We´ve been to Scotland many times, this time for 14 days, Piries was our last stay, it was the most expensive of all the places we stayed and also the poorest. Everything was extremely dirty, the curtains were grey and stiff from dirt, stains on the walls, the carpet, the windowsill, the painting peeling off, No cold water in the tap,we had to fetch a jug with cold water in the reception, the ventilation in the bathroom(!- call that a bathroom again!) made a sound like a huge cooker hood making noise in the whole room, the matress very poor,it was bumping up in the one end when you sat down in the other end, the whole bed almost falling apart, no space, when we placed our suitcases on the floor we almost had to crawl around to get somewhere in the room, a tiny, tiny cupboard with only one clotheshanger but lots of dirt, one socket had a sticker on saying "don`t use, needs earthconnection". So , all in all a very poor and lousy stay. We`ll never return .

I have never stayed in such an awful hotel. The room was shoddy, the carpet dirty and there were cobwebs on the wall, the wardrobe so wobbly we thought it might fall over, there was no hot water to shower one morning and when we asked the desk, a young man did apologise saying they had forgotten to switch on the hot water pump. The TV was probably the smallest model available on the market,a bulb in the bedside lamp was not replaced although we pointed out that it was broken and breakfast - well if you like yesterday's rolls that's fine. We asked for toast and were given half-toasted bread. All in all, at a weekend rate of 140 GBP/night, the cost/performance ratio was poor in the extreme.

Exept for the breakfast, everything was nice, specially the lady's at the reception. My only comment is that somebody promissed us to take care of our lugage the day we had to go home, it was still standing in the lounge at the end of the day. But we had a lovely weekend in Edinburgh!!
