Felt hotel was poor value for money and not representative of other properties I have booked through venere.com. Previous weekend I stayed in an Ibis in Glasgow for £42 per night. Had I known that the Lyncliff is little more than a glorified B&B I would have returned to Glasgow. That said I do appreciate that Edinburgh hotels do tend to be more expensive than Glasgow.

Who and what allows places like this to be called "hotel" ? I think accomodations are ridicously expensive and of extremely poor standard and poor value for money in GB. And I have travelled ! The Lyndhurst was particularly "grotty" yet it is allowed to call itself "Hotel". It was not even at a par with an hostel ! Ceiling papered with strips of different green and yellow wall paper (ridicoulous ), cracks on the wall (subsidence), shared toilet , shared shower, bed backing onto a huge window with worn out venetian blinds which allowed light in even when closed. All this for a £75 per night.!!! Do me a favour. My advice is to give it a big miss when in Edinburgh. And Venere: remove it from your selection or your website will loose a lot of respectability and credibility.

this hotel is ideal for anyone on a budget, a basic hotel at a cheap price, very clean and the manager was very helpful, with restaurants, bars, cinema all within a 5 minute walk,

Comment - the room we were given was exactly 6ft wide. There was no ensuite facilities. When we pointed this out, the owner stated that we had booked a "standard double room". This to someone outside the trade is gobboledegook. The web site should make it far more clear as to the exact nature of the room being booked. The staff were pleasent and cheerful We visit Edinburgh regularly

We went to Edinburgh to see the EIF during the weekend from the 1st to the 3rd September. Our room was quite small and not really clean, the bathroom and the showers were shared with other people (instead we were told that it was outside the room but only for us),and the basin in the room was awfully noisy during the night, so we couldn't sleep well. The breakfast buffet was quite poor. The only positive aspect was the position, it is really central and near to the bus central station...but honestly I wouldn't suggest anyone to book there!

The worst one is the rate quality - price. The space for breakfast is very small. Its announce in Internet as B&B but, in fact, is a hotel, and for the price, the difference is important, a good B&B or a bad hotel. Anyway, for the same price, we have been days after in Brunswick hotel, very close to Lyncliff hotel, and with much more quality.

The hotel is great. The owners were really kind to us. The room was big enough. Despite that you don´t have a private bathroom, everything was absolutely clean all the time. Its location is perfect, near the city centre and main attractions. Great hotel. 100% guaranteed!

The Lyncliff is a small friendly family-run hotel in an excellent location in Edinburgh. We were lucky to get a room in the last week of the festival. Hotels in Edinburgh arent cheap and this is no exception considering the quality of the accomodation. The rooms are small and you share a bathroom with the other guests. The shower room is cramped. The house is old and the plumbing makes loud noises that keep you awake in the morning when the other guests are using the bathroom. On the plus side, you can walk everywhere, it's in a nice part of town, the rooms are kept clean and the staff/family are friendly.
