Good location, pleasant staff and a good-sized room for three people. Area looks a bit rough but very close to everything downtown.

I spent almost a week at Farid while I was going in and out of Dakar and really couldn't have asked for better assistance and hospitality. It is a simple hotel but extremely well located, good value, and the restaurant is very very good. I injured myself while I was there and they couldn't have been more helpful and attentive to try to make sure I was OK and had everything I needed. I would definitely stay there again.

I have stayed at this hotel in the past and found it to be of good value. On this stay there was construction on my floor, outside my room four of the five days.It was explained that they were installing wi-fi.It made for a most unpleasant stay.had there been availability in the area i would have left. The staff are very pleasant but have no authority to make any changes or compensation.

This is a typical town centre hotel, so its surroundings are nothing special. The staff is friendly and capable, the rooms basic but clean and everything works. Underneath is an outstanding (but expensive) restaurant and the hotel has a separate dining facility and town garden that is a splendid oasis. We enjoyed our stay and prices were very reasonable

The location was good...right in the heart of downtown. The restaurant is not in the hotel but directly across the street. The food was good and priced right.However...it was difficult to get room serviced.my sheets were not changed until the third day and i requested every other day.Good value for the price.

This is a very decent hotel. The room was clean and, surprisingly, the shower had abundant hot water, The hotel restaurant is supposedly Lebanese, but it serves a bit of everything, from fajitas to cheeseburgers. It is a bit on the pricey side, and there are better restaurants for the money, apart from a very good place that serves traditional food just around the corner called Keur N'Deye. But it may be a good choice for the first night, or if you are too tired to walk sometime. The hotel has an internet-connected computer in the first floor, free to use. For some reason, this is not announced anywhere. They offer a transfer service from airport to hotel at 10.000 CFA. You don't really need this service; one can just take a taxi outside the airport and it will take you there for some 3.000-4.000 CFA. Be sure to fix the price with the driver beforehand, though.

I got late in the evening at the hotel, because of a late arrival at the airport and I left the hotel very early the following morning since I had to travel many hours by car. So I spent very little time in the hotel. Yet I can say, It is in the very centre of the city, therefore easy to get to. It is a very clean hotel. My room was extremely quiet and I slept immediately. The next morning the man in charge woke me up exactly on time. The decoration in the entrance hall is fine. I remember it is ok in the room. Nothing to remember specially. No special charm. But fine. On the whole, it gives a good impression of Dakar. A few months before, I had spent a few nights in another African country, in derelict places and Being in hotel Farid in Dakar, I had trouble understanding I was in Africa. Claudine France

The multi-lingual staff here is superbly helpful and friendly too – as are most Senegalese. The hotel's excellent Lebanese restaurant is its best feature. The rooms, though very clean and quiet, will not win awards for décor.

The Farid is an oasis in the desert of Dakar's noise heat and grime. And the restuarant is a jewel; one of the best in the city and not worth the effort of straying from. Tremendously good value and better than hotels at more than double the cost elsewhere in town. Book it!

The man who recieved us at the front desk when we arrived past midnight was a little cold and hard to reach at first. Understandably he was exhausted after working a weewk of night shifts, but it was not a good welcome. The restaurant, though expensive, was amazing. The staff was charming and respectful, and the maitre d'hotel became our good friend in a matter of minutes. Wonderful place to pass the lunch hour, or beyond.

Close to the main center of Dakar and in walking reach of interesting markets, big selection of good restaurants nearby and not too far away from the boat to Goré Island. Of course the Farid Restaurant across the street represent excellent cooking and all right service. This was also where the MasterCard worked (not in the reception of the hotel). DinersCard was not accepted at all.

First time, but not the last if I return to Dakar. Surroundings a put off at first, but I had a really positive experience here. I sensed limited English and my French is not the best but reception people understood. Met gay friend there and we had no trouble with reception despite Senegalese attitude toward gays. Just don't flaunt it.

Dakar is a big, bustling city. Polluted by emissions from cars. Good restaurants. Would not return to Dakar. First time at Hotel Farid, good choice, stayed for 4 days. Thank goodness the patron speaks excellent English.

In relazione al posto è un ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo. Tutti molto gentili e disponibili. Da citare l'ottima cucina del ristorante annesso all'albergo . Cucina Libanese e Senegalese. Servizio inappuntabile, cibo ben cucinato e ben servito. Da consigliare anche come ristorante.

I was concerned about the mixed reviews the hotel had previously received regarding room quality, but my room was excellent, with new furniture, quality sheets and TV, internet connection, room safe, fridge, and a fine Lebanese restaurant. It is ideal for the visitor who prefers to be in a vital city neighborhood instead of a sterile big-hotel environment. The staff were also very helpful in assisting me (a woman travelling alone) with taxis, directions, etc.

We accidently left our camera bag there. When we called to see if they had it, it had been labeled with our name and put under safe keeping. We were so grateful as that was the beginning of our vacation. We are VERY grateful for their honesty. They were helpful and pleasant even though we couldn't communicate very well as we didn't know french and they didn't know much english. the Hotel Farid restaurant is across the street for now. The food is great and we went back there at the end of our trip just to enjoy their Lebanese food once again.
