Upon arrival, reception was pleasant and very helpful. The room was clean and the staff very accomodating. Noise was evident from the street on and off until about 4:00am, but due to location and not caused by the hotel. Despite this,we would stay here again without hesitation.

We didn't expect too much from the hotel and the first mornings breakfast was fine, however the second ''Full Irish'' that we were served wes inedible, the food was, greasy, fatty and burnt - really bad. The rooms don't have much by the way of sound proofing, we were kept awake most of the first night by the TV in the room next door. I would only reccommend this hotel if you were looking for something cheap, relatively clean and you were not too fussy about eating breakfast.

Very nice accommodation for medium budget, cheap for Dublin. Too far from center town to be reached on foot, but there's many buses connecting it.Delightful Irish breakfast, very warm welcome. A place where to be again

Lovely place - great location, good rooms, brilliant breakfast. The only downside - nighclub downstairs, i was on the second floor but could still hear it loud and clear... Will ask for a room on the top floor next time!!!

Very satisfied with all aspects of the hotel. Location was convenient, good price, clean room, and a large good breakfast. Front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is we stayed there Wednesday night which happened to be karaoke night in the bar below it. The music was loud until 2am and could be heard on the third floor. Otherwise the room was quiet even though it was busy outside. Would stay here again.

Too noisy street in the front and huge fans on the roofs of the rear .... if you must keep the window open 'cause it's too hot you can't probably sleep more than 2 hours, like I did

When I arrived to the Hotel I was fear to leave my luggage at the recepion....There was a man by romania with a strange light in his eyes: He was smoking something strange before??? and was sure leave our luggage to him? Fortunately arrived a pretty gir at the reception and all went good.

Nice hotel in a good neighbourhood, 15 minutes walk to the city centre. The rooms were not very quiet, we heard the music from the dining room. A full Irish breakfast was included, the stuff was very friendly, overall I would recommand the hotel and I would come again because the relationship between price and quality was excellent.

The hotel lies very central, has nice rooms with doushes/wc, the service is friendly and you have a very good and generous breakfast! Because there is a pub in the hotel and much traffic outside in the streets, it was a little bit noisy! We stayed in Dublin as a group of 12 persones (teachers) and wanted to see something of the city. We enjoyed it very much exept the weather!

We stayed there for two nights. Hotel Portobello is not luxurious but everything was clean and we missed nothing. The personnel was very helpful with each of our inquiries.

La migliore soluzione possibile per soggiornare a Dublino. Albergo caratteristico e bellissimo; molto semplice da raggiungere e vicino alle principali vie di comunicazione. E il fiume che costeggia l'albergo è uno spettacolo. Consigliatissimo.

This was a very nice place to stay almost like a suite at a common room price. Breakfast was included with plenty of fruit. We had to take a early flight out, they open breakfast early. The staff & front desk is more than helpful. When we come back to Dublin we will stay at this hotel. We would like to thank the staff again for all their help & service.

The hotel is clean, people are kind and breakfast is very good. Grafton street is 10-minute walk away and the night club wasn't that loud at night, but that possibly depends on the location of your romm. Overall a very nice stay, I would recommend it.

Myself (18) and my partner (20) stayed for 2 weeknights at the Portobello in a double room. It was quite spacious but not as big as the picture of the double room on this website. The staff were very friendly and competent. The breakfast menu was pretty good for the price of the accomodation although the noise levels within the rooms and from outside let the hotel down. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a good quality, cheap place to stay in the Centre of Dublin City.

The hotel was exactly where I wanted to be - only a 10-15 walk from St Stephens Green and Grafton St. I didn't sleep too well on the Saturday night due to the club downstairs but maybe it's because I was hoping to be out myself!

The hotel had reserved for us a room on the corner overlooking to the canal. The view we had was wonderful. I enjoyod this view of the canal with swans and willows, the cathedral nearby and the clock tower further. It was really a pleasure to get my whisky here at the sunset time. The rooms are not too spacious but that was not a problem because I had not expected that. Everything was very clean, the room was cleaned everday. The breakfast was marvellous, we did not need to have lunch after that breakfast. The pub downstairs was also very good, and had very reasonable prices. The location of the hotel is not too far away from the center either, and all of the busses that stopped at the nearby bus stop go to the center. The attitude of the personnel was kind and friendly. Price we paid was cheap compared to the prices in Milan or Rome. Both and I and my wife enjoyed staying at Portobello hotel Dublin

Our room was spacious and nice with windows to two directions. great pillows and duvets. minus for no remote control for tv in room. Nightclub did not bother us although stayed on first floor. only the noise from the tv in the next room bothered a bit(thin walls). coffee served to table at breakfast was a nice plus

The hotel is very nice and the room romantic. The only problem is waking up during the night at 4 a.m. because there is a pub and a night club in the same building. Anyway, I will come back in Portobello hotel if I have to go to Dublin

Very nice and friendly staff, helped us a lot. The room was clean, except there was the kitchen's pipe outside our window and we smelled all the breakfast, but it was ok as the weather was cold and we didn't need to open the window. The hotel was 15-20 minutes walk to the center of the city. There was a club in the enterance of the hotel, even though we stayed on the first floor it was not very noisy, or we were very tired to hear anything.

About 20 minutes walk from city centre, and close-ish to a tram station. Similar in quality to £50 hotels in London. Pub next door (same owners as the hotel?) and there's small shops along the edge of the A-road it's near, but not many other amenities in the immediate area. Overlooks a high-rise housing estate on the north side, and the canal to the south.

The room was very cold, even when the heater was on. And, don't know why, when the shower is used, bedroom's floor gets wet. The breakfast was terrific! Really tasty food. The location is good. Just few minutes walking from temple bar, although the easiest way to get around is by bus.

Stayed one night at the Portabello in June. Friendly staff, spacious rooms and within walking distance of train terminal, bus stops, and Trinity College. The rooms were clean but not immaculate and were a little noisy late at night from the people leaving nearby pubs. I would stay here again b/c the price was worth the room.

Very good breakfast, including the possibility of choosing beetween full irish breakfast and continental breakfast. negative point: difficult to find following the indications on the map, event though the location is quite good; the noise of the pub close to the hotel; the temperature and the power of the water of the shower was difficult to regulate causing some incidents...

This hotel was exactly as described. A short walk (1 mile) from St Stephens Green and shopping area. The room was well supplied with tea making facilities,tv & iron and the bathroom had shower gel etc. The staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was large and tasty. An enjoyable stay.

I was in a party of four that travelled to Dublin for the Ireland v Wales rugby international. We were looking for a reasonable priced bed and breakfast hotel in close proximity to the city centre. The Hotel was just on the edge of the city centre, on the road next to the hotel was a bus stop, and there were lots of buses travelling frequently to the centre. Outside the hotel was the main canal, and this provided a flat surface for walking. The tram station was in easy walking distance, and frequent trams took you to the city centre. The hotel was very clean and our family room was very pleasant, and spacious even with an additional camp bed. The shower was very powerful, and the only slight downside that on the last day, when there were few guests left in the hotel the water was cold in the taps. All the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout, and the breakfasts, including one day 7 chipolata sausages, were very good. As we were on the second floor above the security controlled hotel entrance we could not hear the disco that took place. The pub section was quiet and again the service was very good. I would certainly stay at the hotel again, and would recommend it to anybody who wants to visit Dublin, but not be in the frenetic Temple Bar area of the city.

Overall a very simple and low service hostel. The price is too high for the accomodation and the service offered. Bad smell (smoke) in the hotel and the rooms. Disturbing cold airconditioning in the breakfast area.

For a 2 star hotel it's not bad. Staff are informative and accomodating. The hotel is minutes away from the city center.
