I booked a single room so I expected it to be small. It was small but larger than others I stayed in during my trip. The room was very clean and well appointed. The bed was comfortable. It does take some time for the water to get hot enough for a shower. The hotel is situated about mid-way between city center and Leith but there is a bus stop right across the street and getting around is very easy. There is no lift in the building. Expect some street noise at night. David is a gem of a host and probably the hotel's biggest draw, even more than the cooked-to-order breakfasts. He clearly treats his guests as he would like to be treated.

The only thing that bothered me about the New Haven Town House was that loud talking could be heard from the neighbours one night, and that it could take some time before you could get hot water in the shower. But I suppose that´s just Britain for you. Except for that everything was very good there.

This is exactly as the name implies, situated a little out of the city centre but with excellent bus connections. The owner and staff make every effort to ensure a happy stay and the breakfast is excellent. This is not nor does it claim to be a full service hotel but it is a happy marriage between tariff and value.

I was travelling with my wife and the only problem was that was too expensive in comparision with another B&B that we have visited in Scotland in that days. Its true, in Edimburgh are Hotels very expensive..

This is my second stay in Edinburgh. Because it was the opening weekend of the Tatoo, I did not want to be too close to where the festivities and crowds would be( ie Prince St. and Royal Mile). Therefore, this property, located a distance from downtown, seemed to fit the bill. We found this to be a charming property in appearance. David, the owner, could not have been more helpful or friendly. He was exceptional. The breakfasts were wonderful. We had one of the front rooms looking on the main street. The plus was that we had a charming bay window seating area. The negative was the the road noise. The property is located by an intersection, and there was quite a bit of traffic until late at night. The noise did resume early on weekdays. I would be unsure whether other rooms that do not directly face the intersection would experiece the same degee of noise. This property has few amenities around it. It is located close to a park and is in an area of mixed residential/business. A couple of restaurants were within walking distance. You must take a bus downtown.. about a 10 minute ride. It would be a very long walk. The bus stop is conveniently located right across the street. However, during this weekend of the Tatoo and the Fringe festival, the buses did not run as regular and were not on schedule. One evening we waited nearly 90 minutes for a bus to take us back from downtown to ouraccomodation. Buses should run every 20. The following evening, after a wait of nearly 40 min., we gave up and hailed a taxi. Most mornings the buses were on time going toward the city centre though. I would certainly stay at this property again. However, during August, be forewarned about some inconvenience in terms of access by bus to the property.

Although this hotel was outside the city center, it was right across from a bus stop and then 10 minutes to Edinborough and no parking worries! Wonderful restaurants within walking distance. This trip was our first to Scotland and our host at a Haven Townhouse made our stay at his hotel the most memorable. The bed was extremely comfortable in our room and breakfast each morning was wonderful..best coffee during our trip as well! Also, free internet access. We would definately stay again. Loved it!!

We were very happy with the service during our stay in Edinburgh at the A Haven and especially with David our host who gave us a very warm welcome and all the staff for their service. We would definitely consider staying with A Haven again if we return to Edinburgh in the future.

We had a wonderful stay. The hospitality was great. The bus to town was convenient. We appreciated the free email access. The bed and pillows were very comfortable and we found the breakfast to be good and had enough variety. We would stay here again.

The A Haven Townhouse exceeded all our expectations. This is largely due to the host, David. He simply cannot do enough for you! He gave us excellent directions to places, recommended tours and sights, and his restaurant suggestions were exceptional. David is quite the storyteller, with a keen sense of humour, and we always felt that he genuinely enjoyed our banter. There is an excellent bus service that stops in front of the hotel. It is frequent, easy to use, inexpensive and connects to all areas of Edinburgh. The breakfasts at the A Haven Townhouse were exceptional, the best that we experienced on our trip. The food was plentiful, varied, delicious and a dining experience. The hotel is near the port of Leith, an area with many restaurants and pubs and the Royal Yacht Britannia. Internet service was excellent. To sum it up, David is the "host with the most". We will definitely be staying at the A Haven Townhouse when we return to Edinburgh.

The best thing about A Haven was David Kay, the owner. He was so pleasant, and full of recommendations for restaurants, sightseeing and tours around Edinburgh. Breakfast every morning was very good, and the free internet was even better. My room was quite small, but always very clean and comfortable. A Haven is about a 10 minute bus ride north of Princes Street, and about a 10 minute walk from the harbor. I will definitely stay again!

This was a great place for us to stay in Scotland. David was very helpful and pleasent. The chance to use the computer for our emails was very welcome. The hotel was a little noisy both outside (we arrived during Guy Fawkes celebrations) and from other guests rooms, however that was only on our last night. The bus to downtown was so easy to use, we were delighted with that convienece. We would definatly stay there again.

We had 2 rooms for 3 persons for 2 nights in Edinburgh. This B&B is quite adequate... bordering on exceptional, however the size of the bathrooms & showers are amazingly small. The charm of our host, David, more than made up for any minor discomfort we might have had. Big plus... right on bus lines and David's knowledge of how-to get around via public transport. This is the place to stay if you prefer separate dining tables instead of a farm-style single table for breakfast. The dining room is ornate and charming with huge windows.

I stayed in a single room with an en-suite bathroom on the top floor. The room was not too spacious but had all necessary facilities to make my stay there pleasant and comfortable. A quiet atmosphere, a very warm reception, freshly cooked breakfast , cosy bed and an immensely clean bathroom make the hotel a very good place to stay for a week or so. It is a 10-15 min ride by bus to the sity center, but the bus stops are just by the hotel door.

You simply can not beat A Haven for 50 pounds/night for a single. The staff was lovely, breakfast was wonderful and the location on major bus lines pretty much took you wherever you'd want to go in Edinburgh without fuss. And they had free wireless on the first floor with a computer to use and I emailed my kids and husband while I was solo in Scotland. Superb value for the cost - I'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

What a wonderful place to stay! David is WONDERFUL! He greets you and points the way to all of the great sights! (Even talked us into trying Haggis!) The room was clean and perfect for the three of us with two twins and one double bed. Bathroom was small, but clean and sufficent for our needs. The addition of a great breakfast was a plus. The bus runs right in front and makes it easy to get anywhere in or out of the city. But, even with the great accommodations, the thing that will continue to bring us back again and again, will be the hospitality of DAVID!!!
