After deciding that we want to have a weekend at Lago di Garda close to Sirmione we booked this hotel as it had available rooms and was close to our destination Sirmione. Staff is very friendly, breakfast is nice, rooms are big, but bathrooms are quite old and especially the shower area needs renovation. Old TV-sets in the room with a limited choice of German or English programs, e.g. no MTV. The pool area is next to the main road at Lago di Garda. Road traffic is noisy and disturbing when you are at the pool. Hotel offers secure parking and is in walking distance to the city center. Restaurant recommendation from the guy at the desk was really perfect.

Chambre sympa avec petite terrasse ou balcon, joli jardin, chouette piscine, parking gratuit, wifi haut débit gratuit dans tout l'hôtel, petit déjeuner très correct, à quelques minutes à pied du centre de Desenzano. Une bonne adresse.

Very nice stay in the Piccola Vela hotel. The rooms are very quiet, especially those in the backyard without the view on the lake. The breakfast is very good and diversified. We would surely recommend this hotel to our friends, family and to the internauts who are searching for a comfortable place to stay in Desenzano.

The hotel is a small, welldesigned establishment with very architectonially attractive garden layouts. We had a family room with a private smalle balcony in front and the children had good times in the relatively small but cosy pool in front of the hotel.

Enjoyed our stay at the Piccola Vela very much. Desenzano itself is an attractive little town, and hotel is only a short walk to town and ferries for lake trips. Verona is easily accesible by train. The room was comfortable, with a balcony overlooking the lake. Hotel staff were very helpful. There are a number of places to eat out at reasonable cost, including the pizza restaurant opposite.

The service at the hotel was something you don´t usually meet. It was efficient and inclusive and at the same time friendly and charming. That special quality was constant, not depending on any spesific person. The garden is beautiful and carefully taken care of. The breakfast offers more than you could expect in Italy - or anywhere. Desenzano was a perfect town for us to stay in order to visit Venice and Verona by train, enjoy the atmosphere of a small lake-side town and see the Garda-lake by boat.

Unfortunately, one of our party became unwell soon after our arrival, so eating out was limited. We had a lunch and a dinner at the hotel, and both were of high standard and reasonably priced. Most guests seemed to eat in every evening. We also ate at a restaurant opposite the hotel, with a balcony area beside Lake Garda. This, too was very good, and the staff were very welcoming.

Wonderful hotel. 2 minutes walk to Lake Garda. Ferries can take you exploring the lake towns of Sirimione, Malcesine, Limone and Riva. Half an hour to Verona by train for some exploring of a wonderful city. Hotel staff and service excellent. Full buffet breakfast. Nice pool and deck area. Quiet even though it's close to a main road. All in all a very enjoyable stay. would recomend without hesitation.

We stayed at the Piccola Vela in 2006 first. Very nice place.The only down side is that the nearby road can be rather busy and noisey. We didn't let it put us off though. Recommended.

Location of the hotel was outstanding. The section of road on which the hotel sits had very little traffic noise at night, yet the hotel is within easy walking distance of the harbor area. The room and the television were a bit smaller than I expected but adequate. The balcony overlooking Lago Garda was outstanding. The breakfast provided with the room was also excellent. Highest compliments to the staff at the hotel.

Hotel was in a good location with views of the lake. The room was clean and nicely furnished The staff friendly and helpful. The food and service in restaurant was excellent. All in all a good place to stay would strongly recommended

We reserved a family room that's located in a dependance in the garden. The hotel has a free car parking area (and a garage): we found place in the park area. That's a very nice facility since it seems not so easy park your car in the surroundings. Hotel personnel very kind and friendly, they waited for us for a late check in after midnight. Good breakfast, you may have it inside the hotel or outside along the swimming pool area.

Photos don't do it justice! Much nicer than it appears, but the aesthetics are secondary to the superb staff. Very friendly, excellent English, very helpful and responsive. Great location (pizza across road has great balcony) and 5 mins walk from the bars and restauants. Don't even think about staying anywhere else. Seriously.

Good central location to lake Garda. Excellent service, and good facilities. Free parking. Only downside is that the pool is close to the road into Desenzano and therefore not as quite as possible.

For a 4 stars hotel, the room was very small, the air conditioning system was very noisy and even the curtain of the window was not correctly hung up. Very disappointing;

The only down side was the road outside was a little on the noisey side at times as others have mentioned before. This was a very minor negative though. All in all ab excellent stay at a lovely place. If we return to Desenzano then we would definitely look to return to the Piccola Vela.

high qaulity at a good price, good service even for family with children. You can't view the lake from the hotel because there are som buildings in front of it and you need a car to go in the center of the town, which is beautiful.

Staff helpful,friendly and keen to please. Location very good. Plenty literature available in public rooms on attractions but nothing found detailing hotel services. More attention to detail needed in room cleaning. Overall very good and worth revisiting.
