Astra Hotel - Ferrara

Excellent breakfast and good location

Comfortable, clean, not luxurious but proper, the lack of internet connection for the guests is a great minus.Ferrara itself is a lovely city, a site recognized by Unesco as a universal treasure, the cathedral, the Jewish history connected with the town and Giorgio Basssani, the writer who wrote beautiful books about the city.

Receptionist a bit offhand on arrival. Hotel was very good value and our room was spacious with a nice outlook. Restaurant was soulless as only 3 tables occupied and staff started rearranging tables ready for a conference next day whilst we were still eating. In spite of this the food was good value.

Comfortable hotel close to centre of city and train station. Spacious bedroom splendidly decorated with style and taste, spacious clean bathroom. Good breakfast.

The was a beetle in the room. Not something you expect from a 4 stars hotel...

Good location along the main street in Ferrara. Along the way between the train station and the city center. (About 1 KM from the train station and less than .5 KM from the historical center (Castle). Excellent breakfast. Nice room and lobby area. Good value for the price. No complaints. I have stayed there before and would stay there again.

Hotel Astra meet our expectation. Close to downtown and parking areas. Courtesy and competence are on TOP. In Ferrara is simple have a good meals, but we suggest the restaurant: "il Don Giovanni" www.ildongiovanni.com, Balebu'Ste, Osteria del Ghetto, Osteria La campana and the gran bar Leon D'oro. Ferrara lovely medioeval city.

This is really a business hotel and not particularly welcoming to tourists. The staff always seemed to be busy talking to each other when we came into the lobby, although Fabiola was very good at providing directions and restaurant reservations. The staff should indicate that parking is nerly impossible in Ferrara. Entering the garage is difficult because of the dumpsters in the alley outside the garage door. My reservation originally indicated that parking was free but when we arrived, we were told that there was a 12E charge per day for parking.

Everything was as presented the only negative for me was the room was extremely warm and the carpet was very dirty. The rest of the hotel was very good, the staff was friendly, the breakfast was filling and the dining area was very clean and the staff very accommodating.

Il prezzo giusto per la camera matrimoniale a mio parere doveva essere al max. 80 euro e non 110 come ho pagato. Per il resto tutto molto bene.

This hotel was superb. It was very cheap, and the service was great. The room was spacious and clean. The garage is very small, and it was difficult to get my Suzuki Vitara in-they also charge for use of the garage, which they don't advertise. I'm still quite happy with the hotel and would definitely stay there again and/or recommend it to others. Breakfast was good, and they made me a fresh cappucino upon request.

Perfect for business travellers: clean, quick check-in and check-out. I did not like the furniture, a bit to '80s style. Overall, nice place to stay

The hotel bar claimed to be open but was not open every night. Otherwise, a second stay and good value

The Best Western Hotel brochure (of which the Astra is a member), states that all rooms in the chain have tea and coffee making facilities in every room. This is not the case in the Astra and , when questioned about this, the staff said no rooms at the Astra have these facilities. Otherwise, this is a typical business hotel and is comfortable for a few days sightseeing in the area.

Buena localización a medio camino entre estación y casco antiguo. Habitación amplia pero anticuada y lúgubre(los armarios apestan). Desayuno bien para el standard italiano. Good location (half way from train station to historical center). Big room & bathroom but both need urgent redecoration: Mattresses & quilts have seen better times. Carpet and wall paper in similar condition. Good breakfast by italian standard

The hotel has an ideal location, close to the very center of town and very easy to reach with the car. Personnel has been extremely kind and helpful. Area of improvement: breakfast buffet, although in line with the standard of italian hotels of the same level, is poor compared with the other european hotels. Anyway, an excellent choice.

I still don't understand how I got B&B for 90E in a room which seems to be priced at 415E (notice on the inside of the door). At 90E, it is indeed excellent value and I have absolutely no criticism to make.

Excellent value for money (80 € for a suite), room full of character and spacious enough. Excellent location in the centre of Ferrara.

Excellent position in town, good value. Some of the group would heve preferred bath rather than shower. Parking expensive @ €18 per night.
