exterior Hotel Il Nuovo Gabbiano exterior The Nuovo Gabbiano ('New Seagull') is an exceptionally comfortable 3-star hotel that has just been built in front of the harbour at Cala Gonone, typical village in the centre of Orosei's Gulf, on the east-coast of Sardinia, far just 1 hour from the Olbia's airport.
Designed by Mario Spanu - one of Sardinia's most renowned architects - the hotel affords stunning panoramic views that are unrivalled anywhere on the island.
The hotel has a total of 16 guest rooms, a restaurant and generous terraces that overlook the harbour. Relaxation is very much the order of the day as you gaze out at the breathtaking vistas.

Very warm welcome and very nice room but we found the dinner very expensive (22 Euros drinks not included )all the more so, as it was supposed to be a special price for the customers of the hotel !! Clearly, the most expensive dinner we had in Sardinia but not the best ! Moreover, although the vegetables (i contorni) were included in the menu, we only had them after our meat !! and were even asked if we were hungry enough to eat them !! Would return but would definitely have dinner elsewhere !

Great value for money, facilities recently refurbished to an excellent standard. Good view of the sea and harbour. A wonderful location for mountain walks and sea trips. We would certainly go again, perhaps in the summer when weather is warmer. Good restaurants nearby. Breakfasts good. Friendly services. Harbour a little noisy over the Easter weekend but quiet the rest of the time.

This hotel was a real treat and find- an oasis after travelling through the moutains. The bathroom was fabulous and the view spectacular from the balcony. The bed and pillow were the most comfortable in our trip. We only stayed one night but wished we had booked a week. Highly recommend

The hotel is in a beautiful location, overlooking the harbour, yet nice and quiet (in June). Worth paying extra for a sea view, as view from rear of hotel is dull. Our room was fairly small but clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. Very relaxing sitting on the balcony watching the boats coming and going in the harbour. Beautiful beach only a short walk away, plus some excellent restaurants (had some lovely fish at the Restaurant Il Pescatore next door). Highly recommended.

E' stata una piacevole sorpresa! Situato di fronte al porto con una meravigliosa vista, l'hotel è nuovissimo, arredato con gusto e il personale è molto gentile e disponibile. Consigliato!

Take the road signposted as 'SS 127' and head towards Sassari. After around 2.5 km, join the road signposted as 'SS 131 DCN' and head towards Nuoro. Continue along this road for around 75 km until you come to the exit for the road signposted as 'SP 38'. Take this exit and head towards Orosei/Dorgali. After around 18 km, take the road signposted as 'SS 125' until you reach Dorgali. Continue along the road signposted as 'SS 125' (also known as 'Viale John F. Kennedy') and, after around 6 km, turn left onto the road signposted as 'SP 26'. Drive through the tunnel and, after another 6 km, you will come to Cala Gonone. Proceed towards the harbour (Via Flumendosa, Via Cristoforo Colombo and Via Amerigo Vespucci). The hotel is located within the harbour, on the right-hand side. Map (printable version)
