Staff was warm and welcoming and very helpful, and the lobby itself was spacious and lovely. The room itself was surprisingly small, even by European standards, but comfortable and clean. Terrific location, so good value for money overall for a single traveller not too concerned about "charm" in their accommodation.

Walls are a little thin, otherwise, the room was nice (if a little dated), updated bathroom (with towel warmer!), and nice breakfast room with a good and varied breakfast. They'll make you a cappuccino too!

If you're looking for a location convenient to the bus and train stations, this is a good spot. If you're looking for a location close to the major attractions, this may not be it. It's a 10-15 minute walk to Piazza Della Repubblica and everything else is past there. The closeness to the stations also led to a very noisy street running in front of the hotel, and you do hear it in the street-facing rooms. Walls are thin -- I sneezed and someone in the next room said bless you, for example -- so be mindful of that. The single room as expected was small, little storage space. The bathroom was tiny. The breakfast room was gorgeous, breakfast ok. The area seemed sketchy but that may have been due to the construction going on and traffic. There were many families staying there, so,lots of kids around. Bar was there but did not appear to be open, the clerk would get you something though if asked.

This is a great hotel and great location. Breakfast was delicious and great beginning for a day of walking this amazing city. We really appreciated the AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM! We were there during the Italian heat wave in June. Our room was a welcome oasis. Bed was comfortable. Room was small (as most places in Europe) but well appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We arrived by train and had a bit of confusion locating the hotel as we were walking with roller bags. Ask someone where the "front" of the train station is and then follow the directions to the hotel from there. We exited from a side door and got lost at first.

This hotel was very clean and quite charming. It radiated a warm locally family owned feel, as it is a privately owned hotel. The staff were very welcoming and helpful in all phases and the breakfasts were plentiful with an abundance of foods to choose from. We were just 5 minutes by foot to Saint Maria Del Fiore Duomo and 10 minutes from The Museum of Academia where is the statue "DAVID". We would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone and we will. PS...Around the corner is the restaurant "Ostaria dei Pentopoveri" on a street called Via Porcellana. Great food, Great wine, great service, great price!!!!!!

We made a four day sight seeing trip to Florence. The hotel was situated excellently, all attractions could be reached on foot, the bus to the airport just a few minutes away as well as the railway station. Excellent breakfeast buffet served in a beautiful room The rooms were small but sufficient and very clean. The air condition gave also warm air (it was cold outside in winter!). The windows shut out the noise from the street. You only heard the neighbours, unfortunately. Little shops around, the pizzeria next door can be recommanded! We would stay again!

I love Hotel Alba. I have stayed at many hotels in Florence over the years, but the past couple of years I have always come back to stay at Hotel Alba. Hotel Alba is very clean and the staff is really friendly. This year I celebrated my birthday in Florence and after returning from a shopping trip and entering my room they had left a bottle of Moscato and chocolate biscotti. Somewhere along the way they recognized that my birthday was during the time I was staying at the hotel. I thought that was a really nice touch to the stay.

The location of the hotel is excellent, in the centre of Florence, close to central station, bus station for airport transport, shops, etc., and moreover, the street is quiet. Wireless internet connection works very well, a good and various breakfast, rooms kept extremely clean, and as warm as you want. The only thing I would add is bath gown and slippers, these are normally included in 3 star-hotels, especially there's no carpet in the room. Thank you

We were very impressed with our room. It had the ambience of Tuscany, it was spacious and welcoming. The seperate areas for the bathroom and the large spa added greatly to our enjoyment of our visit to Florence. I would highly recommend this property to any visitor both for its presentation and convenient location. The directions of how to get to the property from the train station were difficult to follow however and we had to resort to asking for directions from a shopkeeper.

Our only negative comment would be the surrounding area. While it felt safe, and offered some restaurants and other services, it was not a lovely place for strolling at night. The hotel itself was clean, well appointed and provided us with excellent service. When we checked in, the desk gave us a few perfect suggestions for restaurants. The rooms were the most spacious and luxurious of any hotel we stayed in in this price catagory.

Hotel was very good but due to its proximity to the Santa Maria Novella train station meant some minor street noise, even with the double glazed windows. The air conditioning was a god send as the weather was very hot and humid when we stayed. Major public works at the piazza Santa Maria Novella also made for a dusty area with public access restricted. Once the works are completed it should again be a very nice hotel to stay at. Breakfast room nice, light and airy, with staff on hand to make very good cappucinos as well.

Hotel Alba more than met my expectations from a web reservation. I needed to extend my stay and Hotel Alba was fully booked. They helped me get another room elsewhere but at the last minute a room opened and they looked for me to give me a room at the same rate. Wonderful staff and definitely will recommend this to the most finicky traveller. I would highly recommend a newly opened hotel in Sansepolcro region - the Palazzo Magi. The hotel staff made us feel like guests in a palace, and not a hotel.

Hotel Alba was exactly as advertised - the room was very clean, the staff friendly and the free Internet was a nice extra! We selected the hotel because it was close to the train station, so it worked well for us, but I was a little nervous walking back to the hotel at night. if your looking for a quiet hotel but near the train station, this is perfect. the room where we stayed in on the ground floor is large, with a loft, 2 double beds with 2 flat screen TVs, its newly renovated and pictures shown on the web are very accurate. Although the price is quite expensive as it is already in June and there was an exhibition, it would actually be worth it as it can sleep 4 people. Staff are very pleasant. Breakfast is complete with cold and hot dishes. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms. Noise was a major issue - certailnly not "completely soundproofed" as stated on Venere.com site. Suggest you ask for a room at the rear of the property and not on the main street. Our room was on the top floor facing the main street. With the window open for fresh air the street noise from 2200-0200 was excessive. Noise from neighbouring rooms also travelled into the room. Even with all windows closed, sound was still very evident - not what we expected and significantly detracted from what was otherise a pleasant place to stay. Breakfast caters to Australian tastes well enough, and staff were accommodating to allow us an advance checkout and early breakfast on our last day to allow for travel connections (pre 0700). Some other rooms at the rear of the hotel looked much more spacious, luxurious and potentially quieter, so we may have just got a poor room. Other: fairly "grubby" and imtimidating immediate surrounds, but seemed safe enough and certainly no problems encountered (maybe that's the Firenze way!). A cafe/restaurant ~100m to the left provides good, clean, tasty Italian fare at reasonable prices. Double Decker bus trip was good value to take in the sights - take both trips if you have time (one bus ticket for 24 hours allows as much travel as you want). Would recommend a Sienna day-trip returning via San Gimignano.

Although we were near the lift we never heard it in the room but some sound did carry from footsteps on the tiled stairs outside which was close to the room. The room was spotlessly clean and the towels were changed regularly. Neat touch in the room was the plug-in mosquito repellant unit with regular refills provided. We spent three nights at the hotel. Our was a quadruple room as we were travelling with two youngish grandchildren. Imagine their delight when we entered our room and saw that it was actually part of an old church cloister, refurbished but with lots of charm and a bit quirky. The boys had a whole second bedroom for themselves in the gallery of the room and had a whale of a time. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were served in a lovely patio. When we located the hotel we were a bit put off by the area around the hotel and wondered where on earth we would be able to park the car but there was valet parking available and so we were car-carefree during our stay. In the end we found the hotel to be within walking distance of most of the places we wanted to get to. I would highly recommend this hotel for people like us who need more than two beds in the room.

After a previous stay in Florence I was astonished at the size and quality of this hotel room. I even checked that the quoted price was correct because I didn't believe we had such a nice hotel for the price we got from Venere. Because there were three of us we got the room in the pictures with the spiral staircase. What you don't see in the pictures is that it also had a double shower in the bathroom and a seperate room with a jacuzzi. The refurbishment of this hotel is excellent and being a short walk from the train station it was an ideal location to walk with our suitcases. The walk into the centre for the Duomo, Uffizi is comfortable and the street is safe and quiet. The breakfast buffet was good and in a covered courtyard within the hotel. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definately stay here again.

Hotel Alba was just a wonderful experience during our visit to Florence. However, the night manager's lack of any English proved to be somewhat humorous for us but seemed frustrating for him. I tried to tell him I had arranged for a shuttle to the airport at 4:30 AM. He did not understand and called a taxi for me. There was quite a shouting match at the front door when I left. The called taxi and the night manager were shouting at each other as I slipped by them to get my prearranged shuttle.

This is my second time here, but i decided that when in Florence for work i'll be move always there. They gave me the same single room that the first time...it's small but better that at King Hotel in Milan... It's very close to the train station an to the city center. The meal is great!

Our stay at the Hotel Alba was excellent. We arrived early and they had a room ready, not just a room, but a suite. We did not pay an extra and we had the biggest room in Europe! The room had a balcony and a great tub. The place is so close to the train that we took a trip to Pisa. It is close to everything else (with in walking distance). We loved the tub and the breakfast was good. We booked a Tour of the Uffizi through the hotel and it was great. We would without a doubt recommend this hotel.

We booked through the net which is always a bit of a worry but we were not disappointed. The Hotel was great, perfectly located in Florence and within walking distance of all the major attractions and museums. Quality of rooms and service was excellent - real value for money.

It is in a very convenient place of a few minutes from the station. It equipped with the Internet in the lobby and it found it useful at command. The interior of the room was be able a relieved very wonderful space. Moisture shut oneself up and it was annoyed by the attack of the mosquito at night though the jacuzzi where the fresco painting was drawn was very wonderful. The drain of the air conditioner is regrettable and it is very regrettable in the room that the flowing luggage is wet. Because the stamp of air mail did not put it, it was also regrettable not to be able to keep mail. The room wanted to stay again if these were able to be improved by very widespread.

A very quiet and cosy hotel, friendly and helpful staff, really not expensive for the space we had occupied (we've got a quadruple apartment with private entrance to internal balcony - nice to drink any delicious tuscany's wine outside!). My daughter liked it very much, and my friends in the neighbouring room, too! 10-15 minutes walk to the Center, and 5 to the railway station, some good typical restaurants & pizzerias in the nearest surrounding. The only shortcoming to be improved - a wardrobe of a very small size for family with 1-2 children. Should I visit Florence next time, hotel ALBA undoubtedly will be No.1 for pleasant staying! NB. For the funs of Dr.Hannibal Lecter - in 30 meters from the hotel there is a famous perfume shop where he was shooted by camera. This shop is a great museum itself!

Excellent hotel, completely refurbished, almost a 4 star hotel. Excellent breakfast as well. Very handy location near main train station. One big minus: The stairs, which doubled as fire escape, were closed off during our stay Feb 1 - Feb 4. Luckily there was no fire or power cut, because the only way out of our second floor room was via the lift!

Nice location, great value for my room. My friends spent $20 more a night and ended up with a smaller room in a hotel on the same block. The room was immaculate, quiet, and it overlooked a courtyard.

This is one of the best properties that we have come across in our Italian travels. The hotel is well situated, near the train station, and within easy access of all the sites. The staff was always helpful. A true find. We will try to use this property on every visit to Firenze. Special thanks to Odone for making our stay so enjoyable. His competence is much appreciated! Thank you.

My room was not ready when I checked in after noon but was able to leave my luggage and go across the street to have lunch at a cafe. The hotel is very pleasant in a very convenient area within walking distance from S M Novella station and the bus station. The breakfast room is very nice with good selection and my room eventhough overlooking the street was not noisy and very pleasant. I would stay at this hotel again.

A great hotel. Close to Florence SMN train station and only a short walk to the major sights in Florence. One of the best value hotels I have ever stayed in. I would encourage anyone planning to stay in Florence to to put the Alba high on their list. A friend has also recently stayed at the Alba and had the same experiance.

The bathroom was on the small side, but exceptionally clean. The entire accomodations were very brightly lit and looked as though recently updated. We found our room very quiet--it was situated towards the back of the hotel overlooking the courtyard and the dining area below. We did speak to some travellers who had a room towards the street and they did find it to be noisy. The common areas were very spacious, including the internet room. Internet usage was free and unlimited to guests. We found that we could walk to all the main areas of Firenze from the hotel which is located very close to the train station.

The persons at the desk were so very nice and helpful. The room was small but not any more so than any of the rooms in Italy. The location was perfect..able to walk everywhere. Breakfast was really enjoyable in the spacious breakfast area. I really enjoyed this hotel and would definitely return.

We were pleasantly surprised with Hotel Alba. It was spacious and clean, and very reasonably priced. Its location was great, near the train station and 5 minute walk to the Duomo. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the room was quiet and private with a beautiful courtyard on the mezzanine level. We would definitely recommend Hotel Alba for value for money and comfort and location.

My husband and I very much enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Alba and would highly recommend this hotel. It is a lovely hotel, in an excellent and convenient location -- within walking distance to everything. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and more than adequate. The bathrooms are well supplied and perfect. There was an excellent variety of breakfast foods served in a lovely breakfast room. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Alba the next time we are in Florence. We travel extensively and would rate Hotel Alba as one of the best.

In general, I found this hotel to be grossly overpriced as compared with other hotels in cities I visited during my trip to Italy. Clean but kind of cold and boring (YELLOW ROOM) with no personality. Staff overall was fine but the facilities offered were minimal (bathroom very small and no space around beds), the price was really too high for the money. Convenient location to the railroad station though.

A nice small hotel, walking distance from the train station even with bags. Easy walk to the major sites. Room was a good sized triple with a good shower (altho pretty small as most are in Europe).
