a great location for touring Florence. The staff was helpful and the facilities were great. There is a nice public area for drinks in the evening. Breakfast was poor. But most breakfasts in Italian hotels are poor in our opinion. We would stay at this hotel again.

We were at the Rivoli for 10 days. It's a lovely place, pleasant garden spaces with comfortable seating. Breakfast was fine. The first room offered was cramped and dark, but when we refused it, we were offered a perfectly lovely one overlooking the atrium. That sort of thing happens in hotels often, so I wouldn't hold it against the Rivoli, but if you don't like the room, do ask to see another. The jacuzzi provided a soothing midday break and revived us to go back out and search for our dinner. There's enough activity on the street to make coming and going even at late hours feel comfortable. We were very happy with the Rivoli.

The staff at the Rivoli was friendly and fun. The commons areas need some updating, they have become quite run-down. The rooms were a bit noisy, we could hear every person on the stairs/elevator. The biggest problem, was the FLIGHT (not a few) of stairs you nedd to drag your luggage up to get to the lobby! The breakfast on the roof was lovely, the location is excellant.

Access to a gym and the whirlpool are free, and were excellent, but I missed them in the advertising! A welcome bonus! Air conditioning very intrusive. When it came on it was "reach for your hat time"!

The Rivoli offered a quiet courtyard room which had a balcony overlooking garden and pool. Excellent choice of breakfast items. It was in a wonderful location, but because of one way streets, it was difficult to reach, since we did not know the city.

The hotel is situated very close to all the local attractions, along the street where the hotel is situated is a fantastic restaurant which us run by the brother of one of the bar staff in the hotel. Cant recall the name exactly but it's something like Crocodillo? The hotel overall was clean and friendly and in my opinion offered very good value for money. The only downside would be the noise levels as it is situated on a busy street, but they have tried to rectify this with double windows which keeps out the noise, it worked on our room, but not in our friends room, so guess it's luck of the drawer.

We usually stayed at Hotel Aprile a tre stelle near Hotel Rivoli a quattro stelle. This is our first stay and we feel it not-expensive for a four-star hotel. We booked three double rooms which seemed a little smaller than we considered. Thank you.
