Mature couple. Hotel is ideally located in Dijon. A big plus is parking, but the hotel is in the midst of renovation so it should improve - it really needs to. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The room was small, old fashioned and dirty. The public rooms were in a state of flux and the interim restaurant can only be described as depressing. Should this hotel be renting rooms until the renovations are finished!

We very much enjoyed our stay (4 nights) at the Hotel Des Ducs. #1 benefit is the wonderful location in a short walking distance to many sites in the old town (Place de Liberation, Notre Dame Church, shopping & antiques area). Our twin room and bathroom was very nice - quite large by French standards. Staff was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

This is definitely NOT a 3 star property...only the location was good. There was no parking available...evidently you have to have a car reservation as well as a room reservation. Although we had e-mailed in advance to indicate confirmation and that we had a car, they indicated they did not receive the e-mail or it may have gone to spam. The bathroom was dirty and the room itself was well-worned. We have travelled to Europe extensively and have used Venere on several occasions and this was not up to what we would have expected.

We were very disappointed overall with this hotel. very old fittings, rooms badly need a refurb. bathroom smelt mouldy. the sheets did not fit the bed and only covered the top of the matress. top sheet was the same so that the blanket was itching your body. beds were old and squeaky and we could clearly hear the one in the bedroom above during the night !! the only bright spark was the girl on the front desk who was welcoming and very professional.

Excellent location - near the major tourist attractions. Room was very large with a big balcony and it was clean. Building and furnishings are dated, but functional. Bed was comfortable but blankets / bedding could use replacement. Overall, it is a good budget travel hotel.

Pleasant, quiet and clean. Excellent location. Good room for the price. My only reservations are: (1)although there is a lift, on leaving it upstairs you have to descend a short flight of stairs to reach most (but not all) rooms; (2) the room price on Venere was very reasonable but 11 euros for a cold buffet breakfast with rather poor coffee seemed pretty steep.

Hotel des Ducs is very central and well situated as a base for a visit to the town of Dijon. Our room, a 'Superior Double' was a reasonable size but slightly in need of an update. It had a mini bar (which we didn't use) but no facilities for making a hot drink. The bathroom was clean and adequate with a good shower (over the bath). Staff were pleasnat and helpful. There was no noise from within the hotel but the traffic noise from outside was pretty bad at times - late into the night and starting again early in the morning. Overall it was perfectly adequate for our purpose and for what we paid.

We needed a hotel for an overnight stay in Dijon. The hotel staff were friendly and there is parking on site but the room was just ok. The TV did not work and the fittings are all a bit old.We could have lived with all that but Dijon was hot and there was no A/C in the room. We had to leave the patio door open. It was incredibly noisy ( and it would have been noisy with the door closed) and we did not get any sleep. Because of that I won't go back.

I booked a triple room and the room we've got was a two bedrooms and two bathrooms suite, with a small kitchenette. We didn't use the kitchenette, but it was by far the most spacious room we had in our trip. And for the price we pay it was a pleasant surprise. The hotel has a very convenient location next to the Palace des Ducs. We enjoyed walking the surrounding area. The hotel offered a breakfast but at €11 per person, we chose to buy croissants and beverages from a nearby boulangerie. On the minus side, the hotel offers free wifi but I couldn't get online ether with an iPhone or a laptop. nor could another guest. with a Blackberry. The staff was unhelpful. Also, the room decoration is quite old, particularly the kitchenette, but given the price I didn't mind. The hotel also has a small garage in the basement but you'll have to pay extra. Apparently you may park outside the hotel as well. One note of advice though, Most of Dijon's attractions close on Mondays and Tuesdays, so try to avoid those days in your visit.

Great location and nice hotel. Staff very helpful and multilingual. Hotel parking full (you need to reserve) but we found free overnight parking nearby pretty easily. Great aircon (it was hot outside). Found excellent Ham and Wine bar around corner - very friendly and worth a look.

The staff at the Hotel des Ducs was very friendly and helpful even to non native french speakers. The room we had was spacious and clean. The only negative thing is that the shower leaks onto the bathroom floor. The hotel is located perfectly for visiting the historic sites of Dijon.

This is a good hotel, in the heart of the city and with very welcoming English speaking personnel. The price is adequate for the quality/location. There have been two things that have made our stay less pleasant that it could have been (however, we have been still quite satisfied): 1. The room smelled of stale smoke. I guess it is still a problem in Europe, people smoke in hotel rooms even if it is not allowed. However, sleeping in such a room was not pleasant. 2. There is a quite busy street right under the windows. It does not look like one, it is quite narrow, but still it is apparently very much used. The noise problem is also augmented by very thin walls. I could hear a person in the next room shaving and sneezing. The breakfast was good but too expensive (12 Euro per person).

We spent a long weekend in Dijon, after working in Paris. The hotel was easy to find and in a great location. Our room was clean, well-furnished, spacious, quiet - in fact, perfect for us! We did not have breakfast in the hotel, although it looked reasonable. But the room price on its own was good value. We would highly recommend this as a low/mid-range option.

We traveled to Dijon specifically to see the Palace of the Ducs and the Musee des Beaux-Arts. The hotel was perfectly located to travel everywhere in the city on foot and the price was excellent. The rooms were not fancy, but they were clean and sufficient for the stay. The wireless internet in the lobby of the hotel worked perfectly, and the staff was extremely nice.

It was a mixed experience. The hotel is very well located, in the historic centre of Dijon. The rooms were OK and functional, although not decorated with any particular care. The person at reception was not very wellcoming, and seemed to be bothered to have to provide even basic information. The hotel did not have maps of the surroundings, and we were directed to the local tourist office for information. An irritating part was that customers are not expected to serve themselves with coffee in the morning, and yet there was no staff to help with that for a while. So, we helped ourselves, which elicited some direct remarks from the staff. Also, one had to endure a noisy and poorly tuned local radio during Breakfeast. Considering that breakfeast was 9.50 euros, this part was not good. Overall, this hotel is mostly convenient for its location. The rooms are OK, but there is nothing particularly attractive about the place. That is certainly not a romantic hide-away.

Very nice hotel that is centrally located in Dijon. Staff is very friendly and efficient and they offer parking. The price is a bargain. Rooms tend to be small but they are quiet and clean. Turning off the narrow side street into the garage is tricky but we were able to manage it with limited drama. Free internet in the lobby is a plus.

Our stay at Frantour Hotel des Ducs was great. The signage isn't very clear hence had a little trouble finding it with one way streets confusing too. Parking is a bonus and included in our online booking. Make sure you book it as spaces are limited. Other than that it was great value compared to other hotels we stayed at during our France trip. Excellent, very central location for walking to restaurants and shopping. Room was large compared to other rooms we stayed in throughout France. We recommend this is hotel.

When I arrived, I was advised my booking had been cancelled by Venere. I explained that my first booking had been amended from 3 nights to 2 nights, the receptionist could find no record. However she did have a vacant room. Beside that, all staff were great, and the location was, I thought in the best area of Dijon. I'd stay there again

This is an excellent hotel, well positioned and quiet. It is easily reached from the station on foot (10mins). We arrived at 7pm and were welcomed and given our room. The hotel was full. We discovered that it was too hot during the night (the aircon had failed in the room) and the next morning the engineer was unable to fix it. We were provided with a huge fan for the second night and then a room became available so we were moved to a room with perfect aircon. On checking out and without prompting, the bill was halved for the first night because 'we are very apologetic about the failed airconditioning'. I would recommend this hotel and the service. I would certainly stay there again.

Fantastic hotel, right in the centre of the town. only problem was the intricate one way system to reach it, not the hotels' fault. parking in the hotel is expensive, use the municipal car park at the start of the one way system, 3 euros per 24 hours. excellent local bars, try the theatre cafe at the end of the street and the bar next door. do not go near the restaurant near les halles that looks like a swiss chalet, very expensive and poor quality food, a rip off in anyones language!!!!

The hotel is in an old building in the delightful historic centre of the town. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast, served in a small but pleasant ground-floor area with an outlook on the street, included a very adequate buffet with a fair choice of cold food (salamis, cheeses, fruit, yoghourt, cereals) and the possibility of making toast and boiling eggs. My room overlooked the attractive formal gardens of the Regional Archive across the street and there was little traffic. My only disappointment was that the room furnishing was fairly minimal (though there was a fridge and TV and the bed was comfortable). Wi-fi was available free in the Reception area but not in the room. The hotel has a private garage which is observed by TV from the reception area. Reception closes at 01:30 but residents can get a code for later entry.

The Hotel des Ducs is a very nice hotel located about 1 block from the Place de la Liberation, where the Palais des Ducs de Bourgogne is located. The concierge is well-prepared if you have made Internet reservations, and the hotel offers a pleasant petit dejeuner. It is worth booking ahead online because the price is Eu 83 at the hotel, and about 1/2 this price if you've booked ahead. All in all, this is an excellent hotel in a great location. In the words of the hotel manager "Il est tres agreable ici" and this is, in fact, a beautiful city. It was the best of 6 hotels that I stayed in during my visit to Brussels, Paris, and Dijon.

The hotel did not receive the reservation for parking. The Location of this hotel is definitely not central in a small town like Dijon, esp. for the price charged. On top of that, the hotel staff are very rude. Firstly, when I called up to ask for directions to the hotel from the train station, the staff was not enthusiastic in providing it. In fact, she said she "cannot do anything if I do not have a map of Dijon". Well, I guess as a staff of a hotel, It's not difficult for her to give simple directions to her own workplace when all the other hotels in Europe could easily manage that. Then, they don't help their guests to send postcards (they don't even have stamps). Lastly, when we checked out, they charged us tax even when it was stated on our booking confirmation slip that "all taxes are included". I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. I believe there is no place for such service attitudes in today's competitive business environment. May I also suggest that Venere.com consider linking up with Hotel Ibis Dijon Central which provides a more central location in Dijon and charges a much lower price.

My main concern was would I find the hotel in the middle of Dijon. The map was not the best for directions but the hotel is sign posted so in the end it was simple. Parking could not have been easier. Being located so centrally the hotel was great for access to the central area's. I would certainly recomend this hotel to others and I hope to return at some time.
