Hotel-Pension Zu den Linden - Dresden

Very nice view from hill top onto Dresden and onto the river Elbe. Very quiet atmosphere and competent staff. The breakfast abundant and tasty, very good choice of meals. The location is good, close to a big park, but a little bit distant from the historic center of the town. Anyway it is well connected to the main curiosities by the tram line N.11 (about 20 minutes trip). I'd suggest it for 3-4-days stay to avoid noisy streets and tourist crowds.

This “hotel” is actually an old house with a few large, well-lit rooms with large windows overlooking a quiet street. When I got there in late afternoon my room was not ready yet and the Russian girl working there subbing for somebody else started to clean the bathroom and vacuum my room. She did not speak any English (not her fault as I do not speak much German) and communication was a bit of a challenge. I only stayed there one night and did not care much about the situation. A small breakfast was served in the morning by the friendly couple who owned the facility. They told me the house had always been a hotel although at the first appearance, I got the impression that it might have been a whorehouse. Onsite/off-street parking was kind of limited on an unpaved backyard which was muddy with snow still on the ground. Not sure if I will go back again.
