All basic comfort standards are met, excellent value for money relationship. Lift available although the building is in an old part of the town (with nice, authentic atmosphere :-) ). It was a perfect stay.

Spent one night here before flying out of Faro and it was perfect for that purpose ... staff great, breakfast lovely and good location to explore central Faro. We had a room at the front of the building and the street was quite noisy even with the windows fully closed - so not a problem for one night but could be for a longer stay ... would guess that the rooms at the back would not have this problem.

Forgettable but adequate continental breakfast. Our room could only be reached via a staircase, other rooms (in a different wing) could be accessed by elevator as well. Internet signal was weak but it is easily resolved if you sit in the comfortable lounge area or inner courtyard/patio.

The hotel is fine for a couple of nights. Clean and quiet, but no luxurious. I found it a bit expensive but might be due to the location. Breakfast is correct but not very good quality, but the terrace is nice. Staff was friendly and competent. Location is perfect to visit the old town and close to bus stops and train station to reach other destinations. I don't recommend staying in Faro more than 2 days as beaches are not gorgeous (and quite far away) and the town is very small. This a good place for a first day in Algarve and then head to Lagos which is much nicer!

This was an excellent little hotel, an ideal place for us to stay a night as a family of four. A very nice clean and spacious room, and a good breakfast served in the courtyard. Very centrally located, close to the railway station and the centre of town. We would certainly recommend it and we would stay there again if we visit Faro.

Overall, I was disappointed with my stay. Apart from the location and cleanliness, both of which are good, this hotel has nothing else going for it. When I checked in, about 7.30pm, there was only one member of staff on reception and we waited 5 minutes for any sort of acknowledgement, and when this came it was not very welcoming. Our passports were taken away for 20 minutes, something I've not experienced in many years of travel, and which I don't really understand. Security is poor, as you could reach over the desk and help yourself to anyone else's room key; given there is often only one member of staff on duty, who is often called away from the desk, this is waiting to happen - if it hasn't already of course. In the room there is little space, though it was very clean to be fair. Hot water takes a long time to come on, which is not useful if you are up early and need to make a quick departure. Shower doors were falling apart. Another point of security and safety: the electricity works by inserting the key card into a slot by the room door. You also have to lock the door manually. Once the key is taken out of the slot everything turns off immediately. This means if there was a fire in the night, you would have to try and unlock the door in the dark - that or sleep with the door unlocked! Breakfast was very poor indeed: very bad quality items and certainly not to be recommended. They charge extra for proper juice or coffee, clearly acknowledging that what they offer for free is terrible. The staff issue, I believe, is that this place exists simply to fill the pockets of its owner with your euros, with no concern for your safety, security or quality of stay. I almost forgot, Internet is charged at 2 euro per 1/2 hr, which is practically theft these days! I would recommend you stay away from this hotel. This is obviously only my own personal experience, but I'm well travelled and believe I view things objectively; I don't understand where this place gets its good ra

double Room incredibly tiny; barely room to walk; owner(?) unfriendly; said our room wasn't ready and gave us very very small room; watched guests as though he was afraid we would steal something. Not a welcoming atmosphere. Overnight on way to Sevilla from Lisbon. Very convenient walk from train station/bus station. Just minutes to both.

Stayed 2 nights in the 1st week of October. Very close to both bus and train station - a few minutes walk away. Great place. Nice airy room with balcony. Spotlessly clean. Quiet place. Very friendly staff. Decent breakfast. Close to the old city (Cidade Velha) and shopping area - nothing can be too far in this small town. For food go towards Rua San Antonio or try Adega Nuova just across the street for some Portuguese fare.

We had a wonderful time. The rooms very clean and functional. The three-bedded room was a little tight but fine for a few nights. Breakfast basic, but plentiful, would have liked some sliced tomato and cucumber, but that's just a personal whim. Situated, as it states, a stones throw from the town, harbour and bus station. Will definitely be back - excellent.

My Mum and I stayed for 5 nights at Pension Pensão Residencial Sun Algarve in April 2010. We had a second-floor en-suite room over-looking the quiet courtyard. Our room was basic but clean and very comfortable. Staff were friendly, but not over-bearing, and quietly efficient. Breakfasts were simple but good. We had a fantastic short break in Faro and I hope to return and would have no hesitation staying here again.

The staff and owner were brilliant and very accommodating considering our stay was affected and extended by the Icelandic Volcano. Nothing was too much trouble. All round an excellent experience and we would return without question.

Very welcoming and helpful reception, clean and comfortable rooms, if a little cramped. Nice to have a large balcony. Very quiet room apart from noise at night from roof (probably malfunctioning solar panel). Plenty to eat for breakfast. Very handy for centre of town, bus and train station. Good value

If you have to go to Faro, then this is a good place to stay. The bus to the beach goes from this street and it is only a few minutes walk to the main bus and rail station (to get out of Faro!). The rooms were pleasant enough. The staff would wake us up in the morning by shuffling around the courtyard and speaking loudly, but if you went to bed early enough, you could get enough sleep. The breakfast was basic but served by the friendly owner. The courtyard is the act here and a pleasant place to start your day from. The satff were cordial but nor overly pleased to see you. Questions were answered by refering you to other organisations (bus, rail, etc). The front counter should have bus and rail timetables at the very least (but aparently due to the constant chages they stopped bothering). Having said all that, if i had to go back to Faro (which i will resist with every fibre in my body) i would stay here again. If only for the fantastic pizza place down the road.

The hotel surroundings has to be marked a little lower as the area is quite run down but this does not take away from the quality of the hotel and the area, though run down has a good feel to it. The hotel is outstanding for the price-rooms well presented and cleaned and good lounge and breakfast room. Very competent friendly staff. Town well located for rail and road travel and plenty to occupy yourself for three or four days.

Some people have commented on this being a rough area of Faro. We found it to be fine. The hotel was lovely and quiet.Unsually the family room had 4 single beds, so the children didn't have to share. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the courtyard where we had breakfast was really nice. It also had secure underground parking. and staff told us of a very nice resturant within a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Would recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at Residencial Sun Algarve. Although approaching it we were a bit nervous as it looks like a rough area, the hotel itself is very clean and modernized inside. The rooms are basic but with a spacious bathroom and great shower. It has an elevator and air conditioning. The breakfast room is very pleasant with a lovely outdoor patio at the back. The staff were pleasant and helpful. The owner speaks good English but the staff sometimes have difficulty. Luckily, we had read good reviews ahead of time and weren't put off by the rough appearance of the area. It is just a few minutes walk (left out of the hotel) to the main part of town - lots of cafes and shops and the old part of the town. We got a taxi to the hotel from the airport and it cost about 9 Euros. Our first night we arrived late and staff recommended a restaurant just round the corner called the ADEGO NOVA. We had a great meal there, although some difficulty with language as staff spoke little English. Obviously a favourite with locals and turned out to be one of the favourite meals of our visit to Portugal. Next night staff recommended a restaurant (turn right out of hotel - 5 min. walk - Churrasq St. Antonio). It was very modern inside and we had terrible, really rude service and the food was just okay. So avoid this place! We had lunch at a lovely little cafe called Pasteraria Aderito near Rue San Francisco. Very simple fare but clean and colourful inside and friendly service. They even called a taxi for us as it was raining when we were leaving. Next day we got a taxi to the bus station (5.00 Euro) and then a coach to Lagos (5.50 each for the 2 1/2 hr. trip). We thought Faro was a lovely town but a day or two there is probably enough to see everything.

The rooms which has a view to the street are noisy. It's common situation when local people and maybe tourists speak in a loud voice in the night. There is also a nice patio with little fountain. There live some aquarium fishes. They use patio for breakfast - on the open air -great. it's better to book rooms with the view to this patio. Thelocation is really good - 5 min from the bus and Renfe station - in the center of town. The town is magnificently quiet and original.
