staff were very good, my problem is with the fact that the property was advertised as a four star hotel with a price tag 320.00 pounds for two nights, no bar, no evening meal included, very small room for the price, windows didn't lock, reception close at 10pm, this was not a four star hotel and wouldn't return nor would i recommend this property as i felt that it was seriously over priced, it was my husband 40th birthday and it was ruined by the over charging and lack of facilities for the price

I thought this was a lovely hotel, very quiet, very nice rooms and welcoming staff. I have nothing but positives to say and would recommend it wholeheartedly. It is a bit of a walk into town (approx 20 min), but there are frequent busses. I think the location explains the prices, so if you want to stay somewhere really nice and still have money to spend in town, this is a good choice.

A really charming hotel, very close to the city centre by bus (5 minutes) situated in a very quiet area just a few meters away the busy avenue going to town. The buffet breakfast was very complete proposing a wide range of fruits, cereals, cold/hot drinks and hot food as well. A lovely hotel, easy to find, at a reasonable price for the service provided. I definitely recommend it and will call again.

A very warm and friendly welcome to the hotel by Andrew, the receptionist followed by good advice on where to get a meal that night and catching the bus into and out of the city centre. Loved the room - larger than most flats in London and of course the equally huge bathroom with open shower area. Hotel should be even better when the restaurant re-opens. Great value and so easy to get into the city centre.

The Salisbury is located in a very pretty neighborhood that is accessible to downtown Edinbugh. The building is old, charming and very well maintained. The high point however is the staff. They were very helpful, even when we requested services that were beyond the norm. There is also a decent restaurant in the building. We were very pleased with our stay there and would most certainly stay there again. Highly recommended. Mary and Al Tucson,AZ

it was a location with bus stop in the near, you can arrive the city in 10 minutes per bus, but: very old hotel, the rooms are clear but very small, our bed was only 1,40 m wide (for two people!), the old windows (to the street)were hardly to open; next time we search another location

Just returned from a 3 week trip to UK, we traveled around quite a lot and stayed at quite a few places ranging from the large American chain hotels to small hotels similar to the Salisbury and would say without a doubt this was the BEST. Beautiful LARGE rooms, modern LARGE bath, great location, and without a doubt some of the best food we ate the entire time. No need to look for anywhere to eat after a long day of sightseeing and shopping, we stayed 3 nights and ate both breakfast and the evening meal at the hotel. Ingredients were fresh, portions ample (even for our 16 year old son) and prices were very reasonable. Warning though, the “sticky toffee pudding” is addictive. May & James and all the staff were helpful and friendly. Definitely a place I would recommend and return to. "Spot On".

I found the Salisbury through TripAdvisor. The descriptions there were very accurate. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is away from the main hotel areas and I liked the quiet of the area and the residential feel. Yet, the hotel is close enough to have easy access by bus or walking to Old Town and New Town. There are good restaurants nearby as well. The staff was wonderful, helpful and friendly. My experience at this hotel was excellent.

The Salisbury is an excellent place from which to sight see Edinburgh. Bus stop round the corner and a short ride to Edinburgh centre, a £1.20 ride. Or £3.00 for an all day, any bus ticket. Room was b eautifully furnished, breakfasts varied and plenty to chose from Cooked breakfast with lots of choise, beautifully cooked. However if noise is an issue ask for a quiet room as rooms above the resturant which is open in the evening do hear some noise. Do not be put off by the stark ouside appearance. Building is behind restaurant car park and looks a bit unloved, some plants outside would improve things. Owners ib site all the time and very helpful. We would stay again and resccommend the Salisbury.

We had a very enjoyable stay. A warm, helpful welcome, spacious airy room with stunning bathroom, big comfortable bed with beautiful linen. Breakfast options were too numerous for us to try over our three night stay. Delicious. Impeccable, unobtrusive service. Highly recommended in all aspects.
