Everything was great except for one item: we thought we were getting a full bathroom ensuite. Instead, we shared hallway shower and toilet facilities with an adjacent room. I realize the hotel is abit dated, but I wish I had been aware of this when booking. This situation only obtained for third floor guests.

This is not a four-star hotel, but a guest-hous. The bathroom was at the end of a corridor, separated from the rooms. There weren't any parking places.

I wondered that a 4**** Hotel have no Bath/Shower and/or WC in the room?? It looks very pretty, but I don´t know why it have 4****. The price is ok !!

We had a lovely weekend at the Ben Doran. It's a very cosy and quiet place with good service. If it hadn't been for the unfinished building work on the entrance I'd have rated the experience as excellent.

Well placed for local restaurants and pubs.Within reasonable walking distance(20 mins)of the royal mile and 30 mins of princes street. Rooms are clean and decor is fine and breakfast was good. Located on a busy main road so will not suit those used to rural peace and quiet. Tea and coffee making facilities are not actually in the rooms but are situated on ths landing outside - we found this somewhat idiosyncratic

By car
From the A68 northbound, proceed until you reach the A720, and join the westbound carriageway. Enter the city via the A701 road.
From the A702, join the A720 eastbound until the next junction and enter the city via the A701 road.
From the M8 junction 1, join the A720 eastbound until the turn off for the A701 road, which will take you into Edinburgh.
