I realise that i stayed at high season but i imagine the rates are high in the regaion of 15/20% I found the food areas to be of the highest quality but found it annoying to be questioned by the banquet managers assistant when we took some fruit and yougurt for an early day trip rather than breakfast in the breakfast area. Fine hotel, nice surroundings

We booked a room with a balcony but on arrival found the room allocated was on the bottom floor overlooking a construction site. However, on approaching the staff we were offered another room on the first floor with all facilities. Breakfast was excellent, although dinner better at Hotel next door as has a fantastic view of sunset - don't miss. View from Tirena restaurant poor. Do use the travel agents in the mall near the hotel - excellent. The island trip was worthwhile. Hotel easily accessible from Dubrovnik by bus - ask at bus station.

Good location and surroundings. We really relaxed whole stay. But room cleaning was too late. When we backed to the room at 2pm, it hasn't done. The price was expensive during summer! Anyway it is nice hotel.

Nice hotel & handy for Dubrovnik old town by taxi (about €10). Not much in local surrounding area and no family rooms that I'm aware of.

Upon arrival the cashier started serving customers (Croatians) jumping the line and not the people (all foreigners) waiting on queue. After making a point her statement was "I am just trying to help". No excuse, no smile, just pure ignorance. So - the start was certainly not a good one. Unfortunately there was exceptional service until on the very last day of our visit the lobby bar keeper (a lady) opened us a door when coming from the beach and she also gave a smile which was the only one during the whole week of our stay @ Tirena. She certainly took a pride of her job and 10 points for her! You have a long way before you reach a acceptable European level of service attitude and competence with the rest of your staff. Smile is a free commodity but I guess the old red regime is still hanging over your heads preventing decent service. The breakfast buffet was a good one and that was the best part of Tirena.

We chose to stay at the Hotel Tirena for the last 3 nights of a 3 week trip around Croatia to chill out by the pool. The hotel was nice, but we found the staff generally quite abrupt, sometimes bordering on rude. The swimming pool was very nice, although the snack bar at the pool has a very small selection of food, which surprised us. Breakfast was good with tonnes of choice. Getting into town was very easy (bus stop 2 minutes from the hotel). Overall, the hotel was nice enough, but we preferred the friendly service and the character of other places that we had stayed at.

This place was a really nice hotel however the greeting we received on arrival was shocking so the overall rating I gave was low.The guy they had at reception should not be working in hospitality or with people in general. He grunted the whole time with constant eye rolls. He gave us no information about anything eg; Breakfast times and location, where the pool was (The pool was fantastic, I have to say) or anything else.We only stayed for one night so wasn't too bad. The room was clean, modern and had a nice balcony overlooking the garden but we would stay somewhere else next time based on the level of service or none service in this case.
