Hotel Vila Galé Estoril - Estoril

Hotel is in the town center on the busy main road through Estoril. It is one block from the Lisbon-Cascais train station and the major bus stops. Lisbon is about 20 minutes by train; Cascais is about 5 minutes by train; there is direct bus service to Sentra, as well. There is no bus service to the airport; taxi is about 45 Euro. We took taxis between the airport and the train (about 10 Euro), and then used the train between Lisbon and Estoril. There is a small public beach across the street from the hotel, and a wonderful walkway along the coast from Estoril to Cascais starting from this beach. Hotel facilities were basic: clean room and helpful staff. A large and varied breakfast buffet was provided with our room reservation. The rooftop pool was small and shallow but provided for some light exercise. We did not use the additional facilities (exercise room, Turkish bath) because the cost was 15 Euro/day for both of us.

Just to say that this hotel is not a 4*, its more a 3* standard hotel

We were very happy with our stay, the staff were very helpfull @ efficient. Only two small points, the coffee at breakfast (of which the food was excellant) was weak and poor quality. Also the constant banging of the sevice doors to the kitchen was annoying otherwise A1 hotel. Site was great opposite the beach @ Esplanade as well as bus stops and train station with a vey pleasant walk to Cascais.

The room (nbr 122, first floor) was located on the corner of the Avenida Marginal, which is a very busy road along the coast, as well as during the morning/evening traffic hours in the working week, as well as during the weekends. Also, right underneath the balcony there are outside seating facilities for the bar next door, and that means again some more noise of people talking until around midnight. On top of this, the reservation made/confirmed through VENERE was not available at the hotel upon check-in. Even the E-mail that was written to the hotel alerting them for our late arrival was not at the front desk. I guess we must feel lucky that the front desk staff found a room for us, as we walked into the place at midnight. The beds are a disaster, as one sleeps on a simple mattress which is put on a piece of wood in the bedframe, making the bed very hard and giving no comfort at all. The room was spacious, but desperately lacked sufficient cupboards, so we lived out of our suitcases. Complaints to the hotel staff were answered with the well-known response that they could not do anything for us, as the hotel was completely booked. The buffet-style breakfast was very acceptable, it even included a `light` version. We noted that many business travellers checked in during the week, and as a conclusion we can state that the place is half OK for 1 or 2 nights max if you travel on business, but for anything more, we would recommend to look for another hotel.

There was not a great deal of choice on the lunch and dinner menu, and was dissappointed to find no tea or coffee making facility in our room, otherwise we found our stay in the Vila Gale an enjoyable one, having said that i would not stay there again prefering to be nearer the center of cascais.

The hotel exceed my expectation

This was a nice hotel, witch offered what was promised thru the internet ad. the onely thing that we had to miss, was the jacuzzi, witch had electrical problems at the time we stayed in november. friendly and helpful employees at the hotel, that could provide us with helpful information about the sourrandings. In all.. a nice stay, and a nice hotel.

Room decor is really dated. Carpets were dirty. The internet rate gives you a room with a view to the parking garage entrance. The breakfast was OK, except for the coffee that was actually dreadful. They also charge extra for everything, such as 4.50 Euros to use the safe.

It was our second visit there, and the hotel is in a brilliant location close to the beach, transport links, shops and restaurants.

First time here. Very good hotel in excellent location very close to station and beach. We had a balcony with our seaview room (extra charge) but well worth it. If you do not have sea view then could be looking at the back of the adjacent hotel. Would recommend. Staff very welcoming. Restaurant stayed open for us on arrival as we were late.

The Hotel Vila Gale offers large rooms, extremely clean public areas, a small pool area with free sun loungers and an excellent buffet breakfast. In my opinion, the hotel offered fantastic value for money. Estoril itself is extremely quiet (and perhaps past its best) with only a handful of restaurants and shops. If you are looking for shops and a wider selection of restaurants, then you have a 10-15 minute walk to Cascais along the pleasant coastal promenade. Estoril is perfectly placed to allow you to explore historic Lisbon and Sintra by public transport.

Excellent hotel, relationship price/quality and steack house inside hotel

As a last minute short break, venere offered excellent value for money with a fine stay in this hotel. The hotel is currently undergoing a small refurbishment which will improve the standard even further. (please note this refurbishment did not distract from an excellent stay). I would stay there again and recommend to others. Thank you.

Would definitely return to Vila Gale Estoril. Rooms spacious, pool good, excellent variety at breakfast.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and would recommend it. Very good hotel, close to station, beach and casino so good location. Very well suited to couples and business people although there were families staying here who were very happy with the hotel. Rooms were kept very clean, we asked for a sea view, and got one which was gorgeous. Rooms were of ample size but ours was slightly smaller, particularly the bathroom, due to the fact that the lift space was incorporated into it, but there was no noise from it. Can recommend the bus from the airport which stops close to the hotel for only 8 euros per person, taxi tried to charge us 65 euros for 2 people.
