this place is a real gem. I booked by mistake - thinking it was in Bologna - but boy Ferrara is well worth it. What a beautiful place. The hotel was incredibly accommodating - nothing was too much trouble. We arrived late and he parked my car. No dinner was available and no wine possible to buy from him - but he told us all the local places to go. Lovely B&B. Breakfast good too. Oh, and leave yourself a couple of hours to look around the town in the morning. The castle - about 150m away from the hotel [down typically swisty cobbled lanes] is well worth a visit.

I'd always wanted to stay in this hotel but despite having been to Ferrara several times, I never had so I was determined to this summer. The hotel didn't disappoint. The breakfast was amazing!! We stayed in hotels in Rome, Florence and Venice and the De Prati's breakfast was by far the best. The only thing that let our stay down was that our room seemed to have lots of lights in it from the TV, the smoke alarm etc and it overlooked the internal courtyard so at night when the light was on downstairs it came into our room. Probably not a problem if you are not a light sleeper but I am! It didn't bother the friend I was with at all. Overall a fantastic stay and I'd go back again.

THe hotel was very nice and has a wonderful central location, near the castle. My room was very clean, and I really liked the modern bathroom. The front desk staff were exceptionally nice and helpful and I felt at home immediately. The breakfast was very good and very healthy and I loved the classical music played in the dining room at breakfast. My room was not large, but it was large enough for my purposes (sleeping and changing clothes). my only complaint, and this is not the fault of the hotel, is that there is a pub around the corner at the end of the street, and was noisy till about 1 a.m. and I'm a light sleeper. I would have preferred a room that didn't face the street. But Italy is generally noisy these days, , whether from school groups, drunk students or barking dogs, so this hotel was no worse than others in that sense. The guests were quiet so that wasn't a problem. Overall I would highly recommend the hotel and would return again. I stayed two nights.

Excellent value for the money. Kind employees, abundant & healthy breakfast, spacious, clean & well-designed rooms, great position. Only drawback was horizontal soundproofing, i.e. we heard the people in the adjoining room as if we were in the same room...

Simply excellent, fits the Ferrara old town perfectly. Superb and stylish interior decoration. Our 4 bed apartment made us feel kings. Very nice breakfast. Parking nearby at a reasonable price (5 EUR per night).

The De Prati is a quality hotel run by people who care - very friendly & welcoming. The room we had was well appointed, the whole place was spotlessly clean and there was an excellent breakfast buffet. The Hotel is a few minutes stroll from the centre, but perfectly quiet at night. Parking is in a public carpark about 5 minutes walk away - 3.50 a day tickets available from reception.

Excellent hotel--the best we stayed at during our two week trip to Italy. Price and quality let you know that you are off the main tourist route. Hotel staff were excellent, breakfast was good, location was close to all the sights. Would definite stay here again in a heartbeat.

It is perhaps the best hotel of the 8 we visited in Italy. Everyting is good about it - location, friendliness of the operators, physical quality of the place and even the breakfast.

Very nice. Breakfast was excellent, staff was friendly and very helpful. Hotel was very nice (although view from roon was less than expected), and location in Ferrara was really central and convenient -- beautiful town by the way. This hotel was by far the best value of any hotel I've stayed at in Europe!

This hotel was beautifully quiet but extremely central. The air conditioning was the best we encountered in the 4 hotels we stayed in in Italy. It was good to see a hotel taking a serious commitment to the environment in its policies. Breakfast was excellent. The bedroom we had was rather dark, but otherwise very pleasant. It would be good to have an individual safe in each room, but the desk was happy to put our valuables in a central safe.

Excellent in all respects. Nice rooms. Location is excellent for getting about Ferrara. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast, except from the fact that the hotel needs some more employees at the rush hour. I can highly recommend this hotel.

Great breakfasts. Great employees. Part of legambiente(?), a group of hotels devoted to recycling, quiet, local foods and business, etc. Great breakfast room and lobby with stunning local art. Room was elegant.

While the common areas were beautiful, the room was in rather poor condition, with old flooring, an old TV seta and furniture, and moldy mirrors. I had to fold up a blanket to use for a pillow because the one left was so thin. Wifi is free, which is a perk, but keep in mind that if you are used to having your computer online 24-7 as an American, this kind of behavior is appalling to an Italian. The woman at the desk asked me how long I was connected and looked at me as if I had 8 heads when I indicated that I was connected the entire night.

We had a very pleasant stay in Ferrara at this hotel. The woman at the desk was very helpful and friendly and she gave us a wonderful dinner recommendation when we found out that our first choice was booked. The hotel is a 3 minute walk from the Castello and very convenient to the heart of Ferrara without being right in the middle of it. We were very happy with the quality of the hotel, location, price and service.

I would praise above all the very kind, helpful, competent and knowledgeable gentleman at the reception, but also the lady who replaces him. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The position of the hotel just perfect, the room simple and very clean.

We found it a charming hotel with a charming and courteous staff. Its position with relation to the centre of the city could not be better. We were visiting Ferrara for cultural and tourism reasons.

Hotel molto carino e tranquillo.

First time in Ferrara we- a family with 4 little children - stayed 6 days in the Hotel De Prati which is a excellent situated quiet place in the centro storico. In the hotel itself everything was fine, spacious rooms- the children had a quadruple with a wonderful 'terraza' in the third floor-, breakfast very good, the staff friendly and helpful. Ferrara, its surroundings, and the 'De Prati': absolutely worth to discover, to enjoy and to recommend.

Outstanding Facility. We stayed there for 3 nights and were extremely happy with all areas of the stay. The staff stood out mainly, their ambition to help was outstanding. They went out of there way many many times to help us with directions, getting cabs, book train tickets, etc.... I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Ferrara.

The photographs don't do justice to the hotel the real thing is much nicer. The decoration of the hotel is special (a mix of modern art and antique furnitures, very interesting). Our room was large, quiet, clean and comfortable. It is close to the castle. There was no parking at the hotel but we were offered a "pass" for the public parking on the streets that cost 3 euros per day (a very good deal). We had no problem finding a parking space. The breakfast was very good. There was organic food available.

We found this hotel excellent in all aspects. The location is delightful, on the edge of the renaisance side and very handy for the medieval part of the city. The surrounding area is very quiet. The hotel is about two minutes from the splendid castle. All in all a very enjoyable stay at this hotel.

This property was very good for the historic centre. There was no car parking near but there was a very good bus service from the historic centre car park, which was only 2 euros per day. The hotel was very good and staff were friendly and helpful

The De Prati staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location is excellent- very easy walking distance to the historic center. The only disadvantge was the difficulty in finding parking near the hotel. We had to park a good 10 minutes' brisk walk away, though parking was free.
