The Majestic Hotel - Fira

Very good rates offered for a high standard hotel!

Excellent hotel. only drawback is proximity to road, with traffic noise. management and personnel are impecable. would certainly return.

If you do not wish to spend a bad holiday please read our comments. We had a very disagreable surprise on arriving at Hotel Majestic seeing the room that had been assigned to us on the first story and that was supposed to have a view of the volcano, really had a view towards the most busy and noisy street of Santorini. Beware of the photos of the Hotel that appear in Internet. Do not make a mistake like we did. In the photo that was taken from the air appears a Volcano, but from our room in the first story we could see a 100 per cent of the street that was 20 meters away and we could hardly have a sight of the volcano. Do not believe the comments that say that the swimming pool is wonderful, the photo does not show the empty surroundings getting out of the pool. The Hotel is very pretty but is very badly placed for our expectations which was to have a peaceful stay (not in a noisy street) and the most beautiful sunsets in the world instead of a view of the cement of the streets. We gave our points of view to the manager why we were cancelling our stay at the Hotel, but he did not mind, neither charging us one day for a place we did not occupy due to the publicity that does not adjust to reality. If you do not believe us, try it and you will remember us, look properly at the photos, that is if they do not change them after reading our comments.

We had a wonderful time and would definitely return to the Majestic. The restuarant staff especially Dimitri (waiter) was excellent and very friendly. They were so great with my son of 18 months, which made our stay all the better. The reception staff as well as room service were not always very understanding of the English language,which sometimes made conversating a bit difficult, but all in all, our stay was great. The hotel rooms are American motel style. Without passing the reception, we can access to rooms directly from the outside. We can see sea from all the rooms. But volcano view is definitely better. The volcano view room faces west and we can enjoy very romantic sunset from the room. Other rooms face east and we can see Aegena sea slightly. Around the pool, there are sufficient beach beds. However, beach beds under the shade are occupied early in the morning (people occupies them around 7:30am!!) 10min walk to the town(Fira).

A beautiful hotel with a commanding view of the volcano. A bit of a walk - uphill - to Fira, but easy access from airport and new harbor. I especially appreciated the complimentary car waiting for me when I arrived by ferry. I highly recommend this hotel.
