Visiting Salzburg with my niece. Stayed in Ebenau due to congestion in Salzburg. Staff at Hotel Obermayr were wonderful. I think that clearer information could be posted onto website in relation to buses to the Hotel, eg timetable, Route numbers, etc (perhaps a link to the Transport group).

They've been very nice with us!!! The hotel is pretty close to Salzburg and is very close to the Lake district.It's a lovely place.Max and Conny are very nice persons and always ready to help you.

Hotel Obermayr is located in the heart of the Austrian countryside, so the houses are sparce, the walk to the town took about 10 minutes. We were lucky to arrive on Austria Day, and live a traditional military graduation ceremony with flags, gunfire, and nearly all town in tyrolean costumes. Medieval/gothic town, impecable maintained, enchanted river passing through the middle of town, man-made lace curtains, typical Alpine surroundings (Heidi-like). A must for relaxation times and the Sound of Music Cd is a must to take with you.I would have loved a bathtub to soak in at the end of the day (spa or similar, don't mind if it was communal).

Hemos quedado gratamente sorprendidos de la calidad ofrecida por este hotel-restaurante en las habitaciones asignadas ( 3 ) y la comida ofrecida. Habitaciones recien reformadas, primeras calidades, buen gusto, de diseño, TV LCD, ducha de obra con mampara transparente, etc.. Desayuno buffet espectacular incluido en el precio, 73 euros por noche hab. doble en agosto, piscina, parking frente al hotel gratis. Solo un pero, no hay ascensor pero solo hay dos plantas. El restaurante tiene unos precios muy competitivos y la atencion del personal ha sido muy buena.

We loved this hotel. The town itself does not offer much but is VERY close to Salzburg. If you are going to be in Ebenau however, I reccomend driving in the opposite direction of Salzburg to see Fuschl am See. This town is spectacular! The website did not do this hotel justice with pictures, as they went through a renovation in May. While the hotel looks traditional Austrian and the hotel restaurant was built with 500 year old wood from a farm nearby, the hotel rooms are new and sleek, like an upscale boutique hotel. We were pleasantly surprised. Because the town is so quiet, and the hotel is on the outskirts of the town, it is very quiet and peaceful. The staff were all very pleasant and mostly we dealt with the owners son. We will definitely return to this hotel.

How to reach Hotel Obermayr
By car
From Germany, proceed on the A8 motorway, following the Salzburg direction. Then proceed on the A10 Tauernautobahn (Tauern motorway), following the Hallein direction. Exit at 'Hallein'. At the first roundabout, turn right, following the Ebenau/Bad Ischl/Fuschl/Hof bei Salzburg direction. After about 15 kilometres through the Wiesthal, you will see the hotel on the left.
From Vienna,, proceed on the A1 Westautobahn, following the Linz/Salzburg direction. Take the exit n.274 (Thalgau). Proceed straight on following the Hof bei Salzburg direction. At the roundabout, turn right, following the Ebenau direction, after about 2 km, turn left, following the Ebenau direction. Drive through the village Ebenau, and, after about 1 km, after the village, you will see the hotel on the right.
By train
From Salzburg main train station take a taxi until the hotel (for around €35,00) or take the bus number 150 until Hof/Fuschl/St. Gilgen/Bad Ischl. You have to change the bus at 'Eggerwirt' leading you to Ebenau. Get off at the 'Werkschulheim Felbertal' station (in front of the hotel).
By airplane
From Salzburg airport take a taxi until the hotel (for around €40,00) or take the public bus until the main train station.
