Hotel Astir Thira - Fira

Look for something else, get something much better for bit more money

The hotel is very functional and located in Fira (very close to bus station/taxi stand). It is only a short walk to all of the restaurants and shopping in Fira and an easy bus trip to the beaches, etc. This is a no frills hotel and the staff was not overly friendly.

My partner and I's stay at Astir Thira was wonderful. This family owned and operated hotel was well located and run by wonderful people. We will def be staying here again when we return to Santorini!

Very good hotel in a incredible place. The people in the hotel were very helpful with us. We had to stay one more nigh due to a problem with the ferry and they help us a lot!!! I recommend the hotel as well as being in Santorini!

The road is very noisy. My room had a beautiful view on the volcano, but there are so many cars driving in front of the hotel.

We loved this hotel! The rooms and pool area were beautiful. Service was good, and it was a good location, right on the outside of the main town Fira, an easy walk away. If I go back to Fira, I will stay at this hotel again.

The room with view is more expensive but if is located in the first floor almost don´t have any view

Hotel Astir Thira by far should be rated much higher than a 2 star hotel!! It is more like a 3 or 4 star. The family owned and operated staff was extremely friendly, helpful and overaccomodating. We checked in and they upgraded us to the volcano view at no extra cost. The walk into the city centre was an 8minute walk. The city centre area is the place to stay in Santorini. We rented a car for 35 euro per day and visited all of the beaches on the island. If you do not want to rent a car, the bus station is a 5 minute walk and everyone takes the bus for 2 euro each way per person and it leaves every 1/2 hour! Breakfast consisted of eggs/bread/cheeses/meats/juice/coffee/cereal/yoghurt/peaches...enough to get you by until lunch. The pictures on Venere.com do not do justice for this hotel! The hotel is much nicer than what the site has listed. The pool is beautiful and warm and the hotel is soooooo clean!!! Not a spec of dirt anywhere. Free wi-fi! I search and search until I find a great hotel and this was definitely a diamond in the rough!!!!!

Great location, on Main strip (little noisy) fantastic staff.

We had plenty of space in our triple room. It was very clean and the staff was very helpful. It was a quiet location within an easy walk to Fira. The breakfast was very good. There was a car to take us to and from the airport and sea port. It was a new hotel with a beautiful view of the sea.

Very nice place to stay. People helpfull. A few steps from down town Fira. Beautyful view of the vulcano. Great!

A small hotel in a walking distance from Fira.is on the road and is noisy.Owners are very kind and generally staying iw good.

An excellent hotel, beautiful decor and pool, great dining room with excellent view. The service was top class.

Es importante saber que en Thira no hay numeros ni nombres en las calles, por lo que solo se puede llegar preguntando o llamando previamente al hotel. El servicio de bus al puerto es buenisimo. El hotel es sencillo, pero muy bueno con una piscina bonita, un desayuno bien completo, buena ubicacion... muy recomendable.

Poor competence of employees and bad quality of information given in the hotel reception. Breakfast very simple and restricted to a short period. The hotel staff tried to force us paying cash instead of credit card. The hotel is good located.

Generally, it's a very nice small hotel, walking distance from the center of Fira. Two improvement areas: (1) at check-out we were asked to pay cash vs. credit card due to high interest the hotel has to pay to their bank. Finally me managed to pay partially in cash and by card; (2) we didn't manage to communicate with the hotel to arrange a transfer from the port. The email address listed on venere.com retured an error. On check-out - we didn't have any problems with a transfer (complimentary).

Welcoming is very poor

We absolutely loved this hotel. It was so convenient to walk into Fira and yet it was quiet and away from the tourist sections of town. The owners could not have been nicer and were wonderful about picking us up at the airport and driving us to the ferry. The view from our balcony of the volcano was outstanding

Nice and comfortable hotel. Clean and newly decorated. The staff there are very nice also. Really close to the town center. Everything is great except that is a little bit noisy :p
