This charming hotel is located close to the train station that used to be the departing point to Machu Picchu, but that is no longer the case, as all these departures have been moved away to avoid the slow switchbacks to the surrounding plateau. It is some 15-20 minutes away from the main square and Coricancha, perhaps longer if you can't come to grips quickly with the altitude discomfort. Drink plenty of coca tea (offered freely by the hotel). The buffet breakfast is adequate and there are plenty of good eateries in Cusco.

Only a detail: my room was facing the central hotel square, which was cute, but very noisy: I was bothered every morning at 5am!! because of the noise when the personal was setting the breakfast (that space is used as the hotel restaurant, and all the noise got in my room)

I definitely recommend this hotel, they treated as like VIPs, they gave us superior rooms for the same rate given that it was my partner's birthday :-)

The staff is wonderful and the restaurant was very good. The bed linens were absolutely top class, and the bed as well - I slept like a baby. A very pleasant stay - I would recommend the hotel to any friend.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Terra Andina for 2 nights before and 1 night after a trip to Machu Picchu. The first 2 nights we were in a small, but comfy room (booked on The shower pressure was painful. After our return from MP, the room we booked (for less money) on was a much larger room with a king sized bed and large bathroom. Great hotel in convenient location on a quiet street, excellent breakfast. Front desk had some trouble remembering wake up calls and to relay messages though.

Even though I booked the room for myself, the hotel charged an additional 19% on top of the normal rate because one of my guests was a Peruvian resident (as opposed to a foreign tourist). Furthermore, there is a half-day surcharge if you check-out past the check-out time, which is absurdly early -- 8:30 am. To make things even worse, they charge in Soles (understandably), but at a horrible exchange rate. The rooms were extremely noisy...luckily this didn't bother me much because I was generally out until 4am and just crashed when I got back to the room. Light sleepers would hate this hotel. The free internet available is more or less old, virus-infected Windows 98 machine that runs extremely slowly. Breakfast is sub-par and was usually cold by 8-9am because they have no idea how to keep food warm. I've stayed in everything from hostels to 5-star hotels -- all over the world. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Met at airport by Hotel Manager who arranged to pick up train tickets and Machu P tickets and M.P. bus tickets also offered to arrange other trips. Hotel staff helpful whren wife had altitude sickness. No rooms appear to have outside windows, all overlook public areas so sound can be a problem. Rooms comfotable and clean. Location good 1 block from main locals market 10 mins safe walk from main square. Would recommend

We enjoyed our stay at Terra Andina. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable. Our room was located just off the atrium, in which the restaurant was located, so it was fairly loud at times (particularly in the morning). Overall though, the rooms met our expectations for the price we paid. A word of caution for paranoid travelers - the hotel is located near the main train station, a 10-15 minute walk from the main square. While we didn't have any difficulties, the area is not as safe as other parts of the downtown area and we were told to take cabs the short ride back to the hotel after dark. Again, we had no problems, but others seemed to think there was cause for concern.
