Hotel de la Tour de l'Horloge - Dinan

Reasonably cheap hotel and pretty standard quality for a 2-star. Room spacious and very clean. Welcome very pleasant and helpful. Only major drawback being the alleyway/street outside the room being used as a 'pissoir' by the local vagrant! Okay for a 1 night stay but would not use it for anything more than a quick overnight stop as facilities extremely limited. More of a B & B than a hotel due to lack of facilities and the fact that the room was basic and therefore you could not use it for anything else than a sleep-over.

Very exotic hotel decor, perfectly situated in the old town. Warm reception and happy to recommend restaurants. Only niggle was it was perhaps in need of a refurbish here and there but a welcoming atmosphere and lovely breakfast with home made preserves and quality croixants.

The rooms are very uniquely decorated, which makes it fun. If you're a light sleeper, don't plan on sleeping in--the clock nearby starts chiming at 7am, and every 15 minutes thereafter. There are no rooms on the ground floor and no elevator, so you will have to go up at least one flight of stairs. If you have a car, you'll have to park in a public lot. Dinan is a charming town--well worth spending some time exploring.

It's a bit difficult to find the hotel, though it is located in the very center of Dinan (just behind Place des Merciers, but it seems that nobody in Dinan knows where Rue de la Chaux is...) but the room was really cosy and clean, with a nice wooden floor. Someone wrote in another feedback that the ceiling is very low. Well... the hotel is located in an ancient house and the rooms are mansards. And still I had no problems about that (I'm 1.75cm :-) ). The owner was very kind and smiling. A nice place where to rest I'd say.

The room and reception area had an unpleasant smell to it.

Nelle camere (e nel bagno!!) si poteva stare in piedi solo fino a metà stanza. Non crediamo che in Italia darebbero l'abitabilità a stanze del genere! La nostra prenotazione confermata su Venere.com recava chiaramente il trattamento di camera B&B al prezzo di 60 EUR (doppia). Al momento del pagamento invece ci è stato chiesto di pagare come supplemento le colazioni (a 6 EUR a persona). Di fronte alle nostre rimostranze la proprietaria ci ha detto che paga una provvigione a Venere del 15% e che quindi non voleva rimetterci le colazioni. Così siamo stati costretti a pagare 60 EUR + 12 EUR di colazione per camera sebbene il prezzo affisso fosse di 58 EUR massimo! Dopo aver pagato, la proprietaria se n'è andata senza nemmeno salutare, da gran cafona e maleducata. Venere.com farebbe bene ad indagare!
