Hotel V.I.P. - Düsseldorf

A bit out of town in a residential area once you get your bearings its fine

Clean and comfortable, just as we had expected. Spacious room, the only complaints would be that the bed was made from two separate beds and so for a couple not the most convenient bed, and the pillows were huge and so a bit hard to sleep with. Easy access to the tram, and only a 5min stroll to the Köningsallee, or 15min to the old town. Also restaurants nearby, but we did not try them as we ate in the old town.

The hotel is more like an apartment.There was a small reception area next to the breakfast room. The actual rooms are located by going outside and ours was situated on the upper storey so when it rained you needed to put your coat on to go down to breakfast. We had a triple room, two double beds which were like a futon quality, quite basic but adequate. The room was quite spacious with TV, table and chairs, fridge etc. However although there were cooking facilities there wasn't any crockery or pans to use so it seemed pointless providing them. The rooms were very warm which was good as it was December.The breakfast was fine except for the coffee which was dire and the machine broke down so on one morning we couldn't have a hot drink! On the day we left we asked about leaving our luggage at reception as it was a late flight, the response was that the receptionist was leaving at 2.30 and didn't know if anyone else was going to be on duty. She suggested we kept the room on for another 50 euros. We declined, checked out and left our luggage in the station for 4 euros. On the whole for what we paid it was adequate but not what we would call a conventional hotel more a self catering apartment with breakfast included.

Very nice and central hotel but the walls must have been thin as leaves. I could hear everything going in the other rooms. So, if you want a quiet nights sleep, this is not the place. Also the fan in the bathroom kept going on and off without the need for it to do so, and so that also made a lot of noise. Other than that the staff was very helpful and nice. A bit boring breakfast, but hey; it was a cheap hotel.
