Hotel La Conchiglia - Fregene, Rome

On my opinion the hotel conchiglia has got only a very very nice view because it is in front of the sea that you can see every day you wake up by a large window. Stop. The double room we had was spacious but empty:only 2 chairs, a little Tv no picture on the whole covered paper wall. The closet was very old only one mirror inside the closet and the bathroom was so little and so not renewed since 70's. It was nude ,only a cheap white furniture without anything around the washbasin,a cheap bathmat that you can usually use for washing the floors and the new replaced telephone shower on an old system that was hanging down without any hook attack.Last but not least in the room there were two sockets out of use on three so that we didn't have available ones to charge our i pods and mobiles.All these things seems to be stupid and maybe it was a particular situation because it ws the last room available but even the common space were run down. It's the typical example of hotel that live on the fame of the name wich is a standard of Fregene since 70's and it's quite the only hotel to stay and the fantastic position. The restaurant is very good and the staff too.

The draw of this hotel was it's nearness to the Rome airport. But this didn't translate into a low cab fare. The fare was 35Euros each way. The hotel shuttle is 10Euroes per person and has to be booked in advance. There were 4 persons in my party. The pictures on the website are outdated. The property is run-down and in need of paint and cleaning. The people with me were horrified when the cab turned into the parking lot. I, being the one who had made the reservation,was extremely upset over the cab fare and the condition of the hotel. The pluses were that the beds were comfortable and the sheets and towels were clean. At the time I was there the A/C was not working so a window had to be left open which led to insects in the room.

The rooms, breakfast and welcomes are neither good nor bad. I asked front desk to call a taxi. Then,he call his friend (a taxi without authorization). She was kept me wating for a long time, furthermore taxed expensive money!! I can't stand that. Considering double taxi fare and hotel bill, I should have stay a hotel in airport.

Our stay at Conchiglia was excellent.I would highly recommend this gem of a Hotel.The staff were professional,welcoming and warm.I felt truely at home.There are some excellent restaurants recommended by the Hotel.The beach is just across the road.There are afew shops 10 mins walk away for essentials and Two tavola caldas for takeaway or eatin if you are on a budget~As an Italian I can say the food was good.We stayed at end of season so it was very quiet-although the Hotel was almost fully booked.The restaurant is very good.Breakfast was abundant and healthy~but also with the usual cornetti and delicious cakes.A blissful relaxing time.I have nothing negative to say about Conchiglia~If I return to Fregene I would go back.Ps All rooms have Balconies.AC.They even supply mosquito repellent plugins.10 out of 10 Conchiglia and many thanks to you all.Ciao ciao!!.

The hotel was further from the airport than indicated and therefore a 50 euro taxi fare! The staff were polite but some were not very welcoming or helpful and the hotel could do with a facelift. The location was good due to being directly opposite the beach, but there was absolutely nothing else in the area at all. A walk into the small town centre took about 10 - 15 minutes. The restaurany at the hotel was good and the staff here were lovely.

For our purposes it was somewhat far from everywhere it being a sea resort. We wanted closeness to Fiumicino airport and it was quite far but I guess that was a problem of our ignorance about the areas around Rome and we just wanted to say the night. It is a place for summer vacation. People were kind although they did not go out of their way at the reception desk. The lad of the night shift was very nice in providing us with some breakfast at 5:30 a.m. The place is a wee bit run down.
